This food was so good!! The service was amazing- quick and so fun! It was very clean, served large sodas and teas, and several sauces on the table. Would come back again.

Catfish and shrimp with fries

I'm from Houston , I was in town for some business and decided to check out this place because of the reviews and the pictures. We were welcomed and seated upon entering. Super nice southern hospitality from the workers , and super fast service! We ordered the fried pickles, fried mushrooms and the #17 combo which was fish and shrimp and let me just say, this food was amazing! Very good and delish! And that's coming from a picky eater as well! If you're ever in town and want some good souther style seafood , make sure you stop by Sam's, you won't regret it!

Take out fried gizzards.

New place with Southern style fried chicken and seafood mostly. Came because girlfriend recommended the fried oyster po-boy and said they had chicken livers and gizzards. I ordered that and a diet Coke. When they were checking the order with the cook they had run out of livers and offered double gizzards instead. I waited not long for the frying. These were pretty good, I like my batter a bit more seasoned. It came with sides of cornbread, hush puppies, and green beans which were good.

I had a shrimp po-boy and fiancee had shrimp dinner. Both were delicious. Spicy but not too spicy. Good service.

I am trying to eat healthier these days, so a big fat chicken fried steak with gravy, Texas, toast,…read morefries, and coleslaw is a big splurge for me--and the last few versions I've tried left me disappointed and fearful that this pinnacle of Texas culture was fading fast. But the CFS at Clear Springs has renewed my faith in greasy, salty carb-loading. The steak itself was big enough to be a solid presence on my plate, and the crust was perfectly seasoned and adhered to the meat properly. The cream gravy was a little bit bland, but that's what hot sauce and pepper are for. The fries were on the skinny side, but fresh, perfectly cooked and well seasoned, and the Cole Slaw was tasty--that little nod to eating my vegetables. But, oh, the Texas toast, that carb bomb of margarine-laden white bread I love nearly as much as I love my mother! The restaurant, housed in an old railway Depot building is cool and creaky, and pleasantly full of weird vintage stuff like old bicycles and prosthetic legs, wonderfully pure Texas kitsch. Add to that a tattoo-covered server who was friendly, efficient, and kept this thirsty traveler's ice water full, and you have a great addition to a holiday weekend.

Server was great, polite, knowledgeable about the menu…read more Chicken fried chicken was good, so was mashed potato and onion rings. I got the steak with coleslaw and corn. I ordered my steak medium. It came rare and dripping. I asked the server if the cook flash it for a couple of minutes to cook it some more. My partner finished his food, my steak never came back. Server asked if I ever got it. I said no and asked him to charge me for the corn and coleslaw and remove the steak. They did, but left hungry. Not great.

We have eaten a Dolli's several times and it is always busy. This visit was no different. However,…read moreservice was marginal. Several apologies later, we finally got our food. I had the BLT with the optional egg and it was okay, nothing to write home about. Coffee was good. Restaurant and toilets were clean and from the sign posted in the men's room, it is highly rated (lol). Nothing like some bathroom humor! We will certainly be back as we are always hopefully that today was an anomaly.

Right in the center of downtown is a corner cafe that is full of friendly smiles as well as loyal…read morepeople who obviously frequent the place and even have their regular tables. Makes you feel like you're in a Texas country town for sure! My daughter and I were in Nacogdoches for college visit to SFA and we looked this place up in the hopes that we would find something different than a normal chain stop. It certainly is different and was exactly what you might imagine. Everything on the menu is decently priced and it seems that Tuesday is the place to be with short stack specials for $2 along with the weekday breakfast special at $6.95 On of my daughter's favorite meals is chicken fried steak and what better place to try that than a local diner??? Unfortunately it fell below expectations. The portions were quite large, enough that we could have just split a plate. The idea of sausage gravy on top of the mashed potatos and steak sounds heavy but also potentially fantastic. However both the gravy and the fry were quite under seasoned. I was able to fix mine with some cholula sauce and some salt and pepper was a quick fix as well for my daughter. The side of green beans and carrots she got were actually pretty good so perhaps there was just a disconnect in flavor at the meat station this day. I did very much enjoy the side salad I chose instead of the veggie medley. Came with home-made ranch which brought me back to my East Texas family gatherings with the freshly shaken ranch.....it was great. The portion size was pretty fair value at $13. Like I said we could have just split it between us. Very hit or miss flavors leaves this at a 3-stars for me. But no doubt some of the nicest folks in town work here.
