THE BEST CHIPS (FRIES)! As a British expat, I'm always happy to try a new British restaurant, so I had to try this one while visiting Phoenix. The pasty and gravy were authentic and delicious. The chips were some of the best I've had in a very long time, if not ever. The restaurant is large with an upper and lower level and patio dining. It has a pub-like feel. Use the QR to view the menu, but order through the waiter. (This isn't quite obvious, so a sign stating 'Order with the waitstaff' would make things more clear). There are a variety of pasty flavors to choose from. The bathrooms are completely graffitied -- I think they've chosen to make that part of the decor. Don't let them scare you off! I've been here many times before and never had an issue, but the way one of the staff (Sam) handled our group last night was genuinely disappointing. One of our members was asked to leave in a way that felt personal rather than professional, and the tone used (especially toward women in our group) came across as disrespectful and unnecessary. It didn't feel like standard policy enforcement. It was targeted. Curse words and derogatory statements were used. The comments that were made and the aggressive tone with which they were said was completely out of line for a service environment. This happened to multiple women in our group. Regardless of personal history, that kind of behavior shouldn't be happening while representing this business. This kind of conduct reflects poorly on your establishment. On our way to Sky Harbor Airport, we were looking for some comfort food and comfortable, chill place to relax after a super tough week. Chicken pot pie pasty? Is that not THE DEFINITION of comfort food?! Yes please. Hot. Hearty. Crusty. Savory. Ginormous comfort food. Paired it with a non-alcohol Guinness for the win. I recently visited Cornish Pasty in downtown Phoenix. I was most impressed by the amazing service that we received. Our server was very attentive and quick. The drinks were on point and the food was delicious. Also, I would visit again just for the bathroom and the amazing old-school 90s and 80s playlist. We've been long time fans of Cornish pasty, although this is the first time we've been to the downtown location. This location is quite large, taking up two stories. It has a separate billiards room and a large bar in the middle. I love the different lighting fixtures hanging amongst the big chandeliers. I really like the aesthetic of this place. There is a patio outside as well. There are so many varieties of pasties that you can order. We ordered the bangers and mash pasty and the Italian pasty. I have no idea why we would go towards the Italian pasty but there are so many delicious, traditional fillings. The Italian was good, with roasted tomatoes, pepperoni, salami, cheese. But the bangers and mash was absolutely fantastic with the wine gravy. Next time I'll stick to more traditional fillings. The service was fantastic here. Our server was very nice and friendly and when I told her we were in a rush she brought the check right away. Always a great time at Cornish! Tonight they had a live band that was phenomenal. Couldn't get enough of the vibes. They have pool and darts to play. Drinks are a win and the Pastys are delicious. You can't go wrong on picking. Pot pie, Sheppards pie, rosemary steak and rosemary chicken are my favorites! They service is friendly and attentive. I got the Oggie, which is the traditional Pasty with steak and potato. I enjoyed it, definitely felt like comfort food, which is not surprising for the food from that region. A little bit lacking in seasonings for my taste but that's alright, you need that too sometimes. It was also surprisingly filling too, although it might not look like it. The service was great and we got our food way quicker than we expected. I also like that you can see through to the kitchen where they are making the Pasties, definitely adds to the experience. The music is pretty loud inside, so we grabbed the last table that we saw outside as the sign said the seat yourself. Our server arrived within five minutes and we soon received water and a beer. Our server gave us tips on ordering. We decided to try the scotch eggs to start and they were very delicious! My husband got the chicken pot pie pasty and I got the Greek pasty. It came with a filling of steak in gravy with cabbage, carrots, potatoes and cheese. Overall, was moist and flavorful though wished there was more protein included for the price. My first visit to the Downtown Phoenix iteration of Cornish Pasty Company - Tempe locations have been prior experiences of mine for more years than I care to mention (close to 20?). That said, I was in the area for somewhat of an extended lunch break and I selected CPC. Sat at the bar. Not very busy all around, which I have experienced lately in DT PHX; how are these high-rent establishments staying in business to open for lunch when there's hardly anyone to serve at noon on a September Thursday?! Service was very quick and attentive as necessary. I ordered the "Green Chile Bacon Cheeseburger" and it was good. Crust: crispy and flaky, but strong enough to hold in the ingredients. Green chile was on the mild side - that's my only wish here; not everyone can Hatch, NM or Los Dos every meal, but personally, I'd like for it to be! Coming from service experience from the last 10 years of my life, sometimes we get busy behind the bar. Especially being high volume. This place is really cool inside and everyone working there is also cool - so I had high hopes. I wasn't sure how big these were so I ordered a Lamb Vindaloo pasty and a Shepherd's Pie pasty to go. The food came pretty fast and I went back to my hotel to enjoy. The shepherd's pie was fantastic - hot and delicious. The vindaloo one was pretty weird - the lamb was chewy and the potatoes were basically raw. It was about half as hot as the other one - thankfully o got 2 because I didn't eat it. We went to Cornish Pasty for a nice walk and lunch downtown. The restaurant is so nice inside and there's a great patio to sit at also. Our pasties