Tin Fish is located right under the pier and on the beach in Oceanside. We ate here many times and service has been great. Food, chips, clam chowder and pretty much everything on the menu is worth trying. This place can get busy at times but they move rather quickly. Vibe and noise level is ok but expected since it's right on the beach. 5 stars overall

I don't come down to Oceanside often, but during a quick day trip to the beach, we discovered a great spot for seafood and more! As we walked down the pier, we didn't seem to have a lot of options for lunch. So, as we walked down to the beach, we noticed Tin Fish at the bottom of the stairwell. We checked to see what was on their menu and noticed that they had a great variety of seafood, burgers, acai bowls, and shakes. I ordered the jumbo shrimp with fries and my husband ordered the grilled mahi mahi sandwich with onion rings. They gave us a little buzzer and we waited for our food to be ready. It didn't take long for the buzzer to go off. Since the weather was nice, we opted to eat our lunch out on the beach. When we opened up our food containers, we were pleased with the size of the portions of food that we got. It was enough to fill us up without overdoing it. One thing that I don't like is when food is unseasoned. Tin Fish's fries had some type of spice on them that tasted like Cajun seasoning! It was great! The fries would have been fine without ketchup as well. The shrimp was evenly breaded and also cooked with the same seasoning! I was very pleased! I really liked that our time in Oceanside led to us discovering new places that are a quick train ride from OC. I enjoyed the food at Tin Fish so much that before we caught the train back to OC, we ordered an orange cream float before we left. We will definitely come back to Tin Fish when we venture back to Oceanside later this year.

Second time being here in a 10-year span and we still love the food as much as we did the first time, you really get a lot of food for what you are paying, we spent about $88 for three meals and it fed the four of us and we still had some extra boxes of waffle fries left. The Mahi Mahi plate was probably our least favorite though compared to the crispy combo and the large shrimp taco plate.

My family has been coming to Tin Fish for well over a decade. We've always counted on consistently amazing food and friendly service, which is why today's experience was so disappointing. When we arrived, the young men working the shack were ignoring customers waiting in line to order while they ate ice cream and joked around in the back. It gave the impression that customer service was not a priority. Unfortunately, the food reflected that lack of attention as well. The fries were cold and completely unseasoned, the coleslaw tasted different--and not for the better--and our fish was served without the usual lemon. Those may seem like small details individually, but together they made for a very disappointing meal. I realize I'm fortunate to be in a position where I'm complaining about food, but when you spend $70 for three takeout plates, it's reasonable to expect the quality and service Tin Fish has always been known for. This was the first truly bad experience we've had in all our years of coming here, and I hope it's just an off day because we'd love to continue supporting a place that's been a family favorite for so long.

Just came through for the pier and stumbled upon this place. I love fish tacos. These had really good flavor. Just needed some hotdauce for my personal preference but tacos were super tasteful and filling. Came with a good amount of fries too. Enjoyed the views of the boardwalk, pier and beach. Dessert stands are feet away! Glad we got to try this place.

Tin Fish is located on the Oceanside strand. It's a little stand with outdoor seating. There's plenty of seating with umbrellas The view of the ocean is great. You order at the window. They give you a number and call it out from the pick up window. They have a great variety of options, mostly fried. I got the clam chowder because I'm at the beach! It was thick and full of potatoes. I would've liked more clams. I did not love it. I did love the fish tacos and onion rings! The fish taco was a nice portion. I couldn't eat it all. The portion size was great. I would definitely come back here again. Prices were reasonable.

tin fish is located below the pier and the location makes it a super hot spot, we were in line for about 45 minutes, and with that, prices are also pretty steep. i got their fish n chips which totaled to around $23. portion was not bad but still did not justify that price, fish were crispy and fries hit the spot though, cole slaw was good too.

I was craving seafood and having recently spent a week along the coast and staying in Monterey to Half Moon Bay and enjoying their local seafood, I was looking for the same in Oceanside. We were strolling on a Sunday morning and I wanted some fresh seafood and didn't want to go into a restaurant. We saw that Tin Fish was opened so we got the grilled mixed plate and a salad to snack. It took a while for our food to be done and we were so hungry while waiting. There are plenty of outdoor tables to seat but the only thing you need to be mindful is the competitions for your food, with incudes birds, bees, and flies! When food came out, salad was good and the grilled mixed plate was good but for the price, it was so little... so, I think it was pretty expensive! I was still hungry and wanted to go and order some more but there was a line and I didn't want to wait another 30 minutes at least for the next time I could eat again here so we didn't order more. If I'm in the area again next time and go here to eat, I might just order a lot more learning from this experience. Overall, it's AOKAY.

Bomb cheeseburgers! French fries could use a little seasoning but they came through with being crispy! Will definitely be back.

Unfortunately the service was concerning if it's the way the Plot trains its servers. We were seated outside, directly across from another couple that was well dressed and looked great! Our server checked on them three times, having lengthy back and forth. He did not check on us at all after dropping off our drinks. A food runner ended up bussing our table. I asked for a straw after he brought our drinks, he never brought it or apologized or acknowledged us again at all. my boyfriend finally walked inside to grab one himself. Again meanwhile he was directly next to us chatting with the other couple. When we brought up the lack of service, he said he had a lot of tables who "didn't look like they wanted to talk" and that they were two servers short. It was a Sunday night. It was not busy. He then offered us a free dessert. We said no thanks, we just needed a box and the check. He came back with a cake anyway, and we had to ask again for the box and the check. Smh... We were dressed casually, so tbh maybe Kellen felt like that determined how much attention we were worth. It came across as classist. I can't say what he was thinking, but I can say what our experience was versus the service the table right next to us had. We still tipped in full because the kitchen earned it. I wish there were a way to send that tip straight to the kitchen and support staff. Good food can't carry a night when the front of house makes you feel invisible.

My husband had the regular raspberry cheesecake donut and absolutely loved it. While presentation wise his looks better, the flavor was there for both versions. I'm not really a fan of their coffee besides their black coffee just because most of it is too sweet or they are out of everything. One day I tried ordering coffee and then an energy drink and then a smoothie but they were out of almost any drink item. Finally settled on their matcha.
