Orders take out through Uber Eats because there's bogo on the crunchy California rolls. Crunchy California rolls (5/5): Comes with 8 pieces per order. It was crunchy and filling. I always get this! Hopefully I come back to try their other dishes.
We picked up takeout from this yoshi, the tonkatsu bento, and three sushi rolls. I ordered through doordash. The order was not ready until 10 min after estimated time, so no rush to get there. There was not alot of people in the restaurant. After eating the food I can see why. The tonkatsu was not seasoned at all, and neither was the sushi rice. It made for a rather lackluster meal. We prefer the other yoshi locations.
Yoshi Sushi exceeded my expectations. Even though I went at a weird hour, the fish was super fresh. The warriors roll and tokyo breeze were both delicious in their own ways, and I liked that they didn't overload the rolls with rice. The soft shell crab was SOOO crunchy. The food came out super fast too. The restaurant was pretty quiet when I went, but I can imagine when the store is busy & during dinner it would be popping. Also for the amount of food that we got, the bill was super reasonably priced.
They have table service, but you order via QR code and they bring everything to the table. Liked that they dropped off water, ginger and wasabi right away. I ordered the salmon teriyaki plate. It had good flavors, unfortunately the salmon skin was burnt. Hubby's hamachi Kama was also over cooked. Thus, 3 stars.
Yoshi Sushi is serving up incredibly fresh sushi and sashimi, flavorful yakitori, and beautifully curated sushi boxes that feel like a full experience, not just a meal. The rolls are thoughtfully done too! Super fresh ingredients. The unagi don was amazing--perfectly glazed eel with that rich, smoky-sweet flavor over warm rice. And the toro? My fave bite! Service was great and this location was super clean. Can't wait to come back!
Stopped in for lunch with a friend. We arrived right when they opened and were seated right away. The guy running the tables wasn't so friendly but perhaps was having a bad start to his day. We ordered two miso soups, an order of Gyoza, and oysters to share. I had the Dream Box and my friend had one of their Bento plates. Don't sleep on the oysters -- presentation is gorgeous and their toppings coupled with the sweetness of their selected oysters are impeccable. My Dream Box was a bit of everything but also of elements I really appreciate from the Japanese cuisine -- fresh ingredients, thoughtfully presented, and paired so well with complementing flavors to enhance the experience of every bite. Looking forward to my next visit. Hopefully, the service isn't as harsh the next time. But anyway, bravo to the masterminds behind the curation and development of the menu. Love that this spot is an option for high quality sushi in North San Jose.
Sushi is really fresh and they are open late so great place for that sudden craving. After 9pm they have happy hour so it's 10% off for some items. Service is really friendly and you can order straight from your phone using the barcode. Inside they have a bar with a fish tank and a good amount of seating. There is plenty of parking if you go at night but can get pretty hectic for lunch. They also serve ramen which isn't bad either.
Raw fish was super fresh and everything tasted clean Sushi rolls were solid, and the service was fast and friendly. Of course we had to do sake bombs --made the night even better! Thanks!
I needed a quick bite and found Yoshi Sushi on Doordash. I really enjoyed the Salmon Avocado Roll and Unagi Avocado Roll. Everything was fresh and flavorful. The sauce added a little "something-something" but wasn't overpowering or overwhelming. They did not scrimp on the seafood either!
I came here with a large party of 10 on a Sunday afternoon and got seated in 5 minutes. The provided water had cucumber and mint inside. We ended up ordering 16 items, and I specifically picked out the Caterpillar Roll to try. The menu is big and had a lot of photos. I really like the vibe of this place. It's very pretty inside, there are a lot of hanging plants, some nice bar stools, and a small fish tank. The takoyaki was hot and good. Edamame was decent. I like the yellowtail roll - I didn't even know that there was jalepeno inside because it was crunchy but not spicy. I liked the caterpillar roll too, I felt like the eel and crab play together well. The Lion King roll had cooked fish but still tasted good. We got a few sashimi salads and they were cool. Finally, the pumpkin roll is super underrated. I didn't think I would've liked it as much as I did. We ended up ordering 4 more items to bring our total to 20. I was satisfied, but not super full. Overall I think this is a good sushi spot with a ton of options.
One of the worst dinner experiences I've had. We arrived at 8:30 PM, and it took nearly an hour for the majority of our rolls to come out. We were told this was because our orders weren't placed at the same time through the QR code system, which was extremely unprofessional. There's also an automatic 18% gratuity for large parties but felt unreasonable given how poor the service was. It's unclear what the gratuity was actually going toward, as dine-in customers didn't seem to be a priority (vs take out). The food was decent at best, but nothing that stood out or made the wait worthwhile. The total bill came out to roughly $45 per person. At that price, there are far better options. I'd honestly choose AYCE over this. Definitely not a place I'd return to.

