I am really sad to write this as after seeing the reviews I thought for sure I would love the food. Well unfortunately I was not impressed. We were staying at a hotel close to this restaurant and decided to give it a try. I had the Waterscapes Salad with Shrimp- the salad was a disappointment. There were barely any beets on it, the spicy pecans were not spicy and there were hardly any of them on the salad and I think there was one heirloom tomato it was mostly arugula, kale and greens. The server was very nice and the Malbec wine was good, the marina view was also a plus. Overall it was just OK. Not a place I would go back to. read more

We had an excellent dinner @ Waterscapes this evening. We are staying at the Marina Inn. Our first night we wanted to stay in, this was a wonderful choose. The Char Fish was excellent. The bread arrived with a Madison jar filled with; goat cheese, olive oil, some rosemary and roasted tomatoes, I really enjoyed it. The Crab Cake was also delicious. I didn't care for Bloody Mary's but I was told the shrimp cocktail with Bloody Mary sauce was very good. It was a wonderful dinner and highly recommend for anyone staying in the Marina Inn or just visiting Myrtle and looking for a great dinner evening out. read more

Went to their Mothers Day brunch. First of all, the brunch was moved to the Ballroom because the "Air Conditioning was out in Waterscapes (At least that is what we were told). We reserved the 10am spot because we were looking forward to sitting outside on a beautiful day. Secondly, the food was NOT GOOD! The Eggs benedict had ZERO flavor, the ham and turkey were dry. The waffles were hard. When you charge $45 per person for a brunch, you should make damn sure that the food quality and flavor of the food shines. I DO NOT recommend ever going here for a special day brunch. For that kind of money, why wasn't there an omelet station or a carving station? Very low quality and it looks like they were just doing a money grab on a day that was suppose to be special for my mother. We walked away disappointed and will not return. I did expect more. I just refuse to lower my expectations for that price point. Better options available in town. Very PATHETIC! We came to Waterscapes for a nice dinner out for our friends 30th birthday. We wanted nice and fancy, and that is exactly what we got. Located inside the grande dunes marina inn, is this tasteful restaurant with a wide range of delicious meals. Most of the meals on the menu offered were seafood. However, this is was the marina inn, so I didn't expect anything less. We sat down and received complimentary bread, with the best spread! It was olive oil, goat cheese (YUM!), sundries tomatoes, fresh rosemary and fresh thyme. It was so good, I want to try to create it at home myself. I ordered the seared salmon for dinner. It was absolutely amazing. I finished my entire plate which I normally don't do when we go out to eat. The salmon was cooked perfectly and laid on a bed of wilted kale and a pile of green lentils. I can't talk more highly of this dish. It was just that great. I'd go back just to eat it again. It is pricey in my opinion. My fiancé and I got the salmon dish, a chicken dish, and he also ordered one glass of wine. I skipped the alcohol that night, we did not get appetizers, nor dessert, and the bill came to $75 for the two of us, not including tip. But for a rare occasion and a nice place, I enjoyed myself a lot. read more

This place is why God gave us tastebuds! Visited in the off-season, so we were seated immediately. Shared a shrimp cocktail that was so good, with a very tangy cocktail sauce. I then had the pork entree with fingerling potatoes and arugula and it was everything I hope it would be! Fabulous flavor, tender to cut yet a little crispy on the outside. Hubs had the small filet, which was also tender and flavorful- no steak sauce needed! Splurged for dessert on the chocolate mouse cake and vanilla lavender creme brûlée. Both were perfect and a great end to a wonderful meal. Service was spot-on; Sharon was our waitress and she was very nice and attentive. Price-wise, entrees started from $22 and up. Even though we have stayed at this hotel many times, this is the first time that we tried the restaurant for a meal other than the Thanksgiving Day dinner which is done in the ballroom. We went down for Breakfast on Monday and were quite pleased with the visit. We were seated immediately and our server was there to welcome us and take our drink orders. I was surprised, since the hotel was very busy, that there were not more people here. But since the units are condos and have kitchens, my guess is that many people do as we do and bring things in for a light breakfast in the room. It saves money as well even though the breakfast process were reasonable. I ordered the standard over medium eggs, crisp bacon and Hash brown potatoes with toast and Mary opted for the three pancake dish. The portions are more than adequate, they are large! Mary's dish had 3 three pancakes each the size of the dinner plate the were served on and cooked perfectly. I had to help her out and still she left one of them on the plate. And my order was also cooked perfectly with the eggs over medium just right, really crisp four slices of bacon, and a large mound of Hash Brown potatoes cooked to perfection. The server was right there without being over bearing to make sure we had what we needed and were satisfied. This experience tells us that during our next trip we will go back for lunch and/or dinner. read more

