I have been a loyal customer of this restaurant and have ordered from them many times, but today's experience was incredibly disappointing. As shown in the attached photo, the portion size has significantly decreased. The rice ball on the right is nearly half the size of what we usually receive, and many of the other items had much less stuffing than usual. It's frustrating to pay full price for such a lack of consistency. I tried to resolve this through Uber app, but they were unhelpful and only suggested leaving feedback in the app. I hope management sees this and addresses their quality control.

I had heard a lot about Onigilly and finally decided to try it since it's inside the mall. It was def worth the visit. Some of the onigiri were decent, some were good, and a few were really great. My favorites were the Spam, spicy shrimp, and spicy tuna ,those were the best in my opinion. We also tried the vegetarian options, which were okay. Other good ones were the ume salmon and snow crab. Overall, it's a nice place with tasty food and definitely worth trying if you're in the area.

Hopefully this spot is here to stay because there has been a high turnover at this spot the past decade. This place has the perfect snack if you want something quick, fulfilling and doesn't cost an arm and leg. Who doesn't love rice??? So many different onigiris to choose from! I haven't tried them all but so far I've loved every single one I've ordered. You can order yourself on the kiosk which is my favorite thing in the world because I do not like human interaction. The food comes out really fast and everything is made fresh. Not gonna lie, I wish they stuff more toppings inside because it's mostly rice but hey it's mall food so my expectations can't be too high. Of course onigiris are much cheaper at the Japanese supermarket but it's the mall and we are paying premium price for convenience and a good time so I don't mind. It's still a decent price compared to other foods at the mall. Overall, this is a great spot to grab something quick and fulfilling to eat at the mall!

Great snack at the mall! The onigiri is delicious and reasonably priced. I like that you can collect points and eventually get a free spam onigiri. I tried the eel and spam onigiri, which was warm, seasoned and filling. I rather get this because it is definitely a healthier snack option at the mall.

To be honest, I'm pretty excited about all the new offerings at Great Mall lately which includes this Onigilly establishment. I first got to try Onigilly way back in the day at San Francisco and then was really excited it opened up in Valley Fair. Now we are blessed with a Great Mall location which is much closer than the other two for me. As it is relatively brand new, the store is bright and clean with pretty seamless ordering on the two kiosks located in the front of the store. The only pet peeve I can see here is that the receipt machine is shared between the two kiosks so you might have to awkwardly walk over the other machine to retrieve it. Food wise, I really think you cannot go wrong. There are various prices and various selections of Onigilly and others if you want. There is always something that will make you happy. I ordered 3 Onigilly's as a quick snack: - 2 Miso Tuna Salad - 1 Teriyaki Chicken It came out hot and I found it to be as delicious as I remembered it from the other two locations.

I was somewhat familliar with Onigilly since I tried it a few times at Westfield? I ordered: Teriyaki Mushroom Tuna Salad Everything was good, I have no complaints whatsoever. If anything, Onigilly is the healthiest food place in all of great mall. In terms of calories and price consumption. If you don't want to spend much money on food, just get one or two rice balls here. Great bargain

I wanted to grab a small snack for dinner, but for some reason I was craving the poke bowls. I really enjoy the varieties of onigiris. Custom poke bowl (5/5): I got the ginger salmon, tuna, and salmon. Not the most amazing, but really good for a onigiri place.

    Snow Crab Onigiri, Spam Onigiri

Orders are taken via kiosk and you pick up the onigiris at the right side counter. Employees are nice. Prices are very reasonable, they range from $4-5 for each onigiri depending on whether you opt for a basic onigiri or a deluxe one. They also offer bowls, but I was looking for a small bite so I didn't get the chance to try one. There were so many options it was almost overwhelming but in the end we decided on the Spam Musubi and Snow Crab. The spam onigiri was underwhelming, but the snow crab was good and very flavorful. My main complaint was the rice itself being dry and almost hard. Not my favorite! Overall I kinda regretted going here over choosing something else in the mall to eat. I probably wouldn't return personally, but it's a decent option if you're considering a light, small, healthy bite.

