Perfect after work hang out spot. I frequent the rustic for happy hour and brunch. The brunch is buffet style only, but the options widely vary and it's more than enough to fill you up. The waiters are always quick and checking up on you and the live entertainment is a great touch, along with it being an indoor and outdoors space. It can get pretty busy so if that bothers you, you may want to avoid peak hours. read more

Not only that but the live music ambiance really set the tone. This amazing spread is called the "Let's Jam " brunch which is served family style. 10/26/21 Drinks: I ordered the virgin mojito and it came without mint leaves, making it less than a mojito. But wait and the drink had a fly floating in it. Food: I ordered the grilled artichoke appetizer. The flavor was delicious but it wasn't edible. You could not chew it down enough to swallow it kind of like gum. The manager came over and asked about it and I explained I could not chew it up. I replaced that appetizer with Tortilla soup. The tortilla soup was REALLY GOOD. No complaints there. The salmon burger was also good but not half as tasty as the Rustic Burger Service: I had to ask for more water after they walked past an empty glass on multiple occasions. Its difficult to miss The large words of The Rustic off of the 610 highway and the facility itself is huge and very well decorated. Monthly rent here must be off the charts! The family style brunch is what got my party to come here. Mimosa are $9 for a carafe and can serve 4 glasses for each of them. Pretty damn good deal! For $17 bucks, you'll be served a fixed menu that is around 7 separate dishes. Another great deal! However the mini donuts that are usually served, came as muffins because the waitress explained that the mini donuts were 3rd partied from a local vendor who decided to retire. Therefore, they were forced to get muffins as a substitute. If this was communicated clearly prior to ordering, it would have set me expectations better. Another gripe I had was that their black coffee tasted like burnt cigarette water. Coffee products are definitely NOT The Rustics strong suit. Stay away from it! I should have ordered a second carafe of mimosas. Looking past the atrocious coffee and the lack of mini donuts, I still had a good time here. Will have to come back again! read more

Sad to say we had a poor experience today for Father's Day. It started with no plates on the table for our food, which was served 5 minutes before we could eat it. We had a large party that mostly ordered the brunch special. Half of the table had food with no plates and we asked 3 separate people for help. We found out that we were served another tables food which is why the portions were off. Two members of our party work in the food service industry and alerted our server to the mistakes, she explained the mixed up, apologized and explained that our food was being prepared. We explained that half of us had food that we couldn't eat and the other side of the table had nothing which is not acceptable service. Then we were met with an attitude. The potatoes and bacon were severely over seasoned and the biscuits were hard. The last time I went to The Rustic, my friend accidentally went to the Downtown location. We loved it. Our server told us that the Post Oak location has a different vibe. He said that the Post Oak location has a more upscale/steakhouse vibe. I have no clue what he was talking about. Although I am glad that he was wrong about that, and we enjoyed our visit to the Post Oak location, my friend and I agree that we prefer the Downtown location. The Post Oak location is also an open air venue, it's just a smaller location. I think that both locations "fit" the area in which they are located. Today we started with the steakhouse onion rings. These are very thick cut onion slices battered and fried to crisp perfection, served with Texas hot ranch. Pretty good. We both ordered the Rustic burger (topped with house smoked brisket, white cheddar, green chiles and grilled onion). It comes with smoked salt potato chips, but I substituted the chips for fries (the fries are also served with that yummy Texas hot ranch). My french fries originally arrived cold. But, Steven (or Stephen?) brought out a new order of hot, fresh french fries very quickly. I am so glad I bothered to ask! The fresh french fries were so good! They have some sort of rosemary or something to them. Fresh, hot fries made all the difference. We were both VERY happy with the Rustic burger. Everything on this burger works together like a song. Overall, I don't think you can go wrong with either location. While we sort of prefer the vibe of the Downtown location, the Post Oak location is closer to us both. I have made three visits to The Rustic, downtown Houston, once and Uptown Houston, twice. All were spaced apart by a few months. The service is consistent, the atmosphere is solid and the food is great. I have only had brunch there and highly recommend it for groups, especially. Our first time here at The Rustic and we had came with a larger party. We didn't even think about calling in a reservation which we should've knowing how many people were going to dine in with. However, the check in process was super quick and easy. Initially they said that the wait would prob be around an hour wait but we had just stepped out for maybe not even more than 5 mins and they were able to get us in and seated right away. The Rustic is absolutely awesome!! I went for a solo brunch because I had seen the photos and always passed by this place saying that I was gonna visit. Well one Sunday I got my chance. I was greeted and seated by the hostess. I was informed to press the button at the table after scanning and reviewing the menu for my decision. A waitress greeted me and explained how you get everything for the brunch. It was almost like a mini buffet and I wasn't expecting that. So I gave it a try and I absolutely loved everything that came out. I took my time to eat and ordered drinks. The only thing that was just ok were the grits but everything else & the drinks were awesome. There was also live music going on so I really enjoyed that. Ok hear me out...the family style brunch here is a MUST!! To be honest, I probably could go here for brunch every weekend and be completely okay with it. I can't speak for anything else here besides the brunch experience though, but there's other reviews for that. For $16-something a person, you are provided with a set meal that gives you a bit of everything-- light bites, fried savory options, and sweet French toast and donuts to finish it off. They will increase the serving size of each dish depending on the size of your party, so no worries, there will be plenty of food to go around. It honestly is a lot of food, and I always felt stuffed after the meal. The ambiance is also great! Lots of seating both indoor and outdoor with live music. It's a very lively and fun place. Did I particularly feel super safe during COVID? Not really due to how many people were there during peak hours. On the plus side, the space is very large and open, and it allowed the tables to be decently spaced apart. This made it feel a little bit better. read more
