This was our first time visiting Sushi Town. We were promptly seated and our drink order was taken. We arrived at 8:25pm and by 8:40pm we had our food, which included the following: 1. Spicy tuna roll 2. Spider roll 3. Rainbow roll 4. Tiger roll 5. Miso soup 6. Seaweed salad We also ordered Asahi beer and hot sake. The food was very good and we gave a solid 10/10 (the ratio of rice to filling was well balanced), the hot sake was smooth, and the beer was very cold. Everything was priced well compared to other sushi restaurants. Most rolls we ordered ranged from $6.95 to $13. Staff were very nice and attentive. The restaurant was clean and quiet. Two things I want to highlight:: (1) the restaurant closes at 9pm, and stops serving new clients at 8:45pm. Keep this in mind if you arrive past 8pm and (2) the receipt calculated the recommended tip based on total amount (including taxes) but tip should be calculated before taxes. Always feasting at sushi town. Parked in the lot in the back this time. Walked in and seated immediately. It was busy on this week day evening. We ordered 1 hot tea and 1 ice water along with our spread. Some items from the menu and some special items from the wall advertisement. Drinks came out quickly and so did the food. Honestly, the service here isn't great. Hell, it's not even remotely good. I've come here a few times and each time something just rubs me the wrong way. The staff is quick to take orders within minutes of you sitting down and there isn't any personality behind the interactions. The younger gal working last night was the only saving grace for our visit. She was nice, patient, and genuinely thanked patrons for visiting. The older lady was just moody. Her whole vibe was very monotone and blah. I honestly wanted to avoid contact with her as much as possible. While the sushi is decent and affordable, the restaurant was full of flies. I came back again to Sushi Town, and honestly... this might be my new hyperfixation spot This time I tried the USA roll, got another Volcano King roll (because I had to), and also tried the scallop roll. Overall, I really enjoyed everything. The USA roll was pretty unique, it came with seaweed salad, fried oysters, and salmon, which made it feel like a full experience in one roll. For some people, if you aren't a big fan of oysters, then it might be a bit too strong for you. The only small thing for me is the red sauce, I'm not the biggest fan of it. It's still good, just a bit heavy for my taste, so next time I'll probably ask for less of it. Only downside is that it's super hard to find parking unless you don't mind walking a few blocks. The restaurant is cozy and usually pretty packed but never a wait (that I've experienced). Our server was an older gentleman who was so attentive and making sure we were comfortable. Super great service which is a plus! But I go to restaurants for the food and the quality is insane for the value. We shared a bunch of different rolls and nigiri but the standout for me was the otoro nigiri. The tuna was soooo buttery and flavorful and the slices were thick! I had to eat mine in 2 bites from how thick the fish was. My parents loved the sashimi because of the fresh and thick cuts. My first time here! My cousin and I stopped by at an odd time around 4:30pm so it was quite empty! There's parking in front but some spots are only 30 mins parking. What a great find! They have bentos for $10 which is SO affordable and a variety of rolls 50% off on listed on the wall. Besides bentos, our group also ordered a lot of the discounted rolls since they had classics like rainbow roll and salmon avocado, Lion King roll, Dynamite roll, and double salmon roll (my favorite). Besides the double salmon, I also enjoyed the salmon avocado and Lion King baked roll. The Dynamite is a fried roll so was a little heavy for my taste. What I was most impressed by was the udon. We got the seafood one which was priced at almost $20, but I had no idea how large the portion would be. Our whole table which 6 adults could all share it because a huge pot arrives at the table filled with seafood and a lot of vegetables. Even the cucumber salad was a huge bowl that we could all share. Admittedly, this place doesn't have the best sushi, but what it lacks in quality it more than makes up for in value. The portion sizes are massive and everything is super cheap. They have a bunch of specials posted along the walls for cheap lunch bentos and rolls for $7-10 which is pretty crazy for the Bay Area. The best thing here by far is the $10 otoro nigiri. You get 2 fat slices of otoro and they're well marbled. It was