Gorgeous views of Richardson Bay. Our table's view of the Bay is gorgeous and memorable. 5/5 stars for Ambiance The restaurant's decor is rustic seafarers vibe here. Also a touristy vibe here. Wooden tables and booths. Large arched windows that showcases the Bay views. Full bar service here as well. Bathrooms are located inside the restaurant. A gorgeous day by the water with seafood and great service. We visited Trident on a beautiful Saturday and were lucky to snag outdoor seating with an amazing view and perfect weather. The vibe was relaxed and inviting, and the staff greeted us with genuine friendliness. We kicked things off with half a dozen oysters and spicy Bloody Marys. I was especially excited for the Bloody Mary since they make their own mix, using Hanson habanero vodka. It was a tasty idea in theory, but I found the drink lacking flavor and ended up adding Tabasco to bring it to life. The bread and butter arrived next and was fantastic, there's nothing like good bread to start a meal, and this hit the mark. As for the oysters, they were fresh and flavorful, though I preferred smaller oysters rather than the larger ones. The blistered Shishito peppers were perfectly blistered and flavorful. For the Frito Misto, the calamari was a bit overcooked and tough, but the jumbo prawns and the artichoke stole the show and were amazing. For mains, we ordered the famous Shrimp Po'Boy and upgraded to truffle fries. By the time the main course arrived, we were already fairly full, so I only took a few bites. The truffle fries were cooked to perfection with garlic, oil, and texture were all on point. We boxed up the rest of the peppers, the sandwich, and the fries to make room for dessert: the famous layered "fantasy cake" (a large dessert best shared). Dessert was another highlight, with Buena Vista's world-famous Irish coffee and a cappuccino. The coffee arrived lukewarm, which was a disappointing note. This morning, I dug back into the remaining sandwich, fries, and peppers and it was even better and the flavors held up and the leftovers proved surprisingly delicious. The overall quality of the food was good, and I would definitely go back. I'm not entirely sure why the average rating here is 3.5. I also enjoyed watching the clam chowder appear at several tables. the chowder in a bread bowl with Caesar salad looked incredible, though I don't eat bacon, so I didn't order it myself. I just admired it from afar. If you're looking for a place to savor a beautiful day by the water or enjoy an equally great indoors atmosphere, Trident is a solid choice in Sausalito. The food is good, the service is great, and the setting is fantastic. We sat for a little over two hours and never felt rushed by the staff. We just finished attending a wedding ceremony, my family and I headed here for the reception. Valet was posted at $18/hr, but since the newlyweds reserved the place from 5 PM to close, it was actually $18 flat. I didn't confirm with the manager, so I parked 200 feet away for $45 all day. Meanwhile, one of my cousins argued with a valet until the newlyweds clarified that all guests should've been charged the $18 wedding rate. Inside, the first thing I noticed was the smell of coffee which, it randomly made me think of Mexican coffee. I ordered an espresso and my usual Moscow Mule while waiting for the rest of the family to arrive from SF City Hall. The ladies at my table went with Peach Bellinis and Guava Rum Punches, and we had a couple of refills so, we were getting drunk before the party started. Starters were a wedge salad with clam chowder, and mains were a choice of fish & chips, Petaluma chicken, or salmon. My table stuck with fish & chips and salmon, both were solid. We sat at a window table with beautiful views and fresh air. Tons of photos and videos were taken, and the vibe was lively with a mariachi band playing for three hours. So, was planning to go to The Barrel House but, when we came across this place and read about the history, totally changed our minds. Great experience! I loved the interior. It felt like visiting someone's cool house in the '70's I never order fish and chips. Too many calories for something that might be mushy. My judgment was good. This was excellent. I love this place! I had the sea scallops last night with Parmesan Risotto, Cherry Tomatoes, Delta Asparagus, Bacon, Fresh Arugula, HMB English Peas, Chipotle Crema. It was so delicious. Scallops perfectly cooked. We ordered a lovely bottle of wine. We also had the frito mixto and I had a negroni. All fantastic. The ambiance can't be beat. I love the relaxed vibe with reggae playing. The deck overlooking the bay is huge and wonderful. We saw a harbor seal while we were eating. We ate here during Covid in March - it was chilly and they gave us all space blankets. What a treat to have a day in Sausalito with beautiful weather and beautiful views with friends