I came to The Kennedy on a Saturday night with my two cousins, and we had a great experience from start to finish. They offer valet only, but it was super easy. It's $10, and the valet stand is right in front of the restaurant, so parking was hassle-free. The ambiance is one of my favorite things about this place. It's dark, moody, and chic, making it a great spot for a date night or a girls' night out. We started with drinks, and I ordered the Lavender French 75. It was so good that I ended up ordering another one later in the evening. It had a great balance of flavors. We skipped the appetizers and went straight to the entrées since we were hungry. I ordered the Chilean sea bass, and it was absolutely delicious. The glaze was flavorful, and the creamy parsnip purée it was served over complemented the fish perfectly. It was definitely the standout dish of the night. For sides, we shared the truffle fries, mashed potatoes, and mac and cheese. The truffle fries had a great truffle flavor, and the mac and cheese was rich and flavorful. It was a little heavy for a side dish, but still very good. One of my cousins ordered the lobster pasta, and it was very good. The sauce was packed with flavor, and the lobster was cooked perfectly. To finish the meal, we shared the cookies for dessert. They were good, but nothing particularly memorable. Overall, we had a wonderful experience. Let's start by saying the establishment itself is beautiful and nicely decorated. I love piano bars and live music. Soon as we walked in there was an artist singing on the piano. If you're wanting to have a more intimate dinner I suggest being seated farther into the dining space versus the bar. I went for a friend's birthday dinner, so we were seated in a separate dining room. The space itself was elegant and intimate. Think candle light dinner with a great group of friends. The Kennedy has a television in the room as well that displayed a slide show of the birthday girl which I think is a nice touch not only for celebrating birthdays but cooperate events as well. We were serviced immediately and our servers were very attentive refilling water and taking our drink orders immediately. I will say service felt a bit rushed at first but feedback was given at the beginning of service by the guest of honor. Following feedback staff took the feedback and adjusted accordingly which was appreciated. We had a 3 course pre-fixed menu and honestly it was hard to choose as everything sounded so good. I ordered a Side Car which was nicely balanced and I loved the sugar rim! The Prime Rib Tacos had to be some of the best tacos I've ever had! The beef was moist and tender. The in-house made tortillas tasted authentic and were toasted perfectly. The homemade salsas were both great too, we were given a salsa roja and salsa verde. I had the Kennedy Caesar Salad for my second course, lettuce was crisp but I will say the chef could have placed less red pepper flakes as garnish. It made for a Caesar Salad that was a bit too spicy. Lastly, my third course was the Gremolata Lamb Chops. I requested my lamb be cooked medium well. I did have one piece that was not prepared that way, it was well done which made for a tough bite. The truffle mashed potatoes and gremolata was delicious. Today, for brunch, I drove 35 minutes with my teenage daughter to join a few of our church members to celebrate our friend relocating to Dallas, only to be told upon arrival (by the GM) that they do not allow children or guests under a certain age. What was especially frustrating is that there was no indication of this policy on the restaurant's website, social media pages, or the entrance to the establishment. My husband and I have patronized the restaurant for dinner before. We were surprised and disappointed to learn of this restriction during brunch only after making the trip. Had the age policy been clearly communicated in advance, we could have made other plans and avoided the inconvenience. I would encourage management to clearly post any age restrictions online and at the entrance so that future guests can make informed decisions before visiting. Unfortunately, the lack of transparency left us questioning whether the policy was being applied consistently, and it is disheartening to leave wondering whether rules are being created or enforced differently for people of color. While businesses in Texas have fairly broad discretion, a hidden policy can create confusion and leave guests feeling unwelcome. In this case, also left my daughter with a lot of questions that we now have to address, as she always goes to brunch with us and has never experienced this type of treatment. read more

