Avocado toast with chipotle mayo and bacon. The mayo wasn't too spicy-just right. Very good.

Great brunch, good prices and nice waitstaff. Glad we popped in after a stay at the hotel. Nice and comfortable surroundings.

Bright, airy interior with views of the hotel pool area greet guests as they arrive at the cafe. The pleasant decor in this large cafe are a good setting for lunch. We both enjoyed a good cup of hot coffee as we surveyed the menu. Our waitress was attentive and friendly. We both ordered the Lunch Break Trio that included choices of a half sandwich, and two sides. I will post pictures of the menu and food. Food was tasty and coffees were refilled several times. We enjoyed the lunch and certainly will come back and try other items.

The Henny Penny was fantastic. With truffle fries, I'd DEFINITELY order it again. I suggest anyone coming through to check it out. Cute little place.

The food was amazing! Highly recommend the avocado toast for brunch-it's the best I've had. Everyone is super nice and very friendly. I love the retro feel too!

Absolutely amazing, we had a group of 20 for SFA Parent's Weekend, it was about a 20 minute wait, but the hostesses were so accommodating and nice, most of the time when we have a big group restaurants act like it is a pain to seat us, but not at 1st City Cafe, they went right to work to get us seated. We had great service, great food, and a beautiful view of the pool.

Banana Bread Pudding was the desert of the month. It's not too bad, a bit on the thick or filling side, but the taste of nice.

Their Cobb Salad is a solid choice. However, get it without the bacon. The photo is the banana bread pudding desert.

I always love this place! This restaurant is a clean, upscale restaurant for Nacogdoches. Located in the Fredonia hotel, the food reminds me of classic Texas fare. Enchiladas, chicken fried steak, burger, fried shrimp, grits, etc. The menu is diverse to please all taste requirements including Korean tacos, salads, etc. The service has always been good with friendly servers. Will definitely return!

Atmosphere was inviting inside and out. By the pool is the spot though. The food was exceptional. Started with the candies bacon (a must). We had the shepherds pie, grilled salmon and fish and chips. Everything was excellent and extremely flavorful. Service by Chase was exemplary. When you're in Nacogdoches you have to stop in.

Visited again this summer and I can HIGHLY recommend the weekend brunch... As I write this, I'm actually upset that I live so far away, I would FREQUENT 1st City Cafe! We were staying at the Fredonia (love this hotel)... and this place is just the icing on the cake. Our table of 7 was quickly seated, greeted, and served (even though our drinks took forever to come out).. Arely was a personable sweetheart who enhanced our experience. Food: DELICIOUS!! My crabcake benedict was perfection... wasn't served with the traditional hollandaise but with a spicy sauce that was magnificent.. one of the eggs were overcooked, but it did not take away from the experience. My sister was over the moon happy with her shrimp and grits... my mom loved her fish and chips... fresh pork rinds were perfect... but the queso served with it was too much salt on salt... a different, more sweet, or less salty dipping sauce would balance it out. Drinks were really tasty... loved the coconut watermelon mojito, but it could've used a bit more rum. Please open one in Jersey~!

What a find! Small town, MCM historic hotel, delicious little cafe. The food was delivered quickly and with a smile. Great service. Fave item of the day was the charcuterie board---loved the pimento cheese and pickled radishes, especially.

Nice spot for brunch. Food was fresh and prepared well. Interior isn't fancy but is clean and modern inside a historic building.

I had the BLT with the optional egg and it was okay, nothing to write home about. Coffee was good. Restaurant and toilets were clean and from the sign posted in the men's room, it is highly rated (lol). Nothing like some bathroom humor! We will certainly be back as we are always hopefully that today was an anomaly.

Makes you feel like you're in a Texas country town for sure! My daughter and I were in Nacogdoches for college visit to SFA and we looked this place up in the hopes that we would find something different than a normal chain stop. It certainly is different and was exactly what you might imagine. Everything on the menu is decently priced and it seems that Tuesday is the place to be with short stack specials for $2 along with the weekday breakfast special at $6.95 On of my daughter's favorite meals is chicken fried steak and what better place to try that than a local diner??? Unfortunately it fell below expectations. The portions were quite large, enough that we could have just split a plate. The idea of sausage gravy on top of the mashed potatos and steak sounds heavy but also potentially fantastic. However both the gravy and the fry were quite under seasoned. I was able to fix mine with some cholula sauce and some salt and pepper was a quick fix as well for my daughter. The side of green beans and carrots she got were actually pretty good so perhaps there was just a disconnect in flavor at the meat station this day. I did very much enjoy the side salad I chose instead of the veggie medley. Came with home-made ranch which brought me back to my East Texas family gatherings with the freshly shaken ranch.....it was great. The portion size was pretty fair value at $13. Like I said we could have just split it between us. Very hit or miss flavors leaves this at a 3-stars for me. But no doubt some of the nicest folks in town work here.

Top Line: Picked up a Blue Horse fudge bacon brownie $6 at Brendyn's BBQ yesterday along with a meal, saving the brownie as a treat for today. So returned to Brendyn's this afternoon to get tea for eating the brownie. Brownie is seriously heavy!! Very, very moist beneath the layer of baby chocolate chips and extraordinarily tender of crumb. Too much so I found. The block of chocolate cake-like brownie crumbled into pieces as I tried to pick it up. I finally resorted to pinching off small wads of it to pop into my mouth. While being very moist with oil density, the flavor profile was about on par with a supermarket bakery brownie. Plenty of chocolate taste, but minimal (if any) bacon smokiness shining through. Fudge's buttery brown sugar sweetness or cream's richness were likewise AWOL. So I'd say this was a decent $2.50 brownie. But nowhere near justifying the $6 ticket price I paid to get it, in spite of its moistness. If I'm in the neighborhood of Blue Horse's sticks 'n bricks location I may hit them up for a cupcake or some such to see how that flies. But no more brownies from them for me.

I'm not sure why they made it so tall either, is that an "IN" thing? It was hard to cut and honestly didn't even fit a dessert plate LOL. I dunno maybe there's a way to cut that style. My request was last mintute but I don't really thing it would've been a big deal anyway because they had duplicates already on the table. It was okay, I wouldn't order it again though TBH. It's a cute bakery but there needs to be a few improvements on taste/texture. The coffee isn't that great either but there's not really a lot of options around. I know the next day after the Festival there was a coffee truck on the main square and that was GOOD! I can't remember the name of it but if there's a coffee truck in that area, they serve some BAD AS coffee!
