We found this place near my Airbnb...we read the yelp reviews so willing to give it a try. Mind you, my gf is Japanese and has a very "discerning" palate for Japanese food. Plus, we just returned from Japan a week ago so the awesome food (with great prices, thanks to a strong dollar) was still fresh in our minds. Well we were very impressed with this place! We ordered the vegetable tempura, salmon poke bowl, and Ichiban roll. I don't eat certain seafood and they were willing to replace the crab and eel in this roll with extra salmon. Not many places will do that. It was busy with people coming and going, but our food came out in a very reasonable time. The poke bowl had more salmon than expected and the roll looked as amazing as it tasted. This place definitely compared to the places we ate at in Japan, and let them know. Absolute killer value for money The California roll was massive and probably one of the best tasting ones I've had in a long time. Ngl when we opened the boxes I got a whiff of fishy smell but the sushi did not taste fishy at all. Very clean flavor with large slices of fish on top. The ambiance is still about the same as it was before - a random convenience store that you can enter through the side of the building, blue painted walls and a decent amount of seating. The wait does take a while, but service is friendly enough. They did seem friendlier as of late (I'm unsure if this was because of my friend being with me as they've come to this place more often than I did), and remain generous with their food portions. You can get six pieces of California Rolls or Fire Rolls for only five dollars (it actually used to be 8 before they changed it), which is honestly a steal when they taste just as good as the California Rolls in any other place. This essentially means that you could get around 24 pieces of sushi for only twenty dollars, which is rather cheap in comparison to other places (I would suggest only doing this if you have a friend with you). Overall, my experiences here have been pleasant. Sushi Day has done a good job standing out from other places and I would be more than happy to return again for their sushi rolls. read more

Finally got to try Sushi Day after passing by it for several years! I wish I got a chance at the previous curry pizza spot that Sushi Day shared the space with, but not meant to be. Stopped by to place in person on a Friday afternoon. Very clean space, no one really there since it was around 1:30 PM. I'm not sure if there was only one cook/ staff but seemed like he was the main person there at the time! We ordered 3 rolls which took about 15-20 mins as the staff estimated to make: Orange dragon roll, Baked Spicy Tuna, Tuna Lover. For the price and how close the sushi spot is to me, it's pretty good. I would say the size of the rolls are average and feds 2 people well. Definitely orange dragon roll was my favorite which was a salmon, tempura California roll (with avocado). Everything tasted well together and my mom who doesn't like raw fish also enjoyed the orange dragon! The baked spicy tuna had scallops on top of a spicy tuna roll but I didn't really notice the scallops, which was fine since this was mainly for my mom. The Tuna Deluxe roll was tuna over a spicy tuna with avocado and I think I noticed how fresh the avocado was. Overall really good ingredients though and reminiscent to AYCE sushi spots. It had been too long since we had sushi and didn't want to go out so I ordered over the phone and 30 minutes later, bada bing! I ordered my usual Hamachi Deluxe and Ichiban while husband ordered the Rainbow and Lion King. I was surprised that the Ichiban had cooked fish and crab inside, so I must have ordered the wrong one because those are not my faves. My toddler doesn't eat sushi (yet) so I ordered their chicken appetizer and come to find out they top it with delicious sauces. I had to sacrifice and eat the exterior to give him the chicken inside. It was far from punishment but an unexpected surprise- next time will say sauce on the side. Unfortunately they do not sell a cup of plain rice so I had to make do at home for the kid. It's a very small place that's combined with a pizza store. There are a few tables/booths for you to sit at so I don't recommend eating there with a big party. I recommend doing to-go if anything.