We absolutely loved the food here. It's easy to miss, being in the basement of a hotel, but the food makes it worth seeking out. We had the burrata to start, the pasta with white clams, and the ribeye. The one thing that I didn't like about our meal was the roasted fingerlings that came with the ribeye. They were way overdone and we barely touched them. Besides that, everything was great and the service was fantastic! We took a stroll around the property afterward to try and work off some of our meal. If we make it back to Myrtle Beach one day, we will surely return to try some of their other dishes. read more

What a beautiful property! We thoroughly enjoyed our Thanksgiving supper in the large and spacious dining ballroom. The buffet was enormous and delicious! So many items to choose from. The price point is where you would expect it to be at this level of quality. Our server Randy, was perfect not to intrusive and cleared as we went along. We very much enjoyed the woman harpists, it was such a nice touch. The dessert table was just right. I did miss some crème anglaise with the bread pudding. My husband and I are staying at Marina Inn for our anniversary. We like to take advantage of room service and like to call ourselves food critics (haha). I never write reviews but I felt prompted to because I was severely disappointed. I ordered the Carolina Mariner and my husband ordered the Garden Omelet. While the food arrived promptly, I did not get everything I ordered and the food was severely lacking in flavor for a $50 tab. Honestly I would have enjoyed IHOP much better (we could have also eaten there for $20) and that is a shame because at a high quality hotel you expect the food to be exceptional. Six of us dined at WaterScapes, Wednesday evening and what a marvelous experience. It was Darlene's' stepfathers birthday and if you are looking for thee place to dine for a special occasion, this is it. The restaurant is located in the Marina Inn at the Grande Dunes and is one of only four properties that have a 4 star rating along the Grand Strand (there are no 5 star resorts). Upon entering the Inn you realize immediately that you have been catapulted outside of the Myrtle Beach Florissant light show and large try to be special resorts. The wood, winding staircases, wrought iron, chandeliers, paintings and art all catch your eye. With the drinks they brought out baskets of breads which are baked in house and all 3 were incredibly good and the flavored butters were great! We started out sharing appetizers of : Wood-Grilled Flat Bread House-Made Mozzarella, Slow Cooked Pulled Pork, Caramelized Onions Pan Seared Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes Pepper Chow Chow & Mustard Remoulade Shrimp with a wonderful what I think was a Thai Sweet Chili Sauce. Entrees of Triggerfish were ordered by 2 and both these people fish on a regular basis and said this was one of the best fish meals they ever had. By the way fish is hand chosen daily in Murrells Inlet. This is the only one I remember that did not come with a large heavy steak knife, it came with a butter knife only and, seriously you could cut it with just the fork, unreal. How unfortunate that the service continues to falter....a real discredit to the kitchen which presumably continues to provide exceptional and local offerings. This is the SECOND TIME in a row that we have been seated by an unprofessional, under trained, and totally unmotivated hostess.....how is it these restaurants don't get that the hostess is your guests first impression ? . We were seated....and waited...and waited....and ultimately left....just like the last time. The restaurant had THREE tables occupied...really ? You can't even bring water ? Simple old servers trick....deliver water IMMEDIATELY to glue your guests to their seats ! The restaurant is already battling the unfortunate necessity of having to navigate through hallways filled with idiots and their children...I don't understand how so many restaurants don't take the time to train their staffs...and how servers don't understand they are essentially "self employed" and will see an increase in income commensurate with their level of competency and professionalism. We then headed to Aspen Grille.....what a difference ! Energetic, professional, and well informed young lady hostess ! Staying at the Marina Inn we decided to venture downstairs for a late evening dinner. With the dinner crowd long gone we were comfortably seated in a quiet dining area. Our waiter welcomed us and was polite, attentive and informative in explaining the dining choices. The dinner menu - while somewhat limited - is probably one of the most exotic you'll find in the Myrtle Beach area. Under the "Small Plates" selection we tried "Summer Tomato Tart" with smoked goat cheese which was enjoyed. Under "Large Plates" the "Grilled Shrimp" with tomato-leek gravy was very good but portioned small as was the "Roasted Vegetable & Mascarpone Ravioli". We found ourselves going back to the parmigiana bread basket with its wonderful spread given to us as we were seated. The Roast Chicken (off the bone) with potato gnocchi was also enjoyed. Dessert was also unique. 1-Carrot Cake with Ice Cream - Cake covered in a tasty vanilla icing with separate warm small carrot. It worked. 2-Coffie and Donuts - It's actually Chocolate Pudding in an espresso type cup with small donut type cake. Looking for a different dining option - this is the place. read more

