Tin Fish is located right under the pier and on the beach in Oceanside. We ate here many times and service has been great. Food, chips, clam chowder and pretty much everything on the menu is worth trying. This place can get busy at times but they move rather quickly. Vibe and noise level is ok but expected since it's right on the beach. 5 stars overall

I've been wanting to try Tin Fish for a while (their Instagram always makes me laugh), so I finally stopped by and it did not disappoint. It's in such a great spot right under the pier in Oceanside, which already makes it feel like a win. I got the dragon fruit bowl and really loved it. The fresh fruit on top was perfect, super refreshing and just what I needed that day. Only thing I'd say is it would be nice if they had a half size option on the menu. It was a lot to finish, but still really good. Overall, I enjoyed it and would definitely come back. Thanks Tin Fish!

My family has been coming to Tin Fish for well over a decade. We've always counted on consistently amazing food and friendly service, which is why today's experience was so disappointing. When we arrived, the young men working the shack were ignoring customers waiting in line to order while they ate ice cream and joked around in the back. It gave the impression that customer service was not a priority. Unfortunately, the food reflected that lack of attention as well. The fries were cold and completely unseasoned, the coleslaw tasted different--and not for the better--and our fish was served without the usual lemon. Those may seem like small details individually, but together they made for a very disappointing meal. I realize I'm fortunate to be in a position where I'm complaining about food, but when you spend $70 for three takeout plates, it's reasonable to expect the quality and service Tin Fish has always been known for. This was the first truly bad experience we've had in all our years of coming here, and I hope it's just an off day because we'd love to continue supporting a place that's been a family favorite for so long.

Just came through for the pier and stumbled upon this place. I love fish tacos. These had really good flavor. Just needed some hotdauce for my personal preference but tacos were super tasteful and filling. Came with a good amount of fries too. Enjoyed the views of the boardwalk, pier and beach. Dessert stands are feet away! Glad we got to try this place.

Second time being here in a 10-year span and we still love the food as much as we did the first time, you really get a lot of food for what you are paying, we spent about $88 for three meals and it fed the four of us and we still had some extra boxes of waffle fries left. The Mahi Mahi plate was probably our least favorite though compared to the crispy combo and the large shrimp taco plate.

I don't come down to Oceanside often, but during a quick day trip to the beach, we discovered a great spot for seafood and more! As we walked down the pier, we didn't seem to have a lot of options for lunch. So, as we walked down to the beach, we noticed Tin Fish at the bottom of the stairwell. We checked to see what was on their menu and noticed that they had a great variety of seafood, burgers, acai bowls, and shakes. I ordered the jumbo shrimp with fries and my husband ordered the grilled mahi mahi sandwich with onion rings. They gave us a little buzzer and we waited for our food to be ready. It didn't take long for the buzzer to go off. Since the weather was nice, we opted to eat our lunch out on the beach. When we opened up our food containers, we were pleased with the size of the portions of food that we got. It was enough to fill us up without overdoing it. One thing that I don't like is when food is unseasoned. Tin Fish's fries had some type of spice on them that tasted like Cajun seasoning! It was great! The fries would have been fine without ketchup as well. The shrimp was evenly breaded and also cooked with the same seasoning! I was very pleased! I really liked that our time in Oceanside led to us discovering new places that are a quick train ride from OC. I enjoyed the food at Tin Fish so much that before we caught the train back to OC, we ordered an orange cream float before we left. We will definitely come back to Tin Fish when we venture back to Oceanside later this year.

tin fish is located below the pier and the location makes it a super hot spot, we were in line for about 45 minutes, and with that, prices are also pretty steep. i got their fish n chips which totaled to around $23. portion was not bad but still did not justify that price, fish were crispy and fries hit the spot though, cole slaw was good too.

