Good steak, nice flavor. Crab cake was also very good, and the green beans had tasty herbs on them. Potatoes also got the royal treatment, with rosemary on them. Obviously, they have a skilled chef. The waiter did ask if we'd like a picture taken for a postcard. I told him we lived there, and he looked a little deflated. When we got there, they immediately asked for my credit card. Before you could even order. The waiter admitted he'd never worked at a restaurant that did that. I guess they've had people run off without paying? At $105 for two people, not including tip, I can see why! However, this restaurant is at a tourist destination. Prices are often very high at these places. I did ask for a table with a view of the ocean. We were sat at the bottom level nearest the ocean, but due to the thick window frame being at eye level, you couldn't see a thing from the table. Needed some lunch so gave RipTydz a try. Service was good throughout the meal. No complaints there. Started with the Smoked Gouda and Chicken Egg Rolls. They were very good. Crunchy and delicious. For my main I went with the Crab Cake sandwich and the Chesapeake Seasoned Fries. The Crab Cake was just ok. A lot of filler in it but was cooked well and the pretzel roll was good. The fries were a disappointment. They were cooked uneven and the seasoning on them was very light. Overall it was a good experience and will try something a bit different next time. read more

We had a great experience at RipTydz! First off, we LOVED our server. She was incredibly kind, friendly, and honestly one of the best servers we've had in a long time. She was very attentive and thoughtful, especially since we were dining with two toddlers. She noticed they were starting to get restless and helped us figure out how to order from two different areas so things would go smoothly for us. At one point the dads took the kids up to the rooftop to play cornhole and Connect Four, and she even brought us extra cups so we could split up the jar drinks so the guys could enjoy some too. It was such a small gesture but really showed how much she cared about making sure everyone had a good experience. The food was delicious, hot, fresh, and really tasty. We ordered the German pretzel, which was huge, warm, soft, and absolutely delicious. I also had the shrimp po' boy and really enjoyed it. I never would have thought to add diced pickles to it, but it actually added a great texture and flavor that worked really well. The drinks were good and fun, but they did taste a little watered down we just wished they were a bit stronger. This is our second visit within 4 weeks. We came into town for my daughter's dance convention and thought this would be a nice lunch spot for the family. The host was very nice, and we were seated with a beautiful view. Unfortunately, after quite a long wait, the food arrived cold. The only thing that was actually hot was the kids' macaroni and cheese. I rarely leave reviews, but we use Yelp as a trustworthy guide when choosing restaurants, and this experience was very disappointing -- especially for the price point. The beer was flat, the pub chips tasted stale, and while the Riptide Shrimp had great flavor, both that dish and the shrimp po' boy were barely lukewarm. The family and I dined here once during outr stay. We went around 6 pm and there were plenty of options for a party of 6. We wanted the roof top seating but decided against it due to the beaming sun and the looming threat of a downpour. We decided inside next to the open windows was best. The Hostess greated us and showed us to a nice table with a good view. If you dont already know, tables require someone's card to open a tab to get started, however you are permitted to split the check however you like. My family talked up the seafood here as my nephew had been before. I decided to order the Sea Lovers Steamer: crab legs, mussels, clams, shrimp and sausage - sans potatoes and corn. It was a nice large meal that I shamelessly did not share with anyone. Everyone's food came out in a reasonable time and hot. Only my neice had to send hers back - she asked for something to be put on the side inside of on her tacos. Turns out the put it on her tacos and she didn't like the taste. They were quickly remade and brought out. The food was good and our Server did a good job especially considering it was just her third day at work. Being seated indoors near the open patio and window allowed the fresh air and sounds of the ocean to set the ambiance. RipTydz Oceanfront Grille & Rooftop Bar This was the only thing that 1) was open at 10 PM and 2) looked like it would have decent food. Google said they closed at 2 AM. We opted to sit outside, but the lighting out there was not the best. (You can see my photos are blue, red, and green because the lights kept changing color.) There was a DJ playing inside. He was good, but the music was really loud. Our server warned us in the beginning that they have an automatic gratuity, and they require a credit card to start a tab. She did explain that you can use a different form of payment later. Two things the server neglected to explain: 1) They don't actually close at 2 AM. We saw servers cleaning up and removing condiments from outdoor tables at around 11 PM. Someone came to tell us last call was at 11:30 PM. 2) There were no prices on any of the drinks listed on the menu, so we asked. Instead of going to check, the waitress quoted us a low price for a beer. I was shocked when the bill charged me $23.96. Of course I asked waitress about the discrepancy, and she just shrugged it off. A decent person would firstly not misinform and secondly would apologize when in the wrong. Bless her heart. I ordered the crab & lobster steamer $72.80 because that seemed like a popular item. I also got the 12 oz ribeye $38.48. I think the seasoning on the steamer was good; it was just not spread evenly. So there were some bites that were grossly salty, and some bites were bland. The ribeye was good. It came out medium rare like I requested. My recommendation is to clearly mark your store hours and prices. I hate the spread of misinformation. read more

