The pizzas here are so good. The crust is nice and thin with a slight chew. Their lunch specials are such an amazing deal, and I love that they use the little cup pepperonis. I've given Thunderbolt several chances, but this last visit was the final straw. I paid an extra $5 for additional pepperoni - on a pizza that already comes with cheese and pepperoni - Colpo di Fulmine - If this sad little scattering of slices is what you call "extra," then without paying that fee, I guess my entire pizza would've had about six pieces of pepperoni total. This is unacceptable. Customers should not have to pay extra to be shorted. It feels like a bait-and-switch: charge more, deliver less. Why post misleading photos of your product if when the customer place an order they're not gonna get anything that even remotely resembles that? Do better, Thunderbolt. Stop trying to nickel-and-dime people with toppings they've literally paid for. It's bad customer service and a bad look. Love love love their garlic knots and their pizza also very tasty and delicious but they do run out! It's such a cute pizza joint, parking can be funky at times but definitely worth the walk, just park on the street. The staff are great, very informative about their lunch specials. read more

I couldn't wait any longer to try the hyped up Italian sandwich at Thunderbolt Pizza in Long Beach. It was definitely worth the hype! Really quality meat with a hint of a peppery bite and that delicious pizza dough bread that has the perfect chew. I also enjoyed the zucchini sticks and ranch that was very dill forward. As a first timer there, the service was a bit awkward to navigate. I ordered at the front desk then was given a number to place on my table I picked. When the food was brought out I asked about the drink I ordered and the server said "You could just get it yourself from the fridge but I will grab it for you." She did but I wanted a glass of ice as I saw other patrons with and awkwardly asked if there was somwhere I should grab that. She said "I'll get you that." Nothing bad. Went here on a Sunday afternoon and had a pleasant experience. You order at the counter and then seat yourself. We got the station #9 pizza 16 inch as well as the arugula salad, and they were delicious! The pizza was very cheesy and the crust was thicker than the middle but very good. We ended up taking half the pizza home and will probably get the smaller size next time as we were only a party of two. The balsamic dressing on the salad was balanced and not overly tart; the Italian Sub is made with the dough used for their pizza, and I thought this gave it the perfect bite and texture. I also got a 12" The Works pizza to-go, perfect amount of meat in each bite. The restaurant is located next to a small parking lot, but parking wasn't an issue. Please be prepared to wait if you dine-in, as everything is prepared fresh. This is a casual restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. Disclaimer...long review My family had told me this was a place I had to try & that everything was SO good! Sadly, I wasn't impressed. To start, the customer service was terrible, and the food was okay. To top it off, our garlic knots we ordered never made it out to us. When I went up to the front to ask, they couldn't recall (deer in the headlights)... but they still made them and brought them out. Yay! We got the Italian sub and garlic knots... While they were good, I would not drive from San Pedro to eat here. However, I was in town & did give it another try on Sunday and tried a pizza... but unfortunately I still wasn't impressed. Service was the same, and so was the food... I asked my family if this place was new & they said no... but that was the feeling I got. There's a lot missing in the customer service department. I personally appreciated the quick service for it, so they could just deliver it themselves. I also appreciated how friendly our server was, which helped improve the ambiance and mood. The food itself was pretty delicious with cheesy, gooey, pizza. However, I DO NOT recommend the "Buffalo Wings" because it tasted like chicken DUNKED in Tabasco. In this end-of-2024 economy, the price was actually better than I remember it--pretty good for artisan pizza. It was a Thursday night with plenty of seating, but just keep in mind this plaza gets super crowded so you may have to wait or park on the street. I just learned that you can actually get beer at the brewery nearby and they will bring pizza over there which is super dope--love to see small businesses support each other. After 3 years the pizza stood the test of time. We got the Colpo Di Fulmine and it was great; just the right texture, fold to the crust, and well-balanced toppings. Keep in mind there's a pretty big menu of other non-pizza items too if you're not feeling pizza. Will have to be back to try them! read more

