Don't bother with their premium tier. It's not worth it. The meat quality wasn't good. For how much you're paying. I usually love eating meat at AYCE places but I found myself liking the sushi rolls more. The kitchen was quick for meats but slow for things like rice, miso soup. We got duplicates of some orders, sometimes 20 minutes after the original order came. The staff are incredibly hard working a dirty plate would get picked up pretty quickly. It took a while to get set up because I came in a big party but the service was very good. I got the lunch menu (~$32 with 18% gratuity fee and tax) and the meat quality was good for the price. Came on a Friday for lunch with some friends;, AYCE for $25 with a 90 minute limit. Service was fast and friendly. Food was delicious. They were happy and ready to change our grill anytime, and even came by to adjust the fire for us when the flames got out of hand with oil dripping from the meats. 10 item limit per order and 3 minutes cooldown on ordering. They progressively seemed to give less after each round; for example, we got 4 slices of salmon jalapeño in our first order and future orders came with 3. Meat was similar. However, my party was happy and very satisfied with our meal since we'd just order more. My favorite cut was the australian meat plate out of all the options, but they're all pretty decent. Surprisingly, the ramen is really good. The udon tasted a bit funky, we didn't like that at all. We got a salmon sushi roll and we felt the quality of salmon in that was lesser than the salmon jalapeño. There's a bar in the back with banchan like kimchi, cucumbers, bean sprouts, seaweed salad, edamame, and greens; and also desserts like cake, orange, cantaloupe, and jelly. If you want to experience Japanese Wagyu, especially A5 graded, this is not the place! We chose the Premium menu because we expected the Japanese Wagyu to be similar quality to places like Mikiya. Huge disappointment. The meat was chewy and honestly did not taste or look like real Wagyu at all. We felt cheated. I even asked the server which meat was the Japanese Wagyu we ordered, and she told me the one on our table was Australian Wagyu, even though we specifically ordered Japanese Wagyu. Later, another server (we believe she is manager) brought us 4 slices of what they considered Japanese Wagyu, but by then our dinner experience was already ruined. The sushi was also disappointing. It tasted like supermarket sushi, not fresh sushi from a restaurant. They don't even list the sushi ingredients on the menu, so you don't really know what you're getting. The oysters were not fresh either. I don't mind paying money for good food, but the quality here was nowhere near worth the price. Very disappointing experience and I won't come back. While the Wagyu is not the melt in your mouth cuts of beef it did satisfy the kids yaki niku craving. Had the price point been higher I don't think the Wagyu here would've sufficed. I have been wanting to try this place for many years now and finally I have! Our server Jackie N. Was absolutely outstanding. She provided amazing service. Always on top of everything. She was able to get me extra boiled eggs for my ramen (which I absolutely loveeee how the eggs are cooked!!). Anything and everything we asked for Jackie provided for us. She was very informative about how their services work and where we could find the sauce bar. Restroom and what not. Jackie came to check on multiple times which was really nice and at one point I was talking about changing the grill and Jackie happened to overhear us and looked over and asked us if we needed a grill change which was really nice that she knows how to multitask and work quickly on her feet to grab that as soon as possible. Thank you, Jackie for your hard work and dedication. The service that we received tonight by you was absolutely outstanding and I would definitely come back and recommend anyone to come back here. Definitely going to request for Jackie the next time I come back here. The establishment is very clean, the restrooms are well kept, the decor on top of the ceiling and the walkway leading to the restroom is absolutely wonderful. I love the blue color and how dark it looks, but still enough like to see where the restrooms are very creative. The sinks in the restroom are also beautiful. The portions are amazing here and the food was very delicious. The men were absolutely amazing as well. They brought all of our meats out very quickly, and the portions are huge, which is awesome. Since it was a weekday, it wasn't crowded, which made for a really nice and relaxed experience. Our servers were incredibly friendly, attentive, and welcoming. Came here on a Friday night around 7PM for a group of 5 and we were quoted about an hour. We ended up waiting around 45 mins. It's where the old Milpitas GEN bbq, used to be, and after Gen it was a seafood steam spot. It looks basically the same as before