Came here on a conference to Phoenix and this was our first stop! Finding it was very tough since it blends into the buildings but there is a large sign out the front. The ambiance here is super nice and quiet, but appeared to be very family friendly. We got the large cinnamon role to start which was so fresh and fluffy! It wasn't overly sweet either. I ended up following that with the hot honey chicken sandwhich was on point - crispy and juicy with the sweet/spicy hot honey. This is a must have when here. Took us a bit to find the place, but we were doing a Midtown visit to the Heard Museum and decided to drop in here for lunch beforehand. They have a huge outdoor patio and misters were blasting, so it was quite comfortable to sit outside. We had the place to ourselves before a big 'girls lunch group' showed up at the end of our meal. Perfect timing :) Since it was hot, we both had crisp cold salads and they were both fantastic. Hubs had the wedge with chicken (loved it) and I had the Greek salad with blackened salmon- cooked to perfection. The ONLY thing I would have liked to have additional was some Tsastiki sauce and they don't have that anymore. Great service and I'll bet this place is the bomb at night. Stumbled upon this spot looking for a drink and a little snack. The chips and dip were tasty and good. It came with A LOT. There were only two of us and we had a lot leftover. Im a sucker for bread pudding so once I saw a butterscotch bread pudding, I had to have it! It was SO GOOD! Im still thinking about it. It was also still good eating it the next day. I've been here a few times over the years and it's just ok. Our server was really nice and friendly and gave suggestions when asked. It was freezing inside. Bring a jacket. The Brussels sprouts salad was extremely tough. The chicken was kind of dry, the green beans were not cooked enough and the potatoes were decent but still not completely cooked sadly. The vibes here are great, but honestly the food is quite overpriced for the portion sizes and quality. This restaurant is located right across from the Salvation Army building, and parking can be a little difficult to find (there's a tiny, shared private lot behind the restaurant and there's mostly street parking, which can be full on a busy night). It took a while to get our table, but there was a nice patio area in the front of the restaurant to wait for our seats. Service was great, and our waitress was really attentive the whole night. I ordered the fries, charcuterie board, Caesar salad, and several cocktails. The fries were overly salted, and we had to ask to get them replaced (only then were they palatable, and it was quite tasty/crispy afterwards). The charcuterie board left a lot to be desired -- I only got a few slices of bread, and the board itself was extremely small and did not hold a lot of food items for being nearly $30. The salad was ok; I found it unusual how they served the salad as whole romaine leaves as opposed to cutting it up, and again the portion size was quite small. The drinks were pretty good but quite pricey. One thing that was frustrating was that we were double-charged for getting the fries replaced. I would hope that as a courtesy they would replace it for free, as it was extremely salty to the point of not being edible, but unfortunately that didn't happen. The outdoor patio is beautiful and has so many cozy places to sit, which I love. My friend and I sat at the bar, but it was a solid 5 minutes of standing before anyone acknowledged us, desire there being one guy behind the bar whose only job seemed to be filling waters. I understand people have different roles, but it was odd he didn't acknowledge anyone or explain that he couldn't take orders. The whole thing seemed chaotic and rude. We finally had someone take our order and the experience did at least improve from there. Our afternoon brunch started with the least friendly hostess I've encountered in a long time. Not only no smile or greeting, but I really felt she had a strong dislike for us. I know that wasn't true, but it felt that way, especially after we were seated and she came back with silverware, which she threw in the table without even looking at us. Our waitress was nice and the Reuben was very good, so not a 1-star review, but my chiliqueles were room temperature, dry, and completely forgettable. Ok, been to all the Vigs... love them. However, the Vig Fillmore has gone waaaay down hill, in regards to customer service, these past couple years. It's very noticeable. Always waiting on the wait staff... from taking orders to clearing tables, the wait staff should change their name to "make you wait, staff." Plus, don't even think of getting a booth inside if there's only two of you... because they'll lie and tell you they're all reserved (they save them for groups of four). Time after time the booths never get filled up. So, they're liars. There's so much wrong with the Vig anymore. What used to be a standout restaurant with an upscale flair is now a run of the mill fast food-like, Mel's Diner. But worse... as you expect bad service from the lower level joints. read more

We made reservations beforehand for brunch so we got sat pretty quickly and there didn't seem to be a long wait. We ordered the chorizo burrito, pozole and blueberry pancakes. My burrito tasted good but it had too much grease so it all pooled at the bottom and I had to wipe my hands after every bite. I had a taste of the pancakes and they were delicious! What I love most about the Vig is their absolutely excellent service. I appreciated ordering one drink during happy hour and then getting to sit there for a couple hours on a Friday night. It's a fabulous place to really spend time with someone and talk in a nice environment. Their happy hour has some good deals, though not as great on the food side as with drinks. The staff are happy to explain what their signature cocktails are like and provide recommendations. I'd expect a larger happy hour menu since theirs is so highly regarded, but the available options are solid. Food-wise, I've shared the sweet chili wings, but I'd consider ordering them as a main dish. The texture and taste were perfect - they're crispy and juicy, with a slight kick and just the right amount of sauce. Their short rib tacos are also pretty good. The short rib is ok, but the sauces and toppings shine, especially the bright-tasting yellow sauce. I hear good things about their mac and cheese, too. They give you the free dessert of your choice on your birthday. The dessert menu is small, but everything on it seemed good. We went with the butterscotch bread pudding, topped with vanilla ice cream, on our waitress's recommendation. Drinks were pleasant but I found myself wanting more options and variety. And despite a full bar the bartenders weren't that familiar with off menu cocktails (they certainly tried to help still). We ordered the Cheeseburger and Veggie Burger. Regular fries with one and sweet potato fries for the other. Food was alright but truthfully kind of disappointing and subpar for taste. I did think the sweet potato fries were particularly crunch and tasty. They were the best part of the food I tried. Both Burgers were just medicore tasting. And had much better tasting elsewhere. To summarize, this is a decent option if your looking to get dinner in downtown Phoenix especially on a busy weekend. Nice welcoming atmosphere and vibe. Where do I start? Appetizer was never put in the order, so our entrees came out before it. Entrees were very bland and under seasoned. We ordered a mojito and they didn't add mint. When we saw the barrata, our hopes were high. Presentation was fantastic. Same problem as the entrees though. Lacked salt, too light on the balsamic, "marinated" tomatoes had no trace of ever seeing a marinade. We sat under a tree which was shedding little flowers and leaves which almost made it even more beautiful. The blood orange margarita was fantastic! Not overly sweet which is how I like it. We ordered the shisito peppers which were good. About one in every five was spicy, a little higher ratio than I'm used to, but nonetheless great with the soy glaze. The brussels sprouts are a MUST HAVE!! the maple glaze had me wiping the dish for more. The cheese board was also good, as was the caesar salad. Our server Mercedes was wonderful and staggered our dishes so we could enjoy things at a nice pace. There was also live music on the patio which was so great to enjoy while eating dinner. Poke Bowl, probably the best one I've ever had. Fish was fresh and light, and all the flavors together really knocked this dish out of the park! Highly recommend!