really good also, the fish was rich and the fat melted in my mouth. It's a steal for $10 and I would definitely get it again. The Salmon Kama was also pretty good. It was also $10 and was a huge chunk of fatty salmon. Salmon is already pretty oily and the collar has even more fat so it was pretty filling. My only gripe about this place is some of the fish isn't the freshest. The tuna and salmon, which I guess have high turnover, were pretty good, but the Capital Roll which used a bunch of different fish had some that tasted a little off. This has to be my new to-go place for Japanese food. I can't believe I've lived near here for the past 2 years since this place opened and I just found this place on Yelp. I guess it was meant to be. The prices here are very reasonable especially for Japanese food in the Bay. I respect business owners so much for not ripping off customers just because Japanese food is popular (cough cough like Bay Area Korean restaurants cough cough), providing high quality food, and above and beyond service even for me who was just there to order food to go. The owners treat you as if you're a regular even if it's your first time. I don't think I need to say much about the food-everything I ordered was phenomenal. The double salmon roll was fresh and the rice was good. The rice that came with the bentos was also cooked well which matters a lot to me because I'm scarfing it down with my proteins. The tonkatsu was pleasantly crispy and tender and the tonkatsu sauce that they drizzled on top was good too. The chicken teriyaki had that smoky chargrilled flavor that I loooooove from Japanese restaurants. The tempura was very crispy and generous with the breading. The California Roll was unexpectedly really delicious too. The teriyaki salmon was also good. I can't recommend this place enough. IMO- it's not like your typical sign-in and be seated kind of restaurant, we walked in and the very sweet old server man told us we could sit anywhere! We sat by the window and the server was very polite, professional, and accommodating all the way through. He's like your kind, wise, and soft spoken Asian uncle LOL! Don't think "sitting in a restaurant eating"... although etiquette still matters here. Think "you went to someone's very quiet, peaceful and lowkey comforting sanctuary and they made you some scrumptious sushi." We ordered a total of 3 rolls, and although I can't remember the names of them now, one of them came with a yummy gigantic mountain of crab salad. All three rolls were delicious and flavorful. The ONLY thing is... and I don't know if It's just me having zero to no knowledge of authentic ginger.. but I did get a SLIGHT hint/whiff of strong chemical as I bit into the ginger. The parking around Sushi Town is a bit tricky (there's very limited parking) but we were fortunate to be able to snag a thirty minute spot before going in to make our order. The service was very friendly, and the restaurant appeared very tidy with a pleasant ambiance. There were various signs advertising some ongoing sales for certain dishes, one of which was the Double Salmon Roll. I decided to get it to-go, which was around ten dollars as a result of the sale, before we decided to return to the lake to eat our sushi. The sushi was amazing. I wasn't entirely sure what I was expecting, but it was both fulfilling with a satisfying flavor. I would probably consider this place to be one of the better sushi places that I had chosen to eat at in the Bay Area, and I would definitely consider returning at some point later on. With it being about 12:45 PM, I was hoping it wasn't busy and the restaurant was actually empty. I ordered the #3 bento box which is the tonkatsu, 2 piece California roll, and mixed tempura meal. At $9.95, it's a great value. I'm trying to cut down on my white carbs so I asked to substitute the rice with extra salad and they did that without issue. Miso soup costs extra and it wasn't something I was interested in. Overall the food was really good. The salad was crisp and the dressing was tasty. The California roll was fresh and the tonkatsu was crispy although I have 2 issues with it. Firstly, it was slightly overcooked. The little fat on the chop saved it from being really dry. Also, I'm being picky here but the person who cut the tonkatsu had absolutely no regard to uniformity! It's just one cutlet and I can tell the knife was super sharp but some pieces were cut at 1/4" while others were closer to 3/4" wide. Take some pride in the product you just created! It's not just the aesthetic but it also affects your bite sizes and how much tonkatsu sauce you need.
