On vacation with my children and Thorney's was suggested by Visitmyrtlebeach.com There were 2 adults and 8 children total in my party. The service at first was okay all the meals that had some sort of pasta we noticed that the noodles were over cooked. Most of our food could have used more seasoning and the chicken bites were over cooked. I noticed half way into my meal that my leg was wet. I asked my cousin to the left of me did she spit on my leg she said no. Then I checked the table to see if something was dripping off the table and nothing. A few minutes later my son sitting to the right of me asked if I seen something just drop from the ceiling right in front of me. I looked up and didn't see anything. My son said something was leaking from the ceiling. I mentioned it to the waitress who was addressing our bills and she said okay and that she was gonna get the manager. I informed the manger and he said it was condensation but there were no air conditioning unit above my seat. The manager didn't seem fazed as if he had already knew there was a leak in the ceiling or whatever but I said I was calling the Health Department cause I wasn't sure what it was and where else it could have been falling and could have been falling in our food the whole time. read more

This is a good family friendly spot. The kids Mac & cheese was huge (we could have fed both kids on one), we had a combo platter appetizer that everyone enjoyed. The prime rib could almost be cut with a fork and the steamed vegetables were still firm (not mushy). My husband got blackened shrimp and they were good enough that he shared one with me to try it. Lots of flavor but not too spicy for most palettes. After dinner the kids and adults who wish they could be kids played some arcade games. We would visit again. read more

Had lunch for the first time there today...It will be the last. As soon as we got our food, here came the cockroaches! Out in broad daylight! They crawled ON our table, behind us on the top of the bench, and all in front of the tv at our booth! Visited early evening (before the man rush comes in from the beach) with family. Just from the name I thought this was more of a western Steakhouse kind of place, but once inside it was just about everything under the sun. My 3 year old nephew loved the play area and game room. My sirloin was cooked right and from what I could tell everyone at my table seemed happy with what we got. But I was just a bit disappointed at cheesy the set up of the place was where we will stuck in the back surrounded by bookshelves and books ??? I thought this was Steakhouse and not a library. I'm giving this one star....however, I didn't eat there. This is based solely on the fact that my husband wanted to do the 80oz steak challenge for his birthday. We called and made a reservation for 6:00 pm on Friday night. About 15 minutes later, the manager, Jason, called and said that "they didn't want to tie up a table at that time and could we come in at 4:00?" We advised no as we have other plans and don't like to eat dinner at 4:00 pm, we're in our 30's and aren't looking for an early bird special. Jason advised they just couldn't tie up a table during that time. I've been a restaurant manager and have never turned a guest away because they might sit at a table for too long, especially one that is prepared to spend a few hundred dollars and drive two hours to get there. I am severely disappointed and won't set foot in this restaurant based on that alone. read more

Terrible!!! My burger was rubbery. The service was terrible and the fries were cold. Our waitress didn't care. She brought the check when she brought our meal. She never offered refills. Had to walk toward the kitchen and ask for condiments that were ordered on our sandwiches. Do yourself a favor and skip this place. read more

Came here with the family on a Thursday night for some dinner and to watch a football game. Host was rude and refused to seat us somewhere where we could watch the game unless we sat the bar yet they claim to be a sports bar. Puzzling. We will not be back. read more

We love this place. I always get grilled BBQ chicken, and it never disappoints. My kids love it because of the atmosphere & the free frisbee. The bread is delish & the fried pickles are awesome. Three is for the overall experience. I give the food a two though. Server was pretty good, atmosphere was ok. It's a tourist place and was very full even though we ate dinner early. We split their "Best Ribs on Myrtle Beach" and well they weren't all that great, our local steakhouse ribs are better flavored and way more tender. We use to love coming here when we visited Myrtle Beach, but it seems like there may be new management. The menu has changed and it doesn't give you a lot of options. You only have three choices for steak, as well as three choices for seafood. I ordered the sautéed shrimp, which came lukewarm and very rubbery. They gave me the wrong side and then didn't give the coleslaw. My mother ordered their steak, which also came lukewarm and not medium-well. The waitress was nice, but pregnant and she kept rubbing her belly. After the drinks, food, and tip we spent 70 dollars and we decided that next time we would just eat at chick fil a. My family came down to Myrtle Beach for vacation this past week and thought we would stop by as we had been here before. For a place that advertises melt in your-mouth-prime-rib, my father's king cut did not size up in terms of quality; it was tough and fatty. However, my Caesar salad with blackened chicken was very large and hearty. Great rolls and honey butter. I also recommend the Cherry Cola--a great sweet drink that I will definitely be making more of myself. I left full, but the dining experience and other meals left a lot to be desired. Especially when the rolls are arguably one of the best parts of a meal at a steakhouse. read more

