Visiting this place is like stepping back in time. So much nostalgia. The last time I visited I wasn't a fan of coneys or root beer. You can still enjoy a visit here if that's the case for you, but this place is definitely for those kids and "adult" kids who love coneys and root beer. Root Beer: I've become a bit of a root beer aficionado over the past year and one thing I've learned is that everyone has a slightly different take on it. From my understanding, The Root Beer Stand originally served A&W and their current is fairly similar to it. It's smooth with less carbonation than A&W and heavy on vanilla just like A&W. As a result I wouldn't take away a half gallon or more of this stuff but when mixed with their smooth vanilla ice cream in a root beer float it's one of the best drinks in the area. My girlfriend got a red cream soda float and that was just as delicious. Coneys: Delicious and cheap. The chili has something in it that reminds me of pizza sauce - maybe extra tomatoes compared to Skyline/Goldstar? Idk...but it was still good. Other: Their popcorn is fantastic although a bit salty. They have a decent number of parking spots and places to sit and a nice playground for the kiddos. TLDR: Come here for nostalgia, root beer floats, and a cheap fun meal! read more

One of my favorite places to go when I'm craving a burger and something sweet. The Chattanooga cheeseburger is my favorite, it's really the only food item I order. I also love their root beer floats! Food doesn't take too long, and there's plenty of seating options around the area. The only thing is I love the taste of their root beer in the floats, so I'll buy a half gallon or gallon to go and each time it goes flat after a day and it starts to feel like I'm drinking syrup. read more

I had read great reviews about The Root Beer Stand. In fact, one of my coworkers had recommended I should try it. Being a HUGE root beer lover, I couldn't wait to give it a try. I just wish I had enjoyed it. I arrived at the Root Beer Stand and was impressed by how crowded they were. The young woman who took my order was friendly, which added to the relaxed vibe. I ordered a cheeseburger, a large root beer, and a half-gallon of root beer. Even as busy as they were, the wait was not bad...roughly 12-14 minutes. The cheeseburger was not hot...just slightly warm. I took a few bites of it, but I just couldn't finish it because it tasted off. I knew it was done, but it was "barely" done. The biggest disappointment, was the root beer itself. The root beer I had in the cup tasted like flat soda pop. There wasn't any fizz to it, just liquid. There was some flavor to it, but I felt like I was drinking iced tea. The half-gallon of root beer had the exact same consistency and taste. I really wanted to like The Root Beer Stand, but after experiencing their cheeseburger and root beer, I don't believe it's for me. read more

Found this place through Yelp! (Of course.) In town for a basketball tournament and wanted to grab something quick in between games and hotel check in. Love little local places and this one did not disappoint! We knew we were in the right place almost instantly when, while waiting to place our orders, everyone standing around had nothing but extremely positive things to say about the food! One gentleman told us that he'd visited this location for 44 years! Another gentleman told us that he's been coming since he was a boy and he always orders the same thing. The footlong chili cheese. This place is also said to make their own root beer and you can buy it by the half or full gallon. We of course for that and it was the best root beer I've ever put in my mouth! I had the footlong with chili, cheese, onions and mustard. The food is amazing, prices are great and if we had time we would have taken advantage of the outdoor seating area. There is also a little play area for the younger customers. Overall this was a great visit and we will definitely be stopping back by for more footlongs when we return to Cincy. Few businesses have adapted so well to distancing and increased cleanliness in the age of Covid, but TRBS makes it look easy. They have moved ordering outside, added online ordering, touchless pay options and signs which direct human traffic. On this visit, we ordered the Timmy, a gallon of root beer, a cheese hot dog, hamburger, chips and 2 floats. Food was same as it always has been-good and root beer was cold. Outdoor seating has been moved around to accommodate more people so we got to enjoy being outside without feeling pressured to share the space. Another win for The Root Beer Stand! read more

Sunday afternoon lunch with a couple friends. It's been quite some time since my last visit. I had a CincySavers voucher that expires EOM so wanted to use it. Food was alright, service was friendly. We sat at the bar. I love the new layout and outdoor seating options. For me, food was just alright. I got the footlong with chili, onion, mustard and cheese and a root beer float. What a great place! We stopped in while in the area and it's a really neat drive-in from the past. We had the dogs and burgers and they were very tasty, as was the root beer! It was one of the worse hot dog, root beer stand. The food is not edible. The hot dog wasn't cooked, the French fries were rancid and the root beer was flat. After a few bites we through the entire order in the trash. I can't imagine how this place is open. Good food at a good price! I actually got both the hot dog and hamburger to try them both. The nostalgia is one of the best parts of the location, as it reminds you of an old style drive up burger joint where maybe in the past you got served by a waitress on skates. The uniqueness of this place gives it 5 stars as far as I am concerned. Sure it is can take awhile to get an order in, sure getting a seat inside can be real hard during any busy time. This place is very small with limited seating. Orders are taken at the counter. It could be on the show diners, drive ins and dives for its nostalgia feel. Fun fact: They only accept cash. The food was meh, it was ok. I opted for the root beer float and the chili sandwich (minus the dog). It wasn't painfully gross, but I wasn't impressed in the slightest way either. My root beer float was mostly ice cream. I prefer my floats to be about 50/50 ratio. The chili sandwich had the perfect ratio from sauce to bun. Stopped in this local classic for lunch. Being told by "regulars" that I had to try both the coney and the burgers, I opted for a 6" cheese coney, and a double cheeseburger. Without saying, I had to try a Root Beer as well. Lol. The cheese coney was awesome! Coney sauce was delicious, and proportioned properly to the dog.
