All of their food is from the cans, you are literally eating the canned food! Not fresh at all!

Dynamite Shrimp Plate

I had a $50 gift card that was ready to be used, so this gave me a chance to try this spot out. First off, I tried to order online, and the code did not work on the website, so I had to proceed to go and order in person. I ask for yuzu ponzu salmon bowl to have everything except green onions, and I received a bowl that has it =/ . You can definitely see the miso soup is two different colors. One is darker, and the other is lighter. The darker is the miso soup, and the lighter has no taste. It's literally just hot water and green onions. They forgot to flavor it, pretty disappointing. For the price point, it's expensive. I saw they charge me for the 3 plates + an additional charge of a regular plate since they asked me if I wanted white or brown rice. I'm not sure if that's right. I saw if I were to order online, there wouldn't be an additional charge of $16 for a regular plate. Of course, I had the gift card, but I didn't think it'll cost that much.

Large Poke Bowl (~$18) - 4/5 stars

Returned for another visit only because I had a 20% off code, and I enjoyed my bowl way more than last time. Highly recommend umami shoyu + sriracha aioli + sweet unagi sauce. I ordered with sweet shoyu last time and the ginger flavor was so overwhelmingly strong. I would really only come when there's discount codes. The poke is good but nothing that I'd go out of my way for.

Finally a place that does not skimp on their portions!! I had a pretty big order but the worker was super nice and patient with ensuring everything was made correctly. All of the fish was super fresh I would highly recommend the salmon bomb

Poke Bowl Large

I ordered the Poke Bowl - Large for take out, which comes with three choice of protein and a bunch of side. The portion was massive with all the sides available. Only down side is there wasn't a whole lot of fish despite getting three protein, but the sides made up for it. I ordered the spicy tuna, spicy salmon, and chili crisp shrimp, with the Pokeworks classic sauce and Hawaiian salt and chili. My bowl came out pretty spicy. I was sweating eating it, my tongue got a bit tingly (maybe there was Sichuan pepper somewhere?). It was packing a good amount of heat. Fish was very fresh and tender. You can choose any of the side you want, but make sure to get the Surimi (aka imitation crab) salad. Overall delicious, I had to put the leftover away to avoid over eating.

Strawberry guava fresca

We visited on a Wednesday afternoon and found parking on the street. I ordered the poke your bowl (customizable bowl) and chose Ahi tuna and shrimp and chose cucumber, edamame, Hijiki seaweed, corn, and furikake on white rice. The Ahi tuna is melt in your mouth soft and the shrimp and everything tastes so fresh! The strawberry guava fresca tasted good, a little bit of artificial flavoring. It's a good poke spot I would recommend it! The staff was helpful and the ambiance was clean and new-looking!

my boyfriend and i love this place since it's so convenient and nearby our place. we get this pretty often and sometimes it can be a hit or miss. today we got our 2 protein bowls and the portion size is lacking significantly. we used to be able to not see the rice but we see way more rice this time. it's giving chipotle stingy. depending on who the worker is, you'll either get a lot or get a costco sample size. truly ridiculous. we typically order pickup through the app but we might just start ordering in person to make sure we're not getting skimped out on our $18 bowl of poke.

Ponzu salmon

I placed a mobile order for a single scoop ponzu salmon with nachos but got... tuna with rice? I asked the staff about this mixup and they told me they ran out of salmon and nachos. Instead of refunding my order they insisted I accept the bowl for what it was. Essentially I paid $15 for a tiny bowl that wasn't even filled all the way. How on earth does this place have 3.9 stars?

Large bowl
Anna L.

A large bowl was about $22 total but it didn't seem like a big portion. Especially for some of the toppings I only got a small spoonful. That was okay but the real issue was that they gave waaaay too much sauce. It was okay when I first started eating but as I got near the middle of the bowl, everything included the rice was drenched in sauce. It was also so incredibly salty that I couldn't eat it anymore. Had to throw away the rest even though I wasn't full. So unfortunate.

As of July 2024 their prices are $16.95 for a regular size (2 proteins) and $19.75 for a large (3 proteins). Pretty solid place to get poke, not much to complain about. I got a regular bowl with salmon and the quality was not bad. Also they don't charge any additional cost for seaweed salad or imitation crab which is always a plus! There's a decent amount of seating but it's all long tables so may not be able to accommodate many different parties of people.

