    Miso Soup
    Sonya E.

Stopped in for lunch with a friend. We arrived right when they opened and were seated right away. The guy running the tables wasn't so friendly but perhaps was having a bad start to his day. We ordered two miso soups, an order of Gyoza, and oysters to share. I had the Dream Box and my friend had one of their Bento plates. Don't sleep on the oysters -- presentation is gorgeous and their toppings coupled with the sweetness of their selected oysters are impeccable. My Dream Box was a bit of everything but also of elements I really appreciate from the Japanese cuisine -- fresh ingredients, thoughtfully presented, and paired so well with complementing flavors to enhance the experience of every bite. Looking forward to my next visit. Hopefully, the service isn't as harsh the next time. But anyway, bravo to the masterminds behind the curation and development of the menu. Love that this spot is an option for high quality sushi in North San Jose.

I came here with a large party of 10 on a Sunday afternoon and got seated in 5 minutes. The provided water had cucumber and mint inside. We ended up ordering 16 items, and I specifically picked out the Caterpillar Roll to try. The menu is big and had a lot of photos. I really like the vibe of this place. It's very pretty inside, there are a lot of hanging plants, some nice bar stools, and a small fish tank. The takoyaki was hot and good. Edamame was decent. I like the yellowtail roll - I didn't even know that there was jalepeno inside because it was crunchy but not spicy. I liked the caterpillar roll too, I felt like the eel and crab play together well. The Lion King roll had cooked fish but still tasted good. We got a few sashimi salads and they were cool. Finally, the pumpkin roll is super underrated. I didn't think I would've liked it as much as I did. We ended up ordering 4 more items to bring our total to 20. I was satisfied, but not super full. Overall I think this is a good sushi spot with a ton of options.

Salmon Avocado Roll and Unagi Avocado Roll

I needed a quick bite and found Yoshi Sushi on Doordash. I really enjoyed the Salmon Avocado Roll and Unagi Avocado Roll. Everything was fresh and flavorful. The sauce added a little "something-something" but wasn't overpowering or overwhelming. They did not scrimp on the seafood either!

One of the worst dinner experiences I've had. We arrived at 8:30 PM, and it took nearly an hour for the majority of our rolls to come out. We were told this was because our orders weren't placed at the same time through the QR code system, which was extremely unprofessional. There's also an automatic 18% gratuity for large parties but felt unreasonable given how poor the service was. It's unclear what the gratuity was actually going toward, as dine-in customers didn't seem to be a priority (vs take out). The food was decent at best, but nothing that stood out or made the wait worthwhile. The total bill came out to roughly $45 per person. At that price, there are far better options. I'd honestly choose AYCE over this. Definitely not a place I'd return to.

    Salmon Belly & Warriors Roll

Came here around 1 PM on Sunday and got seated right away! Good amount of seats for dining in :), they also do takeout and are on doordash which is great! For food we ordered the warriors roll which was delicious with the crispy onions. Loved the sauces on top as well too, 9/10! The salmon belly was as fatty as you'd love it. Super yummy and pricing was about $18.99 for 5 pieces, which sounds pricey but is pretty normal for sashimi nowadays. Loved both items. Would come back for sure!

I recently visited Yoshi Sushi in San Jose and tried their popular Love Tray along with a few additional items. The menu offers a wide variety of sushi and combination platters, which makes it a convenient option when you want to share and try multiple selections in one meal. The staff were friendly and attentive throughout our visit, and the overall atmosphere felt comfortable and casual for a relaxed dining experience. Items we ordered - Love tray: Assorted nigiri, assorted sashimi, tekka maki, California roll, tempura, two chef's special rolls, served with miso soup. A very large platter that is great for sharing and allows you to sample a wide range of sushi in one order Toro nigiri: Rich and buttery tuna with a smooth texture Sushi rolls: Nicely presented with enjoyable flavor combinations and good variety I also appreciated the traditional presentation touches such as fresh wasabi and sashimi served with shredded daikon and shiso leaf, which added to the overall experience. Portions were generous and the platter felt like a complete sushi spread that could easily feed two people or more. Overall, this is a solid spot in the area if you are looking for a large shareable sushi platter and attentive service. It is a convenient choice for casual meals with friends or family and for those who enjoy trying a little bit of everything.

Fresh and delicious sushi at an affordable price. If you come after 9pm they have a happy hour special for 10% off all their food If you are to get 1 appetizer here you have to get the chicken karaage!!! It's so juicy and flavorful with the perfect amount of crispy

Really good rolls and service. First time trying Chawanmushi and it's really good! Wish this place was closer to home!

Super fresh sushi and convenient ordering on my phone. We got the sashimi special and two orders of rice, along with a roll. The cuts were pretty big and we loved the wide variety.

    My order

Shit service. I ordered pick up here and the receptionist gave me a nasty attitude and didn't even say thank you. I refuse to do business with a business that mistreats customers. Never coming back here again.

The sushi here is incredibly fresh and beautifully presented. I tried uni for the first time, and it was surprisingly sweet with no fishy taste at all. The baked mussels were delicious, and I especially enjoyed the sweet potato roll. The dream box was so pretty and offered a great variety to eat from.

Came by to satisfy some late-night sushi cravings and was not disappointed! The overall restaurant was clean with lots of seating available. Side note- the decor is so cute inside! The menu is on a scannable QR code, which is never my favorite. However, service was quick and that made up for it. They also offer food delivery, so there were many people coming in/out picking up delivery orders. Because of the wide variety in sushi rolls and other options, we decided to split three specialty rolls among three people. We got the Pink Lady, Warriors, and unagi avocado rolls. Perfect amount of food for us! I really enjoyed the unagi avocado roll and the Pink Lady was very refreshing/light tasting. Overall, I'm excited to try the other items on the menu the next time I visit.

I doordashed my order and it came well packaged with a lot of ginger and soy sauce! The fish was fresh and my rolls weren't falling apart even though they had to travel a bit to get to my apartment.

Although Taishoken is known for their tsukemen, I'll always opt for mazesoba if I see it on a menu. The mazesoba here is easily some of the best I've had in the Bay Area. The included piece of chashu is well-seasoned, fall apart tender and had a good balance of lean to fatty meat. The noodles are cooked to perfection and have a really nice chew to them. There is just the right amount of sauce in the dish, and the raw egg yolk adds a wonderful richness that coats each strand of noodle when mixed. Included with your mazesoba is a small side of vinegar. I would definitely recommend trying out the mixed mazesoba on its own -- without the vinegar, and adding in the vinegar about half-way in in order to try out a completely different flavor profile of the noodles. The acidity of the vinegar cuts through the richness and keeps you coming back for bite after bite. If you've never tried mazesoba before, I can't recommend it enough at Taishoken. I can't wait to stop by again for another bowl.

Honestly, I feel like I could recreate something similar pretty easily using kits from a Japanese market. The karaage, though, was super crispy and really good. If you go, I'd recommend just getting one dipping noodle dish to share and ordering a bunch of appetizers instead -- otherwise it ends up being way too much noodle. Or go to Tsujita

The sister and I ordered takeout to eat at our parents house for an early Mother's day celebration. Our total came to about $220 before tax and tip. We arrived right before they closed for their dinner prep at 1:40 PM, so we were worried they might not be able to seat us or that we'd feel rushed, but our server was amazing. We're huge fans of raw fish, especially when it comes to sushi, and the hamachi and toro were incredibly fresh--melt-in-your-mouth good. I barely even needed to use any ginger, which says a lot about the quality and freshness. We ordered a ton of appetizers, but the real stars of the meal were the baked scallop roll and the baked mussels.