Tin Fish is located on the Oceanside strand. It's a little stand with outdoor seating. There's plenty of seating with umbrellas The view of the ocean is great. You order at the window. They give you a number and call it out from the pick up window. They have a great variety of options, mostly fried. I got the clam chowder because I'm at the beach! It was thick and full of potatoes. I would've liked more clams. I did not love it. I did love the fish tacos and onion rings! The fish taco was a nice portion. I couldn't eat it all. The portion size was great. I would definitely come back here again. Prices were reasonable.

Codfish tacos were delicious and the shrimp combo platter was amazing. Fun little spot under the pier staff was so kind

Got the fish sandwich; both husband and I loved it! The portions were good and the fries were good as well. Food came out within 10 mins. And of course being right below the pier the ambiance is fantastic! Great vibes and great food!

Fresh hand cut thick long French Fries without a ton of seasoning or oil arrived: one with a cashew cheese truffle sauce, one with no salt, and one salted as requested. My daughter loved her reuben. I loved my blt. The two Caesar salads for the table disappeared quickly because their dressing is unbelievable! Let's see .... what didn't we eat is probably smarter than what did we eat. Beet ketchup, The C Word (braised cabbage), a couple of cronic sushi rolls, and there was a special lemon creme brûlée. Everyone enjoyed everything they ate, including my almost 3 year old grandson (they brought out a specially sliced fruit bowl for him). They offered many choices for kids, but he just wanted fruit. Hope you had as wonderful a Mother's Day as I did. Yes. We appreciated eating healthy and not walking away stuffed but instead satisfied. They were selling plants. So I bought 4 and planted them today! The gift that keeps on giving! We will be back for sure! With garlic, gusto & gratitude, Chef Marian

After our experience, we were so happy we found Nick's as we visit the area frequently and will be back many more times. The tuna tartare was one of the best we've had - and I'm obsessed with tuna tartare. Their chopped salad was also super delicious as was my fish sandwich and my husband's entree as well. Later, Kaitlyn brought out our butter cake, and what started as a quick interaction turned into one of those unexpected conversations that give you a different perspective and refresh that we all need every once in a while. The food was just as impressive. We started with the Spinach & Artichoke Dip, which was the perfect appetizer. For dinner, we ordered the Center Cut Filet, Cha Cha's Spicy Rigatoni, and the Buttermilk Fried Chicken. Every dish was fresh, flavorful, and something we'd happily order again. If you're thinking about dessert, do yourself a favor and order the butter cake. It absolutely lives up to the hype. What stood out most, though, was the people. Working in a restaurant can be overstimulating and exhausting. Everyone we interacted with was kind and welcoming. It's easy to enjoy a great meal, but it's the people who make you want to come back. From the service to the food to the atmosphere, the entire team is doing an incredible job. Thank you to Jacob, Kaitlyn, the manager, kitchen staff, and everyone else who made our evening so enjoyable. We'll definitely be back.

Such a fun, laid-back beachy vibe and the location is perfect. You can kind of see the water, but more importantly you can FEEL it. We walked along the pier afterward which was a great way to end the night. We were both pretty jet-lagged and I wasn't feeling my best, so we unfortunately couldn't eat as much as we wanted. The birria tacos were definitely the standout! Tender beef, cheesy, crispy on the outside and SO good. I would 100% get those again. I got the pollo asado taco bowl with cheese. The chicken and grilled veggies were fresh and good, but I found myself wishing it had something a little more substantial like rice. Nuzz got the carne asada mulitas and loved them. Very cheesy and he'd definitely order them again. We also got chips and guac, which was fresh and definitely worth ordering. The salsa wasn't really our favorite since we prefer it chunkier. You scan a QR code at the table to order and pay, which was pretty cool, and the food came out FAST. The staff was really friendly too, especially the guy who helped wrap everything up when he realized we weren't eating much. Bonus points for the Cokes in big glass bottles! The tap water, however... not so much It was kind of warm and definitely not my favorite. My only real disappointment? NO FISH TACOS! At the beach!! Definitely somewhere I'd go back to when I'm feeling 100% and really hungry. And those birria tacos are happening again!
