This has been my go-to brunch spot for a year. I was disappointed that they took the ceviche off their menu (it is AMAZING), but I did like the new brunch menu in general. But I have updated my review because the service for today's brunch was slow and very disappointing. We arrived at 12:45 starving and ready to eat and 20 minutes passed before our server came. It seemed to take forever for the first course to come and then we sat for another 20 minutes for the second course. I was tempted many times to go to the bar and order directly from there. The new menu is good. We really liked the shrimp aguachile, edamame, huevos rancheros, and churrasco. The quinoa and zucchini tiraderos were meh. I'll be back, but I doubt I'll run like I used to. read more

Actually the food is pretty good and the design of the bar area and outdoor space is inviting and on trend. But the hostesses, as directors of first impressions, are what knocks three stars off. We have been staying in a suite at the JW for a week now and the arrogant young ladies at the front haven't a clue about good customer service. After we stood near the empty stand for quite some time past our reserved time, they acted immediately put off by the very presence of patrons arriving to dine. We were well dressed and smiling in anticipation of a nice date night on the hotel. Most of the tables in the bar area were empty at our arrival. So the non verbal and annoyed demeanor of the hostesses' was rather off- putting. As a former hostess in college, the most important rules I learned were NEVER let them see you sweat when you're in the weeds, don't have a power trip as you don't own the place, but one must always make everyone feel as a welcomed guest in your own home. Hence, you are the Director of First Impressions for the entire establishment. When they showed us to an ill placed two top in the middle of the overflow area, we promptly refused because it was like sitting in the median of a busy highway. When we asked for a quieter spot, we were offered another two top just inches away from a six top of noisy businessmen. At this point we were annoyed by the lack of basic hospitality skills. We did take our seats near the 6 top as we truly didn't want to be annoying, but the business bros seated inches away from us just wasn't what we'd planned when we made reservations for a nice and relaxing dinner date. So, we begrudgingly went back up to the host stand to request a better seat in the vastly empty bar area and we were refused due to other reservations who hadn't shown up on time (we were prompt for our reservation time and this was several minutes past arrival time. Early bird catches the worm?) Visibly annoyed, the hostess took us back to the dark, uninviting back room and offered us a four top near the bus station. At this point we were not looking forward to dining here so decided to leave. These girls need training to stay on par with the price point of JW Marriot and Toro. On another note, we've dined here almost daily for breakfast and they are understaffed and food and service is inconsistent. I've never seen the presence of a manager, which may be the source of all the issues. So, off to Hillstone we went where service and food is always consistent and impeccable and they are happy to see us. read more

Attended a dinner in their private dining room. The service was excellent and professional. The menu options were unique and had a great variety. Our group ordered a variety of starters, dinners, sides and desserts. Everyone in the group loved the food and cocktails one drink (Mexican Old Fashioned) was served from a smoky decanter. At first I was a little disappointed with the menu, very limited and small for brunch. But what they have to offer was delicious. And the service was great! And the atmosphere is very cute. Started off with the fruit, very fresh and colorful. The mango purée was a great addition to it. The Colorado bison skewers and el pastor pork belly tacos was our favorite! We had to order a second round. The beef hash and enchilada and ceviche was okay- probably would not order that again. The eggs Benedict was very filling, the only thing I would change is the bread with be thinner and a little crispy but it was very fluffy and soft. This is our first time at Toro and ended up sitting at the bar for dinner. Service and food were amazing (Derek the bartender was especially great). We split the burrata and I got the Lomo Saltado which is made with filet and was incredibly flavorful. Burrata was very fresh and they split it for the two us. My better half got the petite filet which comes out on a steaming cast iron dish. Chimichurri was delicious and balanced and the (I think) chipotle ketchup was great as well. Overall, highly recommend; one of the best meals we have had in denver in a LONG time. read more

