This place is, by far, the smallest place I've ever had dinner in (it only seats 22), but the food is done extraordinarily well. I had the Pan Seared Scallops with a wild rice blend and carrots. While the rice was okay, the scallops were PERFECT and the carrots had a nice char and sweetness to it. The wife had a Duck Sausage and Chicken over Penne. Also delicious as well. There always seems to be something new and fresh on the menu and the owners are always eager to talk to their customers (time permitting). Burgers and sandwiches come with HOMEMADE hand cut fries. My husband and I got take out here for lunch. We work downtown and it's easy to walk to. My husband got the Thanksgiving sandwich and said it was delicious. I had a side salad and pumpkin soup which was a daily special. Both the salad and soup were delicious. They gave me a house balsamic dressing that tasted homemade. The soup was thick and filling. Service was a little slow, but not bad considering it was 1230pm. Neither of us were impressed with the food. He said he prefers the Thanksgiving from D'angelos, and I wasn't a fan of the Hamlet. It didn't come on the bread advertised on the menu. The menu prices online didn't match what we found in the store, but it wasn't a big difference. Friendly and funny staff, delicious food with a range of options, and a homey atmosphere. The kitchen is visible from your table, so you can see just how your food is being prepared. I was hesitant about ordering the hummus wrap because I thought "that sounds so healthy that there's no way it could satisfy my taste buds/ravenous stomach". I couldn't have been more wrong, nor could I be more happy to be so! it was absolutely delicious and flavorful with the various hot veggies and the cool spinach wrap. I don't know how they made healthy taste so good, but what I do know is that my figure and I are grateful that they did and I will certainly be back for more!! Almost forgot to mention that all of this deliciousness and nutritiousness can be acquired here at a low price. Went there with wife for breakfast. I had the steak bomb omelette and wife had the crab cakes benedict. We asked for one peanut butter cup pancake and they accommodated us happily. So I just had the Bistro Burger and Pear Tart from the Center Stage, the Theatre Café's new venue, delivered to my door by Bill (the co-owner) himself. It turns out fried onions on a burger is exactly what a burger needs. Who would have thought? Onions add the necessary flavor to a burger, but raw onions tend to leave you breathing it for a few days and sautéed onions make the burger messy and soggy. But the fried onions on this burger added that perfect flavor without overwhelming the meat and without making it a race to consume the meal before the juices render the bun into mush. The added texture is quite the bonus. I don't think anyone has really eaten a burger until they've had this one. And the pear tart? Yummy goodness. I love that the whip cream wasn't runny or overly sweet. The shaved almonds added a nice mouth feel and the pear was perfection. The whole meal, with it myriad textures and co-mingling of complementary flavors was like tasting a complex and beautifully executed work of art. We were headed to the Hanover Theatre to see a show and decided to go in. They were all very welcoming and the food was awesome! When I go out to eat Im looking for how fresh it is and a great taste. I had the salmon dish that was cooked perfect and was delicious. My husband and sister inlaw had the Lobster Fra Diavolo and said it was the best they have had in awhile. They'll even pack it up to go when you'd rather just hang at home- but the cute little dining area is lovely as well.
