I don't know why I waited to so long to come to Eris Food Company, probably because I don't have many options for company. I was immediately greeted and welcomed by Scott, the fabulous owner who preps and makes all the food himself. He was cleaning and chopping up sweet potatoes when he asked what I wanted or do I need more time. Being ADHD and vegan and first time there, yes I needed more time. I am way too used to going out to eat at other restaurants and having only 1-2 options... so totally stoked the entire menu and restaurant is vegan!!!! I decided to get tbe fysh tacos and a lavender lemonade to eat there and a buffalo chickun pizza for later as a recommendation from Scott. My sister in law sat in covered patio that had cute seating, plants everywhere and a wonderful breeze being so close to the beach, it was walking distance. I could smell the aromas from the kitchen too, so that's always nice. The food was exceptionally fresh, crunchy and delicious. The sauce was exceptional and was tangy and a little bit of heat. They were decent size mini tacos and I didn't realize how hungry I was but totally housed them. Yum! Just before I paid, Scott presented me with my takeout pizza and showed me what it looked like. It smelled amazing and it looked artistic! Needless to say, I will be coming back soon and telling all my vegan friends about this place if they don't know about it. I'm also talking my picky family members, they did not like when I took them to the Plot which is about a mile or so away. I wasn't as impressed with the competition either. I've been coming here since 2022, and as someone who's been vegan for over 10 years, this place really is such a gem to have nearby. I've tried a good portion of the menu, and some of my favorites are the Bam Bam Burger, Jughead Burger, carne asada bowl, and the monster chili dog. The fries are always so good, and the cold mac salad is a must The portions are generous and I almost always have leftovers, which I love. My wife and I stopped by Eris in Oceanside on 3/14 and absolutely loved it. The place is small but full of character -- local artists' work on the walls, pop culture decorations, and a really welcoming, community-forward vibe. The owner took our order and was incredibly friendly, helpful, and informative. He described all of the dishes and you can tell he genuinely loves his resturant and what he's doing there. At one point he mentioned that he's proud of the portions because he thinks a lot of vegan resturants tend to skimp a little. He was absolutely right to be proud. I had the French Dip and it was honestly one of the best sandwiches I've had. The stek was sliced thin and really tasty, the cheze in the sandwich was perfectly gooey (which is rare for plant based cheze), and the aujus was the real star. I've honestly had nothing like it before. It was also a really hearty portion and super filling. My wife had the Jambi sandwich -- a hash brown wafflle with fried chikun, sunflower swiss, seitan bakon between two pieces of french toast -- plus chili fries on the side. The sandwich itself was impressively big and definitely lived up to the owner's point about portions. We've both been vegan for about 10 years and always appreciate finding places doing creative food like this. Met the Owner and talked for a while; he is unapologetically vegan, and stands behind his food. A couple came in, looked at the menu, and said "oh, we didn't know you were vegan"...his response, "it's not for everyone, have a nice day", and they left. If you're not willing to try something that's good for you, and better for the planet, there's no sense in wasting time talking about it. The prices are fair, and the food is delicious with good proportions. They do not offer water, only their specialty in house drinks and some drinks in the cooler. If you want water, bring it with ya. I came here based on the high marks, but I'm genuinely surprised that this place has so many 5 star reviews because I didn't think food was good at all. I appreciate the friendly owner and that they make everything from scratch, but homemade doesn't always translate to tasty. The portions are really oversized. Additionally, the fake meat is too heavy, salty, and (to me) felt overcooked. I couldn't finish the sandwich I ordered because it was just too much. A bit disappointed because the place is not inexpensive. I don't mind spending money on good food but I really didn't enjoy my meal. Walked in and Scott, who turned out to be the owner, greeted me right away. He was having one of those genuinely warm conversations with a local customer that immediately told me what kind of place this was. Tarzan made it a 10x experience from an already 10x experience. There are so many incredible options to choose from on this menu. I think we did a pretty damn good job though. The Not Chickn Gyro, Brutus Pizza, & the Triple Taco Platter was absolutely stellar. Along with the entrees, their vanilla bean ice cream, peach cobbler, chocolate cake, & root beer float were so tasty. Each dish had such unique flavor that made it stand out above almost any other restaurant that makes comfort food like this. I personally believe from a creative aspect, overall flavor & presentation (even the price) that the Chickn Gyro was the most incredible item on the menu! I have brought a friend with Alpha gal disease, and he said it was the first time he felt he could eat carne asada in over a decade, I've brought vegan friends who have said its one of the best vegan places they've been to in years. I have brought vegetable