throughout. It's in a big plaza so there's a big parking lot, but it was unusually busy that weekend, so parking was actually a nightmare. We opted for the gold option which ran us about $45ish each. It was also cool bc they offered AYCD beer for like $13 a person (and interestingly, they do not require the entire table to take the deal). The beer options were all the drafts so it was a really good deal actually. We also got some drinks at the bar while waiting and the bartender was really great. He made drinks for us, that weren't on the menu as long as they had the ingredients. You order your items through. QR code, you can order up to 10 items each time, and everything counts, even sides like garlic, or rice. You will have to wait 3 mins until you can order again. Our server was good, came around often. The hostesses were young girls, typical unbothered gen z. Now for the nitty gritty. None of us thought the meat was really wagyu, it just didn't really win us over. I think we ordered the boneless short rib the most. It's nice that most of the appetizers or other items like ramen or claypot comes out in small portions so you don't fill up too much on it. We basically tried everything and it was all mediocre TBH. We also tried almost all the sushi sashimi and rolls, the fish just didn't really taste that fresh, all mediocre as well. The funny thing is, the peanuts they offered at the sides bar was super delish, but probably bc of the msg, haha. We all collectively agreed none of us will be coming back. I'm not sure why Xian "closed down". I don't know if the Xian restructured or changed owners. The interior is still exactly the same. It's a good size venue with ample amount of seating. Parking is not usually an issue as there is plenty of parking in the Milpitas Square Plaza. However, during peak hours and the weekends, completely different story. This place gets packed! I made a reservation for five people for a Sunday evening dinner at 6:00 PM. We got seated when everybody arrived. For the most part, everything was smooth. Service was good and the staff were attentive and friendly without being overbearing. We found the cuts of meat to be smaller that other AYCE places, but they do let you order 10 items every 3 minutes, so that sorta makes up for it. Unfortunately, some of the items we ordered took forever... actually I take that back. They didn't even show up! lol I ordered an Unagi bowl which never came, so after 30 minutes I had to flag somebody down and inquire about it. She brought it out for me in about 5 minutes. We ordered an assortment of meats and sushi and everything was great! Our favorite cuts had to be the tongue and short ribs (what a surprise). I would avoid getting the bulgogi as it was mostly fat and the marinade wasn't that great. When I got home I had the hugest stomach ache and proceeded to drop atomic bomb #3 in the toilet. We went with the silver tier, which the host explained the main difference being the Australian wagyu short rib and beef tongue (gold being Japanese wagyu cuts). You then scan and order on one phone, limited to 10 items every 3 minutes. Not a bad system, but a little annoying that only one phone can order at a time, and garlic counted as an item. There is banchan, sauces, and appetizers in the back. Really enjoyed the mung bean sprouts and peanuts. The ayce meat quality wasn't great, but service was generally good. We got a few raw fish dishes as well, which were okay. The meat and fish were generally sliced thinner. It was a hour wait, when we checked the yelp waitlist we got called around maybe 45 - 50 minutes so the wait time is accurate, but, you could probably get called earlier if tables open up. We picked the silver menu, it included Australian Wagyu, Rolls, Appetizers, etc. Most of this is delicious and every server and worker was pretty consistent and helpful with bringing the meat out pretty fast. There are sauces on the table, there's also a sides bar as well. Overall, the menu and food is pretty explanatory. We got pretty full and the service is phenomenal. There were other items we ordered, including ramen and sushi which were also pretty good. The focus here is definitely more on the BBQ, but I think they do a decent enough job with their other foods that they're worth trying too. It was my first time trying Wagyu Grill and I was truly impressed! My friends and I got the silver menu just to try it out and there are already plenty of options to choose from. My group had people that enjoyed meat and seafood and they provided options for the entire group. The highlights of my meal were the salmon lover roll, wagyu hanger meat, and wagyu top round. We started off the new year craving some AYCE bbq and surprisingly, this place satisfied. There are 3 menu tiers: silver ($35.95), gold ($43.95), and premium ($65.95). We settled for the silver since we figured we weren't going to notice anything past the basics. The gold has a few more options but I couldn't narrow it down. I know that the permium additionally includes wagyu from Japan. 