for a birthday celebration. Our buddy called to make a larger reservation outdoors and fyi, that's the ticket! We had a corner table with the most beautiful backdrop of the water, boats, SF, and clear skies. Such a treat, would highly recommend if wanting the same vibe to call ahead. The Trident is a historic staple to the area, establishing the Tequila Sunrise in 1972..fun fact! The restaurant is pretty large and has a psychedelic vibe to it, with odes to those that frequented this spot like the Stones and Janis Joplin. Loved our waiter (Mify?), he even put a tiny birthday hat on to join our squad in celebration. We ordered the Whitefish Ceviche (recommend!) and Oysters to start for the table, followed by a cup of the Creamy San Francisco Clam Chowder and Classic New England Style Lobster Roll for me. Delicious soup! I'm a big fan of creamy chowders and this one according to the menu is a 60-year recipe and had bacon, yum-tastic. The lobster roll unfortunately didn't do it for me ~ I should have asked what "classic New England style" meant, because I wasn't expecting more of a lobster salad vs. warm lobster/butter pieces. So, that's on me! Although I wonder if anyone else has run into that issue when ordering the lobster roll? I opted for a Caesar salad upgrade vs. fries, but was still given fries anyways. A simple error turned out to be a fun meal add-on I wasn't expecting. Fries were crispy, would order differently next time. My husband ordered the Shrimp Po' Boy and that was delicious! It mentioned "famous" next to it, so had to try it ~ well worth the buttermilk bliss! Something to also note, they have awesome Kid's Meals which come in Bento Boxes (see pic). Another Sausalito classic! I've tried many of Sausalito's waterfront restaurants and Trident did not disappoint! Trident is located at the end, with great Bay views spanning from Tiburon, Angel Island, Alcatraz and the city. Service was quick and attentive. We started off with the Frito Misto (MUST get) which is a great starter dish with many seafood: fresh cod, jumbo prawns, calamari with zucchini and yellow squash. You can taste how fresh the seafood was! For entrees, we ordered the Steak Frites, Linguine Alfredo with prawns and Burst Cherry Tomato Pasta with prawns. Look at the size of the dishes! You will leave feeling stuffed! Large portions, decent pricing, good food, you can't go wrong at Trident. The seagulls on the patio made us laugh so hard! The Trident was a beloved institution on the ground floor of an iconic Sausalito building, and it's certainly sad to see it close. That said, the building still has so much potential and I'm excited to see who eventually brings new life to the space. In the meantime, something really special is happening upstairs. ERIA, located on the top floor, has been hosting incredible events that bring so much energy to the community. I've attended a few of their ticketed events and they were amazing, and I've also been lucky enough to attend some private parties there as well. The last time I was there, the owner was doing an interview series and shared parts of her story. Hearing about what she built from such a young age, despite people doubting her, was honestly inspiring. You can see how much heart and hard work goes into what she's created. Her venue was actually the first place I ever visited in Sausalito, and it's what made me fall in love with the town and keep coming back. Sausalito should treasure businesses like this--they bring life, creativity, and community to the area. We walked in around 2:30 pm on a weekday for lunch and got seated right away outside, which I highly recommend if the weather's nice. The highlights for me were the shrimp po'boy, oysters, and the creme brûlée. The sandwich was simple but solid. It had crispy shrimp and was in soft bread. Oysters were sweet! Service was painfully slow, even though the restaurant didn't seemed slammed and there were lots of empty tables around us. We sat outside on the covered patio, soaking up the perfect summer weather, and were treated to the unforgettable sight of dolphins swimming by right from our table. Can't go to a seafood waterfront restaurant without oysters! Ribs were okay. Weren't as tender as I had hoped but you can really taste the pineapple flavor. The coleslaw was not really coleslaw or I'm not sure how they do it but there's no Mayo, just a vinaigrette sorta dressing. 3/5 Calamari: could be more crispy and maybe a little seasoning. Just the sauce isn't enough to make it delicious. 