We were just going to try a couple empanadas, but the choices made fools of both of us...I won't say if we DID, or if we DIDN'T....but a person could literally sit in this cozy, friendly space and try all ten flavors of the most incredibly crispy, and lovingly filled tasty little Argentinian pastries. A few of our favorites were the mushroom feta and mozzarella, the Chicken Salsa Verde, the Carne (like a traditional flavor but SOO MUCH MORE filling and perfectly seasoned!), one I really tried to think I would not like was their "Buffalo Chicken"- it was cheesy and so darn good I ate two! Been a while since I've been back here and was craving some light bites. Came here after a wine tasting on a Friday with a friend and we sat at the bar since we did not have reservations. I ordered the mushroom and feta empanada and the jerk chicken empanada along with some chorizo mac & cheese. I have to say the chorizo Mac was a bit heavy and extremely cheesy with barely any chorizo flavor. Luckily, I had some chimichurri left over from the empanadas and added it to the Mac to spice it up a bit And tone down some of the cheesiness. The empanadas were delicious as usual the mushroom and feta one was my favorite because the mushroom has so much flavor. The jerk chicken was a little bland inside, but with the chimichurri sauce is delicious, that's where all the flavor comes. Overall, the empanadas are always great And I enjoy coming here when I'm craving some Latin flair. We were at the bar so our service was pretty quick since the bartender was taking our drink and food orders. The food came out at a reasonable time. The place is a little tight with people moving around and just a one-way entry lane behind the bar in between the tables. However, it is nice that we were still able to get seated right away without a reservation or long wait so if you make a last-minute decision to pop in, you are likely to get seated. It was busy for a Friday, but the bar space can hold around eight or so. Definitely worth checking out Ché if you've never been. read more

Here in a Saturday evening, it was rainy and the place was pretty dead. It's a small spot, made like an old shotgun home. Service was ok. He was attentive and suggestive, but very monotone lol. Probably bored. We ordered the meal for two, the guacamole appetizer, and three more empanadas. I love the potatoes, they are perfectly crispy! Steak needs more salt, but was ok. Wouldn't order again. The chorizo was nothing to write home about. Chicken cooked perfectly and was really good. I had never had heart of palm, so I was pleasantly surprised by the salad. It was nice and fresh. Guac was good and chips made well. Not thin also not too thick and hard like some other restaurants. The empanadas: brisket was the best and very good, the chicken verde was also good, in third place was the espinaca (cheesy spinach) which was very cheesy! The asada was just meh. Husband and I love trying out new cuisine so took advantage of seeing this Argentinian place on a trip to Cincinnati. Looked up both the classic Argentinian foods are and we're happy to see that they had a lot of them on the menu. Vibe of the place was absolutely lovely. So aesthetic; Especially the seating in the back side with the wooden panel and the lights and all of that stuff. As for the food, this was really delicious. Fugazzeta - It was like a cheese stuffed flatbread pizza kind of a thing and just phenomenal. Literally oozing with cheese inside and outside and still had the perfect balance of cheese and bread. I love classic cheese pizza with some chili flakes and this is perfect with the chili flakes on top. Quite a big potions size as well so we ended up taking most of it to go and reheating it the next day but no issues because those were great as well. Really good variety of empanada options and it was hard to pick. Pick ended up getting the Short Rib and Salsa Verde Chicken (since I was trying to be a little healthy and get a leaner meat that wasn't fried). That short rib empanada was unbelievable! Crispy flaky crust and very delicious meat on the inside. The chicken one was just subpar so I wouldn't recommend it. Also got the Chioripan - This is another traditional dish which is basically like a hot dog. Kind of a bun with a local sausage and some chimichurri and other good stuff inside. I know that the sausage can be quite high in fat, but overall this was a really, really delicious sandwich! I ended up removing most of the chimichurri but it was phenomenal just the same. I've had Ché a few times at their food truck for campus events at my school. They always arrive on time and are ready to start serving when they are slotted to. The times I have had it they usually have pretty simple empanadas, cheese and two options of meat, usually chicken and beef. I have gotten the cheese empanada both times I have gotten it because it is just that good! It is so warm and gooey, the cheese is flavorful and the empanada itself is perfectly cooked. I seriously could eat a dozen of them. They are also super nice when ordering and get the order out very quickly, especially when they are serving a bunch of hungry college kids. Anytime they are on campus I flock to their food truck to try it. read more

