I stumbled upon this spot after a visit to the aquarium. It's kid-friendly, has outdoor seating, and has decent parking. The staff was super friendly and helpful as well. I'm a fan of their Sweet and Spicy pizza! The heat from the peppers and pepperoni is definitely cooled down by the ricotta. The hot honey is a little cherry on top. Even if you're averse to spicy food, I'd still give it a try. I appreciated that they had vegan options as well and the Cashew Mozzarella Margarita was quite tasty.
Pros: Super cut and cool vibe. Love the little bar area inside. The place was packed so you know the community loves it! The garlic knots are the best I've had in a looong time!! Tons of garlic and fresh parsley and they pulled apart almost like a cinnamon roll. I could just order those and be happy. Lol Cons: Unfortunately, service was not good on the night we came. We had questions about the menu, the boy at the register couldn't answer any of them. We sat in the patio for fresh air but employees kept sneaking behind the shade cover, passing each other their vape, and smoking right outside. The girl server also full on picked her nose while clearing a table. So it grossed us out a bit not knowing if she washed her hands after. Lol. It also was a bummer that they took an hour to get our pizza out to us. We wouldn't have minded if the manager was honest but she lied and said they were slammed when we saw several orders, of people who ordered way after us, get brought out before ours. Turns out they were all friends of the staff. Lastly, the pizza was very tasty just extremelyyyy greasy. We ordered the Margherita and that is usually a very light and fresh pizza, which is why we ordered it, but it was very oily and heavy. It actually gave me a really bad stomach ache for a few hours afterwards. The bathroom was also very dirty with toilet paper and paper towels all over the floor. Maybe they were just really busy and couldn't keep up both service and food quality this night?
Thunderbolt Pizza is definitely worth the hype! The restaurant is super cute, and I love that the kitchen is completely open so you can watch them make your pizza in the wood-fired oven. The staff is friendly, the atmosphere is fun, and it's always busy which says a lot about how good the food is. The pizza was absolutely incredible, and it was nice to enjoy a beer or glass of wine while waiting. They also have a great selection of house-made condiments and specialty items you can purchase, which is a unique touch. I'll definitely be coming back!
Haven't been back for awhile but glad that I did. Still a great lunch place to grab great deal, 2 slices w/ a pint for $11. Honestly you can't really beat this deal anywhere. The quality is still the same great tasty fire oven and the service is still with great friendly staff, whom still there over 1.5yrs since I was here last. The place is the same but still clean and organized with both indoor and outdoor (patio & hallway) seating areas. Yes the slice is smaller but still filling and the beer is great. There are a bunch of great deals that I need to come back and check out (again). Just glad that I did came back from a great tasty slices and good beer with great service.

Omg, just ran across an amazing pizza place close to my home. Thunderbolt Pizza is so good and I can't believe it's so close and I hadn't noticed it before now. My wife and I were trying a Thai spot when we saw great looking pizzas being brought to people at outside tables so we had to go and give it a try. So glad we did. The place is pretty cool and bigger than expected. They have indoor and outdoor seating as well as some common tables in front of the entrance. Service was good. It's an order at the front counter and take a number to your table and they bring the food to you. We went with three family members and got two different pizzas and both were so good. One was a loaded pepperoni with a hot honey sauce and the other had ricotta cheese with pepperoni and pickled jalapeños (the red ones). Absolutely delicious We also ordered fried onion rings (which I did not try as I don't do onions) and fried zucchini sticks. The sticks were very good but I was thrilled with the dip as it had dill and I should have just asked for ranch. I'm told the onion rings were very good. They came with a honey mustard sauce dipper which went great with the zucchini sticks by the way. We saw some very good looking chicken wings being served to other tables and plan to try those next time. Parking in this area can be tough at times however it's worth the effort believe me.
I appreciate that they have vegan options on the menu. I had high expectations for the vegan pizzas but was disappointed by the lack of knowledge and by the food. When I called to ask about their vegan options, they seemed confused if a vegan pizza was actually vegan so I had to double check with them. When I arrived, the place was hot af with no A/C. I got the Bomba do Calabria. The pizza was drenched in salty Calabrian sauce, which overpowered the whole pizza with salt. The pieces with less sauce were good. Also, there was too much cheese as it was melting right off the pizza. I might come back if I'm in the area but would not go out of way to eat here.
Fantastic pizza! Easy parking for guests if you get there early enough. Pizza is cooked to perfection! Perfect chew on the crust, think and crispy. One of the best pizzas I've had in a while! Great quality and made to order by the pie or by the slice. Service was nice and the counter and friendly and helpful at the table. Clean inside and cute outdoor seating. We order takeout as well and always perfect!
We were in the neighborhood and feeling hungry, so we checked for vegan options and saw several people mention multiple vegan zas at this spot. Even though we arrived 5-10 minutes before dinner service, they were kind enough to take our order and seat us on the outdoor terrace while they continued to set up. A lovely breeze drifted through the seating area, and the late 70s/early 80s rock wasn't overly loud or obtrusive on the speakers --both of which we appreciated. Our order came quickly, and we wolfed it down! Super glad we upgraded from the 12" to the 16" because not a crumb was left behind. We went with the basic margherita pizza, but next time I might like to try the vegan pepperoni we saw listed in reviews. The sauce was quite sweet, the cheeze was nice --not too greasy or overabundant, and the crust was fairly thin, though not as thin as some spots we dine at. It held up it's shape easily. All in all, a good experience.
We had a pretty good meal at Thunderbolt Pizza. The Jay's Staple was amazing,v the red sauce and the toppings were so flavorful, loved it! The NYC White was just meh, the white sauce didn't have a lot of it and there was nothing really else on the pizza to carry it. The sides were solid too, we liked both the zucchini sticks and the onion rings, but surprisingly the zucchini sticks were definitely our favorite out to the two. The service was fast, and the ambience wasn't bad. I'd love to go back and try the pesto sauce pizza along with the Jay's Staple again (I promise it's not because it has my name in it, haha). 5/5 - Jay's Staple Pizza: red sauce, grande mozzarella, mushrooms, red onion, finished with fresh basil, and a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil. 3/5 - NYC White: mozzarella, ricotta, garlic, and cracked black pepper.

