Had their tasting menu $125/person and it was delicious! Really filling too you will not leave starving We did reservations (very easy) and was seated right away. The atmosphere was very warm and inviting. Loved the vibes and twinkling lights. Although you could definitely come for a more casual experience this place would be perfect for a special occasion such as birthday dinners or date nights. The tasting menu was 100% WORTH IT!' It. Came with so many delicious appetizers and entrees. It is chefs choice so you won't know what you'll get but here are some pictures attached of what we got By far my friend and I enjoyed the cod and Kare Kare! Service was amazing. Staff kept checking in to see if we were done or if we needed anything. Super attentive. Would definitely come again

Trifecta sits up in the south hills near Silver Creek, tucked into a pleasant little neighborhood strip mall with a spa, a dojo, and a few eateries. It feels a bit more upscale and artistic than most sushi spots in the area, with a very nice atmosphere and a relaxed, date-night kind of vibe. Probably not a Tuesday dinner visit due to the price. Parking was easy. Service, though, could use some polis. Once seated, everything moved at a crawl, from ordering, to food arrival, to drink refills, and the staff came across a bit cold. We kept it simple with a Japanese curry cutlet meal and a kaisen don. The cutlet had a crisp coating and a mild, comforting curry, a cozy dish even if it didn't knock my socks off. The kaisen don was colorful and fresh, with a good variety of fish and a nice balance of textures. Definitely good, just not the most memorable version I've had. Not a five-star visit this time, but I could see it getting there on a better night.

Trifecta is one of my top sushi places in the Bay Area. This place exceeds my standards for quality sushi, premium cuts of fish, delicious one of a kind drinks and it has a laid back atmosphere especially on a Thursday or Friday nights when I've gone there. I've been there at least 5 times within the last 6 months and it doesn't disappoint. The attentive waiters like Michael who come and greet you and check on you multiple times and always makes sure after every order to check on you again. I feel very spoiled when I'm there because you're catered to in a fine dining restaurant like you're supposed to. You can't go wrong with anything. I went a little overboard for my birthday and had a special menu it had one of the most flavorful selections of fish with the pairing of the umami sauce that was mind blowing *chef's kiss* . What I really enjoyed about this place is a mom and pops and it is family owned. I love that I was able to meet the mom and her two sons. They work so hard and work so well together. I totally appreciate that vibe and how intimate you can get with a chefs.

I had really high expectations and unfortunately, we had a really tough experience. However, I'm hoping we came on an off night and look forward to going back and giving it another try. We came on a Friday evening and had a reservation. They were medium busy, but service was really rough. We waited 20+ to wave down a waitress to order. After our food came, we didn't see a waitress again until we got up to finally ask for a check. I'm patient, but this was not the experience you pay for here. The couple next to us had to get up 3-4 times to flag someone down. Now the food was good - we had a sashimi plate and a few rolls. Their side salad was also soooo good. The fish all tasted fresh and had good flavor combos. Pricey, but worth it for good quality sushi.

Came in on a Saturday night and was greeted right away. Once we were seated, we noticed how homely and relaxed the atmosphere and decor was inside. They had pretty lights that were dim but not too dim that we couldn't see our food or read our menus. Once we were seated, our waiter graciously offered to go through the menu with us and gave recommendations on their popular items. We went with the uni mentaiko carbonara and 2 rolls. Starting with the uni mentaiko carbonara, the sauce was thick, creamy, and has great flavor. Neither the uni or the mentaiko was too overpowering. The noodle dish itself does not contain uni and you would have to add an extra $15 if you would like fresh uni on top. The 2 rolls we had were the faithful roll and the body roll. We loved how they had their own unique rolls which definitely made them stand out from other sushi restaurants. The faithful roll is a little lighter and creamier than the body roll but still good. Our personal favorite was the body roll which had chimichurri sauce on it?! What is this, a steak restaurant?! Never seen that before and it worked out! The sauce was a nice touch and great addition to the fresh sushi. The best thing about this place and you can clearly tell they use high quality fish for their rolls that literally melts in your mouth. Hopefully this place stays open for a while because the area it's in is a pretty quiet neighborhood and restaurants are known to close down in that area.