10 orders are allowed to be requested on their app every 3 minutes. At the beginning, we were hungry and the orders were taking a while to come out. After some time, the staff caught up and it became challenging to tell which item was from which specific order. I'd suggest ordering one set of only meat and one set of anything else. I did notice many of the rice dishes would take a while to arrive and quite often, they were forgotten. I had ordered a rice clay pot at the beginning of the night and by the end, since we hadn't received it, I decided to submit another order instead of asking them directly. Two clay pots came out and I was struggling to finish. The clay pot was also very oily so I don't recommend it. For the wagyu, the quality was good and by the end, we decided that the top round, chuck eye, and mizuki sasa were the ones we would focus on. As for the other items, the ramen and sushi were surprisingly good. The sunset roll were my sisters' favorite but I'd only recommend if you like cream cheese. I've seen this place all over Instagram, so I finally decided to check it out with my family. We went with the Silver package, which I thought was just okay. To be honest, I didn't feel like there was a huge difference between the Silver and Gold levels, so next time I might try the Platinum package to experience the Japanese Wagyu. Most of the meats were not marinated, so they provide ponzu sauce and sweet soy sauce at the table for dipping. My favorite cuts were definitely the Wagyu hanger steak and ribeye -- flavorful and tender. Some of the other cuts were sliced very thin, which made them easy to accidentally overcook if you weren't paying close attention. I also tried all of the sushi rolls, and I appreciated that they were offered as half rolls, making it easier to sample everything. The tuna wasn't the best quality in my opinion, but the rolls with salmon were pretty good. They also had solid sides like kimchi and pickled radish, which helped balance out the heavier meats. Service here is fairly hands-off since everything is ordered through your phone. The food came out quickly, and the staff did a good job clearing empty plates throughout the meal. The restaurant is sectioned off well and didn't feel loud even though it was almost a full house. My biggest downside is the parking situation because how busy this plaza is. Not only were the meats high quality, but the option to also have hot appetizers, sushi, ramen, and rice ordered is something you really can't find at many other KBBQ restaurants. Food comes out so quick, service is also nonstop with all the grill changes, we couldn't have been happier. Favorites included the black garlic ramen, bulgogi, and surprisingly the kurobuta pork. The wagyu was high quality, and the sashimi was surprisingly good for an AYCE spot. Speaking of AYCE, the sashimi and appetizers really stood out. The takoyaki was excellent--crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and packed with plenty of octopus. All of the rolls we tried were excellent as well. Honestly, there wasn't a single dish we ordered that we didn't like. The unagi don was solid, the ramen options were all good, and the miso soup was especially impressive--it tasted like the kind you'd get in Japan. The wagyu clay pot rice was also so good and a definite standout. The ambiance is modern and clean, making it a comfortable spot for a group gathering. Got there right when they opened. The place is very clean with nice sight lines. It was empty but filled quickly enough. You need a cellphone to order. Then to reorder, hit the back arrow. Then you also have to self refresh every 3 minutes to reset the page and order again. You get up to 10 orders per table. The photos are larger than the products. If you like the product order more than one. Service is quick if the restaurant isn't busy. But as the tables began to fill, the order deliveries began to take more time. We took the entire 90 minutes. There is no traditional service per se. The food runners don't refill waters so it would be nice if they just left water jugs on the table. Our server was very nice. Gave us the run-down on what to do, where to go, and the low-down on his recommendations. The table salt is delicious and it is smoked! It goes great with the ponzu for wagyu meat dipping. And the cubes of butter are to grease the grill when meat starts sticking. The food comes out stacked. A multi level cart will be rolled table side, unstack the food on the top shelf so you can see what you have. Put the empties below so your table is clutter free. I used to come here when it was Xi'an steam pot and yakiniku so I was quite curious of their updates. I got the premium tier so that I could see if it was worth it (and to try their oysters ofc). From the start I was happy to see the wagyu fried rice