Honestly, pretty solid pizza. We got the honey pepperoni (forgive me, forgot the technical menu name) and the mozzarella sticks. First - why is it so hard to find mozzarella sticks on a menu at a pizzeria???? We were ECSTATIC when we noticed them, and weren't disappointed. Ordering was easy, the food came out quick, hot, and delicious. We'd easily be back.

Great service on a busy Friday evening. Ample seating arrangement both in and outdoor seating. Food was served quickly. Bixby Butcher was an assorted meat pizza. Solid portion of toppings. Overall great pizza, no complaints. Hot wings are not your standard buffalo wings, had rather tangy flavor. If I had to guess some sort of pickle brine or heavy on the dill. Tasty nonetheless. Great overall experience. Will return to try more of their specialty options. read more

I rolled in with my bro Anthony and we ordered the Hot Honey Pizza (Large). From the moment that first slice hit my mouth, I knew something special was happening. The crust? I got the lunch deal, of a 10" pizza for $10. Along with the cheese bread, for lunch. This place has been recommended a lot, so I was excited to try. This was my first time trying, and the very first pizza I ate had sometime BLUE in it. IT WAS IN THE CRUST AND SOME WAS IN MY MOUTH idk what it was, it just wasn't edible. read more

Sausage, fennel, ricotta pizza! Fire!!! I always tell everyone this is one of the best pizza spots if not the best in Long Beach. The fermented dough is unbeatable and no other pizza spot has an adornment of spicy peppers and a quality Parmesan to sprinkle ontop! They also increased their beer game and it's not all IPA thank goodness! The Pilsner they have currently is on point!!!!!! The only thing to make it more perfect would be a Belgian style beer on tap or that rosetta cherry beer or both!!!! read more

