Disappointing experience at Ocean Blu Lounge. We ordered margaritas at the bar -- they used a good tequila, but surprisingly, the bartender just poured everything into a glass and stirred it. I've never seen a margarita made without shaking; it really affected the balance and quality of the drink. We took our drinks to a table overlooking the pool and sat there for about 45 minutes while staff served nearby tables -- not once did anyone acknowledge us. As we were getting up to leave, a waitress finally approached, only to say, "Guests who order at the bar usually just want to enjoy the view." A pretty poor assumption -- and an even worse excuse for ignoring us. Between the lazy drink prep, lack of service, and premium pricing, we'll be going elsewhere for the rest of our trip. read more

Went to Ocean's for dessert after a dinner elsewhere and it was delicious. They didn't have coffee at the hour we went, as it was near closing time, but it was fine. The littles got a brownie with ice cream, which was rather delicious. Their molten lava cake was good as well. The interior of the restaurant has large picturesque windows that overlook the ocean. Depending on where you're seated within will determine if the view is good or not. I would return here when we're down for our conference next year. read more

We came in for a quick breakfast since we had a spa appointment and was greeted by the extremely friendly and helpful gentleman that makes the omelettes. (Wish I remembered his name, because he deserves a special shout out) He was truly the saving grace and the reason I bumped my rating up one additional star. The better value is to get the breakfast buffet because it's $28 and some change and includes your beverages. The buffet consisted of potatoes, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, fruit, etc. All of my food was lukewarm, despite being in warmers. I also ordered a made to order omelette and it was pretty tasty. I'm sure you're paying for convenience, since the restaurant is within the hotel, but we've eaten at so many other better places offsite that were much cheaper. Stayed at the Marriott in North Myrtle beach, when we arrived we were hungry, so we stopped in to this restaurant bc it was located on the property. Service was fantastic, the calamari and ahi were quite good. My husband got the chicken, which was a VERY small portion and not very flavorful for $35. I got the angus burger w/ bacon and it was very bland, like it had no seasoning whatsoever. We got the molten lava cake for dessert and it was good. I had the pleasure of having breakfast and the food was good and the service was better, unfortunately I also went for dinner, Jeffrey the server was trying to do all he could to keep up with the tables as he was working alone, the soup was good, the rest of the food a filet and scallops special were mediocre at best, both the two scallops and the steak were over cooked. We were there at about 12:30-1pm on a Friday and were the only ones in the dining room and had a nice view over the pool area. The menu wasn't that big and I ordered the Cuban sandwich with homemade chips. The chips were very good and the sandwich was good but was a little fatty. My wife ordered the Turkey club with the sweet potato fries. Everything about this sandwich was very good and the fries were prepared perfectly. If you want a quick light lunch. This was a total surprise for us. They have 2 areas that Ocean's provides food. The Bar area which you can sit outside and overlook the pool area and see the Ocean and also a restaurant area for Ocean's. Great views of the pool and Ocean. The staff is excellent in every way. We did have dinner in the bar area and it was great. The restaurant area was breakfast , and excellent also. The pricing is not bad at all for a Inclusive Resort, I have paid twice the price and not even close to the quality of food I received here. Give it a try and I am sure you will agree. read more

Almost every table in this fine restaurant has a beautiful ocean view. Hotel and restaurant has valet parking. Great meal! Wonderful service! We had headed to Ocean's on 82nd (inside the Marriott Grand Dunes hotel) for brunch, but on Sunday in the slow season the stop doing buffet brunch at 11:00 a.m. (and are closed over some lunch hours). But, boy am I glad we stayed. My eggs benedict were perfect and my spouse reports his All American Breakfast was also excellent. Their chef, Edmund, is to be commended. I have sent back many an eggs benedict plates when eggs were overcooked and Hollandaise was canned....but this was a truly wonderful meal. Coming in the slow season of the non-holiday weeks of December or January...call ahead for lunch or brunch hours. Valet parking available. Great meal! And our thanks to Shaun for professional unblemished service! P.S. I was also very pleased to be in a high end hotel and restaurant that appeared to extend excellent service to the African American families dining at the same time. Good for you Marriott! read more

