Wow...just, wow. Amazing service and amazing food. Our waiter, David, was personable, knowledgeable, and very attentive; honestly, one of the best waiters I've ever had. American Wagu Flat Iron was amazing, mashed potatoes were the best I've ever had, and cheesecake was great. I can't recommend this place enough. The caveat is, it might look closed from the outside because the bar is through a set of doors behind the dining room, and I guess most people eat in the bar area. We almost didn't come in because we thought they were closed, but we are so glad we did come in. One of the best meals/dining experiences I've ever had. read more

My wife and I went to the Crooked Oak tonight for dinner. It is our anniversary and we have made going there on our anniversary a tradition, the past few years. This evening was a very good experience, mostly. Let's get the less than positive out of the way. We made reservations for 5PM. We were out and about and got there about a half an hour early. Walk in, spoke with the hostess and explained we knew we were early. (By the way, there were very few people in the restaurant at the time). The Hostess, an older female with longish greying hair, huffed then showed us to a table. She at least took us to an outside table as we requested. She never identified herself. And honestly we felt as if we were bothering her. Ok, enough of that. Now the positive. Our server was Taylor. This young man was awesome. He was upbeat and personable. Very pleasant and wanted to communicate, not just serve us. My wife and I asked for water, and ordered an appetizer of their Mac and Cheese balls. They were awesome. Hot, fresh, stuffed with pasta and warm flavorful cheese. Next we ordered cocktails. My wife ordered a Painkiller. Me an Old Fashion. Taylor recommended I try their version, New Fashion. Made with their mix of a house Bourbon. Man it was good. And the Painkiller? Let's just saw I held my wife hand, and guided her to our vehicle. For our main courses, my wife had the chicken and sausage pasta. I had the Bison Ribeye. Both we would order again without hesitation. The pasta dish was huge. With two breasts and numerous pieces of sausage. Over Fettuccini style pasta, with a lite and flavorful red sauce. It tasted fresh, and rich. She could only eat about a third of it. The rest came home. I ordered my Bison medium rare. The Chef hit it perfectly. Beautiful red meat in the center, nice and warm. So much flavor, and tender. With it I had the potato of the day. They were mashed with the skin. Full of butter, milk, and seasoned. In addition I had a side of creamed spinach. Very rich and deep. The cream tasted similar to a cheese sauce. So good. I brought nothing home. Finished the entire meal there. In addition, because it was our anniversary, the gave us a very nice card. And a piece of cake for dessert. Champaign was offered, but neither of us drink it, and didn't want to waste it. If you haven't tried Crooked Oak Tavern, you are missing a very nice experience. read more

I happened to be in Conway for a week, on my own. One evening I went to Crooked Oak & fortunately heard about the "secret room" in the back. The host very kindly escorted me there & what a great surprise! The Tap Room host, Joanne, saw me looking a bit lost & greeted me. I didn't want to take a whole table as I was just there for a cocktail. Joanne suggested one of the leather lounge chairs & got me settled. She made me feel very comfortable. I'm old school enough that as a woman I felt awkward being in an unfamiliar town in a bar full of strangers. Joanne reassured me & checked on me throughout the evening. I had a fabulous Old Fashion, enjoyed the multiple TV's & ended up conversing & laughing with a whole family who were also visiting. We had such a great experience at Crooked Oak Tap! The vibe is really cool from the moment you walk in and you can choose between the main dining area, which is super cute and welcoming, or head to the back pub area, which has a more laid-back feel. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, which made the whole experience even better. And the food? Fantastic. We literally cleaned our plates. The burgers were cooked perfectly to each of our requested temperatures, and the house-cut fries were absolutely delicious. They also have an excellent draft selection! All in all great food. Got there early and went to the bar/lounge area in the back room. Totally crowded but while waiting to order two drinks two fellows said they were getting up and we could have their seats. Got a great Manhattan up and a cosmo. Settled up because you can't leave for dining until you do. About a half hour later my phone notified us that our table was ready. Took our cocktails with us while two ladies hopped into our seats. Since we had cocktails our waiter came and explained the menu and specials. First glitch three times before the water arrived. No bread or rolls here. We both had salads me Caesar which was great! My wife had the beet salad. It was supposed to be to have buffalo mozzarella balls. None to be found. When our waiter finally returned he apologized and returned with several which came home with us. The place while not cheap does have superior steaks. Both came with mashed potatoes. They did not come with steak knives and had to ask. My wife got the filet medium rare and it was. Her plate was clean as a whistle. I got the 14 ounce ribeye medium rare and it was. Perfect amount of marbling that made for a juicy cut of meat. I had a second cocktail and the wife red wine. How to start off with it was a little pricey, but I would do it all again. Service at the bar was really good. Justice was very knowledgeable and patient with us. Stopped for lunch while checking out the city of Conway's transformation to the City of Halloween . We sat at the bar and the bartender Justice was great, we grabbed a couple burgers and a drinks . The burger was perfectly cooked I'm an old butcher and picky when it comes to meat , these were like I made them myself. The wall of whiskey/bourbon is a sight to see as well. Maybe my expectations were too high for this spot. The good: beautiful scallop dishes, friendly and attentive service, perfect Creme brulee. The not so good: cosmo wasn't well chilled so I had to add ice to it, my NY Strip was tough and fatty, interior/atmosphere was underwhelming, my $10 side of mushroom peppercorn sauce tasted mostly like cream. For their prices, I expected a great steak but wouldn't be likely to return for it, maybe for the scallops. Hope we caught them on a bad night. read more

