Tin Fish is located right under the pier and on the beach in Oceanside. We ate here many times and service has been great. Food, chips, clam chowder and pretty much everything on the menu is worth trying. This place can get busy at times but they move rather quickly. Vibe and noise level is ok but expected since it's right on the beach. 5 stars overall

I've been wanting to try Tin Fish for a while (their Instagram always makes me laugh), so I finally stopped by and it did not disappoint. It's in such a great spot right under the pier in Oceanside, which already makes it feel like a win. I got the dragon fruit bowl and really loved it. The fresh fruit on top was perfect, super refreshing and just what I needed that day. Only thing I'd say is it would be nice if they had a half size option on the menu. It was a lot to finish, but still really good. Overall, I enjoyed it and would definitely come back. Thanks Tin Fish!

My family has been coming to Tin Fish for well over a decade. We've always counted on consistently amazing food and friendly service, which is why today's experience was so disappointing. When we arrived, the young men working the shack were ignoring customers waiting in line to order while they ate ice cream and joked around in the back. It gave the impression that customer service was not a priority. Unfortunately, the food reflected that lack of attention as well. The fries were cold and completely unseasoned, the coleslaw tasted different--and not for the better--and our fish was served without the usual lemon. Those may seem like small details individually, but together they made for a very disappointing meal. I realize I'm fortunate to be in a position where I'm complaining about food, but when you spend $70 for three takeout plates, it's reasonable to expect the quality and service Tin Fish has always been known for. This was the first truly bad experience we've had in all our years of coming here, and I hope it's just an off day because we'd love to continue supporting a place that's been a family favorite for so long.

Just came through for the pier and stumbled upon this place. I love fish tacos. These had really good flavor. Just needed some hotdauce for my personal preference but tacos were super tasteful and filling. Came with a good amount of fries too. Enjoyed the views of the boardwalk, pier and beach. Dessert stands are feet away! Glad we got to try this place.

Second time being here in a 10-year span and we still love the food as much as we did the first time, you really get a lot of food for what you are paying, we spent about $88 for three meals and it fed the four of us and we still had some extra boxes of waffle fries left. The Mahi Mahi plate was probably our least favorite though compared to the crispy combo and the large shrimp taco plate.

I don't come down to Oceanside often, but during a quick day trip to the beach, we discovered a great spot for seafood and more! As we walked down the pier, we didn't seem to have a lot of options for lunch. So, as we walked down to the beach, we noticed Tin Fish at the bottom of the stairwell. We checked to see what was on their menu and noticed that they had a great variety of seafood, burgers, acai bowls, and shakes. I ordered the jumbo shrimp with fries and my husband ordered the grilled mahi mahi sandwich with onion rings. They gave us a little buzzer and we waited for our food to be ready. It didn't take long for the buzzer to go off. Since the weather was nice, we opted to eat our lunch out on the beach. When we opened up our food containers, we were pleased with the size of the portions of food that we got. It was enough to fill us up without overdoing it. One thing that I don't like is when food is unseasoned. Tin Fish's fries had some type of spice on them that tasted like Cajun seasoning! It was great! The fries would have been fine without ketchup as well. The shrimp was evenly breaded and also cooked with the same seasoning! I was very pleased! I really liked that our time in Oceanside led to us discovering new places that are a quick train ride from OC. I enjoyed the food at Tin Fish so much that before we caught the train back to OC, we ordered an orange cream float before we left. We will definitely come back to Tin Fish when we venture back to Oceanside later this year.

tin fish is located below the pier and the location makes it a super hot spot, we were in line for about 45 minutes, and with that, prices are also pretty steep. i got their fish n chips which totaled to around $23. portion was not bad but still did not justify that price, fish were crispy and fries hit the spot though, cole slaw was good too.

Tin Fish is located on the Oceanside strand. It's a little stand with outdoor seating. There's plenty of seating with umbrellas The view of the ocean is great. You order at the window. They give you a number and call it out from the pick up window. They have a great variety of options, mostly fried. I got the clam chowder because I'm at the beach! It was thick and full of potatoes. I would've liked more clams. I did not love it. I did love the fish tacos and onion rings! The fish taco was a nice portion. I couldn't eat it all. The portion size was great. I would definitely come back here again. Prices were reasonable.

    Crispy Cod fish tacos

Codfish tacos were delicious and the shrimp combo platter was amazing. Fun little spot under the pier staff was so kind

Got the fish sandwich; both husband and I loved it! The portions were good and the fries were good as well. Food came out within 10 mins. And of course being right below the pier the ambiance is fantastic! Great vibes and great food!

When we arrived, there was no line which was pretty shocking because every other time I've been here there's always been quite a line. The girl who took our order was friendly and quick. We also had drinks, but they only had iced tea and lemonade, and sodas were all out. We were given a receipt with a number on it and we went to find seating. There are several big picnic tables, but they were all in the sun despite having umbrellas and the patio was full so we ended up having to eat inside, which was very hot. While we waited the line got pretty long. Our order didn't take too long and we brought it back to the table after getting condiments like ketchup for our fries, tartar sauce for the fish and plenty of napkins. The portions are huge and could definitely be split. Everything was too hot to eat (no complaints there) so we started with the slaw. I'm not a big slaw fan but it was good. I broke apart the fish so it would cool faster. The fries were perfectly crispy and delicious. The chowder was thick and tasty but mostly potatoes and very few clams. The shrimp were perfectly cooked inside the thick batter. The fish was well breaded and tasted good. I just wish it was a bit less greasy. This is definitely a divey spot but it's an Oceanside institution and hits the spot when I'm craving fish and chips.
