My parents were visiting from out of town, so my husband and I decided to take them to Sausalito to have dinner for my dad's birthday. We were excited to try The Trident because it was right on the water and we all love seafood. We decided to order the following: . Baked Oysters . Truffle Parmesan fries . Classic New England Style Lobster Roll . Fish & Chips . Seafood Linguini . Fish Tacos The baked oysters and truffle fries were definitely my favorite items! They were very flavorful and I would recommend them both as appetizers. My mom's fish and chips were extremely fried on the outside, and I prefer them to be crispy/flaky. I also wasn't a huge fan of the fish tacos I ordered. They were grilled (but slightly burned) and the tortillas were served cold. The rest of the items were good, but nothing too special. Our server was friendly and attentive. We told him we were celebrating my dad's birthday, so he came back with a slice of chocolate cake with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and sang him happy birthday. We were surprised to see that we were charged $10 for the cake, because we would've preferred to see dessert menu if we had known it wasn't complementary. The best part of the restaurant was definitely the view. The outdoor patio was right on the water and the weather that day was perfect to be outside. They even have valet parking which is helpful since street parking can be hard to find. I also appreciated the COVID-19 procedures that were in place- single-use menus, masks, spaced out seating, etc. Overall, I'd rate The Trident a 3.5 because I wasn't blown away by the food for almost a $200 dinner. Enjoyed taking my out of towner co-workers here for lunch. Went here at opening, and glad to have been able to pick our table with the outdoor dining since it was such a beautiful clear day. You also have a choice of indoor seating, but highly recommend outdoor because of the nice views. After a couple of hours of touring The City, we couldn't see anything because of the fog, but in Sausalito, it was super clear next to the water. From our table, we also saw dolphins swimming around, pretty cool. The fare was pretty standard bay area seafood, so I tried the clam chowder and salad with crab. The clam chowder in a bread bowl is not big as if you would get it on the wharf, and the chowder was decent. I liked my fresh crab on my salad, it was very meaty and a generous amount. We found that very odd especially with the small tight circles that were supposedly "Calimari". They were like rubber and very chewy...definitely NOT Calimari. Perfect weather, perfect service, and delicious food on a Sunday afternoon at The Trident. There were seven of us seated outdoors and our waiter was pleasant, professional, and attentive. While talking, laughing, and enjoying our cocktails, we also shared appetizers of ceviche and calamari. All talking ceased, however, once we dug into our entrées. I was much too busy devouring my delicious pan-seared scallops and risotto to pay attention to the other entrées, but I noticed my companions were also silent during the meal, and their plates were licked clean. My friend and I came here for lunch today with our dogs as I searched for a dog friendly place on yelp. A man outside told one of us to go through the back and the other to go talk to the host. So I went with the dogs to the back patio and my friend went inside. I was waiting for almost 10 mins-- my friend told me that she was the only one waiting for the host and the host was doing something else, just staring at her. Didn't even acknowledge her. So anyways, we both ordered the Lobster roll and it was honestly awful. It tasted like nothing. (My photo makes it look really tasty though) Super disappointing for a $30 sandwich. We also tried to order chicken for our dogs and our waiter told us he didn't think they could do that so we said "ok no problem" but then the manager came out and was super stern and bizarre with us saying "we CANNOT serve your dogs food" It was just WEIRD and made us feel uncomfortable. I didn't notice this place was rated 3-star until after I wrote the review. To be fair, the foods are not bad. However the services were poor. Let's talk about the foods first. The calamari and steamed mussels and clams were reasonable. Then the lobster rolls were tasty(if you could ignore the fries and the salad that came with it). The Cesar salad was not that impressive. However, the capellini with cherry tomatoes and basil was delicious (creamy cheese could be sparingly added and angel hair should be used instead of thin spaghetti). The bad part of the luncheon was the service. The food serving were very slow and the waiters seemed to be new on the job, not only forgetting our orders, but also bringing other table's check to us after we already got ours. So the luncheon took two hours. Valet parking only covers the first hour free, then it's $10/hr. Just be aware of that. If I do a simple math, it was $70/person. Maybe $40 of that was the view of the bay. read more

Been to this place a few times with a few different people. Every time we eat here the food is always good and the service is also good. We've brought our dogs twice and they are very accommodating. They have a separate entrance on the side so you can bring your dog straight to the patio. Sometimes the wait time can be a little long if you don't have a reservation but the good thing is the area that it's in you can go walk around for a bit and waste some time. The outdoor patio area is the best with great views of the bay. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking to try a new place! read more