You know it is going to be a tough meal when Skippy the food runner, some seventeen year-old wet behind the ear kid, addresses you as 'buddy.' After a long day my family is looking for a nice sit-down restaurant to have a nice meal before taking my sons out for a round of miniature golf. We came across Thorny's when we saw a closed Godfather's Pizza next door. My wife and I chuckled because we grew up with Godfather's and had a moment of nostalgia. We thought Thorny's would be a nice place. We were greeted by a friendly staff and were seated promptly. The menu looked like it had a nice selection. We started with an appetizer order of fried pickles. I ordered the prime rib; my wife had the ribs and sirloin combo; my sons had a steakhouse burger, a kid pasta meal and mac and cheese for our toddler. I guess we came late as there is only one piece of prime rib left and not a rare one as I would like. So I ordered a small sirloin instead. The fried pickles came out pretty fast and tasted like it came from a jar, promptly and lightly battered in flour, then threw in the fryer for a minute or so. It was still wet inside. This is the first time my kids turned down fried pickles. When the entrées came out, Skippy promptly stated to me "... here's your meal buddy..." and stated to my eleven year-old son "... and here is your (kid) pasta, Sir." I guess he thought my son is paying the bill. Here is a breakdown of the meal: *My steak was so bland and bad that I could not finish it. No amount of A1 could have helped it. *My wife's ribs tasted like it was drenched in a bad apple marinade. She gave me her sirloin and last I checked, it was still on my plate.. *My kid's pasta looked and tasted like old pasta and sauce heated in a microwave and sprinkled with the cheese packages you get from the pizza delivery companies. *The Steakhouse Burger (ordered with cheese) tasted like cardboard and came without cheese. Instead of taking the burger back to the kitchen, a slice of cold cheese was brought out on a plate. *My toddler's mac and cheese looked and tasted like a bowl of macaroni mixed with milk and two slices of cheese then heated in a microwave. My wife tasted bits and chunks of un-melted cheese; we hoped it was cheese. The kid's pasta meal came with ice cream and we promptly declined as to get the heck outta there. You can always get enough of a bad meal. This is a clear instance of poor management and a chef who neither cares nor does not know how to prepare edible food and appears to enjoy cooking using a microwave oven.. Thorny's has an 80 ounce steak dinner challenge. It would behoove of you to not even think about trying it. Save your money, time, ego and appetite. As we pull out of the parking lot, we wished we had gotten there earlier while Godfather's was still open. read more

Great steaks. Ordered medium well but was a little more pink than I normally like but steak was still great even without A1. Cost for 2 steaks dinners, loaded baked potato and drinks was $37, so cost is a little steep. Have to give it 2 stars because of cost, but if you have a heavy wallet this is a nice place to lighten the load. read more

Very kid friendly. They have an indoor play area for kids that includes a large screen that has kids movies on it. The also have an arcade area for older kids. They have televisions at most tables which was nice because I could watch the NBA finals while I waited. I ordered the prime rib (cooked medium) and it was delicious. The meat was really tender, almost like meat butter, and had a nice flavor. It was one of the better prime ribs I've eaten. The house salad with ranch was tasty, too. The server was also friendly and checked back with us often. They were busy, but I didn't have to wait to be seated. Overall, great experience. read more

My husband and I were in myrtle beach for our anniversary we tried Thorneys and we were very disappointed. My husbands ordered a 14oz rib eye that was a third fatty and no taste. Picture a sub par food with a place that would lead you to believe otherwise. I could have gotten a better cut of meat at a grocery store, in fact I have. Giving Thorny's two stars is probably a stretch, but the onion rings were good. The service took forever, the interior felt dirty and the food was no better than a hole in the wall steakhouse. So ok I've built up this place in my mind because of billboards first off they apparently can't cook a burger medium...second my burger barely covered the bun it was on but I'll say I ate it with discontent because of how hungry I was...my wife order a chicken dish...for $14 you would think it would be a semi decent portion of chicken...hardly...she got chicken Alfredo as a side I thought they had forgotten her chicken...the pasta was mediocre at best and her chicken dish I could make at home and not only that i am 100% sure I could make it better and faster! We did have fried pickles that were pretty good besides being a hair dried out but they were spears and we are fried pickle chip people...now understanding it's a holiday the service is good but the wait was less than desirable we almost ate Chinese and probably should have...id give it 2 stars and I'm being generous read more

This place is amazing! Friendly workers and the food is absolutely DELICIOUS! Hands down some of the best steak that I have ever eaten! I loved the environment and the decor. Our waiter was extremely friendly and was on top of things. He came by frequently to see if there was anything else we needed and to make sure our food was ok. I highly recommend this place. I've been coming here once a month once every other month since last August. I was able to watch their lounge transform into a beautiful bar. The work they've done in the lounge and bar area really makes it feel more welcoming and can absolutely accommodate more people. I'm never really impressed by the waitresses or the host team- see them on their phones a lot complaining about lack of business also rolling their eyes at bar guests who want to sit at the bar not a table. But are a couple of bartenders I keep coming back for; Carol Ann being one of them. She may not remember my name but she always remembers what I drink and can anticipate my pace of meal! The food tends to be kind of spotty; sometimes it's great sometimes it's OK so I always try to get it of the happy hour menu. The bar is always clean and tidy, the glassware is always sparkling, great place to bring friends and family from out of town. The menu was well thought out and the prices are perfect. Average menu items with a bit of a twist and lots of drinks to choose from. Featured draft beers, bottled beers, sodas and cocktails leaves you with endless choices. I have to admit I never make it to desert the portions are worth the value! If this is your first time in town or your 10th visit make this part of your Myrtle Beach tradition. read more

This HAD been my must go to place every time I visited MB. I have been disappointed by them. Last year after getting married here at NMB, we went there and we were a party of 10. We were disappointed with the service and I wasn't thrilled with the taste of my steak. We decided to go again since we're back in town. This time my husband found a hair in his salad and returned it. The steak was tasteless. The thing is that we didn't get to see the manager about this nor were we compensated for the hair in his salad. I'm so sad as no longer do I feel like going back! I always had liked their salad and always got their house dressing which is hot bacon honey mustard which is very different and good. I normally wouldn't get honey mustard for a salad but this was unique and so good! read more

My kids look forward to eating here every year and of all places on the grand strand this is truly my favorite. The tables have television for the kids to watch while waiting on food and during the meal. I like the tables because of the size they're comfortable and you don't feel cramped while enjoying a meal like most places and the wait is really not long considering location and the seating is great for groups also.