One of the best things I've experienced is eating at Yoshi Sushi and eating the Love Tray. First off, plenty of parking inside the plaza and also wasn't busy on a Wed evening. It's a QR code to order your meal and the service was very quick. Our water cup was also kept full. It's very bright and welcoming inside and comfortable seating throughout. Onto the food, my friend and I ate with our eyes, lol. The Kaisen box was so delicious and the assortment of fish and crab tasted fresh. The star of the show was the Love Tray. The rolls came out first and each one was delectable. Good portion of rice to fish ratio. The nigiri and the sashimi came next and the beautiful range of fish was too pretty to eat! We finished off with the tempura ice cream which is pre-cut for you. The meal was absolutely amazing and I'll be back! read more

When Flaming Ox closed due to a power outage, we were fortunate to find this place open. My daughter and I sat at the bar, which had a relaxed atmosphere and wasn't busy for a weekday. Spotting a delicious-looking sashimi plate at the next seat made me eager to try their sushi. The menu featured a wide variety of dishes, including sushi rolls, soups, and specialty plates. Still, I found myself not fully in the mood, likely because I was disappointed about Flaming Ox. I ordered a dragon roll and, craving California rolls, decided to get two. My daughter chose the chicken teriyaki plate and really enjoyed it. The sushi was so fresh that I saved my extra California rolls for lunch the next day. I'd definitely return to try more of their beautiful rolls or sashimi plates. Service was decent overall. We waited a bit to place our order, but the food arrived promptly. There was a moment when our server took a while to return, and I grew so thirsty I almost went searching for him myself. Fortunately, another server noticed and quickly brought me water. I'm glad I discovered this restaurant in the same shopping strip as Flaming Ox. It was odd that one side of the strip lost power while the other remained unaffected. read more

Came by to satisfy some late-night sushi cravings and was not disappointed! The overall restaurant was clean with lots of seating available. Side note- the decor is so cute inside! The menu is on a scannable QR code, which is never my favorite. However, service was quick and that made up for it. They also offer food delivery, so there were many people coming in/out picking up delivery orders. Because of the wide variety in sushi rolls and other options, we decided to split three specialty rolls among three people. We got the Pink Lady, Warriors, and unagi avocado rolls. Perfect amount of food for us! I really enjoyed the unagi avocado roll and the Pink Lady was very refreshing/light tasting. Overall, I'm excited to try the other items on the menu the next time I visit. read more
First timer here at Yoshi Sushi for a work team building event. We each ordered our own entree, and a dragon roll, edamame and sashimi deluxe to share. It was just enough food! We didn't finish the edamame though, and I took my food to-go (unagi don) - ended up eating it later. The edamame was not good. Not well seasoned and the quality was not good. However, the sashimi deluxe was quite a treat and the fish was very fresh! Nice presentation! Dragon roll was your typical safe bet roll. Can't go wrong with it and it always hits the sushi craving spot. As for my unagi don that I got it was amazing! A little bit too saucy that made it salty. I have not seen this place get busy which I was surprised because they have quality fish and beautiful plating. I came here on a Saturday night and had no issues just walking in for a seat, even only seeing maybe 3-4 parties dining here while we were eating. Service was fine but I could see them preoccupied a lot from take out orders. Overall, I'd come back and for those who haven't been, I'd recommend the dream box and baked mussels. Great sushi! Our group tried the love tray, dream box, chawanmushi, and baked mussels. Everything was delicious! Service was friendly and attentive and the environment was cute and tidy. They have a little lighted tree up in the corner right now for the winter season which added coziness. Highlights: The variety of sashimi types for both the dream box and love tray was a good range. The chawanmushi was excellent and had a variety of things inside like mushroom, fish, and shrimp. Rolls were tasty; I especially enjoyed a chef special roll with mango inside and salmon on top. I see now why many people who live in San Jose say Yoshi is their favorite sushi place! I had been wanting to come see for myself and it did not disappoint. read more

You would think Japanese at a plaza would be ideal, but it's the thought that counts. I ordered the shrimp tempura bento with 2 tuna nigiri. Let's start with the subpar salty miso soup. Rice with I guess soy sauce with furikake on top was mid, dunno what they was thinking adding furikake on top would do something but it didn't. Cali rolls we're mushy and meh. Shrimp tempura was okay. The salad was great tho! Appreciate it but yeah I won't be coming back for redemption read more

Came right when it opened on a Sunday and service was Quick. clean restaurant with nice decor, booth and regular table seating. Food was delicious. I would highly recommend the giants role. The online menu was a bit hard to navigate using the search function for salmon roles did not bring up all the results. After scrolling through all the options I found what I wanted. Came here around 1 PM on Sunday and got seated right away! Good amount of seats for dining in :), they also do takeout and are on doordash which is great! For food we ordered the warriors roll which was delicious with the crispy onions. Loved the sauces on top as well too, 9/10! The salmon belly was as fatty as you'd love it. Super yummy and pricing was about $18.99 for 5 pieces, which sounds pricey but is pretty normal for sashimi nowadays. Loved both items. Would come back for sure! read more