Tried for lunch, liked it so much we went back for dinner! A true restaurant in every sense of the word, small menu of fresh food cooked to order. Fresh seafood, tasty soups, and even a good turkey club with home made potato chips. All of this in a restaurant that gets customers for free based on its location in a hotel, and the five or six tables that overlook the ocean! My only negative is that this place could be more profitable if they gave smaller portions and didn't use expensive "baby" vegetables. Their prices are average for the area (about double Applebees). The dinner entrees range from $15-30 (I got a salmon dish for $24), which includes sides. At those prices this food is a great value. read more

Very overpriced. I wanted to order dessert to bring back to my room and I was told it would take 10 minutes. The hostess then came back out and told me that it would be less than 5 minutes until my dessert came out. Twenty minutes later, I walked up to the desk and could not find an employee. A couple minutes later she walked out looking clueless- she said she forgot my food in the back. When she brought it out the ice cream was open and tipped over in a plastic bag. The ice cream was placed in a tiny little container as if it were a side of sauce. I was less than thrilled. To make it worse, my dessert tasted awful. Went here for the breakfast buffet one day - well-stocked, with all the scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, etc. that you could want. Pretty pricey if you eat a traditional-sized breakfast. But if you decide to Joey Tribbiani it, then you can get your money's worth. Also had a late night meal at the Marriott bar (food from Oceans on 82nd). Good sandwiches and apps, nothing spectacular. My dining companion's caesar salad was pretty wilted (borderline rotten). We alerted the server and it was removed from our check. All in all, a completely average hotel restaurant experience. Didn't try any of the big ticket items, but the stuff I did have was decent. Definitely okay if you don't feel like venturing off the resort for a meal. read more

We recently stayed here. Let me start off by saying, I'm a Marriott Loyalist, I only stay a Marriot's so I know the brand standard. This restaurant is located in the Marriott Dunes Hotel. The prices for breakfast buffet were reasonable. The buffet was great and yummy with an amazing selection. They had everything thing you could ask for, waffles/ pancakes/ bagels and lox, fruit, sausage/ bacon, omelet station, yogurt, and etc. The staff was very friendly and attentive. They need to do a better job cleaning the restaurant, food was always left in chairs and on table and sometimes glasses were dirty. I know they have recently renovated the dining hall but I would recommend replacing chairs with leather or similar. The clothe seats are already showing its wear and tear. Overall, I would recommend this place for breakfast. read more

NO! The only thing good about the restaurant was the staff. They are very pleasant very nice and very accommodating. I am easy but I know good food. They are very overpriced and stingy with the protein. I had an oversized plate of pasta and I would be generous to say it came with what had to be a single piece of cut chicken tenderloin at best. Caesar salad does not have tomatoes btw but theirs does. Generous portion as a side salad and if you must get it ask for the dressing on the side. We had lunch here yesterday, first day at the resort. Overall, this is a below average experience. The beer menu is very limited. The quality beers on the menu are Blue Moon and Sam Adams types - no craft, nothing local, etc. My wife got an average margarita, basically exactly like a Jose Cuervo premix, and kids had lemonade (pink). Food was as bad. I had fish tacos, which was dry and not much flavor. My wife had a turkey burger she ate less than half. Kids food seemed fine - PBJ, grilled cheese, etc. My oldest had French dip, which she ranked even below a fast food French dip like Which Which (she's a French dip connoisseur). Food here is well below a Red Robin - just as a barometer for you for quality and price value. Service was good and friendly. Basically, after this lunch, we committed to going off site for every meal this week. There's a lot of good options around for better food and prices. read more

Wife had the sea bass, extremely light and well made. I had the shrimp and grits, and while I'm not a southerner, it was fabulous, full of flavors. My son had the chicken carbonara, a huge portion of creamy goodness. Alejandra our server was suberb, knew the menu and it's preparations completely. Was able to tailor requests for everyone at the table. Even the key lime mousse was home made and fabulous. The house wines were average, so I'd get something else.
