The Rustic is one of the restaurants in Dallas that whenever I have people visiting from out of town, I always take them here. Great food, quick service, fun and open atmosphere. And they have a large outdoor section for good weather. And you may even be lucky enough to be there on a night they have live music. read more

Attended the Cory Morrow concert and didn't have a ticket. They would not sell you a ticket at the door, you had to buy one with your phone. Kind of annoying and not very service oriented. Not to mention the $33 price tag for the GA ticket. The bar tenders were pleasant, but they don't have a fully stocked bar. They don't have any energy drinks, no southern comfort, and not a lot of choice for beer. Their drink prices are outrageous. $8 for a can of beer. I'll stick to the Truckyard in The Colony. My girlfriend and I went to this restaurant around 1pm on a Sunday for lunch. I really wanted to try out their Drunk Chick. However, I was told by the waitress that that only brunch is served until 3pm. I did not see this clearly advertised on their menu or online. This was very disappointing. Even though me and my girlfriend were irritated, we decided to try out some food there. I chose the brunch for $16.95 and my girlfriend tried their Rustic Burger. Why is this establishment selling a burger yet the waitress told me they are only selling brunch? I though a burger would be considered a lunch or dinner item? Anywho, our food arrived and I was very disappointed in the portion sizes. I got more spinach than meat. Also, they gave a so-called fancy spread crackers, bread, cheese, butter, a very small donut , and other items. I was not impressed with the food or portion sizes. My girlfriend's burger had no seasoning. Also, our waitress was not good at all. She did not appear to care about helping us navigate the menu or help us in anyway. Luckily, another waiter helped us out. I believe he could tell we were not happy. At this point, I would say AVOID this place. What a great place with a huge "backyard." The restaurant is great for families, singles or groups. Large garage style doors open up to the yard area that has trees and lightening. I enjoyed a salad with shrimp. The pimento cheese was also tasty. The atmosphere is what brings people back though!! read more

It was $16 a person and there was a range of different foods. It was portioned to how many people you had in the party, so enough for each person to have a piece of everything. (it's a set menu already, so you don't have to worry about thinking about to get, I know we all have that foodie problem when you want everything haha) What is brunch with mimosas really? They serve a $10 carafe mimosa per person. It's just enough champagne to definitely make it boozy, so definitely worth the buck. Mimosa and food presentation was very cute and spread out, it filled our table up, and I thought the table was big too. The service was amazing, our server was super friendly and explained everything really well. I will be coming back in the near future for brunch with some friends! 10/10 recommend. read more

I had the opportunity to visit the Rustic and have a late afternoon snack. Well, it's tough to just order one thing here and feel satisfied. I decided to unleash my inner fat kid and indulge in all sorts of Rustic goodness. Since a decent portion of my childhood involved dislocating my shoulder slaughtering quail, I have a taste for the bird. The menu said something about it being brined in molasses, which concerned me, but it actually gave a interesting texture that went very well with the spicy pecan sauce. It didn't taste anything like the pecan pie and molasses I expected. The natural gaminess of the quail meshed well with the sweetness and was cut with the cilantro. The bartender, Rich, suggested the hot chicken. I'm usually here after 3 but today was an early visit, and I can't believe ANYTHING on this menu is under ten bucks. It was awesome. I might come back here just to order this again. It's incredible and I'm very glad I split it with my friend. Just look at the damn thing! Where else are you going to find a sandwich like this in Uptown? The chicken was plump and spicy, the seasoning was divine, and they did not skimp on mayo - a usual pet peeve. I'm not much for dessert after eating like a hog and drinking usually, but peanut butter pie seemed like a good idea. It was. The peanut butter was light and a great compliment to the decadent fudge. The chocolate sauce wasn't very sweet and was fun to swab up all the crumbs from the crust. Quite delicious. It's gigantic. Two adults left dessert on the table. Also can't go without saying that the scenery at the Rustic is fantastic. It's a great place to blow a couple of hours before I drive home to Fort Worth. I might be perving right now. I laugh at the hipster comments. I'm the furthest thing from whatever the hell that is supposed to be, and I roll here for great food, goblets of Miller Lite, and to gawk at pretty girls on the patio wearing yoga pants. There was a blonde woman in here in a tiny purple sundress that baby Jesus either especially loved or is married to a great plastic surgeon. She made her friends - nice looking away from her - look like Cinderella's stepsisters. I usually get at least one sighting like that at the Rustic, and sometimes more. I've come here multiple times for large gatherings and drinks. Their margaritas are delicious and strong. Their outdoor area is huge and there's live music which is fun. Came for food for the first time about a week ago. My friend and I got the chicken tings tacos and French fries. At dinner you can get the tacos only if you have two people. They first brought out pork tacos but were very apologetic and took it back. The chicken tacos tasted good but I don't think they were worth the 26 dollars we ended up paying for them (12.95 per person). I'll def be coming back here for drinks and to hang out but not for food specifically. read more