"Uni" Carbonara Udon (two servings we had to split ourselves)

We had the $125 tasting menu, so this rating is more focused on that particular menu option. It's stated to be 8 courses including dessert. The first two courses were edamame and these deep fried seasoned split corn cobs. The edamame was fine, though because they were seasoned in a spicy oil, your choices were to eat them with chopsticks if you had a dexterous mouth, or fully commit and get your hands oily. I opted for the chopsticks, but as a result maybe got 3/4 of the beans and some bean skin - not easy for me to eat. The corn cobs were a little weird. It was like halfway between eating conventional corn on the cob and eating a BBQ seasoned corn nut. Okay, but honestly the first two courses were barely courses and not elevated in any way. Third and fourth were a tuna crudo and a raw fish mini taco. The crudo was really good - tuna was fresh and seasoned well. The taco was small - like two bites worth (or one big bite), but good also. These were legit courses. Five was a king salmon filet in a ginger soy sauce. It was good, but it was strange in that there were three of us and this came on only two plates. The one plate to be shared wasn't twice the size of the single and a salmon filet isn't an intuitive thing to split and share. The way we were situated wasn't such that I was even sharing with my wife. It would have been much better to ask - "we usually put a double sized portion on a single plate for two people to share - is that okay or would everyone like to have their own plate?" Simple question and would have made everything less awkward, because once it's out there and served, you feel like the difficult customer if you say "excuse me, can you plate this separately?" Next (six) was the nigiri course, which was awesome. Very tasty. Course was small though: 4 smaller nigiri, one uni spoon, and one thin piece of tamago cake. No complaints on quality/taste though. Seven was a uni carbonara udon dish, which tasted pretty good, but I again found it a little strange. And no visible uni, so it was must have been subtly in the sauce. At least a bit of uni on the top would have been a nice touch. Again, two people sharing one plate of noodles - awkward. When you have discrete pieces of ahi crudo where you can neatly pick your pieces, great. But salmon filet and udon noodles - no. Eight was a kind of ice dessert - it was fine and really none of the tasting menus really get dessert right. So was it worth $125, no, unfortunately it wasn't. Four of the courses were good and on par, we can forgive the dessert, but three of them didn't really meet expectations. However, if you ordered $125 worth of stuff you liked off the main menu, I can see how this would be a nicer meal. We were hoping for a course with the wagyu, but maybe that's too much to ask at this price point. The seasoning overall was more overt and forward. Not overseasoned, but you tasted the seasoning more than the main component of the dish. Kind of the opposite approach of another more expensive omakase we tried where everything was very subtle and you could focus on appreciating the quality of the ingredients. The place is casual, not fancy, and decorated like a fairly casual walk in place. The service was excellent and very polite. So giving this 3 stars due to some of the questionable courses, rather strange communal plating choices, and it not really being worth the price. But I do believe this is actually very likely a four star restaurant that we just misaligned on for some things - that makes it hard to just assign 4 stars when your specific experience wasn't that level. But all that being said, I'd come back and order off the main menu and I expect that I'd probably enjoy everything I ordered myself.

7 day dry aged king salmon (special)

Came here for date night and absolutely loved it. From the outside, we were unsure of our choice as trifecta is located in a strip mall and the sign is falling off. Don't let the looks fool you - this place is fantastic! We were originally going to get the tasting menu but ultimately decided to order several dishes instead. The wagyu gyoza was like nothing I've ever had before - so yummy. The yellow tail app was delicious and had a salsa verde on it mixing both Japanese and Mexican flavors. The sashimi platter and chirashi platter both had wide selections. The fish is SO FRESH. There wasn't one thing we had that was bad. The skin on the dry aged salmon was crisped to perfection. Service was fantastic. We had multiple servers but they all took care of us really well. The head chef came by our table and introduced himself which was such a treat. They told us all about their tuna cutting night they have once a month - we can't wait to come back to experience!

I emailed the team to place and order and got a reply within the hour. They did a good job providing the info. This was order for pick up so I can't say anything about the ambiance. The tray was $450 as listed on their site, but for the number of items listed, I expected a larger tray. For 6 adults and 3 kids, it wasn't enough to fill up. We ended up ordering more sushi from somewhere else. The tray had sashimi, nigiri, and rolls, all pretty small bite size pieces. It was hard to tell what was what, but based on descriptions I believe everyone really liked the Trifecta roll. The sashimi didn't seem the freshest, but it was a 40 min drive from pick up so benefit of the doubt it was partially from sitting in the car. It was worth a try and I think there are other options in San Jose for sushi platters at a better price or quantity.