still on the menu (my favorite) but the amount of the fried rice is very little compared to before - but it's fine you can always order more :)). The salmon lover roll was very yummy here - the fish wasn't too fishy and it was a perfect melt in your mouth sensation. I tried all of their sashimi/carpaccio options and I thought these were good - I just wish they would serve straight sashimi though I could do without so much acidity but the fish quality was pretty decent. The Wagyu was just as yummy as I remembered and the beef tongue this day was so nice and soft not too chewy perfect thickness. Now the real question was this premium course worth 65+ dollars per person? Not really - I think the silver tier is best for most people but this was nice to do since we were here for a birthday. With the cost being 65 I expected a bit more variety with the cuts of Wagyu/meats but there wasn't that many. And tbh when I'm at an ayce meat place I'm not trying to fill up on sushi/rice. Don't get me wrong the pieces we tried were good (especially loved the scallop sashimi) but was it worth that much? I don't know...I def didn't eat that much to justify. This is our second experience here and it was nice to come back! We got the premium menu and tried a wide variety of their meats. The meats were sliced in bigger portions this time, which I think helped with the speed of service. Some of the meats suffered from being too chewy because of the cut though. The service was sweet, fast and kind. Our main server, Elissa, was exceptionally great. They serviced us as a team though and all our food arrived quickly. The portion sizes vary greatly, so be careful! The unagi bowl was small, which is very nice for ayce. The Udon bowl is huge! Good thing it's yummy! The hosts were also very kind. When walking in you are in a completely new area of the Milpitas plaza. I was shocked to see how beautiful it was on the inside. We got the premium menu to try for my birthday. It had the most amount of Wagyu and it was definitely the most interesting. We had a pretty disappointing experience here with the quality of food, arrival speed/accuracy of ordered items, and availability of salad bar items. The one highlight was our waiter who did a stellar job, though it unfortunately couldn't make up for the other issues. FOOD QUALITY - Everything we ordered from the Gold Course was solidly mediocre at best. There was no single item that I would have wanted to order again. Obviously we did re-order some meat just to get some value out of it, but we were really forcing it down at that point. Garlic ramen was the one item that I might want to try again, but only for the broth, because the noodles had a strange consistency. FOOD ACCURACY - We had a feeling we were missing some items, but it was difficult to pinpoint which ones. The staff handing out the meats was different from our waiter, and it turns out they had mistaken some of the cuts. We only fully figured everything out on our last round when we received some meat we had never seen before (but had definitely ordered before). ORDER SPEED - You place orders on your phone (QR code menu). There were some issues with it at first, but after some time, our waiter was able to get it up and running correctly. But we ended up waiting over 20 minutes for our 2nd round of meat, and it didn't get all that much better in subsequent rounds. At one point we had to flag our waiter about it and he found out our order had been mistakenly taken to another table?? Our 90 minutes came up really fast due to slow arrival speeds which was disheartening. We were still allowed to eat, but it didn't matter too much since our food came so slowly. SALAD BAR - There's one section with seaweed salad, pickled radish, kimchi cabbage, kimchi cucumber, beansprouts, and seasoned peanuts. These were actually pretty good! Basic, but it helped cut through the...everything of the meat. There was another section with actual salad, which I didn't partake in. There was Chinese buffet-style chocolate cake there at one point, but they ran out some time around 8pm. In another section was red and mango jello. The mango jello also ran out before our meal ended. Overall, there seems to be major issues in the back/kitchen's end. The waiter was overall extremely apologetic about everything, but he couldn't singlehandedly save the experience. We were getting everything slowly, incorrectly, and it just...didn't taste good. The grill itself was pretty nice though--Better than the ones at Gen, I'd say. We walked out extremely disappointed, but at least we weren't smelling overwhelmingly of smoke. read more

I am not a big fan of beef, but I decided to give this restaurant a try since they also have sushi and sashimi on the menu. We came here for Sunday lunch. There was no wait, and we were served immediately. The food came out quickly each time we ordered. The quality of the food was excellent--not only the wagyu, but also the sushi, sashimi, and side dishes. The service was great, and the waiter was very attentive. We will definitely come back to try the higher-tier menu. read more

