I'm not going to lie. It is not cheap food, meaning it's a little pricey but hey you're at the beach so why not. At least try it once. The quality of the food is pretty good. The strawberry milkshake is to die for because coming from me I do not like milkshakes. They are normally super sweet and thick. This one at Tin Fish was the right sweetness and not thick. I can easily suck the whole thing that. This large drink is $8 something. We ordered a combo platter which had shrimp, fish and calamari and supposedly clams as well but they didn't have any. When we ordered they told us they didn't have clams so we opted for more fish substitution but they didn't do that when we picked up our order. My husband had to speak up and they gave us an additional three pieces of fish which I thought was fair. My husband and son thought the calamari was one of the best because it is hard to find good calamari. The fish and shrimp were good. My husband also ordered a fish taco and we both thought it was ok. Anyway, overall a good experience. The wait time for food is a little much. Also, finally got to try this restaurant as we see it all the time especially when you're done walking on the pier coming down the hill. Definitely will be back for the milkshakes. $27 something for the combo appetizer platter read more

Came across this place because I checked out Oceanside Beach, I went at the right time it was not crowded and it was just nice. The water was a little chilly but that didn't stop me from walking in the water. The pier was nice and got some great photos and on my way back to the car I came across this place. The price was ok but I'm sure it's a little high due to the fact that it's a beach setting. The menu was not too much and I did not wait long for my food. The benches did have a lot of spider webs on them and the bees and flies were around which made eating sort of annoying. I got their crab cakes which were moist and very good. I got their bacon cheeseburgers and it came with fries. It was a big portion and was not able to finish. My colleague got a fish taco and she said it tasted very fresh and would recommend it. The location is convenient to get food in to go boxes and go sit on the beach. However be weary the food can take a very long time when they get busy. We waited 45 minutes for 2 tacos and 2 kid's quesadillas. We visited twice within our trip and I'll mention the first time I ordered a fried fish and shrimp plate. The girl repeated it, I paid and waited. When I picked my food up I noticed no fish. When I asked the cashier she said I only paid for a shrimp platter, I told her i ordered the fish and shrimp platter. She tried to get me to pay extra but ended up giving me the fish for free. While waiting for my fish, I overheard ANOTHER customer come back saying she ordered the salmon platter not a salmon taco. Again they told her she had to pay more. Every seat in the house is VIP because you're right on the beach in lovely Oceanside. This unassuming food hut has tables and benches only feet away from the beach. You'll want everything on their extensive menu. If you want grilled or fried, salad or chowder they have you covered. If there are clamstrips on a menu trying them. I got the clamstrip combination box. It comes with a hardy portion of clamstrips, crispy waffle fries, and a non-mayo based coleslaw. I was able to make a few meals from this entree. My guest picked the grilled Mahi Mahi sandwich. It was the size of a poboy and came with coleslaw. My guest also had thr onion rings and highly suggested everything they ate. No leftovers were in sight. The prices are pretty good for the quantity and quality of their dishes. I will definitely return and highly suggest you check it out. Huge portions!! Buyer beware! These fish tacos are gigantic, nothing like Baja Fresh or any chain restaurants. Just one is $5.95 and has a larger than normal flour tortilla, more like fajita size not taco size, and two giant pieces of fish. I had cod and the fish was so fresh and flaky, it just falls apart. I also ordered the Famous fish sandwich plate that comes with crosscut fries and coleslaw. Their slaw has a tasty vinegar based dressing and fries were perfectly fried. I was too full at that point to eat the sandwich too, but it was also massive with two huge pieces of fish on a really good soft roll. They are able to crank out a lot of orders from this tiny place, sit at one of the tables and wait for your name to be called. Lots of opportunities for people watching while you wait! read more

