We sat at the bar and received great service throughout our visit. We ordered drinks that were definitely worth the money, they were strong and well made. There was also live music playing, which really brought the place to life and made the atmosphere even more enjoyable. For food, we ordered the shrimp meal and the gumbo soup. The gumbo was delicious and packed with meat, very hearty and flavorful. My only complaint is that I asked for less meat due to an upset stomach, but they weren't able to accommodate that, which I understand. The crackers served with the soup also tasted a bit old and off. The shrimp, however, was very tasty and enjoyable. We attempted to visit LuLus on Thursday, but they were closed due to A/C issues. We came back on Friday and were glad we did. The staff was incredibly friendly and kind from the moment we arrived. Friendly welcome by the hostess. We came in on a Friday night looking forward to trying a new spot for dinner. Long wait time yet tables in restaurant were not filled, still had empty sections. We sat down and the server took our initial order, unfortunately the kitchen was out of a few of the items on the menu. Service overall was okay. Was never offered a refill on our drinks and we had to ask about our food after waiting 30 minutes. When food finally came out it took over an hour and it was under whelming. Lukewarm queso and stale chips, over salted fish, and the overall portion sizes were skimpy. The staff we encountered had no energy, seemed like they didn't want to be there. With all the kitchen problems and overall vibe we got from servers seems like this place is all over the place. We tried to speak to a manager but once the check came we could not wait any longer to provide feedback. We are all about eating out and trying new places. Sometimes food comes out wrong or someone has a bad day. But this experience left us feeling there's more going on, there's too many things that went wrong. If this is a restaurant chain corporate management should take a closer look and fix things before the brand is tarnished. I went on a cold, rainy day about 3pm and I was seated right away. It's a very casual atmosphere and they had a singer on the stage. I was enjoying the music and didn't want to leave. They have great and friendly staff, live music was excellent and everyone really enjoyed the food. I ordered the catch of the day which was grouper! My first time having it, my server recommended ordering it "blackened " and it was an excellent recommendation, it was delicious! My kids loved their meals and said they cant wait to come back on our next trip. They have a nice little gift shop as well. Blacked shrimp was...seasoned. Nowhere near blackened. Chicken was overcooked so bad it was inedible. Kids fish "sticks" may as well have been Play Doh, given the awful texture. We enjoy the options at Barefoot landing and with everyone visiting the area for a family wedding, we needed a meal! We checked at the desk and put our name and phone number to be texted when a table was ready (about one hour). We explored the local shops around here and several members came out with bags of swag and treats! When the text came in we returned and were seated. Our server brought waters and took our appetizer order (Okra & Onion Rings). Our family from NY had never heard of Okra and a few gave it a try. Having the dipping sauce helped for sure. Our drink orders were delivered and meal selections were taken. The service was timely and our meals came out in two sakes of a lambs tail. The portions were generous and half our party needed ToGo containers for a second meal back at our cottages. We did sample some fudge that was purchased at a shop for a light desert! One life hack- when the restaurant closes at ten (on this Friday night) there is a fire works display over the water which lasted for ten minutes.
