I walked by The Trident the last time I was in Sausalito and mentally noted that I had to return just to try this place. Situated right on the water with immaculate views of San Francisco, this cute restaurant is a great way to spend your afternoon or evening with friends and family. We came here on a Saturday afternoon with a reservation, but it didn't look super packed until closer to dinner time. Also, it seemed like their parking lot was valet only for a price, so we opted for street parking nearby. The Trident has cozy heat lamps for their outdoor patio seating, which is essential when you're by the water. We enjoyed wine, coffee, and delicious plates of food outside and I would highly recommend sitting on their patio if you're able to. I ordered their Pan Seared King Salmon and my partner ordered the Lobster Roll. My salmon was cooked so well and the texture was soft. It was served on a bed of potatoes and vegetables, which were nice compliments to the salmon. My partner also really enjoyed his lobster roll as it was filled with a lot of lobster meat and the french fries were crispy and well-seasoned. I recommend trying out The Trident if you're in Sausalito; it'll be a wonderful meal filled with beautiful views and quality food. read more

I think yelp needs to somehow change their star rating. One for food and one for service. Service was ok. We did not have a reservation but were able to be seated right away outside. We requested a table on the deck. The only thing the restaurant has for themselves, is the view. We started off with drinks and appetizers. Deviled eggs with bacon were not creamy. The yolk was dry and flavorless. Shishito pepper had a nice charbroil to them, and that's it. No seasoning. They give you a lemon to squeeze on top. Truffle fries, what an absolute disappointment. They actually made me sick. They tasted like they were smoked and sprinkled with Parmesan. They came with a warm, garlic aioli. Nothing special. Poor food: fresh ingredients but someone forgot the seasoning. I had grilled salmon on a salad that was pretty free of flavor; same with the poke salad. Others in our party said the clams and mussels were nothing to write home about. +1 star for kids meals- very nicely balanced- the burger is more like a slider; fries, salad and fruit were part of the bento box. Very nice touch. Service: waited so so long for dessert. We asked after 10 min wait. Waited another 5-10 min then asked for the check. Dessert came quickly thereafter. SMH. Ambiance: the views are great, uh, like they are from any part of Sausalito. We thought we were witnessing a boat sinking- that's how clear the water view was- but we realized it was just the booth seats that need to be repaired. Parking is only $7/hr, valet. DO NOT go to the "public parking" up the street on the left (opposite the water). They're a rip off at $18/hr and any increment up to 30 min past an hour is treated as a 1/2 hour. We ordered the "World Famous" Fish and Chips.($35) They were fresh and delicious ( chips were french fries) the coleslaw was good too! We used the Valet service when we came in. $10 to park . Slow and disorganized service. Walked in around 2p and was added to the "waitlist" which was a small piece of stained scratch paper with a bunch of scribbled down names. The host asked us to check back in within 20 minutes as she didn't have a way to give us a call/text when our table was ready. We came back 20 minutes later only to be asked to wait in the bar area. When asking about the remaining wait, she was unable to provide an ETA but stated she wouldn't forget about us. Throughout the next 30 minutes, we watched the confused wait staff fumble several reservations and folks waiting to be seating. Our hostess who "wouldn't forget" completely disappeared and reappeared with her handbag and left the restaurant all together. Passing the hour mark of waiting, I checked in with who we believe was the manager. He apologized for the wait and attempted to seat us immediately but when guiding us to our table, another party had already been seated before us by mistake. Rather than offer to seat us at the 15+ empty tables throughout the restaurant, he asked us to wait.....again. We left the restaurant around 3:45p, giving up all together. My "party" was myself and one other person. We had no special requests and were open to sitting anywhere. Love to get a chance to try this place one day, but with a wait this long and with 3.2ish stars...? Not worth it. Trust the bad reviews. This place sucks. read more

Other than the views the deciding factor was the Cioppino that was advertised as their "signature" dish. Very disappointed!! The crab body was whole so very messy and did not taste fresh. Very nicely situated along the Sausalito bay overlooking DTN SF. Came here for weekend brunch late fall via ferry from SF. It's a short walk from the dock. They offer a variety of delicious food and cocktails. Service is a little slow even though it wasn't as busy. After eating, take a stroll along their downtown to burn off the calories before heading back to SF. Highly recommended as a day trip and feasting here. You cannot beat the view. read more

