My wife and I went to an event at the science center and wanted a new place to eat for us. Based on the photos on their website we decided to try Kettle Black. Keep in mind this was 6 pm on a Sunday night so probably was the reason there was only one other person in the restaurant. We were a little concerned but we stayed anyway based on the photos. Our waiter was super friendly and took our order right away. My wife wanted the Steak salad and I opted for the Rueben with fries. My wife loved her steak salad, the steak was tender and had great flavor. My Rueben was good, a little dry but still good. The reason for the 4 was my draft beer tasted stale, which I'm guessing their lines are dirty or the keg was old. Also the water tasted like well water. We will definitely give them another try when we are back in the area. Service was great.
Small little pub around the corner from the Hyatt Regency hotel. It was great for watching some of the World Cup matches. Food was typical pub style, just okay but nothing special Service was great despite a busy evening.
Great little pub in downtown. The Bacon Onion Burger was delicious. Seasoned and cooked as ordered.
Went here on a Tuesday at 5pm and it was PACKED. It's seat yourself so we were able to squeeze in. The fish and chips were great! As were the cod sliders! I would genuinely go back just for the food. Also the prices were pretty great for the area. The portions were perfect too. My only issue is that it was insanely loud. Like can't-hear-the-person-right-next-to-you kind of loud. So we couldn't have any dinner conversation unless we wanted to yell, which we didn't. It's not really something they can change because it's a busy, cramped space. But other than that, it was a good meal!
Solid bar overall. Very easy going and laid back. Bartender was very nice and attentive. Music was very good variety. They also have TVs for sports goers. The food was solid as well. Ordered mussel and sliders which were filing. No major notes which is why the 3 stars.
Decent pub food. Seat yourself, bar and table seating. Food was good. Ordered the pretzel, Brussel sprouts and soup of the day (creamy chicken vegetable). The soup was really good. Excellent flavors and creamy. Wait staff was attentive and not overbearing. Definitely a classic pub vibe to the place overall.

We've tried everything from the fish and chips, to the California club and various sandwiches. I do prefer the crispy, cod, sliders, you can pair it with a cup of soup for a full lunch. Come and try.
1st Street Burger (3/5): Decent burger but nothing about it really stood out. Mine also came without the onion ring... Fries were just fine. RATING SYSTEM 5 - Great (Need to get this again) 4 - Good (Would get this again) 3 - Ok (Might give this another shot) 2 - Not Good (Won't get this again) 1 - Bad (Telling people to avoid this)

My husband was eager to try a new IPA, but they were out. Another was suggested, but it wasn't good. I stuck with water -- which was great! It took a while to get silverware after our entrees arrived, which was a bit annoying, but dinner itself was good. I ordered the pork belly sliders, and my husband had the Reuben with fries (to share) and a side salad. I love that they offer Thousand Island - so many places don't! My meal was good, his was excellent. Portions were generous, though the fries were undercooked and a little flimsy - good flavor, though. Dinner came to about $60 after tip. Nice to try something different, but overall, not quite worth the effort.
Came DT for the women's FF and a show at AZ Financial. Popped in for lunch. Nice beer selection. Service was ok. Turned off when greeting the server, his first comment was "Busy", as if I couldn't read the room. Food was good but too pricey; $19 chicken Sammie. Beers sat at the bar for several minutes before being served.
We came by from out of town for an early lunch. I'm on vacation, so felt justified trying a flight. About 2 beers on draft were out, but the 4 i selected were very good. My husband and I split a pretzel, which was deliciously scalding hot with a side of very potent Dijon mustard and white cheese sauce. I ordered a full glass of the hazy Spellbinder and was not disappointed. Hubby got the pork belly mac'n cheese, which I had a few bites of. It was pretty good, the cheese had a subtle sweetness from the pork. We sat outside, which I know staff hated, and ended up swapping an outside table to an outside bar stool in the shade. Food was great. Staff was a little slow on things like refilling hubby's iced tea.

By far the best Irish Bar in Downtown Phoenix - even though I have nothing to compare it too! We had the best lunch, setting a very high bar for the rest of our trip to Spring Training! We found some street parking, after leaving the airport and walked into The Kettle Black Kitchen and Pub. The food was incredible and the service was great - the two best things you can hope for. We LOVED the poutine as our appetizer. It was delicious! Ice cold beer and crispy salad made our lunch even better! read more

The best fish and chips in town are at the Kettle Black, hands down! The evening I walked into the Kettle Black was an evening where the pub bustled with activity. Lively chatter filled the room. Families enjoyed their meals along one wall of the pub, while the bartenders worked their way up and down the length of the bar, serving food and drinks to bar patrons. The place was packed, and spirits were high. Once I had seated myself at the bar, I looked over the menu. The Kettle Black offered a good selection of pub food, and I'd come here for dinner after hearing good things about this place through word of mouth. As bar staff started me off with a glass of water, I ordered the fish and chips and the Bavarian pretzel. My food soon arrived piping hot, and I took a bite of the fish first. My first bite was one of surprise! It's not often that I've had fish and chips seasoned with cracked black pepper, and the black pepper really highlighted the dish for me. The fried fish had satisfying crunch and left lingering notes of salt and pepper on my tongue. The tartar sauce was smooth and bright with pickled zing. I enjoyed the comforting salted starchiness of the fries, and the tartness of the freshly cut coleslaw rounded out the dish nicely. The Bavarian pretzel was another winner. Luxurious and buttery, sprinkled with salt, this pretzel was a pleaser. Whether I paired each bite of pretzel with smooth, soft cheese or sharp, tangy mustard, every mouthful was delicious. Although the dinner rush was in full swing, the bartenders still checked on me during my meal. I really appreciated the attentiveness, and I felt very much at home. My time at the Kettle Black impressed me, and I'm definitely coming back the next time I'm in town. read more
We had a big group, it was for a conference nearby and despite our large group we were given good food and nice service. I do think the server was a bit pressured as our group was so big but they were able to accommodate us. We had to wait some time for our food but I would say the food options were good and with lots of pub variety. read more
Grubhub Delivery Review: The food was made promptly and it was delivered earlier than anticipated- which was great! I opted for the Pork Belly Sliders (because it seemed like one of the more popular item per Yelp) and the Citrus Chicken Salad. The pork belly sliders were good (slightly fatty) and I wish there was a little bit more cabbage slaw or freshness to combat the fattiness of the protein- the brioche bun was toasted beautifully. The salad looked amazing but unfortunately, it tasted slightly off and I found a hair in it so I tossed it. Grubhub did say they'll offer a credit. read more
Decided to come here last minute before a concert and it did not disappoint. Our party of 3 were seated pretty fast after they cleaned a table. I got the pork belly sliders and they were soooo delicious! My husband got the lamb wrap and also said it was tasty. Our friend got the Caesar salad wrap and he too said it was delicious. We were all very happy and ate every bite! Our server was friendly as well! read more