This was such a find! We had no wait which was very surprising given we were just there last week and every other restaurant seemed to be an hour wait at minimum. I was a little scared because the restaurant was almost empty but don't let that detour you. The food was AMAZING! I've never seen such a beautiful presentation and the food to go with it was incredible. This was by far my favorite meal of the week. You will pay for it but well worth it. I would say average meal is in mid 20-30's...however compared to the big chains at broadway or barefoot...if you have kids this is a much nicer experience with out all the wait. read more

After reading the mixed reviews we decided to "give it a try anyway" and we are pleased we did. It was very quiet for a Saturday evening so our server was able to take especially great care of us and we appreciated the attention. Dinner was a series of hits starting with a wonderful fried green tomato/ pimento cheese appetizer (a little hint to management.....packaged crackers did not do justice to the dish so how about stepping that up). Me and my boyfriend had an amazing meal here. I had steak, which was so tender. The bread and herb mix that they bring out before the meal was so good. You could tell that the herbs are fresh in that dip. The only reason it is not a five stars for me is because it is pricey and I feel it could be open until 10 instead of 9:30. Food was outstanding. Dinner started with fhe delivery of an assortment of fresh-baked breads served with artisinal butter and a herb-cheese spread that was scrumptious. We ordered crab corn chowder (fabulous and generous portion) and steamed clams as a starter followed by the fish special (Drum) which was excellent and served with a reddish rice and green beans (fabulous again). Dessert was a chocolate torte with toffe crumbles and vanilla sauce (melted ice cream?). The flavor was great but texture of cake suggested it was a few days old. Overall a great meal; however quality of service reduced my 5 rating to a 4. We were abandoned after the main course was delivered. I had to get up and flag down the hostess to get a dessert menu and get our empty plates cleared. If you're in the area and are looking for a nice, quiet, slightly fancy night out, I highly recommend WaterScapes. We made a reservation through Open Table... the restaurant had plenty of tables but reservations were suggested (not required), so we did it just in case. The hostess was friendly and quick to seat us when we arrived and our server got our drink order quickly from the bar as well. We ordered the shrimp cocktail and a Caesar salad to share as appetizers. Not too adventurous, but definitely delicious. The shrimp had a great seasoning on it... much improved from the normal plain boiled shrimp you normally get at restaurants. The Caesar was great, dressing nice and tangy. Nothing to write home about, but a good salad. Also, the bread comes with this goat cheese/olive oil/sun-dried tomato/thyme/Rosemary concoction.... I'm not a huge Rosemary fan, but the combination spread on some bread was quite good. I doubt the bread is house made, but it was fine nonetheless. We don't get too picky about bread. For dinner my husband ordered the shrimp and grits, which he said was good. He didn't realize it came with mushrooms, so he picked around those. Kind of a weird addition to shrimp and grits in our opinion, but still good. I ordered the 5oz filet mignon. It was cooked perfectly and came with a mild butter sauce and these roasted onions and tomatoes that were delicious. It also came with green beans (ordinary, in my opinion), and a yummy scalloped potato bake as sides. I eat small portions, so I only tasted the potatoes and beans and focused on the delicious steak. All in all, it was a great dinner. I wished they had tables for two by the window so we could experience the marina view. So my review reflects that plus the minor things above, but a solid four stars for us. A great date night for sure. read more

