Best grouper bites I've ever had!
Laura L.

Bartender 3/28/26 was wonderful; so friendly and genuine. Food was equally wonderful. Would for sure go again, job well done to all staff!

Grouper Bites basket near; Grilled Salmon top

Awesome experience. Food was spot on & fast. Grouper bites basket & a grilled Salmon plate. Service was wonderful. The patio is an indoor/outdoor space with retractable vinyl panels, so was comfortable even on a cool day.

Stopped in on a beach walk to find an awesome grilled flounder sandwhich and very friendly service !!!

Highly recommend- our favorite meal during vacation!! We are from WI and we were craving fresh seafood. We sat outside with a beautiful view of the ocean. Service was quick with how busy it was. We ordered grouper bites, hush puppies, bang bang shrimp, flounder seafood basket and grouper meal. There was not 1 thing left on our plate! The bang bang shrimp was definitely a family favorite. We recommended this place to other families in our group who all came here to eat and enjoyed it just as much as us.

I had a wonderful time at Groupers at the Pier. On my visit to Myrtle Beach, I found this restaurant based on the Yelp reviews as we were looking for a good seafood spot on the beach. It was a short drive from our hotel and we were happy to enjoy a view of the ocean as we enjoyed our delicious meal. We opted for the fried shrimp seafood basket and an order of grouper fish. Given it was the namesake of the restaurant, we were curious to try it out. We thoroughly enjoyed the fried shrimp and the dipping sauces were very tasty and made a good pairing for the shrimp. The grouper was quite tasty and we enjoyed the sides that came with it as well. Our servers were prompt with getting us seated and taking our orders, and they checked in with us frequently. This is a nice lunch place for anyone visiting (or living in) Myrtle Beach and a great seafood spot!

Walked the beach this morning and wanted some seafood. What a nice surprise when walking up the pier to find Grouper's. Nita was our waitress and she was so nice and came with recommendations of things to do and places to go while we are here. Food was affordable and filling. Appreciated my spicy margarita rimmed with Old Bay seasoning too. Plus was the dolphins were out and we were able to watch them as we ate. The bartender even came out to make sure we saw them playing. This was the perfect lunch for the day. Scenic and sunny. Very casual atmosphere and great for kids too!!

A little bit of nostalgia. This place is done in mainly older dark wood paneling. We came here to get our fill of FRIED SEAFOOD. It was all good with light breading. It's part of the Apache Campground Complex, attached to the Pier...which is our next stop

Absolutely delicious

We had a wonderful dinner and it was a great place to meet up with our friends. Highly recommend.

The shrimp baskets are delicious. Loved the batter shrimp. I also got a lemonade and it wasn't too sweet which is great!

The she crab soup was different from the she crab soup I had on Hilton Head. So I've had the soup twice, first time was more like New England clam chowder. This comes out more reminiscent of Manhattan style. Once I got past that surprise, I noticed how much crab it actually had - loaded! I liked it a lot. The grouper was cooked perfectly and a nice portion for lunch. Green beans were regular green beans, nothing wrong with that. The rice was also red and I was very happy with it. Very tasty compared to regular rice. I opted for the mango salsa and it was spot on. Our server was very friendly and informed about the menu items and their preparation. I was also happy with the view of the intercoastal marina. And there was no major tourist traffic. Nothing too exotic here but it's a good fresh seafood restaurant. I'd come again.

Nick is an absolute legend!…read more We came to Portofino not knowing what to expect, and we left completely blown away -- and honestly, a huge part of that was our waiter, Nick. This guy is on another level. From the moment we sat down, Nick's energy, knowledge, and genuine passion for hospitality set the tone for the entire evening. He wasn't just taking our order -- he was curating an experience. Now let's talk about the Cacio e Pepe -- insanely good doesn't even begin to cover it. It was perfectly executed: silky, bold, with just the right bite of pepper. Classic done right. But you know what made it taste even better? Nick. He recommended it with such confidence and enthusiasm that we had to order it, and he absolutely delivered. Nick was attentive without being overbearing, knowledgeable without being pretentious, and just an all-around fantastic human being. He made us feel like VIP guests from start to finish -- checking in at exactly the right moments, offering spot-on suggestions, and keeping the whole experience flowing effortlessly. If you go to Portofino, you absolutely should ask for Nick by name. He is the kind of server that reminds you why going out to dinner is supposed to be a special occasion. We will 100% be back, and Nick is a big reason why. Portofino, you have a gem on your staff. Treat him well!

First of all the order came to the table completely wrong as if the server didn't even hear our order. We ordered a side of turnip greens and got a huge basket of fries, ordered blackened shrimp and received poorly cooked deep fried shrimp, ordered blackened fish and received a portion the size of fish and were told would be more then enough for two , ordered crab claws ( LuLu's specialty) and received a deep fried finger of the claw with no crab meat just batter, ordered fried oysters and received scraps of deep fried batter but did receive two large servings of coleslaw. We enjoyed the slaw and eat any of the food. Finally got some blackened shrimp and turnip greens after several visits from different servers. I very nicely said something about the food to our server and she brought out a very apologetic manager, he said he would not have eaten the food either and said it had been happening all day. Didn't charge us for the food and was very nice about it. My take on this is of course is we will not return and secondly the manager said they were serving food like that all day long. This was our experience, good luck with yours.