I can only say in of my visiting here over the last 50 years, the views are Bay Classic. The drinks were perfect. The food is Eyeliscious, and the taste heavenly. Whether a date or family get together with a San Francisco Bay view of San Francisco ... inside or on the deck, it's always chill with an amazing staff. I just went there for lunch and will be returning with friends in a couple weeks. This place was an iconic island of coolness in the late 60's, the place to be seen in the 70's, and still is one of the best romantic locations in the SF Bay Area for dinner. I had a world class Bloody Mary, and we shared beautiful deviled eggs, perfect crab cakes with a fancy salad side, and luscious bowl of fresh Manila clams with perfect garlic bread. Service was fast and friendly. Flavors were spot on. This has always been a special place to me over the decades, and I hope decades to come. The views here are absolutely beautiful, and the wait staff was incredibly kind! The patio area is beautiful with many heaters to keep you comfortable! We had a pleasant getaway from San Francisco and took the ferry to Sausalito across the bay. What a beautiful, little town with lots of shops and restaurants. We decided to eat at the Trident seafood restaurants which is located over the water on its own pier. The views and ambiance were amazing, but that's where anything positive ended. The food was sub par and the service was slow and terrible. The place was empty, maybe 6 tables occupied at 5 PM on a Saturday. Food portions, although labeled large, were adequate at best; namely the oysters - large my butt. The server had to be chased down multiple times and barely spoke English. He had difficulty understanding us as well. The silverware was filthy, I had to get up and go to the bar and ask for new spoon. It looked like it had dried clear glue on it. I say that because we tried scraping it off with a butter knife and barely could chip it away. Mind you, that was our entertainment while waiting for our server to return from somewhere. The appetizer was served at the same time as my meal and that's an instant turn off for me. I was going to send it back since my meal was in front of me, but the 1/2 of a roasted chicken I ordered was so dry, I couldn't eat it. So, I ate the appetizer as my meal. We also were perplexed that there was a 5% surcharge added to the bill, that was not the tip. We discovered they added it to every bill to offset the increased wages the State of California mandates now. We have been here for almost a week and no other places in the city did that. I'm sure they blended into the cost of the food, but still gave us a sour taste of how ridiculous California laws can get. I wish I took pics for y'all but my phone died. Big fan of this restaurant! Not only is the view spectacular, the interior is a unique "fun and funky" throw back of the 60/70's. There is not a bad seat in the house. Our server was fun, enthusiastic and extremely accommodating. Now to the FOOD...yum! My sister ordered the clam chowder, and she said it is the best in Sausalito! I ordered the Kale salad which was full flavor and texture, and paired perfectly with my Bloody Maria. We'll be back again soon. read more

Me and the bachelorette party group came here to kick off our friend's bachelorette, and it was a perfect spot!! The view from the deck was amazing, and I'd definitely eat there if weather permits. The sun can get a bit bright so make sure you bring sunglasses lol I forget what everyone got, but I got the fish tacos and grapefruit mojito. I loved the refreshing drink along with the fish taco. I thought the dish was a bit skimpy with the fish at first, but I was pretty full by the end of the tacos. There are good options for wine and you can even get one of the famous Irish coffees, so I tend to take out-of-town friends here. The Irish coffee needs to be hot, not tepid to resemble the original Buena Vista brand it's advertised to be like. The fresh oysters from Washington were the star of the evening. The petrale and salmon were delicious despite an overly sweet sauce served with the salmon. It is best to request a piccatta sauce for the salmon. Both fish entrees were missing any lemon wedges, but our super competant waitress Gabi took care of that and many other requests we 3 had with the utmost respect, timely attention, and professionalism. I had a really nice lunch at the Trident last week. I was on my own having a staycation day in Sausalito. The weather was beautiful and I got a table all to myself looking out on the bay in all its glory. The hostess was very nice in setting up the table for me. They had a special Aloha Friday Menu and I got the salmon teriyaki sandwich with macaroni/potato salad. The salmon on the sandwich was good but the odd mix of condiments and overpowering amount of red onion rounds were too much. Easily corrected by removing onions but the remaining tomatoes,seaweed salad and sauce were an odd mix on the sandwich. I'll stick to something more classic next time. The service was very nice and the view made me really happy. Looking forward to returning and trying something else. read more

Yikes, I hate to rag on any local business trying to survive, but places like this one, that relies primarily on their location to get away with poor food and poorer service, should not be in business. We paid close to $200/person after taxes and tip for their New Years Eve dinner, and was provided some of the worst service we have ever experienced. The kitchen was severely understaffed, and a simple 4 course dinner turned into a 4-hour affair. That is an hour per course! We were in good company and spirit, so this could have been remedied by an attentive waiter, but we had the unlucky experience with the worst waiter in the restaurant. He did not bother to come by to refill water or ask if we wanted to order drinks will we wait for our food. In fact, he made it a point to avoid eye contact with every single table in his section, so he does not have to deal with any questions. Insult to injury, the lobster my wife ordered was burnt, and my lamb came out with a handful of peas and missing every other component listed with it. 4 hours into this ordeal, my wife was just done with the whole experience and asked the waiter for an update on desserts as we have been waiting for an hour for them to slice and plate some cakes. The waiter's replied everyone's waiting, not just you. Like come on, we just spent $800 and 4 hours waiting on a lackluster meal, the least you can do is pretend to make an effort. Restaurants like this one will always find a way to survive thanks to their prime real estate and waterfront view. They just have to do the bare minimum, but somehow they can't even manage to do that. read more