I tried this place with a few of my coworkers. I got the lunch special. It came with a personal pizza, and I got a Coke to drink. You get three toppings, so I made it a meat lovers pizza with pepperoni, sausage, and bacon. I recommend giving this place a try. read more
Ok, where to start!? This will be my second time here in a week lol. First things first. - they have a private parking lot which is great and they have a covered patio that is dog friendly (they have heaters as well in the covered patio) I met a great friend of mine a few days ago here, they had the door open but wasn't officially open yet (they were still Setting up, they were opening in about 7 minutes) I went up and asked if it's ok I go inside and wait for my friend. They let me in and I sat down in their covered patio. My friend got there shortly after. Our waitress was super friendly, brought out waters and even a huge pitcher of water and then took our order. (The second time I came everything was set up and had a sign at the cash register saying to order there and then they bring your food. Also, water is self serve. I had no idea! And I'm so sorry to the waitress who took care of us and was too friendly to tell us to get up and go get our own water and order / pay at the register when you first walk in) We ordered two pizzas. One with pesto and chicken. And the margherita pizza. Everything was delicious! I loved the pizza, I loved the service and I had zero complaints I came here a second time with family a couple days later. Emily took care of us and she was so great!!! We walked in and noticed the sign saying to order at the register. (Behind the register you can see the pizzas being made in their awesome Wood fire oven) We ended up getting the NYC white pie. Which was delicious and had cracked pepper on it. We also got an order of garlic knots and mozzarella sticks. We also got sides of ranch which tasted like they make it in house with tons of dill. The sauce for the garlic knots and mozzarella sticks was delicious as well. Also, bonus points for how fast our food came out (on both visits here) We paid and took our number to our table and sat ourselves. Emily was so great. Her personality and smile was contagious! She kept complimenting my nails and was sooo friendly. When our food came out I instantly started taking photos, which I always get shy and embarrassed when a worker sees me doing this lol. But Emily was allllll about it! Saying to put it on yelp, instagram and everywhere. So it was great I had someone hyping me up lol. I absolutely loved Emily. I hope management sees this and sees how amazing she is. I think it's safe to say Food- 5 stars Service -5 stars Variety of pizza and sides / appetizers 5 stars the fact they are dog friendly 5 stars Great parking 5 stars The prices are really reasonable as well. Our large pizza was 20 dollars - 5 stars for price They do serve beer and wine They have vegan options Also, the crust on this pizza is amazing. It's perfectly cooked in their wood fire oven. It also says that it is Brooklyn style. Which explains why I love it so much. It's a great slice of New York pizza without all the grease. It really is cooked to perfection. It's probably the best pizza crust I've had Since I've been here twice in one week, I think it's safe to say I'll be returning and hope Emily is taking care of us again read more
Honestly shocked this place doesn't have five stars! As a regular here, it is always packed and have never seen anybody leave unhappy. This is the best pizza spot in town. They have a variety of vegan options that DONT have nasty, rubbery vegan cheese. If you know you know. They have cashew cheese which has a great flavor profile, melts and the texture isn't off putting. Did I mention the dough is hand tossed and freshly made in a brick oven?? Yes! No frozen dominos type pizza here. The flavors for the pizza are interesting and most likely something you haven't seen before so don't be afraid to experiment. If you want something basic there, margarita is a classic that you can't go wrong with. Beyond the pizza, my family keeps coming back for the rosemary fries. They use Fresh rosemary so it's very fragrant. Their garlic knots are a game changer. I simply ask them to remove the Parmesan to keep it plant based. Soft and doughy on the inside, crispy and baked on the outside. YUM! Top it off with a glass of wine and you will be coming back every week like me! The staff is very friendly and the store manager will make sure you are taken care of! The only downside I will say is they do get really busy so be mindful you may be waiting 2030 minutes for a pizza. Be patient with the staff. You can kindly remind them and they are more than willing to check on your order. Do not come in here thinking it's a fast food Pizza Hut joint! Real pizza, real ingredients and a real hole in the wall type of feel. They have indoor and outdoor seating with the fire towers to keep you warm and a bar area if you are solo with a huge tv playing sports. If you are near Long Beach, this is a must try.! read more

Found this place online as I was craving pizza. This place is a Vibe ! When we walked in, the host greeted us immediately. It was so cute, lively and warm. I already looked at the menu online so had some good ideas of what we wanted. We ordered the arugula & mozz salad, you're so cheesy & 16 inch BBQ chicken pizza. We decided to dine in so we sat inside , tables readily available. Football on for my husband which is always a plus. The salad came so fast and looked so delicious. I'm not a big mushroom fan but honestly didn't taste them at all. They were raw, the mozz overpowered them and it was very tasteful. Every bite. Within 15 minutes our cheesy bread and pizza came. I'm pretty picky when it comes to pizza and honestly this exceeded my expectations. Everything was delicious. The house made ranch is worth every penny. I'll buy a gallon. We will be back. It's actually my preference of level of spicy but my fam did not like it as much as me. As for the crust it was burnt which I actually like. I've given Thunderbolt several chances, but this last visit was the final straw. I paid an extra $5 for additional pepperoni - on a pizza that already comes with cheese and pepperoni - Colpo di Fulmine - If this sad little scattering of slices is what you call "extra," then without paying that fee, I guess my entire pizza would've had about six pieces of pepperoni total. This is unacceptable. Customers should not have to pay extra to be shorted. It feels like a bait-and-switch: charge more, deliver less. Why post misleading photos of your product if when the customer place an order they're not gonna get anything that even remotely resembles that? Do better, Thunderbolt. Stop trying to nickel-and-dime people with toppings they've literally paid for. It's bad customer service and a bad look. I've supported this place multiple times, but this kind of corner-cutting is how you lose loyal customers. read more

This pizza place is a hit for me. Pizza was hot, fresh and tasty. The outside vibes were good, they played music and checked in on you, that was nice. I didn't care for the wings personally but that's just me. The flavors were different for being "hot". The salad was a basic and will skip it next time. It was a while wait for our order and I get they are busy so just FYI. I would come back again if in the area. You can't go wrong with fresh pizza and beer here. read more

