Tried to have dinner here. Arrived early for our dinner reservation and we were seated promptly while being told we would love it here! Given menus and water. Told our server would be right with us ---twice. After 20 minutes of waiting and watching sole server struggling with table of 6--we left. The restaurant should consider hiring more than 1 waitress. Although 4 tables of 2 and 1 table of 6 should not be a problem for a competent waitress. They're trying too hard to be swanky. Should concentrate on the basics. read more

Excellent find among the sea of mediocre seafood buffet restaurants that typifies Myrtle Beach. The food was distinctive, expertly prepared and presented. Be sure to try the filet sliders a real treat. We were there for Father's Day but were quickly seated. Service was excellent. Don't expect waterfront dining. The water is hard to see except for the pool but the food more than makes up for it. read more

After reading the mixed reviews we decided to "give it a try anyway" and we are pleased we did. It was very quiet for a Saturday evening so our server was able to take especially great care of us and we appreciated the attention. Dinner was a series of hits starting with a wonderful fried green tomato/ pimento cheese appetizer (a little hint to management.....packaged crackers did not do justice to the dish so how about stepping that up). Our mains were a well cooked pork chop and a grilled steak that were well prepared and cooked exactly to order. I loved the offerings! However, Vera was disappointed -- with good reason -- in the Shrimp with Grits she ordered. That dish was way too busy and confusing. Shrimp and Grits, a fine old staple of Low Country cuisine, was manhandled with an assault of tomatoes, over-cooked ham chunks, a little too much scallion and a potporri of herb/spices. The shrimp, with tough tails-on, can be overlooked, but the whole thing was a vast, soupy mess. Vera was quiet during the meal.However I could tell something was amiss -- despite her initial protestations to the contrary. For me, my incredibly well-prepared and tender Rib Eye was everything I could want: grilled to perfection and topped with a julienned mixture of scallion, tomatoes, and butter. All served on a bed of crispy asparagus and spinach. The added side of roasted potatoe make this a dream entree! This was truly a "Jekyll-and-Hyde" evening. Our wines were perfect -- a white Zin for Vera and a modest Cab for me. No room for desert! Needless to say, I enjoyed Vera's left-over entree as my "breakfast" the next morning. We had an incredible dinner at this gem of a restaurant located on the ground floor of the Grand Marina Inn. The dining room over looks the lavish pool at the Inn and there is an outdoor patio that, unfortunately, was not open on the night we visited. We shared an order of the duck nachos that quickly became a favorite dish. They are made with crispy wantons and piled high with sumptuous braised duck with salsa Fresca and cheese. For the main course we sampled the delectable brown butter gnocchi featuring wilted vegetables and the seared scallops from the menu. They were both simply divine, but the most amazing dish was one of the night's special of crispy sea bass on a bed of shrimp risotto which hit all the right notes. The service was very hospitable and the drinks were top notch. I HIGHLY recommend this wonderful restaurant as we experienced one of the most memorable meals that we have had in a long time! read more

This restaurant was so accommodating ! They treated us like Royalty and had the most amazing Mother's Day buffet! Worth every penny. We had everything from chilled shrimp, beef tenderloin, shrimp and grits in a martini glass... All so good .. Several selections of salads and desserts! Nancy was a fabulous server! read more

A very enjoyable dinner. One of the few places in myrtle beach that offers local ingredients. The chef is very interested in reducing the carbon footprint of his restaurant, and these factors alone made it a very appealing destination. As already stated in other reviews, the dinner began with delicious in-house bread and crispy flatbread accompanied with artisan butter and cream cheese spread. The entrees were both pasta based. I had what was termed lobster Mac, which was basically an extremely liberal interpretation of Mac and cheese with lobster. Of course, it was much more thoughtful and elegant than simply that. The pasta, all freshly made of course, was tossed with a delightful three cheese sauce with herbs and lobster. It was topped with a smattering of bread crumbs. It was delicious and not as heavy as may be imagined. My fiancé had another pasta dish, which consisted of bow tie pasta, also made in house, with fresh grilled vegetables and topped with grass fed chicken. It was all tossed with olive oil. Neither dish was elegant or pretentious, and both were flavorful and prepared thoughtfully. The waiters were very nice and explained the dishes well, the restaurant, while nice, was definitely casual and unassuming. The couple next to us had on jean shorts, and nobody seemed to be trying to impress anyone. While the experience wasn't elegant per se, the cuisine was worthy of an elegant setting. The menu was more extensive, and the other things offered there were intriguing. We only both got pasta dishes because that's what we wanted. They do a lot more than that, and I'm anxious to try whatever else that catches my eye next time I visit. read more

Went here for a fun/romantic birthday dinner at the suggestion of our travel agent from Amex and was sorely disappointed. The name is misleading- there is no water view and the decor matches the hallways of the hotel. There is no ambience and the staff is friendly but not very attentive. Drinks are strong but food is overpriced for the quality. Shrimp cocktail was slimy with random vegetables swimming in the sauce and I had the scallops which were well presented and cooked but nothing special and also had random flavorless accoutrements. Creme Brûlée was too thin on the custard and too thick on the sugar which turned into a sloppy too-sweet mess. The addition of screaming children during our entire meal was also not enjoyable- overall It was not an experience I would look forward to again. Disappointed that we had such a bad experience when there are so many good reviews. read more

We were on vacation and visited Waterscapes for dinner. It was very good so we went back a 2nd time before we left town. The beef tenderloin sliders (small plate) were outstanding as was the scallops and filet. We vacation in Myrtle Beach every year, but this was the first time we stayed at the Marina Inn and subsequently dined there twice. We will be back every year at least once. The service was great and they accommodated a guest who had food allergies. Nice job all around. read more

This meal was melt in your mouth delicious! We were very tired from our trip and close it because of its location. The Filet Mignon was buttery and cooked to perfection while the Jamaican Airline chicken was equally delicious! Topping this all off with the Chocolate bread pudding was the perfect ending to a wonderful meal. read more

This is as good as it gets in Myrtle Beach; which is to say that it is on par with the better but not the best restaurants in a place like Charleston; ingredients are great, dishes are imaginative, service was good; atmosphere is a little bland-- hotel-like. But overall we have consistently had very good experiences at Waterscapes and hope it thrives. read more

Just had The best dinner since moving here in 2006 !! I wish I had known about Waterscapes sooner. We have been to Frank's , Austins Ocean One, The Brentwood , The Parsons Table, The Library just to name a few of the better restaurant in the area ... BUT ... Waterscapes was by far the BEST... The service was awesome... Thanks NANCY .. Our waitress .. A little sass with lots of class. If you haven't been here for dinner YOU NEED TO BE. We will definitely be making this one of our go to resturants from now on. read more