When I tell you, this is the spot for elevated & delicious sushi (and Asian fusion!) It's always a good time sitting at the bar for a meal here, you will be entertained. But come with a group and share omakase style dining and it will be a great time! Service is always friendly and on point,

Went on a Friday night, last minute decision. Called about a couple of hours ahead and confirmed reservation for 6. More on the modern side with its decor and probably try to project upscale place with low lighting. But my opinion is that it failed in that aspect. First problem, when we got there, the host said that they didn't have our reservation. Told it was going to be a 30 min, so we decided to stay. Wait time was about 45 min. Ordering was ok, service in general was ok, friendly and spent some time explaining a few things. However, after ordering, it seemed that the waitresses were rushing things when bringing out food. When our waitress brought out our appetizer dish and a bowl of miso soup, her thumb was in the soup. I was going to ask for a replacement, lifted my hand up, but she quickly just turned around and walked away. I didn't feel like making a big deal about it and just put the bowl aside. Main entries came out, sushi quality was decent, the hamachi kama was actually pretty tasty. The spider roll was just sad as I can't taste the crab and with the low lighting, I can't see what was really in inside the roll. The third problem I have is the price point. For the price that they are charging, the food and service need to be a lot better. Another 1-and-Done for me.

10/10 recommend. Don't think twice, make the reservation and try everything. I came in on Wednesday night and sat at the bar. Decided to order the tasting menu and was not disappointed at all. The flavors were amazing, all so well-balanced and complimented each other. I was excited for each dish that came out. Great service and atmosphere.

Overall: A // 5 stars Trifecta has helped me reach sushi ecstasy in ways I have not remembered for a long time. This establishment has nailed the balance of the Bay Area casual comfortable dining while also bringing noticeably fresh and high quality fish to the table along with bright and delightful flavors. I would not say the individual dishes are priced unreasonably, though I did notice that I racked up a gluttonous bill lol. Highly recommend this restaurant, and better yet, I cannot name a bad dish on the menu. (Black Sesame Espresso Martini: A+) - Perfectly balanced cocktail with an alcoholic front that hits the bitterness of espresso backed with a sweet and earthly complexion coming from the black sesame. Well priced at only $12. (Kaizen Toast: A+) - A massive bite that is a flavor bomb with so much to offer, from the natural sweetness of the seafood -- namely, the uni -- to the yuzu aioli that adds a refreshing sweetness to contrast the spiced chilis. (Toro Toast: A) - How can one go wrong with truffle soy on top of a heaping spoon of ultra-fatty and sweet toro. The crouton adds texture and helps fully absorb those luscious rich flavors. (Toro Carpaccio: A) - Was a little skeptical at first, but this was a great special that balances the fattiness with a significant smokiness; the crunchy onions add texture and sharpness to the dish. (Trifecta Tempura: B) - The batter has more substance compared to traditional tempuras, but still has the crunch; I like the new vegetables that add excitement to this dish. (Kaizen Don: A) - Stunning bowl featuring gems of the sea; the scallops are delicately sweet; the salmon is glistening with beautiful marbling; the otoro is rich in decadence; the iikura is well marinated; and the crab salad is comforting as imitation crab, but enhanced with what looks like the crab roe on top of real crab and mayo to make it that much more addicting. (Soft Shell Crab Roll: B) - Beautiful roll incorporating elements of the classic while also adding California-centered ingredients to createa colorful and tightly wrapped roll. The texture contrast is beautiful and the sauce pairs well; I am just looking for a lot more crunch to pair with the large soft shell crab. (Faithful Roll: A+) - Shrimp, yellowtail, crab, and avocado are all delicate flavors, so I was impressed by how well this worked with stronger flavors like a mango salsa, unagi sauce, and honey yuzu truffle sauces all mixed together. However, the combination is astounding as there are so many notes of natural sweetness from the seafood, the fruit, and the sauces. This is all balanced by soy and truffle to give an ulterior complexity. (Body Roll Chimmy: A+) - Well-thought out roll that works extremely well, essentially combining a spicy tuna with chimichurri and seared scallop with yuzu kosho to get spice two ways and sweetness and herbaceoousness two ways. Nigiri (bluefin tuna, mackerel, king salmon, tai, Santa Barbara uni, house tamago)