We arrived at the hotel at 9pm yesterday and we had had a very long day already. We went to the resultant to eat and we were very disappointed. We were greeted promptly and once we asked where we should sit the waitresses acted like we had done something wrong. They had already set up for breakfast the next morning and told us we couldn't sit without a white tablecloth under our table settings. The whole restaurant had one other couple in it, once we started laughing at how awkward they had mad it the other couple also found the situation amusing. I ended up leaving because I could tell there was little interest to serve us food at 9:15 at night when they closed at 10pm. That really turned me off, I didn't get a chance to try to food so I can't rate that and that's the reason for the two star. read more

Great food with great service and atmosphere. Have had a wonderful experience both times we have gone. They recently implemented a new menu with more seafood and plenty of steak options. Enjoyed the WaterScapes salad and crab cakes were delicious. Key lime tart for dessert was creamy and crust was perfect. Good wine selection and my dad enjoyed his Manhattan. Blekh disgusting ... I don't understand this place - it's supposed to be in one of the best hotels but this whole area has nothing to offer in terms of food - the ravioli has water pouring out and had a red sauce thrown over it- cheese Inside was grainy and it was an appalling dish Tomato bisque was decent but my husbands burger was anything but fresh ... Undercooked patty with no chargrill just a plain frozen patty - tasteless bleu cheese and frozen French fries. It's almost upsetting that even this place was disappointing. Bay naturals is probably the only place that didn't taste like yucky food. They gave a ten dollar discount which I appreciate but no amount of discount can compensate for a ruined lunch . I wouldn't go back. The food was fine but expensive ($4.00 for a sm glass of milk at breakfast -and we have no problem paying for a quality meal). However the entire time a rude (large) group of golfers were in there apparently holding a pre-golf meeting that was loud and inappropriate (conversation and decible). We complained to the waitress who did nothing and was clearly clueless and did nothing (other then make ridiculous excuses). Someone who was obviously a hotel manager came in, went to look into the situation then also did nothing! When we left we told the hostess how inappropriate the situation was (she knew) but only responded "okay ". So this is supposed to be high end? Well maybe that's ok in that area but i guess we have higher expectations in New England! Completely disappointed! read more

I was staying at the Marina Inn for a business conference and went to lunch here with a colleague. The restaurant itself is very nice but when we arrived the hostess was very unprofessional. We weren't greeted at all and were just asked do you have a reservation. We stated no and she said seated us once we were seated outside the waitress arrived and asked what we wanted to drink because we were at a business conference we were concerned about getting our lunch in a timely fashion so that we would be back on time for our conference at the hotel. The waitress was very agitated and stated she didn't know when the food would come up because there were several tables ahead of us and that it may be 45 minutes! I ordered the fried green tomato stack it arrived 30 minutes later it was very good but the portion was pretty small. The food here is good but the service was poor the restaurant itself is very beautiful. I feel that the restaurant was understaffed and I believe that a place of this caliber should be prepared to handle large crowds and more customer service orientied. read more

Went to Waterscapes for my birthday dinner. As the guest of honor, I obviously tasted all of the dishes we ordered. The short rib ragout had so much flavor and melt in your mouth beef. The crab cake was generous with meat and not filler. The scallops were cooked to perfection and reminded me why I LOVE them. The filet was among the best we've had.