I'm a bit disappointed that this place has such low reviews. First of all, the spot is cute!! I love the vibe. I will say at a certain time lights go out and I'm at the age where I have to then tilt that lamp to see the menu. We went for steak night. Winning! I definitely failed at not taking a picture of the menu. The steak was great. I love me some garlic butter and they did not skimp on it! My steak was undercooked (I like medium well) but that reheat the next day was perfect. They were a bit stingy with the potatoes but after all the other food I had, it turned out to be just enough. Now if this was the only thing I ate, I would have been disappointed. We were offered the happy hour menu by our waiter but then later told that happy hour after 8 is only at the actual bar. Tues-Thurs. Is reverse Happy hr 8-10p.m. but only at the bar. The one 3-6p.m is the entire restaurant. We were sittung at tables near the bar, not the bar. The waiter later tells us that the manager will honor the food for HH price but not the drinks. After speaking with the manager she then allowed us to get ahag we ordered at happy hour price for bothe food and drinks but made us aware that any other drinks would be at cost. I went to The Kennedy on a Thursday evening for my cousin's birthday dinner. Got there around 7:30pm, valeted the car and walked in. The valet was a bit hectic, so it was hard to make my way in. As soon as I got in, I spotted my cousin setting up the table. We were seated at the back of the restaurant at a table for about 15 people. The restaurant has a nice aesthetic but it was smaller than what I expected. There was also a corporate happy hour happening at the same time so it made the space feel small. Nonetheless, we were in the back so plenty of space for us. Nothing on menu screamed out to me, and because the rest of our party got there so late, the waiter only started taking orders at 9pm. I wasn't hungry anymore so I didn't order and can't speak on the food. I did get a great mocktail but charging $15 for basically juice is insanity. I originally came to check out a coffee shop that used to be inside, but it's no longer there. I decided to stay anyway and ended up getting an iced coffee and I'm so glad I did. The Kennedy really is a nice place to have dinner. We dined on a Thursday night and there were not many people. We did have reservations however there was more than enough space for more customers. The Kennedy is valet parking only for the dinner hour but parking attendant stated that during the lunch hour some days it's self parking. When calling there is a $5 charge for valet before 3 and after 3 that charge is $10. The parking lot is very small. Major turn off is valet is right in front of the door so you're paying to valet and walk right up to the entrance. If you can find street parking and don't mind the walk that's an option as well. They do have a dress code here so if you're walking your dog and decide to dine, this is not the place for you. It's nicely decorated and put together, great ambiance and it was not too loud this night. Was able to have conversations without screaming across the table and the pianist most definitely kept us entertained while dining. He was very personable, came and introduced himself. Took requests and has an amazing voice. The restrooms were nice and clean. I liked that the stalls were individually roomed and the black toilets were a good addition to the uniqueness of the decor. On to the food and drinks. I ordered the Cucumber Hibiscus Smash. It was delicious! I thoroughly enjoyed how refreshing and crisp this drink was. It was made just right. For my entree, after seeing the bisque, I chose the Kennedy Caesar Salad with Shrimp added. I also chose to add a side of the Jalapeño Blue Cheese dressing as I wanted to try it. This choice was most definitely the best for me. I'd come here again just for this salad. I also was eyeing the lobster bisque as my entree however a few people ordered and it didn't give me bisque vibes. It was more on the broth side with no cream in sight. That's not bisque to me, however there are some that may see this differently. Others in my dinner party made note that the mashed potatoes were on the sweet side so I was glad that I didn't go with that. Also important to note, don't come expecting normal size portions. This is more on the tapas side of dining and the portions versus price would leave most wondering why they are still hungry after spending about a hundred bucks on dinner. Choose wisely. I opted out of dessert as I was full from the salad I inhaled. Yes that salad was filling. Others opted out of dessert due to price. Our waitress Jackie was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. Gave great advice on dishes to order and suggestions of changes that could be done. It's important to note, that there is a card acceptance fee charge for each guest(even if all on one check), auto gratuity(normal for our size party), they can only split the check per party three times, and they are a 21 and up restaurant. I have been here twice, once on Easter for brunch in a booth and once on a Saturday night for dinner and drinks at their bar. I want to start off by saying I hope the owner or manager reviews these because I cannot stress enough how amazing Thazerein S. (Bartender) was. The Kennedy! I found this lovely restaurant near downtown and I plan to visit again. The atmosphere was very east coast and upscale with a live pianist playing recognizable songs that we've heard on the radio at some point in our lives. I loved it. Service was decent, the only thing I did not enjoy was that it took a good 15 minutes after we were seated before a server came and acknowledged us. This was before the restaurant became busy (6:30PM), so I was a little disappointed. HOWEVER, they redeemed themselves immensely with the food and cocktails :-) I started out with a mozzarella stick covered in caviar and the ribeye tartare. I recommend both. Next I ordered a Lavender 75 which is basically a French 