Food was very good and flavorful. Especially enjoyed the slightly chewy dough on the empanada. The Peruvian ceviche was also quite good. My wife loved the heirloom and burrata salad. Bison burger was good, bun was a bit dry. The issues were 1) service was lacking. We were seated then essentially forgotten for quite some time. Then follow up service was ok but not at all deserving of 5 stars. 2) more important to me were the unexplained upcharges. I didn't make a thing of it at the time but we ordered the empanada appetizer and without clarifying this with the ordering party they added empanadas at $5 each to match the number in our party. That would be ok if it was clarified as they really had no idea if everyone in the party was sharing this appetizer and if this was wanted. Second non-disclosed up-charge was when I specifically ordered the Oaxacan Old Fashioned from the menu. I was asked if I'd be interested in Stranahan's whiskey, I thought this was odd as I was ordering something very specific from the menu that specified the ingredients including a corn whiskey as well as specifically Laws Rye whiskey (should be premium spirits included in this premium cocktail already at $17. Anyway, I'm pretty certain I didn't actually get the cocktail I asked for at all. I did get a very good old fashioned that came nicely adorned in a Smokey decanter; however this was now $22 or $23 and during serving he described this was a "Smokey old fashioned." Again, the cocktail was good, but this wasn't what I ordered. In retrospect perhaps I should have been more questioning, but when I asked for the Oaxacan Old Fashioned and again asked before he left the table that I was indeed ordering this and he said yes, I expect to get that cocktail and the charge listed on the menu for that cocktail. What came on the receipt wasn't that, it was Stranahan's cocktail or something to that effect. Anyway, I just think that is a deceptive practice. Perhaps intended to take advantage of tourist and/or business clientele that don't really care. I just moved to the neighborhood, so this puts a bit of a sour taste in my mouth when considering whether we return any time soon. Also, don't get me wrong either, I will pay $22-$23 for a cocktail, but that is Dead Rabbit, Death and Co, or ambience like The Campbell; or other world class level premium cocktail price for me, and this was not that. read more

The outdoors is invited right in with large openings to a courtyard that has less formal eating areas and more "hang with your group" areas. Beutiful inside, classy. Had the empanadas and swordfish dip appz, both of which were very good and devoured by the table. Our waiter didn't come to us for like 10min + our appetizers came out before we get our drinks, actually we already where done with appetizers and still haven't have a drink at our table . Toro has an intimate, fine dining atmosphere with a Latin flare. From the starters, to the wine, to the main course, to my interactions with the servers, I greatly enjoyed my entire experience here. I think the steak I had here was one of the most perfectly cooked pieces of meat I've ever had. I was also reluctant to try the empanadas with the corn filling, however, they ended up being a great option. The price is not cheap but definitely give this place a try if you're looking for somewhere to celebrate a special occasion. read more

I really wanted to give this place more than 3 stars but the service was horrendous! We had a reservation at 615 and while we got seated right away everything from placing our order for drinks, apps, food and then getting our drinks, apps, food, dessert and coffee took forever! We ended up spending 2.5-3 hours there and most of it was sitting around waiting for someone to come take our order or bring us the food/drinks. And it can't be blamed on them being busy. While the restaurant had quite a few people in it it wasn't packed, overflowing with people and crowded. The food though was delicious!! We got the empanadas and ceviche for an app, the filet with trumpet mushrooms, the bison burger and the lomo saltado. For dessert the crepes layer cake. The waitress did not steer us wrong on the food selections. Overall I would recommend eating here but be forewarned it could take a long time to dine. read more

I came here Friday night with some girlfriends for dinner. We were greeted by the guy who opened the restaurant and he let us know that they were brand new so we were excited--we had no idea they just opened. They have a beautiful build out and have really cool patio seating. Our server was amazing and super friendly the entire night. He gave us great suggestions for our food and drinks. Ambiance: A perfect spot to enjoy a nice meal and drink in Cherry Creek inside the Marriott. They have a cozy outdoor space with string lights. Food: I had the Skirt Steak with Fries and the Corn Soup. Can't go wrong with that. The soup contains an almond milk froth that added a smooth texture. We were visiting Denver as a quick birthday respite and stumbled upon Toro via Yelp. We were looking for bottomless mimosas and the reviews mentioned bottomless brunch - we were sold! The restaurant is located inside the JW Marriott hotel, just past the lobby. The space is modern and had a mix of indoor and outdoor seating, with tables adequately spaced apart to comply with Safer at home restrictions. We had reservations and were promptly seated. The server arrived and explained how the bottomless brunch and drink options work. The bottomless brunch was a flat fee for any of the items in a specific area of the menu, ranging from appetizers to dessert. The bottomless drinks is an additional $20 and includes several types of mimosas and bloody marys, a margarita and an old fashioned cocktail. We opted for both and were glad that we did. You have the option to sample each item from the menu to help decide your final meal or to dive straight in and order whatever you'd like. We went with the sampler approach. A few highlights from the menu: the ceviche and bison skewers appetizers were both great. The cevuche was Peruvian style, which i enjoy. The main course were good, we especially enjoyed the shrimp enchiladas and beef hash and reordered them again! My companion had the mini Belgium waffles for dessert and enjoyed them - I was too stuffed and chose another mimosa. A couple of notes - the food is served to order, making it easy to swap out ingredients if you have allergies or preferences (we do not). There was live music to set the mood for a mellow brunch experience. The brunch is high quality and worth the price... we definitely plan to return. read more