Found this spot searching for poke on google! It's located under apartment buildings and there is a parking garage with designated spots. We were greeted and serviced right away by the employees. You can choose a bowl from their menu or create your own. There are two bowl sizes, regular and large. I chose to create my own regular bowl with salmon and additional toppings. The only add on was the avocado for $1.50. I also got a mango lemonade which was super refreshing and not too sweet! The bowl itself was quite enjoyable, the fish was fresh and I liked the crunchiness of the wonton chips! Overall super good poke spot. Our total was around $40 for two bowls and a drink, which is pretty standard for poke. I'd definitely come back and try different items off the menu!

Found this place down street from where I work and hands down one of the best poke places I have tried so far in the Bay Area. This has to be my next go to place if I am ever craving poke in the area! I placed my order online website and it was super easy to navigate through. As you walk inside, it's very clean and organized, a ton of places to sit down as well. There's a free parking garage you can park at which is a nice bonus! I ordered a pick 2 with half white rice, half salad with spicy tuna and spicy salmon. This has to be easily the best combo they offered so far, I mean the flavor is just super fresh and delicious, you can't go wrong with this at all. By the time I finished it, I felt like I needed more because it's just that amazing! For those that love spicy, I would add spicy Sereno aioli to the side for the addition flavor. Overall, one of the best poke spots that I have been to so far! Just wished the portions were a little bit bigger in my personal opinion. I will be definitely coming back to try their different protein options!

Poke is pretty good a little less spicy than what I usually get other places. I like spicy side. Good amount of selections to choice. Parking is okay. Parking is in a garage and have to walk to the store. I do recommend this place.

They definitely don't skimp on the filling, the sandwich was packed with flavorful chicken, and the sauce paired really well without overpowering everything else. I'd definitely come back and try more from their sandwich selection. They also have a good variety of drinks and coffee options. Parking was easy with plenty of space in the back. The restaurant itself is spacious, clean, and has both indoor and outdoor seating with plenty of tables available. The menu is clearly displayed on the wall, and ordering was quick and efficient.

Portions are huge and one sandwich is plentiful which can be easily shared among two people for sure. Nowadays, the experiences aren't the same anymore and perhaps, it's been under new people management or something. It's been lacking some logistics and sometimes, it's difficult to hear the order being called out while lots of customers are inside. I told the front staffs that I wanted my portobello chicken sandwich $15.99 and the watermelon beverage $7.99 for here/dine-in. I even left them over $3.50 tips here. While everyone else picked up their orders very fast, mine was stuck somewhere in between others. They all got table numbers except me. I even asked if I needed a table number since I was planning to dine-in, but nobody answered or wanted to respond. They were too busy preparing sandwiches. Wait time to receive order was a bit over 15 minutes. I ended up standing around waiting and waiting, thinking about why I even tipped the place when my anxiety levels were escalating. Without a table number, how would they even know which table outside to deliver my orders to? Portobello chicken sandwich was very good though. Ingredients are full. Ciabatta bread was huge. This thick sandwich can definitely feed two people. Watermelon beverage tasted good too. Tables weren't all wiped down outside, but I can see the few employees hustling and bustling. It's still a strange feeling to not have a table number assigned to me while others did have one. Overall, sandwiches are still good and portions are generous. People love coming here. I think the staffs need more management briefing. They are all hardworking, but the front counter service leaves an impression and feeling about the overall experiences here.

Although Taishoken is known for their tsukemen, I'll always opt for mazesoba if I see it on a menu. The mazesoba here is easily some of the best I've had in the Bay Area. The included piece of chashu is well-seasoned, fall apart tender and had a good balance of lean to fatty meat. The noodles are cooked to perfection and have a really nice chew to them. There is just the right amount of sauce in the dish, and the raw egg yolk adds a wonderful richness that coats each strand of noodle when mixed. Included with your mazesoba is a small side of vinegar. I would definitely recommend trying out the mixed mazesoba on its own -- without the vinegar, and adding in the vinegar about half-way in in order to try out a completely different flavor profile of the noodles. The acidity of the vinegar cuts through the richness and keeps you coming back for bite after bite. If you've never tried mazesoba before, I can't recommend it enough at Taishoken.