I was craving some sushi & saw this place on DoorDash. I thought, why not. It looked good, had decent reviews and reasonable prices. The Baked mussels had a ton of imitation crab, I'm not sure whether it was supposed to come like that or not. I think due to that, the mussels didn't have much flavor as it was hiding underneath all the crab. I did enjoy the masago on top, it was a nice touch. This would've gone very nicely with some white rice had I known. The fried oysters were pretty good. They came with a mayo- like sauce that was pretty tasty. I asked for lemons that went very well with the oysters and the sauce provided. Lastly, my main reason as to the 3 stars and my main reason for ordering from this restaurant. I ordered the crunchy California roll. It was pretty cheap compared to other sushi places so I'm not too surprised. I ordered this thinking it would be crunchy and taste like your typical California roll. It was quite the opposite, it was very mushy and appeared very undercooked. I've never seen sushi like this. It unfortunately wasn't tasteful and I ended up not eating it. I would maybe give this place another try if it were in person but on DoorDash, never again. read more

This restaurant is tucked between a Noah's Bagel and dentists office and although there is a big parking lot, it's often busy and parking may be difficult to find. Albeit, I went on a Monday for lunch and the restaurant wasn't terribly busy but had enough patrons that seemed to really enjoy their time. There are no physical menus and instead is a stand with a QR code to order online. Their menu is quite extensive with sushi, skewers, and ramen, rice plates, and more. Ordering was a breeze and the dishes came out promptly. Our server only came by to drop off the dishes and fill our water. If you prefer a more "hands off" / uninterrupted meal then this might be for you. The food was alright- decent and easy, nothing to write home about. My only qualm was that the spicy miso ramen broth was not as flavorful and although did have a kick was quite bland and watery. Rolls were large and filling. Appetizers of tempura and calamari were crispy and not too heavy, which was nice. Tataki tuna slices in the salad were massive! The salad was beautifully refreshing and the cuts were very generous, easily the dish that shone for me. The space is clean and inviting. This is a nice place for a casual meal if you're in the area, but I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here. read more
The interior of this place is great, definitely suitable for date nights or a night out with friends. Tables and seats were very clean and they offer a good amount of booth seating! Staff were very friendly and patient with my party. FOOD: *Naked fish roll -- Not my first choice because I let someone else order and I prefer a slab of sashimi to top my rolls, but still a good filler that wasn't overloaded with sauce like so many other places nowadays :) If you like tempura but still want some veg, this is the roll for you. Spicy tuna could use a bit more of a kick, but overall still tasted fresh. This roll is filling w/o being too hearty and smt about the way they prep the green onion just hits different lol. I'd like to come back and try other rolls + their sashimi!! It looked so beautiful on the menu and in person when a neighboring table ordered it. I went to the Milpitas (McCarthy Ranch area) location a few years ago and have to say this Brokaw location is a huge improvement. Not only is there more space -- the service is fairly quick, everything was clean, the food was plated nicely with good roll sizing, and the menu has an extensive but not overwhelming selection! I can't handle wasabi or horseradish, but the person I came with absolutely loved how fresh the wasabi was here. PARKING: You might have to walk a bit since this plaza is on the smaller side with lots of food/drink spots and a City Sports. We came on a Thursday afternoon and were lucky to find one that was a 1-2min walk away. Either way tho, max walk time for a farther spot I'd say is 4min so you're fine. read more

Yoshi Sushi is in the revolving door of a location in North San Jose on Brokaw and Old Oakland. That spot has changed so many times over the years. I only notice, because it's next door to my dentist office. It's on the same strip as Noah's bagels. The parking lot is always crowded, but if you can find a space, there are lots of dining options. I decided to give Yoshi a try after a recent dental cleaning at Cheer Dental. Yoshi's is bright and modern with a full bar on the wall opposite the floor to ceiling windows facing the parking lot. There were a few customers when I walked in, and a few more came after. You use the QR code on the table to order. I tried the Karaage Chicken, Salmon belly nigiri, and Shrimp Tempura Roll (shrimp tempura, crab & avocado). The chicken was in tiny strips and did not taste like the traditional karaage seasonings. I did not enjoy that. The salmon came with a little black tobiko and was lightly charred. Didn't like the texture on those. The roll was okay, but the rice was kind of mushy. I was not impressed with the items I tried. If you are in the area, Yoshi's might be worth checking out, but I wouldn't make a special trip out there to eat at Yoshi's. read more

A solid spot for some pretty good sushi in SJ! We got the Dream Box and Chirashi Don. The Dream Box was absolutely beautiful and featured 9 different dishes curated by the chef. Super generous, thick cuts of fish and really interesting (in a good way!) combinations! No two dishes were the same and it felt like we were taken on a culinary ride. I will note that it was more of a one time treat as it's quite pricey. The Chirashi Don was definitely our favorite! It was packed with rice and so much fish. If you're looking for value without sacrificing quality, this is the way to go. read more

The sushi here is incredibly fresh and beautifully presented. I tried uni for the first time, and it was surprisingly sweet with no fishy taste at all. The baked mussels were delicious, and I especially enjoyed the sweet potato roll. The dream box was so pretty and offered a great variety to eat from. read more
