However I ordered a to-go order of 2 piece fish/ 2 shrimp from here, and my fish was rubbery , my hush puppies were over cooked, and my shrimp seemed to be fried in flour and had a very off putting color and texture, I believe because they fried the shrimp in a flour batter and not cornmeal???( WHY)?? Also the coleslaw was watery.. In the same order was an order of lemon pepper chicken that looked dreadful and over fried in a very dark color....( weird) not looking at all like lemon pepper wings I've ever had before. I tried to enjoy this but the lemon pepper wings tasted like leftover wings dipped in batter and fried with very little lemon pepper flavor. The coleslaw was decent. The fried fish was ok. The batter on the fried shrimp just tasted like flour and bland. Seemed a bit uninspired. Might be a while before we return. The employees seemed friendly enough. read more

I order oysters 1/2 FRIED and 1/2 not. it all had a bitter taste, but the oyster not fried cooked with onion were awful. I asked if i could all fried instead please befor I ate just a bite. the clerk did not apoligize but just said no! i talk to her a little more about it and asked for her to ask manager. She said manager said since i order it i must eat it!!! what sense does that make? The service 1, cole slaw, 4 fried okra 3, tarter sauce also bitter 1, fried oysters 3, and oysters with onions 0... i have eaten here before, sometime it is really good and more times barely etable. The AC wasn't doing its job. Everything I got was over-breaded and over-cooked. When I forked a fried green tomato, grease was dripping all of it all the way to my mouth. I threw away the entire order of frag green tomatoes, same story with the shrimp and the fish. The breading was just way too thick. The cocktail sauce was excellent, but the ranch and whatever that other sauce was were lacking any discernible flavors. I'm from Houston , I was in town for some business and decided to check out this place because of the reviews and the pictures. We were welcomed and seated upon entering. Super nice southern hospitality from the workers , and super fast service! We ordered the fried pickles, fried mushrooms and the #17 combo which was fish and shrimp and let me just say, this food was amazing! Very good and delish! New place with Southern style fried chicken and seafood mostly. Came because girlfriend recommended the fried oyster po-boy and said they had chicken livers and gizzards. I ordered that and a diet Coke. When they were checking the order with the cook they had run out of livers and offered double gizzards instead. I waited not long for the frying. Start off by saying that it is really hard to get 5 stars, so to get 4 you are doing pretty good. I'm not afraid to give you one star. First off this venue has been owned by several failed restaurants. The atmosphere was a bit stale when we first walked in. They didn't have children cups. The staff was very friendly and kind. I ordered a coke, syrup was perfect, but in the refill she filled it with warm coke and my melted ice made it watered down. I ordered mozzarella sticks, they came out a little to fast (that always concerns me) the dipping sauce was in sealed packets (gross) All the deep fried stuff you have the option of getting it grilled. I ordered a burger and fries Also fish, oysters, and shrimp. Burger was good, cat fish was really good, oysters were gross, shrimp was really good... I probably can't do fried again, because of my weight and maintaining it (personal note). Overall I would go back, would be a great place to take the family.. a major plus is there was no loud music. read more

Ok Nacogdoches let me tell you! THIS IS THE CATFISH PLACE TO EAT! My wife and I came to try something new because we'd heard that their fried green tomatoes were good, they are fantastic by the way, but we had no idea it was a catfish place. My wife is not big on catfish, she got burnt out on it after working cafe's for years; anyways we gave it a go. Now the menu can be a little pricey but they have lunch specials and poboys so it's offset that way so don't be discouraged. We got the appetizers sampler with fried green tomatoes and mushrooms and they were fantastic the tomatoes were great, not greasy still firm and delicious. The catfish is large filets, lightly battered, excellently seasoned, cooked perfectly not greasy nice and flaky. This is the best catfish I've had in the Nacogdoches Lufkin area for some time now y'all. They make their own tarter sauce and it's really good. The shrimp are huge, delicious and their cocktail sauce has a nice zing of horseradish. They have delicious crab cakes you have got to try, the flavor is amazing a nice buttery crab taste that just melts in your mouth. One of the nice things was that our food though pretty much all fried didn't come out drowning in grease. I ate here for the second time yesterday. This time, I had shrimp, fish, crab cakes, hushpuppys, and red beans and rice. The food was fried correctly; however, there was very little seasoning making everything taste rather bland. In addition, the roumalade and the cocktail sauce were also bland. The cocktail sauce tasted more like ketchup without the kick from some horseradish. Also, like many other restaurants, the cost of crab prevents the restaurant from adding sufficient crab to the crab cakes. The only thing not fried was the red beans and rice; however, it still lacked sufficient seasoning. My advice to this restaurant would be to buy some seasonings and use them. read more