Just okay...the tomato pie was not very good, the toast was below average...the meatballs had a good taste...pie was cooked well but was less than desirable....service was delivery from next door as we were in a brew pub that they do business with...other people seemed to be enjoying their pizza, maybe the order was not a good one....ambiance was that of a brewery next door...would probably pass on the "tomato pie" next time and try something different.... read more

I couldn't wait any longer to try the hyped up Italian sandwich at Thunderbolt Pizza in Long Beach. It was definitely worth the hype! Really quality meat with a hint of a peppery bite and that delicious pizza dough bread that has the perfect chew. I also enjoyed the zucchini sticks and ranch that was very dill forward. As a first timer there, the service was a bit awkward to navigate. I ordered at the front desk then was given a number to place on my table I picked. When the food was brought out I asked about the drink I ordered and the server said "You could just get it yourself from the fridge but I will grab it for you." She did but I wanted a glass of ice as I saw other patrons with and awkwardly asked if there was somwhere I should grab that. She said "I'll get you that." Nothing bad. Just unclear and awkward as a newbie. At any rate I would definitely return for the food. read more

Went here on a Sunday afternoon and had a pleasant experience. You order at the counter and then seat yourself. We got the station #9 pizza 16 inch as well as the arugula salad, and they were delicious! The pizza was very cheesy and the crust was thicker than the middle but very good. We ended up taking half the pizza home and will probably get the smaller size next time as we were only a party of two. They have their own selection of crushed pepper seasonings (in love!!) at each table. Service was good too, will definitely come back again. read more
I ordered a Small Arugula and Fresh Mozz salad and Italian Sub. The balsamic dressing on the salad was balanced and not overly tart; the Italian Sub is made with the dough used for their pizza, and I thought this gave it the perfect bite and texture. I also got a 12" The Works pizza to-go, perfect amount of meat in each bite. The restaurant is located next to a small parking lot, but parking wasn't an issue. Please be prepared to wait if you dine-in, as everything is prepared fresh. This is a casual restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. Disclaimer...long review My family had told me this was a place I had to try & that everything was SO good! Sadly, I wasn't impressed. To start, the customer service was terrible, and the food was okay. To top it off, our garlic knots we ordered never made it out to us. When I went up to the front to ask, they couldn't recall (deer in the headlights)... but they still made them and brought them out. Yay! We got the Italian sub and garlic knots... While they were good, I would not drive from San Pedro to eat here. However, I was in town & did give it another try on Sunday and tried a pizza... but unfortunately I still wasn't impressed. Service was the same, and so was the food... I asked my family if this place was new & they said no... but that was the feeling I got. There's a lot missing in the customer service department. Returned for a slice and pint and slice with a side salad. Waited 37 minutes and the food still hadn't arrived, even after asking the staff. The manager explained they don't prioritize slices over whole pizzas, which was strange. The customer service was atrocious. read more

Second time we've come here. First time was for the pizza. Pizza was good but not for me. This place does get sooooo super packed. So many people raved that Thunderbolt Pizza was one of the best. Maybe I didn't order bag they did. I had a pepperoni pizza. It was just good. Nothing super special like all of the reviews all over social media. Today I came for the Italian Sub. The sandwich was big. All over the place it was mentioned that they had the best in town. It was a good sandwich but still was not something I would come back for. I'm looking for that taste that makes me want to come back and I crave it. It just didn't have that factor for me. I've had better but their food is still good. Parking is scarce. Food is fresh. Food is always hot. They carry Mexican soda. Great vibes inside and out. Place is clean. Staff is nice. read more

Yooooooooooooooooo! Love this place I get take out from this place atleast twice a month! I definitely would suggest to eat it there instead of bringing it home cause I always order pizzas and fried zucchini and when i get too tired from work I just want to go home so I order it for take out but pizza and fried zucchini always tend to get soggy in closed containers so that part isn't there fault. I would recommend to make sure to tell them to separate the ranch, the zucchini they put in the container always melts the top of the ranch cause the zucchini are so hot in the plastic container the put under. But for the pizzas I always get the sweet & spicy and bixby butcher and i always add a veggie to the pizza like basil or bell pepper. Another thing I would suggest is tell them to put the basil after they throw the pizza in the oven so it doesn't get overcooked or burn. Service is always on time and friendly, also ambiance is very family friendly as I will continue to order here for many years to come. read more

Yes, we have our lunch specials every day except Mondays because on Mondays, we don’t open until 4PM.

Hey Will! That’s a tough question. Stromboli’s wreak havoc on the floor of our oven and with the amount of pizza we make, it’s been difficult to bring them back so we can accommodate the pizza lovers. Give us a beat to figure it out.

No but it's 100000% worth picking it up. Don't forget the Ranch it's homemade
