I'm going to update my review. We didn't eat here this time, just drank. But they had a DJ that was fun and the waitress was really good but seriously weeded. I don't understand how they had only one person working all of that outdoor seating. Poor thing was doing her best but it was a beautiful day and the place was PACKED. We came here for dinner one evening. We were slow to get sat at a table, and there seemed to be confusion on who was going to serve us, but once that was worked out we were good to go. There were two big parties in there that hadn't gotten their food yet, so our server was great about taking our order and getting us in before the other two, which was nice. We ordered the 12 wings (6 Thai chili/6 lemon pepper), a side of broccoli, mussels, and the photos classic burger. The lemon pepper wings were a wet sauce and not the typical dry seasoning...these were not good at all. I don't like sending food back so I dealt with it, but I'd avoid that sauce unless it's something you've had before and really like. The Thai chili was good though and I wish all 12 were the Thai chili. My son said the burger was too juicy...which was something I never thought would actually be a problem. He took a bite and burger juice got on his shirt...I laughed and told him that was a good problem to have. My nephews said the mussels were good; his plate was full of them and they looked good enough. I also ordered the sweet tea. Overall, the restaurant seems to be complacent. The location is great but other than that, I don't recommend. Food - wings were small and overcooked. Rice pilaf looked like the grocery store one but butter added to change the taste. Waygu burger was dry. Mac and cheese was too liquidity and tasted right out of the microwave. Service - our server was good. But the older black hair server was rude. She made rude comments under her breathe. She just wanted to go home. It closes at 10pm and the comments started at 9:25pm. She made a fuss about cleaning our table that wasn't hers. Lots of improvement for food and service that needs to be made. read more

We paid over a $115 for a meal for 3 one would think the service and food would be good. We arrived at 7 pm on Oct. 1 so maybe it was the time of day. A clue should have been when my daughter said, mom there is no one in here. We found a few tables outside that had people so we decided to stay. I wish we had not. The service was slow and little no attention to detail. We ordered 3 entrees and a clam chowder that we asked if they would being out first, with two spoons. We waited and had a feeling everything would show up at once. A waitress who was not ours brought out the food. Put it down as quick as possible then dashed away. Didn't even ask does this look okay and do you need anything. The fried food was hot and the broiled platter was not and got colder as we waited at least 10 minutes for our waitress to check back. In the meantime, we had no condiments except the cocktail that came with two entrees. We needed and didn't have ketchup, salt, pepper, sour cream for the baked potato that was asked for, needed drinks refills and there was nothing at all for the broiled seafood platter not even a wedge of lemon. When I asked what the seafood platter was normally served with she said nothing just plain. She offered cocktail and I asked if they had drawn butter. She was not sure and said if they did she would need to bring out in a cup because it would be hot. I was happy about that because it would heat up the cold seafood. I shared with the waitress the platter was cold but no reaction or response. When she picked up our plates two entrees had been eaten and one hardly touched. Not a word was said. read more

HOTO's is our go to in North Myrtle Beach! We are in town about every other summer and it's walkable to our lodging which we love. It feels like a little secret, because it never looks busy and we never have to wait. We also love Boardwalk Billy's and Bouy's, but we know we never have to wait to be seated at HOTO's so if we are crunched for time it's a no brainer. Tiki bar atmosphere with ocean views is great and they have the best fish tacos next to Captain Archie's IMO. We go as a date, or with our two young kids and are always accommodated well. I saw the last few reviews were not favorable and wanted to set the record straight. I'll be heading there soon and plan to take my extended family. read more

We had a great experience nice indoor seating area for rainy days at Myrtle Beach did not venture to the outdoor seating because of the rain. Our server was very prompt polite and on point food was great and it came out fast. Only reason I didn't give it a 5 star, is because we did not care for the coleslaw, other than that everything was fantastic our party of 8 really enjoyed. Thank you! read more

Only a short walk from the condo. We stopped in our last night in town for the live music on the stage outside. Excellent band playing. Service was great and the small nachos appetizer was on point. The drinks weren't weak. Although the inside restaurant was empty and the bathrooms were filthy. I would definitely return for outdoor seating, live music and adult beverages. read more

