Used to go here every week and get their Caesar salad. A whole baby leaf thing that was really good. Then one day the server said it changed to a chopped romaine and if that was OK. I thought that odd, but why not? It came out and the lettuce had a sickly sweet chemically processed character. I sent it back and got the wedge. The iceberg had the same character. Literally out of a bag, food service processed salad quality. Never been back since. I've been going to Joey Uptown and Moxies ever since. Came here last night and understandably they had a waiting list because it was Christmas Day. After waiting, I got seated. They have a QR code for menu and a live singer. I enjoyed the music while waiting for someone to answer the button you press for help. It took a while but she was very helpful in explaining what they only had for menu. I got the spicy chicken sandwich and a margarita. They were okay but the chicken was a bit salty. I didn't even get to finish one side of it. I don't know if they meant to make it THAT salty but it was a bit too much. I eat salty foods but I feel like they might have made a mistake with this one. My friend asked them to tell me where he was sitting when I got there but they just told me to go find him.. the place is pretty big so I was a little lost. Our server Edwin was super sweet, seemed like a little shy or nervous but great service ! By the end, the manager James ? Jace ? Steak Laredo was probably the best dish at our table. Some of our people also had the chicken, salmon, pork chop, ribeye. The appetizers are very, very good. Not sure why they don't have wings? I was a little surprised about The Rustic. They had a man playing music on the big stage with was so much fun for a Sunday. They had the music too loud but it's a big place so it's probably not as loud when the doors are open to the outside. Our bartender hardly visited us. We sat down and were immediately ready to order and we were told she would be right back. She walked around then went and talked to a couple for 10 minutes before coming back to us to take our order. We sat with our drinks empty for a couple minutes before she checked on us the second time. Usually this would not be odd but there were only 4 people at the bar including us. This place is also very pricey for an icehouse, it is significantly nicer than any other icehouse I've been to but I was surprised by the prices. I definitely plan to return and hopefully prove this experience as a one off but it was disappointing because this place seems like a high end icehouse. read more

I have been wanting to go to the Rustic for awhile. We finally went and were so disappointed. We both ordered the brisket burger and added fries. The burger was recommended by the waitress so we went with that. Then she came back and said the burger would not be available for 20 minutes did we want to wait. We went ahead waited. She brought the food and I asked for ketchup. They were out of Ketchup! The fries were an inch to 2 inches each which is too small and they were a little cold and dry. The burger does not come with lettuce or other condiments. It had a good flavor but was over cooked and we ordered medium, no pink was on the burger. The brisket on the burger was about the size of a pickle slice, basically a tiny taste of brisket. The waitress also recommended the banana pudding and since we were still a little hungry from not enjoying g the food, we tried it. Another mistake. Presented well but pretty flavorless. A disappointing experience and will not return. However, it looks like a fun spot for a drink and live music, just avoid the food. read more

Came here on a whim, not knowing what to expect. Turned out to be a new favorite brunch place! I love the option of having a brunch package that included literally a little of everything. Cheese and fruit plate, salad, avocado toast, baked eggs, donuts, chicken and waffles, sausage, and bacon... It was all delicious! AND.... ONLY $16.96 per person. WHAT A DEAL!!! They have a paperless menus, where you use the camera on your smart phone to just scan the scanner, and the phone will generate the menu site for you. So convenient and eco friendly! Save the trees! Having been to the downtown location, I was pretty excited to see construction start for another location in Houston. COVID isn't stopping them! You must wear a mask to enter and all servers are wearing masks. Menus can be found via scanning a QR code. I have to say I like this location more than downtown. Plenty of parking here and most of this one is covered so no worrying about being stuck in the heat. The "dance" floor area is smaller though. Live music is always a plus and the schedule can be found on their site. I highly recommend going here for brunch on a weekend! The "Let's Jam" brunch deal is spectacular. For just $17 you get: Fruit, Cheese, Salad, Egg Frittata, bacon, sausage, Nashville Chicken (+fried pickles, grits, cornbread piece), french toast, and a donut. Definitely more food than a "sampler" I've seen anywhere else. Everything was so so good, especially the salad/egg, chicken dish, and cinnamon donut (flavors rotate). The $10 carafe is also a great deal. Lots of drink options from juices, frozens, and cocktails. This is an awesome group spot! I will be back. read more

I'm a huge fan of The Rustic in downtown so naturally I had to come check their newest location out in the uptown park area. Personally, I like this new location a lot better. They are both equally awesome, but this one wins out because parking is a lot less of a headache here. The place is huge and social distancing is definitely seen and enforced. Paperless menus were in effect and there's a button to push if you want your wait staff to come to the table. Service was great. I took advantage of the happy hour and got a frozen mule. It was so nice and refreshing in the summer heat. I was told the house margarita was good too. One thing we always get at the other location is the famous onion rings. The last few times we went, they just didn't have them in stock. We finally got some here and they are still the best onion rings in town. They are perfectly breaded and the spicy seasoning is so good. One thing I did notice is that they don't have all the same things as their other location. I wanted the spicy ketchup but they don't carry it here. Also, sides are a la carte as opposed to included in downtown. For my entree I tried the Texas Hot Chicken and Cheese. Mannn, this sandwich slaps! It's a pretty sizable sandwich and I only took down half. The chicken is breaded with the same breading as the onion rings and you know how much I love the onion rings. Everything was delicious! I will definitely be back and I think I will drive out of the way to come to this location. It's in a great area for before or after shopping and parking is free! read more

I try to be reasonable on my commentaries especially if I can be funny. But here, at The Rustic, was no joke. I had called in a week's advance notice about making a reservation. I was told "please make it closer to the date". I did only to be told they do not make reservations for Friday or Saturday nights. The day of the event comes and I am ready at the line to get my reservation for my table of seven. I was in line for about 10 mins and then the directed the entire waiting line to form another line to another podium. In no fashion order, three people got ahead of me because the podium was closer to them. After bit of shuffling, it was "straighten" out. An hour and three quarters past, in which the last 20 mins I was told I was next. We sat outside. Ordered our food. I'll say this: busy night so service was lacking and their organizational skills was poorly executed. Nonetheless, the food was decent. Albeit, we were a group of seven, the food came at different times and, in particular, the burgers had cold centers - not a good thing when the burger is your staple menu item. Conversely, the ambiance was great. The noise level was tolerable for such a buzzy noisy place (next to the highway). The band was pretty good. Overall experience is at a 2.0 on a 1-5 scale, cold food is never a good thing. The weather was nice and we were in good company. I recommend two suggestions: 1) Sit outside on a pretty night so not to get overly exhausted with everything else going on about in your area. 2) While there's plenty of parking, come early because it goes fast and not to mention, valet takes a good chunk of it. read more

The ambience was very Texan, made me feel right at home as a native Houstonian. It was early in the afternoon so we did not wait for seating that much. Service was great! Austin was our server, and mentioned it was his first time serving. He was attentive to our table and was there when we needed him. He had a kind demeanor and was courteous when he took our order. Food was Amazing though they had a small selection of steaks and their specialties; I thought they would have more variety. Small portions is what they give but the taste makes up for it (Had the Steak Laredo and did not disappoint). This is definitely the new hot spot in Uptown Galleria area! Their food is absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection. My bf and I have become regulars because the staff, food and drinks are amazing. This is also one of the few places that have the Coronarita which is my favorite. The steaks were cooked perfectly medium with a lot of flavor. I loved how the broccolini had a smokey flavor to it just like the smoked dip duo. The staff is very friendly. The bathrooms are clean.
