My husband and I decided to try McAlisters for lunch together. I ordered the club sandwich with fruit and a chocolate cookie. I also got a strawberry tea, which I should have gotten the tea unsweetened then had them add the strawberry because it was super sweet. The tables were dirty which is why I deducted a star. I had to take napkins and spread them out because it was dried mustard or something spilled all over the table that needed to be scrubbed with a washcloth. Also the floors had food. The pricing was a bit dramatic for what we got. It was $30 for two people ordering sandwiches. They were good but the portion wasn't that big honestly. All in all, not bad! read more

My son sandwich had mustard on it so I took it up there and the manger was up there to and the girl was standing with another employee and she was talking about me. So I called her out "yes that is what I said to you because you are rude!!! " and she said how am I rude cause I took your order? and I told her why she was rude!!! The whole time manger is right there. He did take the sandwhich and got it fixed and he brought it out and apologized for the mustard and the employee, the whole time we where there we could hear her talking about us !!! Most uncomfortable, horrible experience. WE WiILL NEVER GO BACk. I went up to order at the counter and there was the option of dine in or take out. I was immediately greeted and helped with my order. They gave me the tea, the chocolate chip cookie I got for desert and a order number to display at the table so they can bring me my sandwich. Food was good...what I got of it anyways. And it's my fault for not checking the bag but it was pretty heavy so I assumed it was all there. But it was not. The Black Forest Ham was all clumped, not separated like it should be and there wasn't much flavor like before - I believe the oil and vinegar was missing. They have a variety of cookies to choose from including my favorite, Heath Cookie, which has bits of heath bar in it. Out of all the times I've eaten there I have only had a minor problem once (it had nothing to do with my order being wrong or anything wrong with the quality of my food) but they 100% were on the ball with fixing it. I ordered the southwest chicken salad, they served me a plate of rotten lettuce so I sent it back for a fresh one. Second time around they served me another plate of rotten lettuce! My daughter got a kids Mac n cheese with a fruit cup. The Mac n cheese tasted old and they served her rotten fruit as well. It was very visible so I don't know how they didn't see that it was rotten and decided to serve it anyways. To my child!! Had a server argue with me that their produce was very fresh and it was unlikely that it was rotten. But not only did they serve my child rotten fruit but served me rotten lettuce TWICE!! Never again will I come here. Their food is not fresh AT ALL! My meal was completely refunded but they had zero guilt for what they chose to serve me they made it seem like I was being an inconvenience. This place SUCKS! read more

Today was our first time to try the McAlister's Deli in Lufkin. The three of us arrived during the lunch hour. It was very crowded but we managed to score a table. We each ordered the "choose two option", with 1/2 sandwich and a cup of soup. My husband was shocked at how small the portions were. In truth, it looked like a child's plate. There was a small amount of chicken salad on a very small 1/2 of a croissant. The cup of soup was a very small serving of vegetable soup, but was more "broth" than soup and had little substance. I ordered the same. My daughter ordered 1/2 garden turkey on multigrain bread with chicken tortilla soup. Her 1/2 sandwich had more substance than ours. She also received a side of tortilla chips. We were given a couple of packages of crackers which we did not really want. Along with a $2.50 cup of tea each, our meals were about $10 each. Not an unreasonable price for a decent sized lunch (which we did not think we received). Nevertheless, the food was good, just not very filling. Of note, we really enjoy another deli just down the street and also relatively new to Lufkin. There, we also order a similar option as "choose two" with 1/2 sandwich and a cup of soup (that actually comes in a bowl). We spend just as much and a little more (about a $1) there but get almost twice the amount of food, sometimes taking home a "doggie bag" of any unfinished bites. This McAllister's Deli just opened up in Lufkin and I just knew I had to go and try it as soon as possible. Since it has just opened up it is very busy, but the staff. Have done a wonderful job of keeping the line moving and getting food out at a very reasonable pace. I ordered a BLT + A and it was delicious! Definitely ranks in the top BLT sandwiches I've ever had. The lemonade is also superb and it's great to sip on for a hot summer's day. My son and I come from Nacogdoches just to eat here. The salads are always fresh and the potatoes are cooked perfectly. The staff is friendly. Restaurant is clean and appealing. Music selection is nice, I'm always dancing in my seat while enjoying the delicious food. I am a big tea drinker and their tea is great! Make sure you get the fruit purée in it.