Good fresh fish, good portions, friendly service, lots of seating and shade. I got the half platter of fish and chips for 9.50 and the portion was still great, really good cole slaw. I got my son the kids fish and chips which came with apple sauce and soda or juice, his portion was also really good. My only complaint is that the line takes a long time to get through, it seems like they're short staffed. I think the same person taking the orders is making the orders, so it takes a long time per person to even get to order. Maybe that was just today though, I'm not sure because because despite living here my whole life, I've never tried Tin Fish. In the heart of Oceanside and right below the pier, is a superb location. The weather is perfect, the ocean is glistening and life is beautiful especially because there is this special place called Tin Fish. My friend and I came here and we ordered fish and chips. I ordered cod while she ordered halibut. Oh my gosh! It was the best fish I've ever had. It was fresh, flaky and tasty. They serve each basket with waffle fries or regular fries, lemon wedges, coleslaw and tartar sauce. Surprisingly the "regular" order was huge! It came with 8-9 medium sized pieces of cod only for $14.50 + tax. The fish was great and so were the fries. I'm very finicky with coleslaw and unfortunately it wasn't too my liking. However the fish and fries were a hit and it was definitely worth the price! There are plenty of seating available and for the most part, people were wearing masks in the vicinity of the business establishment. Whereas if you went further out to the beach side, there were hardly anyone practicing social distancing or wearing masks. Other than that, the atmosphere is chill and fun. There was music playing and there were quite a bit of food vendors out. It's not like how it used to be when I used to go to the beach.. I've tried the food at their location near the Convention Center. I really enjoyed the food here as well! Yay! Today I ordered up a Fish (cod and 3 piece) and Chip combo and a cup of New England Clam chowder. The fish is cut into narrow strips and dipped into a nice, light batter. It was accompanied with a side of waffle fries and a tiny container of coleslaw (more like pickled) which I loved. It also came with a container of tarter sauce and a slice of lemon. My soup was very flavorful, had little chunks of potatoes and clams. I didn't even notice if it had a good amount of clams because I ate it so fast! My husband shared his shrimp with me and that was lightly battered and fried to perfection like my fish. Off to the side of the 'pick up' window are the condiments, which includes malt vinegar. There is seating in front of the stand (no umbrella's). Can't find a table that's available? Do not fret, you have the amphitheater off to the side with stage seating. Or place yourself on the sand and enjoy a bite and a great view of the water. I know I will return for some fish tacos! Great place to people watch. If you like sandwiches and fish, you're going to love the fried cod sandwich! My order took sometime and I was getting impatient but I'm happy to report that the sandwich was well worth the wait. The bread roll was super fresh and warm and reminded me of a French baguette. It had the crispy outside and the fluffy and buttery inside. Surprisingly good seafood served in a prime location under the pier. Everything about this place just screams tourist trap, from it's central location under Oceanside Pier to the ample outdoor seating and elevated prices. I probably wouldn't have come here if I wasn't already at the beach, but that would have been a mistake. The food is actually worth a trip on it's own. The menu consists of mostly breaded and fried seafood that comes with standard sides like waffle fries and coleslaw. But what makes it stand out is the quality of the seafood and the thoughtful execution. Both the fish and shrimp that we ordered came with a delicate breading that was fried perfectly to retain all of it's moisture. The result was a textural feast. Even the waffle fries were perfectly crisp without any hint of sogginess. As someone who enjoys fried foods, this was much appreciated. The biggest surprise however, may have been the fish sandwich. I am no fan of adding unnecessary carbs to an already fried dish, but the softness of the roll really made the sandwich work. Unhealthy? Absolutely. But I ate it all and regret nothing. read more

Waiting about 20 minutes in line and another 15 for the food but its very busy so that's to be expected. Ambiance can't get better then being right by the beach. My issue comes in as I do not eat fish, i get physically nauseous if I do. I ordered their chicken fingers (which are ridiculously tiny) and fries. The chicken tasted so much like fish that I almost puked after my first bite. I had my husband try one and he truly thought it was a fish stick and not chicken. Came here on a Saturday afternoon with my husband to try this place out but didn't like it very much. We got their fish plate and fried halibut chips and we're not impressed. The breading on the fish was subpar and taste was very generic to what you'd expect for a fish and chips place by the ocean. Pricey too for what you get but you are at the beachfront. We were actually impressed by the fried cod tacos. They are built on an 8 inch flour tortilla and have two solid pieces of fish in each one, the same size pieces you get in the fish and chips. I Always sample the wares a la carte before I taste the whole package or add sauce bc I want to see if the ingredients stand up on their own. Fried cod tender and well fried, not greasy Cabbage slaw - another surprisingly good item, a little sweet with a good acid balance. Cross cut fries - great texture, not soggy or greasy, seasoned well. Shrimp taco, 6 pieces of shrimp somewhere between the size of a quarter and a 50 cent piece. I was here yesterday with no mask and enjoyed a wonderful fish and chips platter. Today they decide to put out a "masks required" sign. So I approached the small window to order, similar to the windows fast food have created with plexiglass, and was immediately turned away. There were tons of bees swarming our food as we ate, and they kept coming back immediately after we shooed them away. My husband and I came to O'side to celebrate my birthday weekend away from the Arizona heat. Once we checked into our hotel we made a beeline for Tin Fish. We've talked about returning there for literally over a year, and when we decided to make the trip to CA, we knew Tin Fish was "on the menu" (pun intended). We each got the Fish, Shrimp and Crab Cake Combo, and then when our order was called up, we remembered why we usually share an order. There is so much food, it's simply too much for one person, even a very hungry person. However, the food was every bit as awesome as it was when we first had it two years ago, so it was good to know the quality remains excellent. Had we been staying for a full week like we usually do, we would have returned for a second meal there later in the week. The clam chowder is pretty tasty, too.