came out and they were huge and steaming hot. Definitely a cool spot. As their name suggests, their specialty is the pasty, and they offer so many different options it really is hard to decide which one to choose. My friend and I started off with the scotch egg appetizer which was very good. For the pasty, she got the bangers and mash and I went with the Reuben and we swapped halves to try each other's. Hard to pick a favorites, I enjoyed both since they had their own flavor profiles which was nice. I went to their location in Flagstaff a couple of years ago but luckily they had one in Phoenix. It's downtown and there is parking here and there. Until downtown Phoenix gets incredibly urban like other major cities, parking is not too hard to find. My friend told me that they expanded this place so it's a lot bigger than it used to be. There's a bar and then there's tables all around and you find where you want to sit and they find you to take your order. Friend had the tomato soup which also came with bread and was delicious! We also had a Scotch egg appetizer. So good but a little pricey. Husband had the Scotch eggs salad which also was really tasty and full of all the fixings. I had their steak pasty which was amazing. Get extra dipping sauce cuz it is so good! Again a really good experience here second to the one I originally had in Flagstaff. Just delicious food that you can't get anywhere else. The staff were fairly busy but attentive. I've never had a pasty before but was intrigued. I imagined the English tales of "meat pies". I ordered "the oggie" with a nice blend of beef and potatoes and some oven chips (think fries). Think of a pasty as a bit drier calzone but still very good to eat. I would have preferred a bit of crispier oven chip/fries but still well seasoned. So many choices to eat but one pasty left me quite full. Main reason I came here was good beer selection and even though I only had 2 beers because I had somewhere else to be later, I know where to go for a great beer selection in downtown Phoenix. Leaving another review to clarify my original post that the manager had taken down because he was convinced I was at the wrong location. I wasn't. I mentioned in my original (which I'll include below) that there was a "front desk" - apparently calling a front area, or check-in, or front door, a "front desk" must mean I'm totally confused. I simply meant when we first walked into the main front door, and stood there waiting to be greeted and seated, there was no one there and the person who eventually came, acted put out. Also, I mentioned coming on a Sunday and the manager was certain the previous Sunday was not busy...I never said which Sunday it was. It was a Sunday afternoon in May, not that that should matter. What the manager should care about instead of semantics, is the bad experience I had at his business. It also would've been nice for him to handle this like a pro, and with a little customer service, instead of trying to tell me I didn't know where I was. Like I said in my first post, I will never come back to THIS location. (Original Post) This review bums me out. Cornish Pasty is one of my FAVORITE restaurants! I've been many times to many of their locations, but I hadn't been to this one in years. My husband and I came on a Sunday afternoon. The front desk was empty when we got there - someone begrudgingly came to help us - told us it would be a wait, probably a half hour. The whole interaction was unfriendly, but I guessed maybe they were slammed and understaffed? We gave our name and phone number and decided to stop into another cool spot nearby. After a half hour, we came back and it's as if they had forgotten about us, others who had been behind us earlier were already seated (we were never texted) the same person as before said there were some tables available but they weren't clean yet...but we could sit there if we wanted. We said no problem, went over to the dirty tables, cleared the plates and glasses ourselves, waited for them to come wipe it down, they never did. We got our garlic fries (top tier), but they were out of the one thing I came here for, The Pilgrim! Devastating! I regrouped and asked the waitress what she recommended, again, she seemingly answered me begrudgingly, but I decided to go with one of the options she mentioned, the Hatch Chili Burger...this was the only saving grace of the whole experience. It was amazing! I finished the entire pasty. I won't come back to this location again. I have even more recently been to another location and the experience was wonderful. read more

She did not provide the greatest service when we went there on Saturday 1/24. Food was already out and no silverware or napkins. Gave one of us attitude when another waiter would come by because I told her it was my birthday. She also gave one of my friends attitude because he felt that she didn't deserve a tip. So, I pulled up their website and I almost passed out I was so happy that they had online ordering. Initially I was surprised by their prices, as they've gone up significantly! There isn't much negative about this spot wether its a lunch after work drinks dinner or late night hang out they have it all. Amazing food great wide open space (they just added more room on the main floor) or an amazing drink selection this is one of the great spots in multiple parts of town. The only negative is the pasties are pre made so there's no substitutions but that's not enough to drop a star as they do them so well as well that if the ingredients are all your thang it's gonna be great. read more

It was flavorful and hearty, though a tad salty for my taste. I appreciated their up-to-date online menu, which clearly indicated what was out of stock--super helpful for planning my order. For my main, I had the rosemary steak pasty, filled with tender steak, roasted red potatoes, red peppers, brie, and rosemary, all complemented by a rich mustard cream sauce. It was absolutely delicious and so satisfying! To finish I split a banoffee pie,which was the perfect sweet ending to the meal--creamy, indulgent, and utterly delightful.