eschewing carnivores who didn't even realize the place was vegetarian. The ambiance of the place is pure California with a funky decor and a lovely outdoor area. Wow wow wow!! First and foremost I want to say a huge thank you to the owner, Scott. He went above and beyond to accommodate me. My fiancé thankfully doesn't have any allergies but unfortunately I do. Scott DOES have soy free options, but the oil for cooking does contain soy. I want to point this out for anyone else who like me has a legit soy allergy! That being said, Scott thanked me for bringing that to his attention when I asked about the oil and he said, "don't worry! We will make it work!" He ended up making me such a delicious and fresh bowl! It contained yams, avocado, rice and beans!! And he made a special sauce for it and handled everything in the kitchen for me to make sure it was safe and had no contact with soy! It was soooo good! I couldn't finish it all but he provided a box for me so I could take the rest back to our hotel! When I asked if I could pay for more yams, he said "you won't be paying! It's my gift to you!" Scott is what every business owner should be: kind, caring and dedicated. You can tell he takes pride in his business! From the moment we walked in we were welcomed with open arms. He politely introduced himself, asked our names and told us about his restaurant. He made us feel welcomed. Truly. He also didn't make me feel annoying for asking about allergens!! The fact he went above and beyond spoke volumes. He also said whenever we're back in town to call ahead of time and he'd personally get a safe oil for me. How sweet is that?!! Scott is was very hospitable! Gosh, this food and service was so damn good! I took a non-vegan here that mostly eats southern food and they loved it! I was glad that this was very close to our hotel. It has a hole in the wall build, and might not be super obvious to others on what it is, but it is a great find! What a gem! After a fun-filled day at Legoland, we decided to end the evening here, indulging ourselves! The portions were very generous and everything was presented beautifully! I love that they make their own cheese and faux meat substitutes. After our meal, I felt energized without feeling too heavy or full. I contribute that feeling to the food being made much healthier! The burger and pizza really hit the spot, and my kid loved his quesadilla. Our non-vegan friend devoured his gyro and forgot he was even at a vegan restaurant. He actually said, "I would offer you some but you don't eat meat." Bruh - really?! Glad he enjoyed it that much! I started going to Eris Food almost two years now. My favorite was the lil Brutus pizza. It use to be loaded with toppings and sauce and cheese. Then about 6 months ago or so I ordered my favorite pizza and was very disappointed. There was very little toppings anymore and the pizza dough was mostly sauce. Then I noticed changes in the taste of the other dishes. Another of my go to's was the meatloaf and fries. Again it used to be a great dish then it fell off as well. The sauces all started tasting the same tomato base that were in most of the recipes. So recently I gave it another shot and tried the French dip. Unfortunately the seitan was over cooked and the bacon was salty and hard. The buns were burnt and the fries were too salty. Not sure what has happened over the past year but unfortunately the quality has dropped significantly. read more

My experience at this restaurant was very disappointing. We arrived to the restaurant, it seemed busy so we went ahead and placed an order on Slice app. We waited about 30 mins then went inside to check on our food. The guy did explain that there was a large order ahead of us, so we waited and waited for an hour and a half to only receive our cold diner. Maybe there were issues with staff but the way the person upfront handled everything was not okay whatsoever. After that hour and a half, we checked in and saw him chatting on the floor, did not acknowledge us what so ever. Then, he finally let us know that our food was on the side the whole time. I immediately felt the cold pizza box. This was just very unprofessional and really disappointing. Do better please. And maybe don't accept online orders if that's an option? Eris is located in Oceanside, Scott the owner is very nice and explained Eris is the Greek avatar of destruction. This is an all vegan restaurant. He is very good with details, as I was looking over the menu he asked if I had any allergies. He suggested the lasagne; if I remember correctly it was one of the jumbo meals and at that moment was too big. He also recommended the "fish" tacos with heart of palm. Everything here he makes from scratch. I decided to sit outside as it was such a lovely day and they have a small patio outback. My three tacos with heart of palm arrived; they had a lovely presentation and I could not wait to make them disappear. As I devoured them, like a lady of course, the flavors were delicious and the textures were appreciated. I will definitely be back when in the area. My wife and I order the Reuben sandwich and Philly Cheesesteak, and quesadilla for the kids. Protein was made with seitan and house made. The food was made to order and served hot! Everything we tried was delicious and loaded with flavor. I was also impressed with how kid friendly this place was. There was a shelf with children's books and a shaded sandbox in the outdoor seating area, suitable for little ones to enjoy while you wait for your food (or if they aren't interested in eating at all).
