My only gripe was being told my staff that a couple of packages from vendors like Amazon and Target were not received by the PO despite having photographic evidence to the contrary. When I escalated the matters (happened twice in 3 months), the responses weee mostly fluff with no meaningful resolve. Adding insult to injury, after I'd gone home to call the vendors to explain I hadn't received said packages, the very same MIA packages never received by the PO mysteriously appeared in my PO Box WEEKS after they'd been delivered. Not a good look. Otherwise, as mentioned, generally positive experiences.

One of the biggest surprises was the tiny little United States Post Office that is just down the street from my house. It's literally smaller than my bedroom in the waiting area, but there's never any very long lines like there used to be at the bigger facilities. In fact, I thought it was only a P.O. Box location until one day, when I walked in to see whether they at least had one of those self service kiosks. They don't need one...because they've always got the best workers staffed there. Most of the time, people dread going to the USPS, because the lines and wait times can rival the DMV in their endless boredom. The employees are usually never smiling, and it's frankly grown a little depressing to visit the Post Office. The one in our neighborhood is far from boring...the staff are friendly and courteous...they're not grumpy, and they don't try to sell you services you don't need or want...or try and force you to purchase the newest version of "Forever" stamps. They'll ask you if you need stamps...because - it's the Post Office - but they don't get bent out of shape if you don't take them up on the offer. I've been to some that seem offended you don't want "state flowers of the midwestern states" or the "insert super patriotic symbol du jour here 'MERICA!" series. They get it. Most of the time, if someone needs stamps...they'll let you know. ;) In all seriousness though, this Post Office is one of the many charming things about this little neighborhood tucked away in the valley behind the Back Gate of Camp Pendleton. And when you're done, you can take a walk across the street and grab some ice cream...because there's a really awesome little shop there. If you find that the Post Office is really busy, there's a little locally owned U Post shipping place that will take your items for just a little bit more than the Post Office will charge. Most of the time though, you'll be fine - I've never waited longer than ten minutes or so there. It's really laid back, and the staff are clearly loving their job and their customers! I hope we live here for years to come. Between the community feel and the small town type amenities, I think it's about as close to a real community as it gets here in Oceanside! Apparently they tried to close this little place down a few years back. Several local ship owners and community members came to the fore and said they didn't want to lose the little post office. I was the first one in and the woman behind the counter was kind enough to wait for the other appointment before me since I came 20 minutes early. There was no rush and she was extremely pleasant to speak with, being very clear and polite regarding filling out the paperwork. Small talk led to small talk and about 25 minutes later I was out of there with the high hopes of receiving a new passport within 3 weeks. I did not feel rushed, there was no coaxing or trying to expedite the process and honestly felt very confident in my purchase upon walking out, especially when receiving the blue book in the mail. It is extremely easy to find and convenient on base. I highly suggest using this Post Office for any means of packages or government work!

I was able to get an appointment 2 days prior and was unfortunately 5 min late because the location can be difficult to find; still, she had me wait so she could manage the line and took care of me in less than an hour. She is a very nice, joyful and pleasant person to speak to. Please ignore the negative reviews on here as they don't understand she is a one-woman team and can only service so many people that are all demanding something. I witnessed how rude people could be demanding they get what they want when they want it, which is unacceptable behavior on base and these people should instead go out in town. You will not be disappointed going to this location as she will help you no matter what, but you may have to wait a small amount of time.

I entered the building and there were 3 window clerks working. Each of them was busy handling customers. I noticed that the box lobby was very clean and that they had clean floors. There is a self service mail machine for small packages. This is very convenient for customers. There are many greeting card options here, gift cards options, and mailing supplies as merchandise in this location. I got in line and was immediately helped. The process was quick and easy. I was able to use my phone to tap pay on the POS. The window clerk that I had was customer service oriented and I had a great experience. I like how they have the surveys on the receipt. And I ended up slicing a 3" portion at the side of the bag. In the most vital area. So I walked in with the box it came with and the sliced bag. And without hesitation, Otoo offered to tape it up for me and he packed it for me. And I walked away with the receipt, in no less than 4 minutes.