The Crooked Oak Tavern is a gem. My party and I sat in the tavern part in the back. On one side a comfortable couches lined the table, on the other chairs. Once we were seated we were met with our very attentive server, Taylor. Taylor was very friendly and helpful. He kept us engaged. He went over the specials we had, talked us through drink orders. Shared some of the reviews he has heard from other customers, shared his own dining experiences there and left us with a smile as he put in our drink orders and appetizers. From that time we got our drink orders to the very last bite of our meals, Taylor made sure we knew that our comfort was a priority. He checked several times to see if we had everything we needed, before telling us that he would leave us alone to eat. He miraculously showed up when our drinks were empty to offer us another. He displayed patience when my older friend needed help reading the bill, and showed her how to use her tap to pay. Taylor never made me feel rushed. I never felt like he was just there for a job. I have never gotten better service. While it was my first visit- a couple in our party are frequently eating there. They said that Taylor is just one example of the consistently great service. The food brought them there the first time (and it is fantastic food), but it is the top-tier service that really set it above for them. I agree with that assessment. I can see why they go almost every weekend. If you are in Conway and want to be spoiled for a while, stop by Crooked Oak Tavern. read more

This was my go to restaurant for sometime. Went on Valentines night and was absolutely disappointed. Many menu items were unavailable including a beer that we had the previous dinner there that they were out. Between watching 2 managers standing in the front on the kitchen entrance never checking the food going out and absolutely not even going to the tables making sure everything was OK. Just so disappointed how much Crooked Oat has changed and not for the better. I've been holding back my review for a while because this is the one restaurant I always recommended. Maybe it was a off day however Valentines Day Dinner is more about the atmosphere as well as the food and it should be one dinner where you shine. Very nice place. Went there for brunch on Valentine's Day with my wife and had a very good time. Staff were all super nice, polite and friendly. Even though mimosas were not on menu they made them for us anyway. Alligator bites and French onion soup were very good apps. Christopher's Cuban sandwich was very tasty. Food was OK. Had the Bison burger which was great. Asked to sub the side for the Truffle Fry Trio which cost $14 and was more like over fried potato sticks with a dipping sauce. We were disappointed because we saw the fries on yelp and assumed it was the actual fries with 3 dipping sauces. Scalloped potatoes were also subbed as a side and cost $14. They were good. But not for $14. When you sub a side we expected an up charge, not the full cost of the side! I should've at least had my actual side in addition. The menu lacks descriptions and our bartender didn't have any answers or offer any information. The other bartender explained everything after we got the bill so we obviously got someone who didn't know or care. The bar atmosphere is very nice. I'm going to start with the bad. My order was not what i ordered. I ordered an American burger and collards what i got was a burger and fries. Server never asked if there was anything else, my ice tea melted. Now the rest of the story, the burger and fries were great needed mustard and ketchup, but very tasty. The reason i ordered collards is due to my experience with other restaurants and bad fries, the fries here are great tasty and fresh. The place is large and lunch was quiet. This place would have gotten a 5 star had i ordered fries and got ketchup and mustard. As a side note the menu needs to use a larger font in a dimly lit restaurant. read more

At night they have lights and music and it's so relaxing and beautiful to sit outside. I always go for the fish sandwich which has been a go-to for many people and everybody raves about their food. Absolutely delicious... only drawback was the dressing for the bowl (honey mustard lemon vinaigrette). Honey mustard overpowered it. Ordered lemon wedges to squeeze on the arugula. This is a remarkably good restaurant. We are visiting from out of town and I visited this place based on its Yelp reviews. It lived up to my expectations. The food was delicious-- I had the dirty fries followed by fish. The fish was just okay, actually, but the fries were great. My husband had shrimp and grits which he said were excellent. The staff were professional and friendly and efficient. If I'm ever in Conway again (a long-shot) I will definitely return. We visited without a reservation at 6:00 on a Friday in summer and we were seated immediately. read more
