My husband suggested we hit this place as he had been before. Cute little place. The owner is awesome! The pizza was excellent and cooked to perfection! We tried two pizza's 1) La Sopresa -these flavors were so fantastic lemon, salty olives & capers plus the spice! 2) Bomba de Calabria (this is under the plant based selections but we got it non-plant based) Anything with Calabrian chili is a good choice It's hard to find a pizza place with high quality ingredients ...this place has it! They use Sicilian Olive Oil so that's a plus! Give it a try! read more

Do not deserve a star. Worst experience ever!!! I would not recommend this place! Zero STAR Pick up order 1 1/2 hours to 2 1/2 hours. That's ridiculous read more

So happy to have found this local gem. It has a good size parking lot. On one side there's a beer garden and on the other side is Thunderbolt sand a Thai place. When driving there, look for the Jamba Juice on the corner so you know when to pull into the lot; Google maps led me past the entrance. As we walked towards Thunderbolt, we saw a food runner delivering pizza across the way to the beer garden. They have 30 tables available for seating over there! Pretty sweet set up - they have QR codes on the tables to place your order, then they run the pizza to you. If you want to dine in, they also have lovely patio seating available. And, they have their own bar station too. Jay, the owner, came over to introduce himself and give some back story to how he opened his doors on 10/31/2020. It was a rough start to open in the middle of a pandemic, but he did it. And the locals are glad he did! I really can't think of a great pizza place in the area. So, I can see us coming back for more. It's worth making the drive. Fresh ingredients, they chop their veggies daily. I think he said they use fresh dough, not frozen. But don't quote me on that. They have very friendly service. You order at the front table. Then, the server brings order your to your table. They're changing their set up as covid guidelines are modified The patio is very chill and inviting. They have heaters for cool nights, and light canopies for a sunny afternoon. Prices are very fair. They have their non alcoholic drinks in the cooler on your right as you enter. And the bar area is to the left of the kitchen. Signage isn't great. Go in the walkway where you see the Thai place. Thunderbolt is on your right. We're looking forward to coming back! read more

Visited LB a few weeks back and Thunderbolt was highly recommended by a friend. It was a bit of a drive from the coastal area where we were staying (20 min or so) but it was worth it! We love pizza and this place did not disappoint! read more

Tried this pizza restaurant and was able to take my fur-pup and he was treated like a king . I ordered the cauliflower crust pizza and my husband order the regular pizza with everything, the taste was so good and everything was cooked fresh. The crusts were cooked perfect not hard or burnt, and the toppings were so tasty not dry and overcooked. The food was so good husband even ordered the mozzarella sticks and they smelled amazing and so cheesy. read more

WOW!! The sandwiches were recommended and the Italian sub lived up to the hype! It was a generous size but it was even more delicious! Easily one of the best hot Italian sandwiches I've ever had! Run and go get yourself this amazing sandwich! read more

great pizza everytime I've gone here, they sub meat for vegan meat (yay!) sides also never miss (cheese sticks, fried zucchini). Ranch is great, I think they make it in house. read more

It's my second time here and I can't believe I didn't review Thunderbolt on my first visit. I think Thunderbolt has the best crust I've had on the West Coast (a few NYC places compare). The cupping pepperoni is amazing too. Their garlic knots are to die for. And they have a decent selection of craft beers. The owner is super friendly and you can tell he loves his product and he should because it is sooooo good. Also, I sat out on their patio today on a very cold day and they had individual hanging lamp heaters at each table...that is so cool. read more

Place deserves the 5 star rating for sure. Only reason I came here from a lot of fello yelpers hitting it, pics, and reviews. Service - Great service from everyone here especially Jay who is very informative about how fresh the pizza is made and very helpful. Food - Definitely in the top 5 pizzas on my list as its made perfect with fresh products and perfect on the bread. Parking - A bit tricky on a busy day since it's in a complex with other places. Also a bit hard to find, but it's right next to Jamba Juice. Pricing - Fair pricing for the quality you get. Drinks - Not a large selection of wines or beers, but what they have in stock is great choices. Venue - Getting some remodeling done but cool as is with a bit of bar sitting, indoor sitting, and a good size patio. Overall great place and would definitely be coming back again and highly recommend it. read more

Get the Italian sandwich!!!! It's so so good. The caesar salad was delicious as well. Customer service was great. Everyone was so nice!

