Drinks on point ... old fashioned
Larissa R.

I recently visited Cornish Pasty in downtown Phoenix. I was most impressed by the amazing service that we received. Our server was very attentive and quick. The drinks were on point and the food was delicious. Also, I would visit again just for the bathroom and the amazing old-school 90s and 80s playlist. This is a two-story venue and we loved sitting upstairs. It was such a vibe!! Keep up the great old-school music and the amazing service!

We've been long time fans of Cornish pasty, although this is the first time we've been to the downtown location. This location is quite large, taking up two stories. It has a separate billiards room and a large bar in the middle. I love the different lighting fixtures hanging amongst the big chandeliers. I really like the aesthetic of this place. There is a patio outside as well. There are so many varieties of pasties that you can order. We ordered the bangers and mash pasty and the Italian pasty. I have no idea why we would go towards the Italian pasty but there are so many delicious, traditional fillings. The Italian was good, with roasted tomatoes, pepperoni, salami, cheese. But the bangers and mash was absolutely fantastic with the wine gravy. Next time I'll stick to more traditional fillings. The service was fantastic here. Our server was very nice and friendly and when I told her we were in a rush she brought the check right away. This is a really great option if you've got a show to see downtown and want to hit dinner first. There are a lot of good options, however, this place has a nice casual feel.

Oggie Pasty (2/5)

Oggie Pasty (2/5): Very mediocre pasty with not a lot of flavor and an off putting bitterness. The red wine gravy was pretty good and helped a lot, but overall, this one wasn't really for me. RATING SYSTEM 5 - Great (Need to get this again) 4 - Good (Would get this again) 3 - Ok (Might give this another shot) 2 - Not Good (Won't get this again) 1 - Bad (Telling people to avoid this)

Cool spot in downtown Phoenix with a tavern vibe upstairs and more modern vibe downstairs. The pasty's were good but the potatoes can be cooked a little bit more.service was great!

Always a great time at Cornish! Tonight they had a live band that was phenomenal. Couldn't get enough of the vibes. They have pool and darts to play. Drinks are a win and the Pastys are delicious. You can't go wrong on picking. Pot pie, Sheppards pie, rosemary steak and rosemary chicken are my favorites! They service is friendly and attentive. Even though it's seat yourself, they are pretty good at reading the room.

I wouldn't recommend. The selection was limited. Though the menu is large, most things on the menu were not available for whatever reason. And what they did have was not good. Tasteless and flavorless. Lackluster experience. Also service is basically nonexistent- everything is done online and it's uncanny. Ambiance is fine for what it's worth.

The Oggie (Traditional Pasty)

I got the Oggie, which is the traditional Pasty with steak and potato. I enjoyed it, definitely felt like comfort food, which is not surprising for the food from that region. A little bit lacking in seasonings for my taste but that's alright, you need that too sometimes. It was also surprisingly filling too, although it might not look like it. The service was great and we got our food way quicker than we expected. I also like that you can see through to the kitchen where they are making the Pasties, definitely adds to the experience. We were there for lunch but I can imagine this place is really vibey for dinner and just hanging with friends over some drinks and food.

We had tickets to the Orpheum theater and we're looking for a fun place to have dinner before the show. We parked in the nearby parking structure for $25 for the evening and walked over to this restaurant. It's pretty good size with both indoor and outdoor seating and seating downstairs and upstairs. The music is pretty loud inside, so we grabbed the last table that we saw outside as the sign said the seat yourself. Our server arrived within five minutes and we soon received water and a beer. Our server gave us tips on ordering. We decided to try the scotch eggs to start and they were very delicious! My husband got the chicken pot pie pasty and I got the Greek pasty. They came out crispy and hot within 15 minutes. We both enjoyed our choices. We would definitely come back again. The prices are good and the service is friendly.

Got takeout and our order was prepared quickly. There were several items they were out of online unfortunately but they have an extensive menu so decided to try the Guinness Stew pasty. It came with a filling of steak in gravy with cabbage, carrots, potatoes and cheese. Overall, was moist and flavorful though wished there was more protein included for the price. The outside crust was stellar and brought all the flavors together - super buttery and flaky. The sour cream and chive dip was a nice touch too! Inside the restaurant had a traditional pub style vibe and looked quite busy even on a weekend evening. Staff were overall quick to help get my order.

Green Chile Bacon Cheeseburger pasty

My first visit to the Downtown Phoenix iteration of Cornish Pasty Company - Tempe locations have been prior experiences of mine for more years than I care to mention (close to 20?). That said, I was in the area for somewhat of an extended lunch break and I selected CPC. Sat at the bar. Not very busy all around, which I have experienced lately in DT PHX; how are these high-rent establishments staying in business to open for lunch when there's hardly anyone to serve at noon on a September Thursday?! Service was very quick and attentive as necessary. I ordered the "Green Chile Bacon Cheeseburger" and it was good. Crust: crispy and flaky, but strong enough to hold in the ingredients. Green chile was on the mild side - that's my only wish here; not everyone can Hatch, NM or Los Dos every meal, but personally, I'd like for it to be! Ranch for dipping, which I did about twice per half. I bet this place is fun on weekend nights!

I love Cornish Pasty, regardless of the location, though this was only my second time eating at the location Downtown. It was a Wednesday night, so it was a bit quiet downtown. The service was quick and, per usual, the food was very tasteful with a large (almost overwhelming) selection of pasty options to choose from. I ordered the chicken pot pie pasty and it was so good! The outside of the pasty was nice and flaky and the gravy that came alongside the pasty was amazing. The only reason I'm giving this experience a 4 instead of a 5 is because our server was not very friendly at all. She was quick and efficient, but she was not very inviting, didn't thank us for stopping in at the end of the meal, and overall just did not make us feel welcome as guests.

I've come here many times over the years and it's always been decent.... But for once I've noticed someone who truly doesn't care. Coming from service experience from the last 10 years of my life, sometimes we get busy behind the bar. Especially being high volume. However, it doesn't mean that you get to neglect a certain demographic or patron because they're not regulars. The thing is we are regulars, and so this bartender was clearly having a bad day, but he made it apparent that he did not care to take care of anyone else outside of the people that benefited him. This is my mark of someone who needs to take a long break out of the industry and also leave a company because nobody deserves this.

I had the Guinness stew pasty and it was amazing! Food here is always delicious. Service was good considering how busy they were. Chill vibes downtown.

You can tell right away this is the kind of place regulars come back to often. Food I didn't try much food, but I did have the cheese crisp and it was solid. Light, flaky, and more like an open-faced tostada than a quesadilla. It came topped with green chili and chicken, and everything worked well together. Based on that, I'd expect the rest of the menu to be consistent, even if it's not trying to reinvent the wheel. Service Service was efficient, especially considering how busy it was. No complaints here... you can tell the staff knows how to handle a full house and keep things moving. Ambience This is where the place stands out. The vibe feels like a food network designed a biker bar, but in a fun, not over-the-top way. It's also apparently a Kansas City Chiefs bar, which adds to the identity. There was a live band playing early 2000s rock hits, which kept the energy up. Crowd was friendly overall, very much a neighborhood crowd. Overall This isn't a destination bar, but it's a really solid go-to if you live nearby. Think of it as an elevated dive/sports bar with a strong local following. Good drinks, good energy, and a place that does what it's supposed to do well.

Most notably, their Brickhouse wings with Oatmeal Stout BBQ were so good I had to come back for more (no picture, we devoured these almost immediately). I especially love that they partner with local producers to create their food and beverage menus. This place is a must-visit.