Excited to hear Onigilly has opened up at Great Mall. Came in at Friday for lunch. Their space is large and bright for take out counter service. They are located in between Old Navy and Potato Corner. Close to Jollibee mall entrance. There are two kiosks to self order. Give menu selection. Then you pick up the other when ready. We got the spam, baked salmon, unagi (eel), salmon ponzu poke and snow crab. Loved them all.

I was surprised to see a Onigilly here and had to make a stop. Slightly longer wait than I was hoping but the food was a good snack that hit the spot.

ready within 4-5min after ordering. solid onigiri and on-the-go lunch/snack. this came out around $4.80 (tax), but premium kinds are a bit more. not warm but everything tasted fresh. rice was super packed together and chewy like glutinous rice which i preferred. solid ratio of "meat". the soy marinade was not too salty and very bold. i will come back to try the other onigiris! the best hand roll/onigiri i've tried.

Although Taishoken is known for their tsukemen, I'll always opt for mazesoba if I see it on a menu. The mazesoba here is easily some of the best I've had in the Bay Area. The included piece of chashu is well-seasoned, fall apart tender and had a good balance of lean to fatty meat. The noodles are cooked to perfection and have a really nice chew to them. There is just the right amount of sauce in the dish, and the raw egg yolk adds a wonderful richness that coats each strand of noodle when mixed. Included with your mazesoba is a small side of vinegar. I would definitely recommend trying out the mixed mazesoba on its own -- without the vinegar, and adding in the vinegar about half-way in in order to try out a completely different flavor profile of the noodles. The acidity of the vinegar cuts through the richness and keeps you coming back for bite after bite. If you've never tried mazesoba before, I can't recommend it enough at Taishoken. I can't wait to stop by again for another bowl.

Honestly, I feel like I could recreate something similar pretty easily using kits from a Japanese market. The karaage, though, was super crispy and really good. The Salmon Shimeji Mushroom Spaghetti is listed as one of the more popular pasta dishes, and it earned that reputation. The cream and seafood flavors blended nicely. The risotto, however, was a bit of a letdown as it was way too salty for our taste. Since I mentioned we were celebrating a birthday, our waitress brought a sweet touch: two scoops of ice cream with a candle. We also ordered the matcha tiramisu, which was pleasant but not particularly memorable -- not overly sweet, but nothing that lingered either. There is a salad bar in the corner with salad and different dressings, edamame, spicy pickled cucumbers, pickled radish, bean sprouts, and kimchi. The spicy pickled cucumbers and kimchi were mild and not very spicy. Some of the tasted like they were a bit old and possibly not the freshest. The bbq food was alright. They forgot to bring out the steam rice to us and we eventually didn't want it bc we had so much food already. There was the wagyu fried rice and that was very buttery and delicious. I think the rolls are actually what's the best here. We enjoyed the California rolls, and fried California roll, and the ocean roll. The chicken karage, miso soup, and thicker wagyu meat are okay, I would probably skip those. On the menu it says it has crab in it but the only crab meat you get with it comes in a tiny claw that you have no way of digging out The nigiri, which I was most excited for, fell VERY flat. The fish wasn't particularly fresh and I found a bone in my nigiri. (??) The rice was also really dry and mushy. I was genuinely so disappointed at this. Miso sea bass was overly sweet which didn't really work with how fatty the fish was. It was too much. Also found more bones in the miso sea bass but that's less gobsmacking than finding it in your nigiri. The dessert, matcha tiramisu, just tasted like straight up cream and not sweet at all. I don't have a sweet tooth by any means but this could've used sugar. I didn't feel very good eating this, the fattiness of the cream plus not having any flavor ruined it for me :( Overall, the main theme is just the lack of seasoning in any of the dishes plus ingredients not being fresh. I know it's Kaiseki style, but the dishes also seemed very uninspired and plating was kinda messy. When I looked closely, the plates weren't clean and there were marks.. Maybe I'm being nitpicky but at a price point like this, the details matter. Word of advice, if you live in South Bay and want omakase, just take your $ and drive an hour up to SF. My bf took me here to celebrate our anniversary and I feel awful about how bad it was.. +1 star for the friendly service.