Super bomb pizza that we ordered while next door at Ambitious Ales. I do want to note there was a lag in ordering- we ordered 1 pizza for pickup at 7 while we were driving over from Irvine and the pizza wasn't ready when we arrived (took an additional 10-15 mins). We then ordered 2 more pizzas- one came out pretty fast, but the other 1 came out when we were practically finished. Service was great and they last pizza came out pretty quick after I had asked about it so no knocks there. Of the 3 pizzas we selected, the hot honey with the pepperoni cups was the MUST have so definitely order that! read more

This is one of the best pizza spots I have ever visited in Long Beach. Pizza is flavorful, delicious and very fresh. Their chicken wings are amazing too. I love the vibe at this restaurant. Staff is super nice and helpful and the overall experience here is fantastic. One of the best pizza spots in LA. I highly recommend coming here for their pizza and sides. read more

Service so so bad!!! The people are nice and there appears to be a bunch of them in the back. But, unfortunately we made an online order at 6:30pm. Was advised it would be ready at 7:15pm. I checked at 7:13pm and the kind lady at the front said the order says it will be ready at 7:15pm. Long story short left at 7:45pm without my prepaid wings and ranch. We'll see if I get a refund. Was told sorry we only have one small fryer! Lol. Never coming back for dinner. read more

Went here on a First Fridays (which is a busy night in the area) and waited over an hour for pizza sitting in. They said they were extra busy, but I realized that the waitstaff was walking orders over to the brewery next door delivering food to those guests as well as those sitting in their restaurant. So basically their restaurant is 3x larger than they actually are and you have to compete with many others for food. They have one oven.... they wanted more customers to the detriment of actual dine in customers. read more

These people need an SERIOUS attitude check- the owners are so condensing and lack people skills as you can read in the comments! Don't waste your time coming to this place there is better pizza places out there- they do not deserve anyone's money was going to try this place today but the owner was so rude after that I never went to give this place my money it's not my problem if they open at 11:30 it clearly states it opens at 11am ONLINE maybe change it since it's an issue if customers come earlier plain and simple! I can care less if the owners respond to me too trying to justify the situation this was my HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE and maybe you guys should take some people skills classes you can learn how to treat people! A JOKE OF A BUSINESS! The owners defending each other on here is the cherry on top- That clearly shows you what kind of people they truly ARE! read more

I was so excited to try this place since I've heard great things about the food but unfortunately did not even get the chance to try it as the owner was rude, online it states they open at 11am, tried walking up at 11:15, and was rudely told she was still setting up and wasn't going to be ready until 11:30, I would understand this but she could've said, feel free to sit down, offer water, or offer to wait but her condescending tone and her rolling her eyes had us walk away and will never try this place, your food could be good but if your service is awful, it will turn away customers, wasn't offered to look at a menu or to sit down, will never support people behind a business which such attitude. read more

The best pizza in LB! Fresh ingredients, nice environment and you can have wine! This location has become my family's favorite.

staff is friendly, restaurant is clean, food is good, prices are reasonable, variety of options.

I've heard so much hype about Thunderbolt Pizza that I finally caved and tried it out. I arrived after doing some shopping and noticed they had individual slices. I inquired about them and the owner said they normally don't do slices after a certain hour, but because they were partnering with Ambitious Ales, they made slices available and I was able to order them. I ordered one pepperoni and one cheese slice, as well as the garlic knots. The knots had to be made fresh, but the slices were served quickly, so I dined on those while waiting for the knots. The slices were fantastic. That marinara I've heard about was perfectly balanced. Not too sweet, not too spicy, not too salty, not too runny, not too thick, just balanced perfectly. I devoured those slices so fast I forgot to take a picture. The garlic knots were good, but I have a personal preference for softer garlic knots. These were a little more cooked on the ends so it was tougher. Still delicious, but I am picky on the garlic knots. If I were to do a top 5 I've had off the top of my head, I would go with 1) Fresh Brothers (admittedly, there was one time where the garlic butter in one knot was so excessively, I split it open and liquid gold poured out...it was fantastic and the best garlic knot I've ever had because I now had this unexpected garlic butter dip so this #1 spot is a little biased but I do love their knots) 2) C&O Trattoria 3) New York Pizzeria (in NYNY Hotel + Casino, Las Vegas) 4) Pizzanista 5) Thunderbolt Pizza I've yet to try the other pizza spots in Bixby Knolls (Dutch's, Porky's) so those ratings may change. We are fans though, although I do wish there were more specialized vegan options for the S/O. Daiya cheese may be standard but there are so many more options nowadays (Follow Your Heart immediately comes to mind and, to me, miles better than Daiya for shredded vegan cheese) that I think growing this would help. read more