We came here for dinner and it took awhile to get noticed before being seated. Once we were seated the staff was pleasant. I got a beer and my wife got a mixed drink. The beer was good but, the mixed drink let a lot to be desired. We got our food in a reasonable amount of time and the portions were large but mine was luke warm and I prefer it to be hot. Both me and my wife found the food to be okay tasting but nothing near some of the raving reviews we had read. The cost was a bit on the high side and wasn't worth it. We usually go late morning/early afternoon and never had any issues! It is on the ocean front of the Spanish Galleon resort Yelp needs to fix the location. The view is great and the food never disappoints! You can always taste how fresh everything is! We love the ahi tuna appetizer and the fried scallop sandwich! TBH, I don't know if this is the right place because I am shocked there's no Yelp presence! We enjoyed our time at HOTO's! First, the views are great. Right on the ocean with a beautiful breeze. Second, our waiter was hilarious and amazing. The place was big on the inside with a patio in the back, where we sat with our baby and stroller! The food was fine! Most everything we tried was good (the crab dip and the cheese curds especially), I got a platter of seafood and it was great except I didn't love the fried fish, it had a weird texture. The food was amazing! We got potato skins and they were so good! Not like your traditional ones but more like fries/chips with a sauce, green onions and bacon. Next we had Caesar salads, which were a very good mix of toppings and lettuce. I had the Philly, my daughter had wings with old bay, husband had shrimp tacos and my boy had a hamburger. Nobody had any complaints on the food which is the first time this happened on our vacation. We loved it and will definitely be back. The server, hostesses, and food runner we're all so very nice and accommodating. The ambiance was beach and appropriate for families. They also have live music some nights. We come here every year. Usually we stay within walking distance, but this year we staying in Myrtle Beach, so we had to drive. They don't have a parking lot, so expect to either pay for parking or if you're lucky, find a spot on the street. The building sits right on the beach with a view from the back outdoor seating, so sit out back. We came during the Thursday night concert. It's awesome. So many locals drive their golf carts and pack the streets with their chairs to listen to the local, live music. It's quite fun. Luckily, we came late enough in the evening that we were able to find a spot in their outdoor seating without having to wait. The service was quick for such a busy evening. Our waitress was nice. The food was fresh. We ordered the calamari. It could of been cooked just a tad bit longer to make them a little crunchier, but they were still tasty. They also came with fried bell peppers. Those were so good! I'd order them again. I ordered the BBW Porkbelly burger. It was ok. The porkbelly had a good flavor, but also could of been cooked a little longer and it only came with 4 pieces. Other, than that, it was good. I liked the bbq sauce on it. If I were to get a burger in the future, it would be a cheeseburger all the way, no add-ons. The fries were crispy. My friend ordered a buffalo chicken sandwhich. The chicken was thick and juicy and cooked to perfection. Some of her onion rings were a little big, but she was able to bite through them without the onion coming out like they do sometimes. It was out first evening in Myrtle Beach and we were hungry. Our first restaurant choice had a 45 minute wait and a crowd. Luckily Hoto's was close by with no wait. They have live music outside but we opted for indoors until we saw the beautiful ocean view back patio. The patio has plenty of big tables for a family of 5 to get comfortable. Stopped by Hoto's on my way out of town for a "last look at the beach" lunch. Sat outside on their covered porch area which was great. Loved that I could see, smell and hear the ocean. Music was loud enough to hear without being obnoxious...classic rock on with a heavy dose of Pink Floyd, Pearl Jam & J Giles Band...which was to my liking. The service was fast, friendly and spot on. Ordered drinks, which came out quickly, then the food, which was also quick to arrive. The drink menu wasn't huge, but adequate, with enough variation to please anyone. I got a canned local beer and it came out ice cold. The menu had the basic surf side cafe choices, with appetizers, burgers, seafood, and salads. I decided to try the fish tacos, blackened, and fries. The order came with 3 street tacos. Fish was flaky and cooked well. There was not a ton of flavor, even with the blackened order, but not bad overall. I added more black pepper and some Texas Pete hot sauce to the last one and that kicked up the flavor. Fries were battered lightly and cooked well. If you are looking for a beachfront cafe and good food, at a reasonable price in Myrtle Beach, this is your place!!! This review is for the location on the beach, not sure why Harold's on the Ocean is showing up a LONG way from the ocean. First and foremost the food was fantastic. I tried the pork belly tacos and I couldn't complain about it if I tried. On the food alone this would have easily been a 5/5, even with decent service I could have given it a solid 5. But that's where HOTOS let us down. Our server had two larger tables, ours and one other yet we never saw her. She brought half our table our drinks and we didn't see her again for 20 minutes. We saw her standing at the prep station talking to another server. We didn't order cocktails or bar drinks, just water and lemonade. The food came out and she asked if we needed anything. My mom asked for a side of mayonnaise that never came because whatever the gossip at the prep station was apparently a lot more important. Our drinks stayed dry the entire time and we never even got one of the lemonades we ordered. Then the mandatory 20% gratuity wasn't mentioned to us, I would have given her 10% just because I don't stuff people but her getting 20% off a table she visited 3 times in an hour and a half is ludicrous. I must say I will never return to this establishment and I can't recommend it to anyone. The food is great but dealing with the unhappy staff and management that walks around, asks you how your food is and still doesn't get the mayonnaise when you ask them, makes this place so much less than it could be. read more

We were seated by an older woman hostess inside. It was very dark and dingy looking inside. Definitely not a beach side restaurant feel. We asked if we could sit outside. She said there were no available tables, when there were 3 tables available. I pointed out to her the open tables. She then said she couldn't seat us there because of the servers. She saw I was annoyed and then stated "it's a full moon out and there are a lot of rude people" and walked away. I can not believe she said that!!!! She was the rude one saying that. If my children weren't starving I would have left. I will never dine here again. To add the service was extremely slow, and they had 6 tables total out of 19 tables. First off, all of the servers were clearly confused because we constantly saw food taken to the wrong tables and even our food was delivered to another table first. I can let it slide once or twice, but everyone? My food was also quite cold and not good. I got a flatbread which didn't even come with everything on it that the menu listed. My friend got a burger which she claimed was fine and my sister ordered a fish sandwich which she said wasn't great either. I don't normally complain about service or give a bad review on that alone, but combined with the food, our whole experience was not good. I hope this place can be better in the future since it is in a prime location with a nice view. read more