After a long 8 mile hike in Muir Woods, we were looking for a nice place to dine at in Sausalito. The Trident called our attention with its great view of the bay and 60s art covered walls and ceiling. The restaurant is beautiful offering indoor and outdoor seating. The waiter was super friendly and attentive. The food was disappointing. First my cocktail had 2 gnat in it. I brought it to the attention of the waiter and he offered a remake which I appreciate it. Unfortunately the second cocktail also had a gnat. I figured they were storing the mint incorrectly or not rinsing it before using. I ended up not drinking it instead of asking him again. When our food came my medium rare burger was way over cooked it was pretty gray and dry. My bf ordered the salmon teriyaki sandwich. Which was also dry and lacked flavor. I would say the ceviche was the best but the tortilla chips were too thick and didn't taste fresh. The garlic bread had good Parmesan flavor but was a bit too oily and not enough garlic flavor. The calamari had a nice light batter, but all of them looked like identical little hoola hoops. That was a red flag to me as calamari shouldn't look the same, they have different shapes and sizes. This was a disappointment for me. My husband called a few days prior to reserve a nice view location for our wedding anniversary. The person he spoke with confirmed his reservation. However, the day of our dinner, we drove the hour to get there only to find that we didn't have a reservation. The host was unwelcoming, almost as if we were inconveniencing her. My husband told her we called a few days prior and requested a window table. She didn't even look at us and wasn't apologetic at all. It was a bad way to start our anniversary dinner. She placed us near a window, but it was an obstructed view, unfortunately. Anyway, whatever. The restaurant had a nice ambiance, but we were bummed about our table. First impression: awkward We arrived 10 minutes prior to our reservation and once my husband tells the seating host we have a reservation he responded with a gruff "you're early." We looked at each other a little shocked but didn't want to define our experience on just that awkward encounter. He handed us off to a busser which gave us an unwelcome vibe. We later noticed that he also seats guests himself. View: decent We were seated against the back of the restaurant outside but still had a decent view of the bay. There are heat lamps at the outer tables across from where our table was. First course: fresh but bland We ordered the mussels & clams appetizers which looked really delicious. The broth was bland possibly due to the omission of fresh garlic, but the stars of the dish were fresh. And the french bread was freshly broiled with butter & parsley. Main course: lackluster and bland. bland steaks, lobster over cooked & chewy, sides & toping were great . Lobster tails were generous and larger than usual but overdone. Visually appetizing- reality missing flavor. Broccolini, grilled asparagus, mashed pot, and crab Oscar were all cooked perfectly. We each ordered the surf and turf; hubbs went with the rib-eye and I went with the Oscar style filet mignon. Hubbs is fond of steaks and not only knows the precise cook time on any given piece, he was accurate yet again. He knew by the appearance that the rib eye appeared on the well done side and it turned out to be just that. The host came over to inquire on the food which hubbs was honest that It was cooked at well done when he likes medium rare. The host replied "do you want another one or do you want me to take care of it?" There was no apology and he left abruptly followed by a prompt visit from our server who by the way seemed new as she didn't ask how hubbs wanted his steak cooked and likely went off of my cook preference of medium well on the filet. We had to ask for steak knives after the dishes arrived and we sat for a short time. Itwas too late to have another steak fired and we chucked it up to a less than pleasant experience. We understand when staff is new and aren't too focused on missteps with servers service. But the host set the tone and can determine how the rest of the experience goes. We had to ask for our check from our server even though she passed our table more than once and the check reflected a $78 credit for the rib eye that hubbs did not eat. On our way out the host IGNORED us. It was not as busy as we might have expected and it might be partially due to first impressions then possibly bland food. We normally give the benefit of the doubt and return to do a more apps centric meal or some different menu entree, but we're not driving out across two freeways and over a bridge for another subpar experience. Terrible service. We were a group of 9 and the host with purple hair did not even say hello when we asked for a table, she said there's no window seats when there's plenty. She said 2 hours wait when there's so much empty seats. We were willing to split our group so we could sit but she said she only had a booth seat which was the worst seat in the restaurant. When she showed us the booth, she slammed the menu on the table and walked away without acknowledgement. When she helped white people, she was all smiles and accommodating and walked them to their window seat giving them options. We waited so long for the mediocre food. Question for the owner: I am a local longtime patron, easily 50 visits or more over the last 5 years alone. I'm on a first name basis with a few of the waitstaff. We had made reservations for a party of 8 over a month ago requesting seating with a view. We were placed in the center of the restaurant where the service was mediocre. The server was nice but service was so slow. We waited over 30 minutes before the server came back to take our order and another 25-30minutes for our food to arrive. It took another 15minutes to get a servers attention to get more water. Our party for the most part enjoyed their food but I had ordered the mixed grilled seafood platter that was amiss from the get go. I could smell that something was off on my plate, the shrimp was literally rancid and inedible. You can smell that it was bad and after tasting one (not even eating it) my stomach was in knots and spinning. The atmosphere was alright but there were flies literally everywhere. For spending almost half a rack in one sitting with the shrimp being of poor quality I don't think I could recommend this place or ever eat here again. I never post poor reviews but we were so disappointed in this place on so many levels and lack of attention. Scoma's was one of the best restaurants we've ate at and it's just next door. read more

I came here for dinner, and I was so lucky that there was immediate seating a little after 7 pm! I opted to sit outside since they have heat lamps, and the view was amazing! Service was pretty slow, but our waitress was really friendly. I had the king salmon, and it was delicious! The skin was fried so that it tasted like a chicharron. The fingerling potatoes, spinach, and corn with it were a good pairing. The homemade lemonade was ok. I really love the fact that we were never rushed at this restaurant. Love the view here at The Trident. My boyfriend brought me here for Valentine's Day they seated us quickly and it wasn't crowded at all. I love how spacious this restaurant is and how intimate the seating could be with your partner, idk I like that kind of thing. Great restaurant for a special night in my opinion. I loved their ceviche and fresh oysters. The only down side about my experience here is that there was a long piece of hair in my lemon drop. The views! Wow! From the fun drinks to the fresh caught sole our meal was delicious. The clam chowder is quintessential Bay Area staple. Sole was cooked nicely with a slight crisp and the lemon caper sauce was perfect. The scallops were cooked perfectly. We had a nice surprise of seeing the world famous Buena Vista Irish Coffee being offered and of course had to order it to finish our meal off.