Excellent restaurant that I would recommend as a stop if you are in Myrtle Beach. Food was delicious as our table had the steak and crab cake, shrimp poboy, shrimp and crab Mac and cheese and the shrimp boat. All excellent choices but if you do not love, macaroni and cheese, do not get the mac & cheese options as it is an extremely large portion. It almost could be shared amongst the table. The waitress was very attentive and checked on us numerous times and had a great personality. My only real complaint is I was sold on the view from the patio and the windows were closed and seem to have a film on the outside of them keeping you from seeing the ocean during the summer. I'm sure the windows are open and it's a clear view of the ocean. I would recommend sitting on the temperature controlled patio as opposed to the dining room room as the dining room room was very small where the patio was very spacious. read more

Gorgeous view on their rooftop - highly recommend requesting to sit up there if the weather allows. You get to see the water if sat on the edge and it's beautiful! No reservations but it was quick to get seated upon entering. FYI automatic 15% gratuity added to all checks. We ordered the surf & turf burger and that is what made this place lose a star. The lobster itself was great but it lacked seasoning and butter. The burger itself as well was dry - just patty, lettuce, lobster, and bread. It needed cheese and/or a secret sauce and butter. Now the mac & cheese was amazing! Cheesy, gooey, flavorful, and the seafood hit the spot. If I'm ever back in town I'd order the mac again for sure (probably another flavor to try it out). Had a Bahama Mama in their Large Mason Jar on the afternoon of 3/10/2026. While the drink itself was huge being served with 4 straws,and Great fruit flavors, that's about all anyone could say. I did drink the entire jar by myself, it was amazing that I did not get a slight buzz,especially 1. Drinking it by myself, 2. I drank it rather fast. When it got too hot, we went to their indoor restaurant on the 2nd level. Bartender hands me the REG menu. I asked for a HH menu and he said "he had none." Insinuating there's NO Happy Hours there. After my continued questioning, he finally confirmed Happy Hours is the entire establishment. So why so secretive? Why not give me the HH menu? Seems he also "neglected" to tell everyone else sitting at the bar about the "Happy hour" specials. Not cool. The two women next to me were pretty upset once they found out. I went here last year and we totally loved it..the location is perfect because it's right on the beach and then there's the outside so you can go outside while you're waiting for your food however I'm not quite sure where all these hidden fees came from. They require your credit card up front which is fine, then you get a server fee, and you get a service fee we were not told about the service fee. We were also not told up front that the kids fries didn't come with it and she made it sound like it just came with it because she said fries but didn't offer the other option which was chips. She was a fine server but it was just little disappointing all the fees at the end and they didn't nothing for birthday other than say it which I don't expect them to sing but maybe just a little something. However the food is really good especially the cowboy chicken sandwich I got with the onion rings and the sauce on the side. My mom got the fish and chips but did not think they were as good as last year. My boys got mac and cheese but they did not like it because it had like a bunch of cheese on top that wasn't like mixed into it. Overall I would definitely not be back unfortunately which is sad because I really loved it last year I don't want to give it a two star because I think that the food is worth it. read more

May 2025: Riptydes is a masterclass in how to ruin a meal and insult your customers. The service was an outright disgrace--our waiter hurled our smoked Gouda and chicken egg rolls at us like we were targets in a carnival game, then vanished without a trace. My son had to grovel at the bar for plates because apparently basic tableware is too much to ask for in this dump. The egg rolls? Lukewarm, with cheese so unmelted it might as well have been straight from the fridge. Pure incompetence. The New England clam chowder was an abomination--flavorless, devoid of clams or potatoes, and tasting like the dregs of a dollar-store can left to rot in a warehouse. My son's chicken Caesar wrap was a soggy, inedible mess, swimming in dressing like it was trying to drown itself, paired with kettle potato chips so stale they could've been dug out of a landfill. The waitress had the audacity to open with a smug announcement about their automatic 15% gratuity--because clearly, they know no one in their right mind would tip for this pathetic excuse of a dining experience. And the ambiance? A complete assault on the senses. Country music blared inside, but it was obliterated by the ear-splitting roar of motorcycles tearing up and down the strip. With every window flung open, we were forced to choke on a thick cloud of exhaust fumes for an hour--delightful. As if that wasn't enough, outside was a brain-dead contest of morons cranking their vehicle stereos to apocalyptic levels, with 20 different songs blasting simultaneously in a cacophony so obnoxious it could make your ears bleed. Riptydes isn't just a restaurant; it's a punishment. Myrtle Beach's only redeeming move is to flee and never look back. Zero stars isn't low enough for this cesspool. read more

When we walked in we were greeted by a friendly staff that offered us a table on the 3rd floor to be able to enjoy the view overlooking the beach. Once we were settled, we order some cold local beers to keep us refreshed in the sunny day. Next up the food. It did have a slight delay but absolutely worth it. The surf and turf burger was a first for me, a juicy beef patty topped with real crab meat that had the perfect combo of land and sea. I would definitely order this again. Also pictured are the buttery lobster dogs and one of the wraps available to order. Everything came out full of flavor and fed our hungry bellies to the top. Fish tacos were bland (with blackened) and the slaw was just cabbage. No real flavor. Not sure how you mess up this beach staple. Their rice was so bland no one in my party of 8 would eat it. The snow crab legs were just awful. Overcooked and too salty to eat. It wasn't the bay seasoning, it was the meat inside the shell. They said all of their snow crab would taste that way. They replaced them with Dungeness that were also not good (overcooked and really mushy with no seasoning). $72.80 for a crab and lobster boil should be so much better. They also charged for cocktail sauce and drawn butter when you order shrimp or crab and lobster meals. Who does that? Way overpriced for food quality. We won't be back.