Husband was craving pizza the other night and was trying to find a good place for pepperoni pizza, his fave. We have only been in the area for less than a year and haven't found the pizza place, and we are from the east coast so we prefer the NY style pizza over Cali style. Called to order but no answer, the voicemail directed me to order online. Pretty easy to do and estimated pick up was about 15-20 minutes which was great. We only live about 9 minutes away so it was pretty close. Ordered a large pepperoni pizza. It was good, a little skimpy on the cheese as there was no cheese pull and if you see in the pic you can see the tomato sauce saying hello especially closer to the crust. I know this is a brick oven but I think one side was a little bit more charred than I like. But pepperoni it's self was delicious! It was a good size and between my husband and I we are all but 1 piece of the large. Will definitely try this place again and try something new. read more

Pros: Great Pizza, super thin and red pizza sauce was delicious. We loved the flavor. Cons: 8 slices in a large margarita, cost is $26! Could use cheese. Just seems much for a family... read more

Thunderbolt Pizza is the best pizza in Long Beach and great salads and chicken wings also craft beers

7.1 just one bite everybody knows the rules to much flop not enough crunch it's best in area but not the best I have had

First time eating here so was confused by the process but figured it out. Wings were very good as was the homemade ranch dressing for dipping. We also ordered the veggie pizza, the crust was a little too wet on the bottom and the back crust was pretty burnt, not much flavor and very skimpy on the toppings for the price considering it was only veggies! The three stars was for the pizza would have been more if the pizza was better. read more

First off just want to say that our trip here was purely based off chance. I got on Yelp, randomly scrolled up, and it landed right on Thunderbolt so it was destined to be and I'm so happy it did because the Pizza Gods definitely smiled on us this day. Thunderbolt was totally amazing. Super quaint, way on the eyes, a huge assortment of drinks, and some of the friendliest service you'll find in Bixby Knolls. The Old Skool BKLYN was delicious. An upside down pie that was both savory and fresh because of the basil. The star of the show imo though was the Colpo Di Fulmine. I was not expecting the hot honey to hit the way it did along with those char pepperonis. Amazing! I plan to definitely come back really really soon to try more of their pies out. Thank you Thunderbolt!! read more

Enjoyed a lot of things on their menu but gotta give the highest praise to their sweet and spicy pizza. Fantastic.

Was in the mood for some better then average pizza and decided to give this place one final chance. Tried calling ahead to make sure it was completed correctly but the phone was not being answered. My pizza was made incorrectly. Asked for them to remake it. Waited thirty minutes after they said it would be fifteen only for them to have not even started it. Just a blank stare deer in headlights inauthentic apology from the front girl no apology from the kitchen manager or any leader. This is guaranteed the last time i ever go. Fuck this place. Don't waste your time. read more

Jay the owner is on site, active, a wealth of knowledge & committed to the process. He will happily tell you food stories as the pizzas are heating up. The slide and crackle of the thin crust through the middle and the bubbly edges on the outside are very New York approved. The shop has sweet funky music choices, bordering on Jazz with a Hip Hop flair. The hostess was about 17 to 19 years old and a flurry of productive customer service the entire time we were there. Jay aims to please in all ways - with taste, with texture, with service. We were there on a busy Friday night and we barely got a table (but did) and our party of six loved the joint. Super tasty, super NYC authentic. Good luck to Jay and thank you for choosing LB into which you are focusing your tasty pizza pies! ((Plant based options available)) read more

This was our first time here and it didn't disappoint. The staff was friendly and the line wasn't too long... only a few people. Management came out and asked if he could give my doggy some treats and I said sure! My dog loved them and he was very kind and friendly. They said typically the line is so long and around the corner but since it was memorial weekend, they were a little slow. Pizza was delicious! It was a good size for the price and it was nice and fresh. We got the veggie with half sausage and it was really good. I appreciated that it had artichoke on it. I'm definitely coming back and trying different things next time... I have my eye on the white pizza read more

Best pizza in the neighborhood! Ambiance & service is great, just make sure to order early!

My husband arranged for us to have a family birthday party at the restaurant. We ordered cauliflower, chicken, wings, various pizzas (we be jamming/ pepperoni/ bbq chicken and the chopped & sliced salad. My hubby and I eat pescatarian so the plant based Bomba di Calabria was our choice and it was so yummy that a few meat eaters were sneaking slices. The pizza could be larger for the price but.... Yummy all the same. The food was timely and delicious. The customer service was amazing. We were sitting on the outside patio and the team was more than flexible to close the see-through window shields and turn on the heat lamps. Christy was our waitress and she was amazing, patient, kind and knowledgeable. The ambiance was laid back, the music was perfect and the black and white movie added a special touch. One suggestion, a bit more signage could help it to be easily found. I absolutely recommend Thunderbolt Pizza and will absolutely be back again. read more

Their pizza is great, quality is always really good here. Even their red peppers are from FlatIron Pepper Co, a great store to get high quality pepper blends from.
