Terri Teriyaki Chicken Mini Meal, rice and cabbage

The food is always amazing! For fact these cooks put a lot of love into their food. The staff is awesome, the Manager is the most professional individual, so compassionate and generous, for a really young guy he caries a very good attitude and handles his costumers like family; he goes above and beyond the call of duty to make this environment family friendly I give them a 10 star rating at being the finest restaurant in Milpitas and San Jose! I will share this information with all my family, friends and business colleagues alike. Thank you Ono Hawaiian BBQ !!!

Grilled fish aloha plate with salad

The Easter deals here are fantastic. I got the grilled fish aloha plate with salad for $8 through the special offer, and the grilled fish is my new fav protein here. It was spiced pretty generously and quite flavorful, I didn't even feel the need to add any other sauces or toppings. Quick service and massive portions, this lasted two meals. Very convenient location near gyms, grocery stores, etc

It's been awhile since I've come here but the bf wanted to come. It was just okay. Service took some time to get our order. Food was okay. Could use some seasoning. By bf enjoyed the teriyaki sauce over the katsu sauce. I preferred the tartar sauce especially with the fish. The veggies were bland. The Mac salad I liked as it wasn't too much mayonnaise. Wished there were more carrots. Most of the tables were occupied when we went. Some of the wall paper was peeling. Definitely needs an updating.

Chicken Katsu

The quality of this place has significantly went down. They fill the box mostly with cabbages and a few pieces of katsu to make the box full. This was really disappointing. The only thing good about this place is their teriyaki sauce.

They offered an $8 special for the Seafood Aloha Plate for the entire month of April. Choice between the Crispy Shrimp, Lava Shrimp, or Island White Fish. My wife and I always enjoy the Island White Fish: 3 pieces of Island White Fish, 3 Scoops Rice with 1 Side Fresh Mix Salad!

Good for a fast meal. Got the island fish. Prices aren't bad. Fish wasn't salty and was pretty soft. Not super fresh but it works. Rice was a bit harder than it should be.The beef is better for sure. But not terrible for a chain. And it does remind me of my hometown at least. Service is ok. Inside was pretty clean. Parking lot in front!

For a chain, usually you know the food will be consistent. The price will be reasonable. People will typically not eat at the location. And it's really just more cookie cutter. But sometimes, somethings stand out at a particular chain that makes just a bit better than other "ordinary" chains. Ono is consistent. There are no surprises. But at this particular location? Angel is pretty awesome. Super nice and provides great service. He has been attentive and pleasant. Made my visit to Ono pretty great.

Honestly extremely disappointed with how bad the customer service and portions have become here. Ordered a combo plate and the NPC taking the order insisted that Mac salad was not included (completely wrong, have gotten Mac ONLY at times with same order) So we ended up having to order 2 sides of Mac salad... and they gave us spam musubi?? The portions of meat are ridiculously small for $17, attaching a photo of what we got Yeah, you guys need to get your shi together. Never coming back again except to get my refund for the Mac salad, y'all deserve to be closed down permanently

Island Spice Grilled Fish - DD

Unremarkable, but ok for a quick fix. Ordered the island spice grilled fish during their random $7 plate specials. Originally it would be $17 for the meal. Definitely not worth it at $17. Fish was barely seasoned, and quite mushy. It wasn't flaky like I'd expect fresh fish texture to be. Ordered a side of Mac salad that was also unremarkable. The mayo had an off taste and was quite watery, as if it was old. L&L still reigns supreme when it comes to Hawaiian bbq chains. Ono just can't hold a candle to their competition.

Shout-out to: Angel, who helped me during the YELP x Ono Hawaiian BBQ event Carlos who gave me info on how to place an Ono Family Meal Alyssa (I think this her name, she worked in the btwn 12pm to 1pm on Sunday, Dec 17th) who gave me extra utensils and followed up diligently about my Ono Family Meal - really appreciated they were able to accommodate 2 meats vs 3 meats and have my order ready since I was an hour early! My entire party loved all the food and left with happy tummies, no leftovers here!

lol- maybe I should've thought this through- before I said "ToGo!" Hee.

I'm so glad I looked up a chicken place that was tropical nearby me and I was lucky to have come across this little gym!! I had no idea they had fresh young coconut and I bought one as takeout before I realized I would literally have to carry it in a bag as I drive! Lol The young coconut was delicious and fresh, and I was able to scrape out all the coconut meat at my house! I got the chicken combo for my friend and she loved every bite of it and she's a picky foodie let me tell you!! She ate it over two days and she was really surprised that the flavor stayed as she reheated it on the stove top the second day! My barbecue chicken, luckily had no monosodium glutamate in it, which I'm highly allergic to! Being a foodie this sucks, and I can never eat Asian, soy sauce, or different Latin dishes because of this! I'm so happy I found this little gem of a place and my server was incredibly helpful, and I love the open atmosphere and relaxing Hawaiian music. They played in the background!! I've been back twice since this last visit, and I will be back again! Oh yeah, and my son, who is super picky, loved their spam musubi which is a side!!

My husband always gets the Lau Lau - when we go to Hawaii he always has to get plate lunch, this fits the bill and then some. Chicken katsu is awesome - really tasty, great crunchy outside. The sauce is a bit sweeter than I like it, but I generally just eat it without. I have done both the mixed BBQ chicken and beef - and then I also have done them as single option, always delicious. Again, great portion size. And I get it with broccoli, which is just steamed and super fresh tasting, absolutely love it. We love the appetizers - spring rolls and gyoza - so you get a little bit of everything here. Gyoza appetizer size is so generous - 10 usually? Hubby also gets sesame balls, not my jam, but he loves them! Actually if they had jam, I might like em, ha! I think they are meant to purposely not be too sweet, which they meet that requirement.