2/5 Tacos: not sure what they were aiming for but the ingredients did not blend well at all. 1.5/5. Clam chowder: really watery and not creamy at all. Was actually insanely salty as well. 1/5 Ceviche: It was decent. A lot of fish but felt like there should've been more veggies/ other ingredients to balance it out. 3.5/5 TLDR: yeah mostly just came here for the view. We love to eat at the Trident! They have excellent food, the staff is great, the views of the bay are outstanding, and if you like some music history, this is the place! Many famous people have been here including The Rolling Stones, Janis Joplin, and others who live nearby. The Tolling Stones Tequila Sunrise was created here (as some say) and they named their tour after the drink in 1972. The pictures of Janis Joplin are placed above her favorite table in the house, where she could look out over the bay, glance over at the house she stayed in, and had her own little exit on the side of the Trident! Very disappointed. We sat down at 4:45pm. Not busy at all except for a table with about 10 people that grew over the hour and a half we were there. Ordered a drink and prizes of 1/2 dozen oysters. They were good. Ordered a soup each and a dinner. After almost 45 minutes still no food and the waiter never checked on us. I went to the bathroom and when I got back my wife told me the waiter came over and she told him she wanted the check. We had plan to eat somewhere else but my hubby saw The Trident restaurant remembering our previous lunches here. Quickly I made a reservation for 3 and made it at 12:15 pm. We got sat down by the window. Our server Gabriella was pleasant. We just ordered the Arnold Palmer, Sprite & Lemonade for drinks. My sister & I got the Captain's Platter to share and my hubby had his favorite Fish & Chips. The ambiance was beautiful as always. The casual food was good. The crème brûlée dessert was not so sweet. The server said they make it in house. The balance of sweetness contributed to a more enjoyable and complex taste experience. We saw the ferry boat passing by. My wife and I (locals from Mill Valley) decided to have dinner at the Trident tonight (July 5th). First, i must say that although the Trident has been architecturally "updated", and is now fully accessible for those who use wheelchairs and scooters for mobility, it has successfully retained its ambiance of the "60's"! Being inside the restaurant brings back many memories of when the Kingston Trio owned the restaurant, and of course, the view can't be beat! And those are probably the reason you should consider going there! The present food and service, not! We first ordered drinks. Although the restaurant was not at all busy (maybe 10-15 tables occupied), it took our server at least 15 minutes to get our drinks to us. Although I ordered a Scotch & soda with a lemon twist, my drink was served with two wedges of lime! So, I had to ask another server (ours was really hard to find!) for a lemon twist. Other than that, the drinks were fine. Then we ordered our salad - a Ceasar Salad split, and one order of the Fish & Chips and one order of the Fried Misto (fried Calamari, Cod, large prawns, and a few pieces of Zucchini and yellow squash). The Ceasar was good, although the white anchovies (2 filets) were layed on top of the salad, not blended with the oil and other ingrediants to ensure their flavor is spread throughout the salad, as the traditional Ceasar Salad was always made). I don't believe it had a coddled egg mixed into the salad dressing, either, which is another traditional part of a true Ceasar Salad. But the Romain lettuce was fresh, and the salad dressing was good. When the entrees arrived (served, like the salad, by another server), both of us were surprised by thw amount of seafood there was on both plates. Although Tartar Sauce was served ed wirh the Fish & Chips entre, my Misto was served with an Aoli dip, which was good, but I was not offered Tartar Sauce, something I would have preferred. Also, my Misto deep fried seafood looked like it had been battered with corn meal, again, good, but not traditional. When the server first took our order for salad, I had also asked for an order of sour dough French bread. Although that item never showed up, we weren't charged for it, but my issue is that it was ordered and we didnt get it! I would have liked having sourdough French bread with my salad! The two entrees were both fresh, good, and large portions, although I would have preferred a different batter for my seafood. I think, during our whole meal, the original server who took our bar qnd food order only showed up once during the time we were their (except at the end of our meal when I had to ask another server to find ours so I could get the check and pay for the meal. Also, the young woman at the front desk who seated us, who was very nice, or anyone else, for that matter, walked around the dining room inside and the deck outside to check with the customers to see if their drinks, meal, and service were all OK. Apparently the management didn't train their host/hostess staff to do that. If the hostess had come by our table during our meal, I would have told her that at no time during our meal did our server come by and ask if we would like any drinks (wine, champagne, beeror