We sat at the bar and received great service throughout our visit. We ordered drinks that were definitely worth the money, they were strong and well made. There was also live music playing, which really brought the place to life and made the atmosphere even more enjoyable. For food, we ordered the shrimp meal and the gumbo soup. The gumbo was delicious and packed with meat, very hearty and flavorful. My only complaint is that I asked for less meat due to an upset stomach, but they weren't able to accommodate that, which I understand. The crackers served with the soup also tasted a bit old and off. The shrimp, however, was very tasty and enjoyable. We attempted to visit LuLus on Thursday, but they were closed due to A/C issues. We came back on Friday and were glad we did. The staff was incredibly friendly and kind from the moment we arrived. They also have a cute shop attached to the restaurant where I was able to get some Aloe Vera to help ease my sunburn, which was super convenient. Would highly recommend! read more

We had orders taken and waited many minutes for our server to return. We did catch her eye and inquired about our order and she waved us off and said "it's coming". She came back a few minutes later and told us ticket times are usually 35-40 minutes so our order was not late. When we received our food, shrimp and fish were not hot and were overcooked. Every year, my family and I love going to the Flying Fish at Barefoot Landing. Unfortunately, this year we drove to Barefoot Landing only to be disappointed. There was a sign outside saying they weren't going to be opening that day, or were opening late, or something to that effect. We were short on time, so we started looking around for somewhere else to eat at Barefoot Landing, pretty disappointed that we couldn't go to our favorite spot. That said, I saw there was a new place called Lulu's right around the corner. I checked out their menu, and it looked like a fun place to eat. The pictures of the food looked pretty good, so off we went. Upon arriving, the first thing that struck me was the big, open atmosphere of the establishment. It wasn't very cozy, but the hostess did greet us in a friendly manner and took us to our seats--which ended up being one of the worst aspects of this restaurant. I have never been more uncomfortable sitting in a restaurant in my life. I know that's a weird gripe, but these were some of the most uncomfortable chairs I've ever sat in. They hurt so bad. My kids were seated on the benches across from us, and they could barely even reach the table. My wife switched places with my son, and the benches were covered in what looked like footprints and dirt from people standing on them. Our server was very friendly and attentive. We started off with drinks. We all got soft drinks, and every single one of them was flat. We ordered the fried green tomatoes, and they were OK. The dipping sauce was great. My wife and son ordered the tacos, which they said were bland, tasteless, and pretty underwhelming. My daughter ordered a kids' cheeseburger, took one bite, and said it was disgusting. Unfortunately for me, I ordered one of the most expensive things on the menu: a seafood entrée where you get to pick two items. I picked the fish and oysters, both fried. Some of the oysters tasted like they were kind of rotten--very fishy. The fish itself was OK, but the breading they used was absolutely atrocious. It tasted like the oil hadn't been changed in weeks. The fry on the fish was dark and had an almost burnt, overly salty taste to it. Absolutely terrible. As we were about to leave, a live band started playing, and they sounded pretty nice. I wish they had been playing while we were still eating, but by that point we were so ready to get out of there. We were incredibly disappointed. The real shocker came when I got the check. For our family of four, it was almost $110 before the tip. This food was in no way worth that kind of price. I honestly would've rather gone to a fast-food restaurant. This place gets two stars simply because the staff we encountered were friendly and because of the live music. Otherwise, this is one of the most boring, aesthetically unappealing restaurants I've ever been in, with some of the worst overpriced food I've ever had. Never again. I went on a cold, rainy day about 3pm and I was seated right away. It's a very casual atmosphere and they had a singer on the stage. I was enjoying the music and didn't want to leave. The food came out pretty quickly. I got a bowl with greens on the side and surprisingly the turnip greens were very tasty. We loved this place! They have indoor and outdoor seating at Barefoot Landing. Beautiful view all around with a bunch of little shops around too. Sandy area with lawn games and volleyball, a ropes course and arcade. We just went for dinner. Got there around 4:30 and beat a huge rush that started around 5:30. They have great and friendly staff, live music was excellent and everyone really enjoyed the food. I ordered the catch of the day which was grouper! My first time having it, my server recommended ordering it "blackened " and it was an excellent recommendation, it was delicious! My kids loved their meals and said they cant wait to come back on our next trip. They have a nice little gift shop as well. My only negative is that the lights all have cobwebs with active spiders in them. They should clean them out each morning, it would only take a few minutes and make everything perfect. We sat down and the server took our initial order, unfortunately the kitchen was out of a few of the items on the menu. Service overall was okay. Was never offered a refill on our drinks and we had to ask about our food after waiting 30 minutes. When food finally came out it took over an hour and it was under whelming. Lukewarm queso and stale chips, over salted fish, and the overall portion sizes were skimpy. The staff we encountered had no energy, seemed like they didn't want to be there. With all the kitchen problems and overall vibe we got from servers seems like this place is all over the place. We tried to speak to a manager but once the check came we could not wait any longer to provide feedback. We are all about eating out and trying new places. Sometimes food comes out wrong or someone has a bad day. But this experience left us feeling there's more going on, there's too many things that went wrong. If this is a restaurant chain corporate management should take a closer look and fix things before the brand is tarnished. Blacked shrimp was...seasoned. Nowhere near blackened. Chicken was overcooked so bad it was inedible. Kids fish "sticks" may as well have been Play Doh, given the awful texture. If you enjoy dropping $150 for a family of four and leaving feeling ripped off, this is your place. As for us, this was a one and done. Why people wait in line for this slop is beyond me. read more

We enjoy the options at Barefoot landing and with everyone visiting the area for a family wedding, we needed a meal! We checked at the desk and put our name and phone number to be texted when a table was ready (about one hour). We explored the local shops around here and several members came out with bags of swag and treats! When the text came in we returned and were seated. Our server brought waters and took our appetizer order (Okra & Onion Rings). Our family from NY had never heard of Okra and a few gave it a try. Having the dipping sauce helped for sure. Our drink orders were delivered and meal selections were taken. The service was timely and our meals came out in two sakes of a lambs tail. The portions were generous and half our party needed ToGo containers for a second meal back at our cottages. We did sample some fudge that was purchased at a shop for a light desert! All in the bill was $275 with tip which I tried to contribute to but my brother in law paid first ! One life hack- when the restaurant closes at ten (on this Friday night) there is a fire works display over the water which lasted for ten minutes. I wanted to love this place sooo badly, because the atmosphere is fun, the colors are vibrant and it is HUGE! However, I don't think we'd come back. Pros: service was attentive and relatively quick! My daughter got chips and cheese dip and it was really tasty. Cold beer is always a plus! Not as fun: our meals were just meh. The shrimp in my tacos didn't have any seasoning (I did like the sauce they served with it though), I didn't like the gumbo at all (my husband loves gumbo and he also though meh), the shrimp bowl was quite pricey and my "I love everything" husband was so disappointed - he wished he had tried something else. We chose this place because it was close to our hotel, and was rated kid-friendly. It is in a great location on a pond/marina across from a fun playground. It's loud on the inside and has every fried thing you can imagine, so if that is your idea of kid-friendly, this place is for you. The menu is not extensive but a good size. They were very attentive to my husband's gluten allergy. The manager actually came over and spoke to him and took his order separately from mine.