I was quite stuffed from eating pizza and wings, but I couldn't let him go hungry so we came to Hukilau for dinner. Soon as you enter there is a seating area right there. High tables and regularly hight tables. The back wall is a full bar. As you approach the cash register you can can see that there is another room in back. We were greeted by a waiter that led us to a table in back. They have sets of tables around the outer edge and tables all pushed together in the center. The menu is pretty extensive. We ordered the Salmon Poke bowl that had rice along with the salmon and a side of macaroni salad. There were other sides to choose from, but all my friends rave about Hawaiian macaroni salad so I order it. The macaroni salad was only ok. I'm just not a macaroni salad type of girl. The poke was good. The salmon was fresh and didn't taste too fishy. We also ordered the Mahi Mahi grilled with rice and macaroni salad. We split both plates. I've never have filets of Mahi Mahi before. They always seem to arrive in square shapes or something that resembles a square. I was really impressed by the Mahi Mahi. It had great flavor without needing the tarter sauce. It wasn't fishy at all and was well salted and peppered. I highly reccomend the Mahi Mahi platter. The ambiance was ok, nothing special. Defiantly not romantic. I guess it's good for families and groups. There were 2 familes of 6 dining with us. The back room was spacious and I don't know how to describe it, but i lacked a Hawaiian flair. We could have been sitting on picnic benches and it would have been given the same flair. If you are looking for Hawaiian food you've come to the right place. Just know there isn't an island feel to it.

I have Fire and Rice on my to try list for awhile so very happy we got to try it. The food was really good. I got the poke nachos and it's made with the wonton chips. Final Thoughts: 4.33/5…read more They were our caterer for a work party. This is a food truck and they seem to have everything ready to be served to us. Asian fusion foods are typically my go-to choice and so I was very excited that they were providing us food today. Food: Garlic Fried Chicken Bowl: 4.3/5 The sauce on this is divine with the chicken. It's like an unagi sauce with garlic in it. It has some saltiness, sweetness, and that umami flavor. Garlic taste and scent is present, but not too overpowering, which I really enjoyed. That flavor is great, but some places really overdo it for me. Just a personal preference though. For the chicken itself, it's very tender and juicy on the inside and still has some of that nice crunch on the outside. Perhaps this is because the cut of meat is the chicken thigh. It's not super crispy because I don't believe this is being fried to order for us. Seems to be food held in a warmer until its ordered. Kimchi was the side that they had provided with this dish and I am here for that. Some people aren't the biggest fan of this and I saw that from the looks my coworkers gave it. Personally, very much enjoyed it though. That sourness and spice from the kimchi just balances out this bowl really well. The veggies are nice and crispy. Gives it that freshness. Also, very slight detail and addition, but I always enjoy the sesame seeds and furikake sprinkle as a garnish. There's a nice nuttiness to it that they provide as a simple garnish. Spicy Tuna Poké: 4.0/5 This item was alright. The flavor was also really good, but I did get tired of eating just one type of poke protein. Typically when I go to get poke, it's 2 to 3 scoops of different proteins with various sauces to change up the flavor. I did get tired of this one after a few bites. The flavor of this item was very good though. There's a nice kick from it and the flavor tastes like a mix of kewpie mayo, soy sauce, sriracha, and sugar. Very simple, but you can't go wrong with those flavors. For the side, they added seaweed salad. Again, not your average side dish. Personally, I enjoyed it, but it might not be a common or familiar side dish for other individuals. It has a nice sweetness and nuttiness to it. For texture, there's a nice bite to it, which is ncie since the tuna is very soft and doesn't contribute much to the texture component. Menu: Small Their menu seems quite limited, but again, that is normal for a food truck, I believe. The items they provide do it just fine for me. I appreciate that they also have an option for the vegetarians. The menu we were provided was limited to 4 items, which is fine since the scale of this party wasn't anything too wild and we were able to satisfy everyone with what they provided. --------- Quality: Alright The quality of the food seems OK. It came out within a few minutes for us and I don't think it takes just a few minutes to fry that piece of chicken. I could be wrong though, so no one quote me on that. Just an observation. Not the highest expectations because their limited to the space and area in general. The product they provide is very good though. Overall, for something that has raw seafood in it, it seemed quite fresh and tasty. The items aren't made to order either and it's more assemble and serve to order, but again, they seem to be making it work with the product that they are selling. Price: Estimated Because this was a catering event, I am actually unaware of how much my administrator paid for the food. What I know is that she paid for a certain amount of bowls. From the looks of this item though, I want to estimate the price of each bowl being around $16 to $20 depending on the food item provided. Seems quite average for a bowl of food these days. Service: Quick and fast Because most of the food is already prepared and ready, the interaction with them itself is very limited. They took our order and provided us with the food. Nothing too significant to note and that is to be expected with the food truck. They were very sweet though and explained the menu items to be when I had a question. Ambiance: Simple and cute food truck The design on their food truck is so cute. The riceball is my favorite because it has this very cute face and just looks darling to me. The outside has a simple design with the name and logo on top and then perhaps some of the food items they provide written on the bottom section of the truck. Doesn't seem like anything too fancy, but simplicity is best for me. Location/Parking: Wherever they travel and navigate to Because they're a food truck, they can drive to you, which is really convenient. On Yelp, it states that their located on 36 Commercial Street in downtown, which might be where their truck is serving most of the time. Again, it is a food truck though, so they have the ability to drive to you and travel around to their customers, which is quite convenient is reaching a broader group of people.
