I went in at a busy 330 pm afternoon in Carlsbad to the UPS store. I waited about eight minutes. There were a lot of people and usually it smells like sewer and they blame the restaurant above for the smell, but it didn't stink today but something else did. It was my turn, and I was sending a package and she was putting the address in. I leaned over to look at the screen and my left forearm rested on the scale. I wasn't leaning on it and this man came up and said get off the scale you're going to break it. That's a $2000 scale and I said I'm sure it's not a $2000 scale and he says it is I bought it I own this store and I felt really taken it back because he was so very rude. I had no way harmed that scale. It's such a terrible experience when you're patronizing a business and you get screamed at. read more

Just needed a quick notary service and was able to make appointment online. Service was on time, quick and efficient. Definitely recommend for notary paperwork. These days, it's so refreshing to encounter someone who knows what they are doing. Location is great, too. Right in the village with plenty of parking. read more

Last two times I've been at this UPS location, they are never open on time. They are supposed to be open at 8:00 am, and the worker has generally arrived around 8:20 am. With my work schedule, I am generally unable to arrive during other hours. It is pretty frustrating that they are not open Do yourself a favor and do not show up early to beat the crowd. read more

Be like other UPS stores (eg. Ave. Encinas) and do not charge anything, instead of $5.40 for a plastic bag for my Amazon "free return" shirt. Staff is slow and disinterested. It's hard to imagine having to carry a large package down the stairs to get into your store. read more

Very low energy. Poor location for UPS. You either load via stairs or by a long walk in a very crowded parking lot. I don't know why they stay here. The staff don't give off the usual UPS attitude and seem to have reasons for not doing things and quick references to talking to somebody else on a different day. I don't think they understand they are a business for people who quickly want to get things done. If you have any other UPS or mailing alternative, I would choose that. I would place a negative star but the rating starts at one (1). This place is a con - Shipped a package for 2 day delivery and the shipment went out on USPS and not only that, their machine weighed the package at 4.01lbs so we were billed for 5 lbs $53 (Carlsbad, CA to Roxbury, MA) The 2 days would have the package delivered by 12/19/2025 but the USPS tracking is showing expected 12/22/2025 by 9:00pm. The UPS service guy (who would not give me his name) on 12/19/2025 closing time was unprofessional. read more

I've tried to give this place a chance for a few years. But this place has an awful energy. I'm a person with high anxiety and have a hard time interacting with others, let alone interacting with others who seem to clearly not want to interact with me. I don't ship packages frequently but I used this store to have a PO Box. I for sure will not be renewing my PO Box this year with this UPS. Today was kinda my final straw on tolerating feeling like I'm inconveniencing them. There are two people in there who have been there for years and they are the worst culprits of being rude. I've had multiple interactions at this store that left me feeling like I was inconveniencing their day. To preface this story, none of my complaints are aimed at the young woman who was telling me the prices as she seemed newish and was just doing her best to help me with my questions. All of my frustrations are aimed at the middle aged woman who has been there for years and the man who I'm pretty sure is the franchise owner. Today I went in wanting to ship something to my friend in the UK. I was given a price of over $400. This was to ship a teddy bear and a water bottle. As I said above, I don't ship things frequently so I didn't know the cheapest way to go about getting this overseas. After seeing my shock with that price tag, the middle aged woman semi took over the conversation and she told me they could ship it through USPS for $150. I was still baffled. It felt like they didn't care to help me get this price down so I could get these items to my friend. It felt like they were annoyed with me that I didn't understand the difference between UPS and USPS. They told me they were both USPS and UPS and that USPS price is the lowest it could be. After talking to a friend I learned about flat rate boxes at USPS and how UPS will ship USPS but tak on their own fees without explaining it. I didn't know one company was for profit and the other wasn't. USPS might be slow, but at least they're nice to me when I walk in and help me find the cheapest option available. I don't mind paying premiums if I'm getting premium service. But you can't act like your sh*t don't stink and charge and arm and a leg imo... I hope that woman that's been there for years gets a hug soon. read more