Great concept, poor execution. We've been to a nearly identical spot previously and LOVED that place so we had high expectations for this place since the concept and menu was identical with no association to each store. Upon walking in, we were greeted and waited for them to set up the tables before we were sat. We had indicated we wanted a booth and didn't mind a tight fit because we had two little ones with us. They declined and said we wouldn't fit. Upon asking again but this time letting them know that we're OK with a tight fit because we have two little ones, the host seemed irked and said "NO we cannot accommodate you there" in a rather snappy tone. Mind you, the booths on the right are a tad roomier than the ones on the left when you're looking into the restaurant. So that was off-putting from the get-go. However, an hour after we were seated, additional parties of (2) were being seated at the bigger booths but none were being seated to the right where they were able to accommodate them... so I didn't quite understand? If it's them wanting the guests to be comfortable and seated appropriately, sure. But I definitely didn't appreciate the snap back and lack of reason when we said we were OK with a tight fit. Our server, Sunny(?) was nice and had smiles on his face and did try his best. We had our grill changed a few times and granted, we had to flag him down a couple of times for drink refills but nothing bad on his part. A couple of orders were missed upon placing it and we waited about 15-20 minutes before placing another one, but the second order we placed came out within minutes so I'm not sure what had happened to the other one, even though it said received. I did love the online-ordering as it made things so much easier. Flavor of the udon was good, and I enjoyed the miso soup + consideration for kids' cup. Slices of meat were appropriate being that you're able to order 10 at a time but I didn't like the size of how they cut the kurobata sausages and it just looked a bit skimpy. What is advertised as a sauce bar is more of a side/salad bar. Desserts they offered jello, which the kids enjoyed. read more

This spot offers three tiers for their AYCE grill: Silver, Gold, and Premium. We went with the Gold tier, which includes Australian wagyu. Next time, I'd like to try the Premium since it features Japanese Wagyu, which is something I think might make a big difference. The restaurant itself is very clean and has a really nice ambiance. They also have a salad and side bar with options like seaweed salad, pickled radish, cucumber kimchi, and more. I really enjoyed the cucumber kimchi, it was delicious, but the pickled radish was just okay. I've definitely had better. My partner and I tried both the sushi and the meats. For me, the meat wasn't as great as I hoped. The only one I found decent was the Wagyu bulgogi. The other cuts we tried tasted a bit dry and didn't meet my expectations, maybe the Japanese Wagyu on the Premium tier would have been better. The sushi was decent as well, nothing amazing but not bad either. Certain salmon pieces had an off color like the Salmon Sunomono but the flavoring was okay. Final Verdict: 3/5 overall, both the meat and sushi were okay. I thought the meat was really tough and hard even without cooking it for long. I might come back again for a special occasion to try the premium tier to see if the meat is better but it's probably not a place I'd visit on a frequent basis. read more

Since my daughter went back to NY, I and my wife wanted to scout some new restaurants, we went to Milpitas shopping center and saw this buffet, the prices seemed to be reasonable so we went in. This place used to be other buffets before, it's been changing many times, especially in a food center with all types of Asian restaurants. It's difficult to find a parking space in a huge parking lot on the weekend. We had to wait for a good 20 minutes to get a table for 2, quite crowded. There are a few tiers for dining, we chose the least expensive one for $36. The server was quite attentive and pleasant, the salad bar is plentiful with things we like. We can order from the menu 10 things at a time which is nice. The sushi appetizers are excellent. The beef looked fresh and tender only if you don't over cook them. We like the bulgogi very much. Marinated just right and tender. For the price and the services, this place is very good. We'll take my daughter here next time she visits. read more

This place is really good. The servers were attentive; the meat, sushi/carpaccio, and sides were all delicious; and the prices are affordable. They offer a wide selection, and the ability to order from your phone makes everything easy. The deal on AYCD beer is unbeatable too. Would definitely recommend! read more