Our disappointment was when we were told the food wasn't unlimited, you pay for ala carte if you want more food. They serve brunch family style with a variety of food, mostly consisting of pork. Unfortunately, most of my party didn't eat pork so they barely ate anything. Next time we will be ordering off the menu. Food was really good and Rustic, very fresh. Loved the atmosphere/layout, didn't love the service. The waiter came by our table and spilled beer all over me and then just said "oops". He didn't even try to clean it up afterwards. In fact, he disappeared for like 10 minutes and came back with 3 napkins. Ridiculous. One of the guys in the group ordered a burger and it got delivered like an hour later. The waiter never came by to refill our waters, even after my friend flagged him down and specifically requested water. The tables near us also started to fill-in we must sit there about 25 minutes and several people around us already had their coffee and drinks and started to get their food and we still have not gotten anything. Do not go on the weekend. Service sucked. Waited over 45min for a bottled corona( which "they were out" but had the margaritas with the corona served to 2 tables around us). Asked 3 different servers to bring my friend a modelo and even then they brought it tap after another 15 min waiting. The Frose was not good watered down. Did not try the food since took to long to even get the drink. It's a cute place but not worth that hassle to even get serve. The button they have does nothing never got checked on if we were ok. I have been here many times since moving to Dallas. It is a decided fan/crowd favorite for several reasons including cool drinks, lots of space including fun outdoor seating, frequent live music, corn-hole in said outdoor seating area and all in all decidedly Texas decor ( think cow skulls, leather, and southwest architecture) I have to say, I personally love their drinks ( many fun, inventive cocktails at moderately reasonable prices) and their taco plates ( make your own tacos... i may be partial to the interactive element). I also should mention that their frozen drinks are tasty and VERY generously portioned. I will say, however, that food wise, other than the tacos, other options are somewhat lacking and sometimes overcooked. Overall, I go here for the good times with friends rather that expecting a truly upscale culinary experience. But it is a unique place to visit for happy hour, and friends visiting from out of town. We visited The Rustic on a pre-holiday Monday expecting to have access to full menu, but only the weekend brunch, a burger, and salads were available options. All turned out well after starting with a carafe of mimosas. The family style brunch was really great! Lots of variety: baked eggs, crispy bacon, sausage, polenta cheese cakes, baby greens salad, cheese and fruit plate, Challah French toast, beautiful fried chicken and thick cream gravy, and two little donuts. Wow! Nicely presented and all delicious. The burgers were big and juicy and accompanied by house-made chips. All ingredients are locally sourced, which we loved. Also really liked the rustic wood-covered walls. Lots of seating outside at umbrella tables. Very nice start to our day! read more

Disclaimer: this review is written/typed with the sole purpose of telling you that you need to come here for lunch for the hot chicken & cheese stat! I've been wanting to try The Rustic for a while but was waiting it out until my boss invited me to lunch one day and I couldn't resist. Little did I know that I was about to be in a fried chicken and cheese, carb-loaded heaven. The group of us ordered the cheese/queso starter which came with really great kettle chips. I didn't try the cheeses but I had a few chips on their own. The hot chicken & cheese lunch deal is an unbeatable price just under $10 which really can't be beat for the amount of food that you get. The chicken is tasty and cooked well, and the toast is buttered right and cooked to perfection (not burnt, not soggy). I will say that the sandwich wasn't as spicy as I was hoping for, but it's still great. I'm thinking the lunch portion is the same as the dinner portion as it's really enough to share between two people. But at $10 a plate w/fries or chips, I say just down it yourself and have carb-filled regrets later. read more

Service was fast and friendly. What surprised me the most they serve French press coffee and it was really good. I drink it black and did not find it very bitter but very smooth tasting , like a good whisky. The French onion dip was very good, the huge pieces of onion in it were sweet and cooked perfectly. The chips needed more salt and were kind of bland. The French onion dip was more on the sweet side , I kind of prefer the Lipton onion box dip overall but I am glad I ordered it and gave it a try. The goat cheese with the Bread is a must order. The best thing about the goat cheese is the roasted garlic on top.