Never been to this location and I will never come back. As someone who has bad anxiety and was already scared about going to the post office for the first time, I had the worst experience. I didn't know the steps or process of returning a package here and the person who helped me was not welcoming or helpful, I didn't know you had to tape up your packages I'm used to amazon and staples where they tell you not to because they have to scan the items. Instead of informing be of what to do the guy said, "omg you know you're supposed to tape up your packages, what is this?" And I was like No, I didn't know that Ive never done this and he said," yes you do know!" Like why are you calling me a liar??? Why would I lie about that? obviously no I didn't know, you don't have to be rude about it. I had a panic attack and was holding back tears, I left as quick as I could and just cried in my car. Not everyone has been to a post office and knows what to do, there was no reason to belittle me and tell me im wrong and that I know better when this was my first experience. Never going back there ever again. There was 2 minutes till closing time and I just needed to drop off my packages. It takes less than a minute to scan 4 packages. The NEW girl was at the door and I asked her if I could just drop them off and she literally just made a nasty face and said " I guess". I left with my packages. Who says that? Someone who lacks CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS. She's so rude and this wasn't her first time. Next time just say the place closes at 5:58pm . The El Camino Real location is way better. I live in the village and I'd rather drive farther. Everyone else is super nice and are always helpful but not that chick. Came in at 5:53 to send two packages. Girl with the tattoos was friendly. Other girl rolled her eyes. Gave the rolly eyed girl a barcode to scan to print the UPS label. She was clueless. Showed it to the girl with the tattoos and she knew exactly what to do. Next tried to pay to print a label to ship my other package. Rolly eyes told me THE REGISTERS ARE ALREADY CLOSED. Before I had even left, rolly-eyes was already on her cellphone. If I wanted service this awful, I would have gone to the post office. Terrible customer service. They do not give you shipping options. But rather only offer what is the MOST expensive!! And they will tell you that this is the only option. This happened to me twice and I will never go back. Also staff there are rude. Keep in mind that these are "franchises" and they can implement any tactics to try and scam you out of money. Go to another location. The lady with the heavy accent was very rude to me. Below is proof. These are the receipts from 2 different UPS store locations. Also, there is a screen shot of the delivery confirmation. As expected it only took 1 day because the package was only going 50 miles. Despite this, the UPS shop at Carlsbad Village tried to charge me $36 dollars with NO other options! Normal ground service from the "other" UPS store determined that it would be delivered the next day. And they were correct, it was delivered the next day, see the screen shot from my computer confirming the delivery. I honestly can't say enough good things about this location. It truly is difficult to find a great mailing place. At most mailing places you either experience super high charges to mail things, extra surcharges just to drop off different type of packages, absurd pricing for printing, etc. I went to a different UPS store near here and they were going to charge me $3 extra just to drop off something that was posted for the post office. I thought that was ridiculous when the postage was already paid. And it really isn't all about the money either. A lot of times you can go to the post office and find a cheaper deal to mail something, even compared to places like this. But it truly is about the experience. At the post office you're going to stand in a line for an seemingly endless amount of time, maybe not have a good air-conditioning system going, and people will be treating you like a number just to get you in and move the line on. Here at the store the owner is always extremely patient and friendly. He knows what he's doing and he's very quick. His employees are also amazing. They are all very friendly and helpful, and just as skillful as the owner in terms of speed of service and knowing the business it seems. I ship quite a lot of things. Mainly I use Poshmark postages, which are already paid and I am able to drop them off here with no problem. When returning items on Amazon this location can quickly scan my phone, print the label and I don't have to worry about any printing charges. I will gladly pay extra for convenience and because of the stores friendly and calm atmosphere than going to the post office or any other location. I moved from Glendale, Arizona back to my hometown here in Carlsbad about six months ago, and I was so happy that I found this mailing location. I tried out about three or four others that were horrible before finding this one. I don't want you to go through what I had to go through to finally find a great all-around mailing place. The staff is very friendly and helpful, fast as well. $10 per signature is fair and the average going rate, I was in and out in less than 10 minutes, fast and easy. When trying to remediate her mistake, she was incapable of addressing error. I came to this UPS store, specifically, because of their high customer rating. I came to this UPS store multiple times for drop offs only and the people there had always been very friendly, helpful and efficient! They would always greet me once I entered the door even when they were busy with customers. This store was always sufficiently staffed with at least 2 people behind the counter. Almost every time one of them would ask if I was here for drop offs then they would take my packages right away and asked if I needed a receipt. If you ask for a receipt then they need to scan the items at an open register before they can print it out for you, which might be of a short wait. But if you don't need a receipt, you can just leave right after they take your packages even when there is not an open register. I like how they open on Saturdays too! Went in to do an amazon return which I was new to. A very young girl said she could help me next but was very impatient and dismissive. I was pulling up my return codes on my phone and she acted like I was such an imposition and couldn't care to help me at all. Does she realize she is in a service role? I left without completing the return and drove to the UPS store off of poinsettia. I was in and out in a matter of minutes. Because of their great service I went back again today to ship a package. The unfortunate thing is I live minutes from the village but I will choose to drive 10 minutes to the poinsettia location from now on. Customer service is everything! This UPS Store is very convenient in Carlsbad Village it's in the shopping center where the Coyote is. They have a few random office supplies, and always seem to have two staff members working which is nice. Returning an Amazon package could not be easier, if you bring your box and labels, they tell you to take a photograph of the tracking number and then you're out of there it's fantastic. I'm sure they offer up there helpful services, like notary, and other types of shipping but I didn't use those services that day. read more

Sadly, they'll ship USPS and not even mention the UPS options despite being in a "UPS" Store ...and they will not make it clearly known that they've selected this option for you. When I called to ask about my shipping method it was explained to me that the UPS rate was significantly higher so she didn't bother to mention it. However, my entire reason for shipping UPS was to have the extra level of service no matter the cost. To add more to this experience, after cross referencing the dimensions with the USPS Team (down the street) they mentioned the pricing was inaccurate and that UPS has faster options available. What incredible customer service!!! I had to mail out 2 sets of chairs that were boxed in 2 big boxes. I had purchased them from Amazon and Amazon kept giving me only 1 return code (I tried several times). So, the only solution was to box both sets of chairs in one huge box at a cost of $67. I was resigned (and bummed) to it since I needed to ship them back for the credit. Here's where the incredible customer service comes in!! The next day, I got a call from Clara. Since the boxes where the same size, she taped them together to make is one shipment, so I didn't have to pay the $67. I was amazed that she took the time to do this and called me back the next day with the good news. This UPS store certainly went above and beyond. And $5 to put peanuts in the box..almost $50 to send 3 t-shirts with a week delivery time. I normally use a Postal Corner but was pressed for time. Would have been half the cost.