Maybe I didn't order bag they did. I had a pepperoni pizza. It was just good. Nothing super special like all of the reviews all over social media. Today I came for the Italian Sub. The sandwich was big. All over the place it was mentioned that they had the best in town. It was a good sandwich but still was not something I would come back for. I'm looking for that taste that makes me want to come back and I crave it. It just didn't have that factor for me. I've had better but their food is still good. Parking is scarce. Food is fresh. Overrated. Ordered two cheese 16" for $36. Got home and pizza was chewy. If you are looking for a softer New York style try lenzenis, better price and better pie. Yooooooooooooooooo! Love this place I get take out from this place atleast twice a month! I definitely would suggest to eat it there instead of bringing it home cause I always order pizzas and fried zucchini and when i get too tired from work I just want to go home so I order it for take out but pizza and fried zucchini always tend to get soggy in closed containers so that part isn't there fault. I would recommend to make sure to tell them to separate the ranch, the zucchini they put in the container always melts the top of the ranch cause the zucchini are so hot in the plastic container the put under. But for the pizzas I always get the sweet & spicy and bixby butcher and i always add a veggie to the pizza like basil or bell pepper. Another thing I would suggest is tell them to put the basil after they throw the pizza in the oven so it doesn't get overcooked or burn. From the bomb wood fired pizzas, amazing fresh salads, delicious wings with that unique, homemade ranch, decadent breadsticks, etc etc!..it's all beyond great and there's something for everyone. My 81 years old mother doesn't like pizza but really, really loves their nuggets, lol. I greatly appreciate when an establishment uses fresh and quality ingredients and they definitely do, down to the specialty pepper flakes with varied heat levels. The staff is always friendly, helpful and hustling to make sure the orders are fresh and to your satisfaction. I'm a huge fan of their sparkling rosè, while my husband loves their selection of draft beers. We also love and appreciate that we can order pizza and have it delivered to our table over at Ambitious should we choose to enjoy one of their beers. Was so excited to finally try this spot since it was so highly rated. Came in with my husband on a Thursday 6:30pm, it was pretty busy. We ordered the sweet & spicy pizza, zucchini sticks, and hot wings. The pizza came out fairly quickly and was actually tasty. Our other sides took forever to arrive at our table. The wings followed about 10 minutes later and the zucchini sticks about another 10 minutes after(by then we had already gotten full on pizza and had finished eating). I did not care for the wing sauce, it wasn't terrible but had a taste similar to mole? It was not for me and not what I was expecting. The zucchini fries were bland, tasted like hot cardboard unfortunately. Their ranch was good but had to pay like $1.50 for a little container. Overall it was okay but I wouldn't crave it. The pizza is great but they are suffering from success. I guess those are the kind of problems that every restaurant owner wants. Be prepared to wait 90 minutes for your pie on fridays and Saturdays. Order was placed at 7:24pm for 3 items: 16" Sweet & Spicy Pizza, Garlic knots, and bone in wings with ranch for $50.00 pre taxes. Confirmation email stated order would be ready at 8:15pm. Arrived a few minutes early so I waited in the parking lot. I got a text at 8:10pm stating my order was ready at the pick up area. Upon arrival, I was told that my order was not ready and was waiting on garlic knots. My order was not ready until 8:40pm. 30 additional minutes for garlic knots while my wings and pizza were in a warmer/oven. Several people were in and out prior to me getting my order. I was not offered any discount, accomodation, refund, not even asked if I wanted any extra sauces or condiments : just an apology and handed me my order. The pizza was basically room temp along with the wings. Both items have good flavor though. (Note that the ranch was warm due to being in the takeout box while in the oven) and the garlic knots were borderline burnt with little to no flavor despite lots of butter and garlic in the container. I recently came here during lunchtime and they have a sandwich and pizza specials. The portions are huge great for sharing. The service is quick and friendly. The food is so good and is a must try. Came here on a Friday night. The wait wasn't too bad, but we didn't have to wait a little for a table outside. The pizza came out at a reasonable time. However, we had ordered wings and even after the pizza came the wings were still not brought. We had asked the staff multiple times and they stated that it was still coming. I felt like they could've communicated better because we ended up waiting a significant amount of time before they told us that it was never ordered (the person at the cash register never inputted it) and it was not coming.