Awesome pub!!! If you are going to the game I recommend going to this place beforehand, the food was delicious. We walked right in no wait and grabbed a couple of seats at the bar. There was plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Staff were extremely nice and helpful as soon as we sat down. It's a traditional club so very laid back atmosphere. We tried the Pork Belly Sliders which were a 10/10 absolutely incredible and we also had the Philly cheesesteak fries also a 10/10. The portions were large and me and my husband did split both. The bartenders made me a delicious espresso martini which was amazing. We will be back! read more

Love this spot! It has the look and feel of an Irish Pub in Dublin's Temple Bar district! Stopped by here with some friends celebrating a bday and loved this spot. The service was great! And they have non-alcoholic Guinness which is hard to come by. On a scale of 1 - 10, I'd hit it again and again, just for the Dublin vibes! read more
Recommend: Not really. Why? because what they excel at is spirits - I suppose. For food, skip it. It just takes too long. Off the top, this is an incredibly and beautifully designed 'pub', very reminiscent of Europe's pub designs and most noticeably, the dark, rich wooded, built-ins from the bar to the bench seating and surrounding design ambiance is VERY well done for a European decor! We were there on Saturday evening, not more than 50% full and to get a service attendant took around 5-7 minutes and when asked for the on tap beverages, the attendant pointed his pen to a chalked out board about 15 feet away... Couldn't read them so we skipped the spirits... Food was unexpectedly thin on choices, however, extremely overpriced to be honest. We ordered a pretzel, fish and chips and wings. We received those 3 items - 35 minutes later. Wow. 35 minutes later... I hate to say that but even for a pub, for fish and (heavily breaded) chips, a pretzel and wings, SHOULDN'T COST $65.00, especially with no alcoholic drinks... Is this 'Phoenix 2025??' likely, but at the price restaurants are gouging out customers like this, it's a negative trend, sadly, and one I'm not appreciative of. Prices are at an all time high and it's unwelcoming and these are LOCAL products too! But, the most unfortunate thing during our stay was that a party member lost their debit card - in the restaurant and we left, never being able to locate it from when the bill was paid. We even called the next day, and it still wasn't found. This happens, cards can be replaced but it was an icing to the cake if you will... Summary: KUDOS to the interior design, but food pricing, lack of seeing a beverage menu, scant eating choices and lethargic service; It's not on my recommended list unfortunately. The Waiting Attendant was polite, and we left a gracious tip; but if you would prefer a European themed pub; I'd recommend elsewhere. read more

This pub is a Man City Supporter pub if you are a fan or watch the English Premier League in general. I was waiting for a concert that had the line wrapped around to by this location, so figured it was a sign I needed a pint as the line hadn't moved for a bit. Love that they had strongbow and throughly enjoyed while waiting for the concert line to get moving when doors opened. Great pub atmosphere and I'd return if in the area to try the food, even though I'm a Tottenham fan. read more
Hated that I was short on change because this pub was fantastic! I came in for a Philly cheesesteak fries on a night where it seemed that everyone knew about happy hour! I ordered a Guinness tap and was serviced immediately. The vibe and ambiance screamed laid back with friendly customer service. The food came out swiftly and it was honestly the best meal I've had in a long time. I definitely recommend this place! 10/10 ! read more

A friendly Irish pub nestled in the heart of Downtown Phoenix, just a short walk from the Orpheum theater. Great happy hour drinks and welcoming staff. Parking is a bit hard to come by, and some meters only let you stay for 15 minutes. read more

Stopped in before a Suns game. Our friends suggested the place so we met them there. It' was at 90% capacity which should be the norm on game nights. The crowd was loud as it appeared were geared up for fun. The service was blah! We ordered and waited. After 30 minutes in our friends started explaining that they never waited this long for an order. Another 15 minutes went by and finally was served. I ordered gyro- fries, simply fries with lamb meat on them. Nothing at the table was complicated. There was no follow up. We finished and I waved down our server and asked for the check. I wouldn't try it again. read more

Is it quiet enough for normal table conversation?
Not really, it's quite compacted in the place.
If you walk out of Stand up Live Mon-Thursday around 8:30-8:45 and enter the restaurant just before 9pm, is that too late for a entree / pint or two provided you’re out by 10? Or is that too late for the staff / Impolite?

No, sorry. I wish I did know. Went there on vacation. I would stick to veggies and proteins. Chicken and Grass Fed meats. Hope that helps. You can't go wrong the the above.. Great Regards... Alex
