This a a very cute and comfy location located in the shopping district on Tulane ave. and the freeway. Waitstaff was very accommodating and friendly, however the sushi was very very average, if not slightly below, at least measured by the nigiri that I ordered. Hey, I won't judge them too harshly I suppose because Lufkin is landlocked and not exactly where one would expect to have access to very fresh sushi in Texas, as compared to Houston. If your are a roll lover, and not favoring nigiri or sashimi, this may be your spot. I found the free sample piece of the DiDi roll , which had cream cheese, crawfish tail, and imitation crab to be the best bite out of my meal. I ordered hamachi nigiri, tako nigiri, and 1 spicy tuna hadroll, along with an order of calamari, and the calamari was probably the worst I ever had at any restaurant and it was fried, with what seemed to be an onion ring batter. I still gave it 3 stars because of service, location, and very good hot saki and that frees DiDi sample.

It was quite busy during our visit, and we kept hearing staff apologize for delays, but we decided to order anyway. For our first round, we ordered edamame, soup, and a few rolls. The soup arrived first -- it was okay but lacked flavor, and unfortunately, they didn't have white pepper when we asked. The avocado roll came next; it was fresh and tasted good. The California roll followed and was also fresh, though it tasted almost identical to the avocado roll. Next, we tried the soft-shell crab roll. It looked great but had a very fishy taste and an unusual amount of lettuce inside, which felt a bit off. We also ordered a chicken tempura roll, which took about 15 minutes to arrive. It was hot and freshly made, but honestly, a little underwhelming in flavor. On the positive side, our server was quick, polite, and attentive throughout the meal. The food was very affordable and filling, which was a nice surprise. Overall, it was a decent experience, but we'll probably check out some other sushi spots in town before returning.

We are big sushi eaters, and are always looking to try a new place. It's not a "fancy" Asian restaurant, but quaint and clean. We were greeted and seated right away, and our server was very polite. The menus, table and booth were clean. Nothing sticky, thank goodness. Nice and quiet also. It's nice to be able to hear each other talk for a change. The prices are very fair for the portion size, and the food came out fast. We ordered raw sushi and hot food. The sushi was well made, and fish cut properly-not paper thin like other places tend to do. Good sized, proper portions. The ponzu sauce was really good, and I am picky about that, not too tart or too sweet. The hot dish was the human style Chicken and shrimp, which was just right. Not too spicy, and picture perfect. It definitely had NOT sat under a heat lamp, and was extremely fresh and very delicious! The sushi entree came with soup and we chose the hot and sour. Now, that is one of my most favorite soups, and they got it right. Best hot and sour soup I have ever had. In all, we give it 5 stars all the way around. I do not know why this place wasn't packed on a Saturday night. We are from Tyler, and they have some great Asian restaurants there-this one absolutely would make it in Tyler and that says a lot. I hope this review helps to bring them more customers! Thanks for a nice date night! We will be back.