The 3 of us came here for omakase on Sunday. We asked to see the menu before ordering but they didn't have one. Our server only told us that it would be 8 dishes, including dessert, with some appetizers, some cold dishes and a couple of hot dishes. In general, their selections were not bad, but I would rather pick other more interesting dishes directly next time. While I usually don't mind sharing dishes family style, I would prefer having single portion of each dish when having omakase. It would feel more elegant/special that way. (It seemed that they served 2-person portions for most dishes for our table, and the table next to us with 7 people, and a single portion for the odd-number person.) As for the food, the edamame was just ok. It did get better for the ones at the bottom with the sauce. While the corn ribs dish was flavorful, it wasn't my favorite as corn always got stuck between my teeth. The bluefin tuna crudo with the lao gan ma sauce tasted really good. It was fresh and tender. The smoked hamachi taco was well balanced. Would be even better if the lime wedge that came with it wasn't completely dry. The 7-day aged king salmon hot dish was cooked well, and the broccolini was charred well with a nice smoky flavor. However, the sauce was a bit too salty for my taste. The highlight of the night was the nigiri course, especially for the bluefin tuna and Santa Barbara uni. The house tamago was too sweet, though. I would prefer a regular tamago or another fish or shellfish. The uni mentaiko carbonara was rich and tasty, but it lacked some fresh uni or crab meat on top. I wished instead of the lychee ice dessert, they would offer something more substantial, such as an ube/matcha cheesecake or soufflé. Overall, it was still an enjoyable dinner with good service. Just a bit pricey for what we got.

Throughout the planning process, they were very easy to communicate with and were highly responsive via email. It was super convenient having them coordinate the table design at their warehouse, including the linens, plateware, and glassware. While the design meeting isn't a "boutique" curated experience, their warehouse has plenty of options to choose from if you already have a general color palette and vibe in mind. On the wedding day, the staff was extremely attentive and brought us hand rolls before cocktail hour even started to ensure we actually got to eat. The live hand roll station was a massive hit with our guests and absolutely delicious. I also appreciated how open they were to our custom cocktails; I provided my own recipe and li hing powder for a pineapple li hing margarita, which they executed perfectly. Cost-wise, this is not a budget vendor and is on the more expensive side. However, the full-service, high-touch planning and day-of experience, from the tastings to the seamless coordination of all design elements, completely justified the price. You truly get what you pay for, and we have no regrets. If food is a top priority for your wedding, we highly recommend Michi's. Went to their website to order catered buffet lunch for a board retreat happening the next day in Los Altos. As before site easy to navigate with a variety of options to tailor. The first clue that there might be issues was I wasn't able to see or select my ideal delivery time for later in the day. I thought they were already booked for the time. Then when I confirmed & paid for my order, the interface provided a message at bottom of my receipt that catering orders must be made 48 hours in advance. I did it the night before our retreat. (Made note to self to order 48 hours in advance in future) I was disappointed that the website did not clearly note must be made 48 hours in advance or message before I paid that I was ordering less than 48 hours. After making a decent size order for 9, I went in mode hoping to salvage this order. I sent email to restaurant and left a voicemail that night with intention to call in morning to ensure they can fulfill order or provide a refund if they cannot. I called in morning to leave another message in hopes they check messages before their Saturday opening time of 11am which would not allow enough time to cook & deliver. So while setting up for our retreat and searching for a plan B for lunch the hour before retreat starts at 9:30am, I discovered several missed calls. To my delight it was Lorena confirming that they can complete the order, to call back & that would need to pay $20 to deliverer (lunch delivery is complimentary during weekdays near to their restaurant). She left voicemail and text. When I called back, I thank her and Athena grill for coming through. Fast forward, food delivered in mobile hot boxes as expected on time by a couple, quietly arranged in the back of room, generous serving for 9, and very hot for traveling from Santa Clara to Los Altos. I confirmed with Lorena via text and expressed my gratitude who again was responsive. The food was enjoyed by all. We had salad (crisp w/dressing on side), grilled veggies (chunky cut that were firm not mushy), spanakopita (crisp phylo w/good size filling), vegetarian moussaka (would not miss the meat), rice (loose and more than enough for 9 of us), grilled skewered chicken (always moist), grilled salmon (first time and was good portion), and baklava (tasted home made). One of my colleagues asked if food was Halal, which I think they confirmed. Unsure if correct, so suggest contact restaurant directly. Brought leftovers for Hubby & Dad to enjoy. Made plans to eat at their restaurant so can enjoy other yummy dishes like their lamb. Thank you Lorena & Athena Grill Catering.