a second set of the drinks we had originally ordered. At $18 each!!) Will we go back to the Trident? Probably, although I'm not sure i/we will eat anything, based on the pretty outrageous starter and entre prices the Trident now charges! For the two of us, with the two drinks and the two entrees, our bill came to an astounding $131.92!!! And that was for two people! Clearly, the Trident owner/Manager dont expect locals from Marin or even the Bay Area to dine there more than once, which is too bad, since as a local, and when the Kingston Trio owned it, I dined there regularly. How many stars? We'll, I guess I will leave my last review of the Trident's two stars, mostly (1 1/2 stars for the vew, and the 1/2 star for the very poor-horrible service, but somewhat acceptable food) This is an edit addition: When reading some of the other reviews, I learned that the Trident actually add a surcharge! It wasnt enough that our bill forbthe 2 of us was (without tax or surcharge) $115.00, the owner/manager added a surcharge of $5.75 to our bill! Because of that, my review went down to 1 star, and would have been "0" stars, but Yelp requires at least one star!! Situated right on the water with immaculate views of San Francisco, this cute restaurant is a great way to spend your afternoon or evening with friends and family. We came here on a Saturday afternoon with a reservation, but it didn't look super packed until closer to dinner time. Also, it seemed like their parking lot was valet only for a price, so we opted for street parking nearby. The Trident has cozy heat lamps for their outdoor patio seating, which is essential when you're by the water. We enjoyed wine, coffee, and delicious plates of food outside and I would highly recommend sitting on their patio if you're able to. I ordered their Pan Seared King Salmon and my partner ordered the Lobster Roll. My salmon was cooked so well and the texture was soft. It was served on a bed of potatoes and vegetables, which were nice compliments to the salmon. My partner also really enjoyed his lobster roll as it was filled with a lot of lobster meat and the french fries were crispy and well-seasoned. Okay, I was impressed by the beach vibes of this restaurant the moment I walked in and saw the posters and memorabilia from the Kingston Trio -- which I've never head of, but I thought that was very cool! Another interesting and thoughtful piece of information to point out that they do was out a brief history of the Trident on the menu! Again, very cool! My beautiful girlfriend and I were seated right away, and got a really good view of the Bay. Our server was very friendly and attentive with us. Now, the food. We wanted to try out the Poke and the calamari. I thought both were very fresh and nicely put together, as you can see from the pictures. I'd like to highlight the sauce that came with the calamari - it was sooo good! Spicy and sweet that I would put it on anything! It's that good. I do think the calamari could have been more crispy. Some of the breading kept coming off. The fish and chips were okay. Hear me out - it was perfectly cooked, but it had too much oil. It might've been out of the water, but that fish was swimming in oil. The chips were crispy and had a great taste to it. I went yesterday and ordered a margarita. When I mixed it with my straw, a huge cockroach floated to the top of the drink. I let them know but they still didn't discount or gave any complimentary drinks. Not even an apology or nothing they just kept like nothing happened throughout my experience in the restaurant. read more

The view was amazing. The music was twice as loud as it needed to be. Intimate music is the vibe for restaurants, y'all. Valet parking is the only option. Gross. But the worst part is the unserious kitchen game going on here. $109 for two people and the food was not spectacular it was average at best. Why can't restaurants prioritize the kitchen as #1 on the list? The service was also below par. Another 1 and done for us. read more

First impression was how cool the interior design looked. It gave off a vintage feel to it which I loved! The great thing too is me and my boyfriend were seated right away. We started off with some appetizers and drinks-- I got an earl grey tea, and for us to share we ordered the poke tuna and calamari. I thought the poke tuna was good though it seemed like it needed the wasabi on the side. As for the Calamari, it was okay... every time I took a bite out of it the fried bread crumbs kept falling off. It lost the crispy texture of it. On to the main entree-- the fish and chips was really good! The fried batter wasn't too heavy, and it was light and crispy each bite I took. Although, the fries could be more golden and crispy but other than that the fish and chips is a must-try! Overall, I recommend this place for anyone who wants a crispy fish and chip! read more
