    CHICKEN BENTO
    Ariana H.

This has to be the longest food court line, and I think it's for a good reason. My husband usually gets food from here while I go somewhere else, but this past weekend we both decided to switch things up. I was really hungry and wanted a meal that would fill me up without breaking the bank. The Chicken Bento Box definitely fit the bill. For only around $14, you get rice, chicken, 4-piece California rolls, veggies, and 3 dumplings. Other meats cost more, so I went with chicken. The chicken was tasty--nothing bad to say there. I was actually looking forward to the veggies surprisingly enough, but they tasted watery with a bit of a bad aftertaste. They were definitely frozen and not fully cooked or warmed through. The dumplings weren't my thing, but my husband enjoyed them. The California rolls were good and a nice, fresh addition to the plate. Overall, I'll try this place again next time I'm at the mall.

Company catering lunch, food arrived on time. We had their popular items: -chicken teriyaki: pretty standard item and seems like it's their signature item, I don't expect it to go wrong. -beef teriyaki: a bit salty when I ate to the 5th piece. It's saucy, so good to go with rice. -steamed mix veggie: bland but I don't mind it as it actually balance out the beef when rice is absent. -veggie spring roll: ok I guess, but I wish there are more veggie inside because once it's cooked, the veggies tend to shrink -shrimp tempura: without a doubt this is the hit item. Can't go wrong with fried food but the shrimp is big and the tempura coating isn't overly thick, it still tasted decent even after reheating, and I call that a success. -tofu miso soup: slightly bland. Overall not bad for a company catered lunch. Popular menu items, stable quality.

If you have never had a Bento Box, do not try it here. Seems like great Japanese fast food option but the only thing good is the meat, rice and noodles. The rest of the Bento Box was not good. Dumplings were hard and dry, salad was wilted and tastes moldy, sushi was fake crab rolls. All yuk. Only thing I finished was the meat and rice and noodles. They have an option to get only that. Recommend you do that and skip the Bento so you won't be disappointed.

I went walking around Great Mall with my mom to get some steps in. She told me about the promotion that Sarku Japan has for M to Wed right now where you buy one Chicken Teriyaki bento, get the second one for $5.99. We decided to get that and it was yummy! I finished everything! I would come back and try other dishes.

Ok where do I start ! I have never had real sushi before but I had to give it a try considering the speed and length of the line ! It was PACKED! But they moved so quickly I knew the food would have to be fresh because they were selling out and refilling like CRAZY! That's ALWAYS A GOOD SIGN ! Being in the mall had no effect on the ambiance what so ever if anything it made it easier to people watch and talk about how amazing the food was ! We are completely coming back to this place the next time we're back in Milpitas !

If you are at the great mall exhausted from all the shopping and want something to eat from the food court which is quick, tasty, fresh, delicious and comforting. Then Sarku it is. The lines are always super long but moves so quickly. Their speciality is juicy tasty freshly cooked teriyaki chicken(and other meats). Served on a bed of aromatic piping hot rice and freshly sautéed mixed veggies. I won't call it super healthy as the sauce must be loaded with sodium etc but out of all options available I think this is your best bet. Oh and it's quite cheap comparatively as well. For $10 you get a whole meal. I've also noticed similarly long lines and popularity of Sarku at Westfield valley fair mall. So it's quite a hit. Check it out and give it a try. You won't regret it.

Chicken teriyaki with all veggies. Per my request (no rice). 10/10!!

Located inside the Great mall food court. Their staff is friendly and the chefs know how to cook the food very well. I ordered the chicken teriyaki with all veggies instead of the rice option. The veggie portion was huge and the chicken was nicely sauced! There are other food options as well but this is my go to spot when I'm shopping at the Great mall. If you're indecisive and want a well balanced meal at a decent price give them a try. See pic for reference.

Chicken Teriyaki ($7.99 + $.80 for noodle upgrade) - this was a tuesday special!

Was at the mall when i saw a crowd for this spot, noticed they were having a special for the teriyaki plate on Tuesdays! Asked for no veggies and added Sriracha - Super good! Piping hot! Chicken cooked perfectly, They did not skimp out on the portion, Definitely a good deal! Waited no more than 10 minutes for my food

Only eat here if you literally have no other options and really must eat at the mall. Service was fast and semi friendly, rolls were ok but too sweet. I would probably opt for a teriyaki bowl or bento box if i desperately wanted food at the mall next time. There was pick up on the left and right so it was kind of confusing if they don't tell you where to pick up. ***Sushi pick ups are on the right side and pick up for everything else is on the left....