75 with a lavender liqueur that added a beautiful color to the cocktail. Once that was gone I ordered the Amalfi Spritz (their version of an aperitif spritz or aperol spritz. Again very instagram-able and tasty. These two cocktails gave me an appetite so I ordered the Chilean Sea-bass. My tongue salivates still just thinking about it . The portion was small but it was very delicious and very well seasoned. As the evening went on past 8PM, the atmosphere took a turn and became more lively. House music began to play and the people entering seemingly became more beautiful. Rolls Royces rolled through the valet and the tone of the restaurant transformed into a buzzing hotspot. To end the night I ordered two, yes two espresso martinis because I have to try them out at every restaurant that has them and the first one was just too good . This is a cute spot. I went for Sunday brunch. Valet is $5 before 3 and $10 after 3. Surprisingly, this spot wasn't busy at all. Only 3 other parties consisting of 2-3 people each. Service was good, although some of the food came out slow. I got the lavender cocktail which had real lavender in it, DELICIOUS!!! For my meal, I ordered the lobster and grits. It had great flavor BUT the lobster was chopped into bite size pieces and fried in cornmeal and placed IN/ON TOP of the grits. I would have preferred the lobster to be whole. I will say the food is much more enjoyable but it took about 45 minutes to get our drinks with only like 12-15 people in the restaurant. This was one of my worst dining experiences. Most of the fault was on the kitchen. When you have a one page menu, and only 5 entrees to choose from, a table of 9 shouldn't be getting their entrees out 2 at a time with each two being able to finish their entire dish before the next one's come out. The waitress was visibly annoyed at the kitchen just trying to bring us our orders, but she got a lot of the tab wrong. We ordered a second order of fries for a starter, never received, but it was on the bill. We were charged for things we didn't order a 4th $24 mozzarella stick and a 5th Guavatini cocktail. The ribeye doesn't come with any sides, so my friend ordered a side of polenta which was listed as a side with the filet, and it never came out. It eventually came out when our entire meal was finished but we didn't want it at that point. Our waters were never refilled. Bussers were clearing dishes before I even got to eat. The food was decent, but it wasn't anything to write home about and definitely not to the level that excused the HORRIBLE kitchen service. The burger was greasy, the lobster spaghetti was good, and they, of course, got the steak temperature wrong. The website says there is live pianist at the time we were dining, and that was not the case. Because of all of the issues faced, I had to review the bill before paying and here is where it went even more downhill. She handed me the little phone sized system to review and the itemizations were put in the order she entered the items in, i think per seat at the table, so it was not listed as 4x Guavatinis, 3x mozzarella sticks, 2x deviled eggs, which means I had to sit there and try to decipher line by line while she stood waiting for me. The only thing i caught at the time was the order of fries we never got, so she removed it and I paid. I didn't remember to confirm if auto group gratuity was already added, and I didn't you can only get a text or email receipt, so I emailed it myself, and I didn't receive it in my email for over 24 hours! After finally getting it in my email, thank GOD they didn't auto charge group gratuity and I didn't accidentally give 20% over that, but what I did see was a 3% Credit Card surcharge and the two extra items. I wrote to them on instagram and requested someone call me regarding my experience, so they called me tuesday evening apologized, and eventually sent me back the money for the two items i was over charged form but didn't ask about my experience. I think these things are forgiveable for a new place, and i hope they find success eventually, but overall I just can't get behind this. Their saving grace were that the cocktails are good. I've been to this establishment once before but for drinks only. I really enjoyed my first experience and wanted to come back and try the food. Unfortunately, none of my party liked their food. Everything tasted bland and previously frozen. I will come back for the drinks and ambience; however, will stick to the truffle fries next time. read more

I'm a financial and ops analyst for a restaurant group. I saw reviews and wanted to understand more about the service issue here, as it is beautiful and has a lot of potential. Main issue: they run with one service bartender in the back. It took 25 minutes between rounds, the odd thing is that they had 4 bartenders on in the front, yet only made drinks for the bar. Sincere Recommendation: to save on labor and communication with servers and their tables: move service bartender to main bar. Run with 3. Have one main service bartender and the other two can help with the drink orders pumping out from the tables. It made zero sense to me with having the bartender so far removed. Anyhow, it was a lovely joint and the food was good! Just really need to focus on the timing on drinks, it put a terrible taste in all 6 of our mouths. read more