Very generous with the meat today!

Even with the low ratings here, this place is still fire! Always the longest line at the food court. I miss the good ol' days they would pass out samples. It would be a piece of chicken on an uncooked spaghetti stick like a skewer. I always get the bento box and add some sushi rolls. I miss the add on drink and eggroll to make it a combo for dirt cheap. They don't have that deal anymore! Once in a while they have Teriyaki Tuesday deal but on and off. They had a different deal this week but I forgot what it was. So long short, the promo changes. The staff is usually nice. They are pretty fast. You order and pay and go down the line. I always ask for extra sauce. I like how everything you need is self serve such as utensils, sauce, lids, plastic bag, etc. Plenty of tables at the food court. The food feels fancy for food court mall food. I highly recommend the bento box because you get a little of everything including sushi and potstickers! Soooo good!!! The price is not bad either. Don't be fooled by the low ratings!!! The food is fire here!!!

Whenever I'm at the mall, Sarku Japan is always my go-to spot for a quick and satisfying meal. Their Chicken Teriyaki is unbeatable--it's made fresh right in front of you, and you can really taste the difference. The portions are generous, the flavors are authentic, and everything is cooked to perfection. The fresh veggies and perfectly grilled chicken over steamed rice hit the spot every time. Whether I'm in the mood for something classic or a unique menu item, Sarku Japan never disappoints. If you're looking for a delicious, made-to-order meal while shopping, you can't go wrong with Sarku Japan!

This place is located in the food court at the Great Mall. When we went, there was a line, but we didn't really wait for that long to order and get our food. They cook and prepare the food in front of you. I ordered the Chicken Teriyaki Bento Box which comes with rice, chicken, vegetables, 3 dumplings, and 4 california rolls. The chicken tasted pretty good; the teriyaki sauce wasn't overwhelming and was sweet and savory. I wasn't a huge fan of the vegetables and how they tasted. The dumplings and california rolls were pretty standard. Overall, it's a satisfactory meal that does the job, but I'm not sure that I'd order here again from the options available at this food court.

My to-go place in this food court after exploring every restaurant there. The chicken is so fresh and well cooked!

I feel like I could have had a better experience, since it seems I went on an off day. FOOD: Fish Katsu (3/5) - First off, I felt that the oil used to fry the katsu was old. I had a strange filmy aftertaste with each bite. I kept dipping the katsu in the different sauces to mask the aftertaste but I stopped eating because I couldn't ignore it anymore. The fish used in fish katsu is cod, I felt like the waitress thought I was dumb for asking that question, even though it's not clarified on the menu. Sorry for asking... :/ It's normal for katsu places in Japan to have huge piles of cabbage so I wasn't surprised. The cabbage added a relief from all the fried fish I was eating. Miso soup was standard with nice big chunks of tofu; the rice was fluffy and light. Chicken Curry Katsu (3/5) - Chicken was juicy and plentiful, but honestly the curry had no taste. It added a that gravy like texture but didn't have that deep, rich curry flavor we think of when it comes to Japanese katsu. Usually at these spots you're asked how spicy you want the curry to be but here it's all mild, with no option to add your own spice. VIBE: Interior is simplistic, almost a little cramped. The tray that the food comes out on takes up the whole table space so don't expect to put anything on the table. It's very loud inside. Hard to have conversations. Also strict no outdoor food/drink policy. We were satisfied with the portions and, and didn't leave hungry, but still desired more from Katsu Gin. I'd love to give this place another try if I'm in the area.

I've been coming here for a long time, and it's one of those places that consistently hits the spot whenever I'm craving good sushi. The In The Sea Roll is a must-order and definitely one of my favorites on the menu. Great combination of flavors and textures, and it's something I find myself ordering every time I visit. Another thing I really appreciate about Sen Dai is their selection. They're one of the few sushi spots around the area that serves umimasu (ocean trout). The flavor profile is like toro. If you see it available, definitely give it a try. It's a nice change from the usual fish options. And if you're feeling something new, ask about their off-menu item: inari nigiri topped with spicy tuna. The sweetness of the inari paired with the spicy tuna is such a good combination.