I went to Che on a Saturday early evening at 5:15. We had reservations. We were going before a 7:30 show. One reason we went is because they advertise happy hour seven days a week on their website and Facebook page. When we sat down and asked for drinks, we were told they no longer have HH on the weekend. I have gone to Che one other time and loved it. This time was a disappointment. The empanadas were fried. Along with the tater tots and the cheesy flatbread, which came late with our meal instead of as an appetizer, and the fried red potatoes, it was just too greasy overall. I thought Argentinian empanadas were baked. I contacted the restaurant through their contact form and was responded to by Jane P. She said the happy hour was only Monday through Thursday and they would take that information down off their Facebook page. They currently have a new FB post up giving the correct hours, but the old posts (for example from June 1) advertising a seven day a week happy hour are still up on their Facebook page and is advertised on their website (see screenshot from today). Others may not care, butI think this a issue because many of us who visit are expecting what is advertised on the website. In our case, we couldn't leave and go to another place because we had a later show... it's been two weeks since I contacted her and they have not corrected their media. Che was solid this time around! Last time I came here, I ended up getting sick afterward--and I'm not saying it was their food (we had some vegan ice cream later that day, so who knows). But it kind of scared me off for a while. After some time passed (and I stopped blaming them in my head), I decided to give it another shot. Glad I did. The empanadas were on point--crispy, flavorful, and hot like they were fresh out the fryer. The ones in the pics? Just as good as they look. That chimichurri sauce? A real MVP. Added the perfect kick. We pulled up right at 4PM when they opened, so we were basically the first ones in. The service was friendly and attentive--our server checked in with us without being overbearing. Inside, it's a little dark vibe-wise, but not so dark you can't see your food (which is important when your food actually looks good). It's definitely a chill little spot to grab some empanadas, and I'm happy to report--I did not get sick this time. So maybe it really was the sketchy vegan ice cream after all. We sat on the back patio which was lovely. Service was the only downside of our visit. We had a brunch reservation on a Saturday at noon. I think there were maybe only 2 people working the entire restaurant. Each doubling as the bartender and the other as a host. They were spread entirely too thin, which led to us being there for almost 2 hours simply from waiting to order and waiting on our check. Additionally, some of our items never arrived to the table. The staff was nice but they needed help. My recommendation to the business would be to bring on more people for expected peak times. We would return! read more

It's a relatively small space but it's lively and comfortable. We got a smattering of empanadas, one app, and 2 hand held sandwiches to share. I'll be the first to admit I'm not a huge empanadas guy but these were quite good. The dough was flaky and crunchy and delicious. They have lots of different filling options and I'd like to go back and try the rest. The handhelds were pretty good too, but I think the focus is the empanadas. I guess they aren't called the empanada OGs without reason. My husband, daughters, and I visited on a Friday evening and tried their steak frites with blackened Argentine shrimp and three empanadas. The 6 ounce skirt steak was tender and it came with a side of fries, chimi guacamole, red chimi cream, and salsa criolla. Everything tied in well although the fries were a tad too salty for my preferences. It could've wonderfully tied in with some of drinks however, neither my husband nor I drink. This place had amazing empanadas. It was hard to give Ché a rating because the appetizers were great but the entrees were just ok. The steak for the steak frites was kind of chewy and wasnt a great cut of meat. Fries were ok. I ate them. I also had the steak and shrimp tacos. Wasnt bad but I also wasnt blown away. The mac and cheese was very interesting in terms of the flavors and I loved it but is very different from normal mac and cheese. I would definitely come back for the empanadas but the entrees were not my favorite. This place really deserves 3.5 stars at least. read more

I'm sorry it took me so long to review this place. We came for a dinner months ago and thoroughly enjoyed every bit of it! It was an expensive dinner but still really worth it with all sorts of good food especially the meat. We started coming here for brunch every now and then. We would always make a reservation but it was never usually that busy even on weekends. I brought the in-laws here recently and they also thoroughly enjoyed it! We usually get the pot roast breakfast or the breakfast tacos or one of the breakfast salads. Always good to get an empanada that goes with it. I wish I could remember exactly what they were called but that's the gist of what we usually get. Steak and eggs is also a favorite. We are never disappointed! Food is always good and high quality. Brunch prices are also pretty fair. Ambience is friendly and our waitress near the bar was great. The most delicious empanadas that I have ever had the pleasure of eating. The short rib empanada in particular had the most crispy and delicious exterior, filled with slow-roasted beef and savory veggies. We also enjoyed the steak and chicken platter for two, with its juicy and tender meats, crispy potatoes, and colorful salad. Our only gripe is that the palm salad that accompanied the dish left much to be desired--there were more grape tomatoes than palms of hearts and the overall flavor did not mesh well with the meal's main components. Made the mistake of showing up on a night when a soccer match was happening. The food is very sports bar oriented. The theme is Argentine but don't expect to be served authentic ethnic food. The small kitchen was struggling to keep up with the orders. However, we were treated well by the waitstaff. I do think Che deserves a second visit. read more

Wow! A hidden Cincinnati gem with genuine nods to Argentina. I've been all over the world but I've never had crispy boi empanadas like this. JAMES was the best server - he was so friendly to out-of-towners and joking with us - we didn't even want to leave! Cozy feel, but plenty of space and we were able to reserve a seat on a Saturday night on the same day. Even the chips had amazing seasoning on them... highly recommend the Buffalo chicken nontraditional empanada as well as the Short Rib and Salsa Verde. They use a particular fundido cheese throughout most of their dishes including the Mac. Slight spice but very creamy/spicy. Our entire table ordered multiples of the sauces. Stepped into Ché with high expectation -- you're invited with the open kitchen running on your right and walk into a cozy dining atmosphere with a relaxed vibe. There's a bar on the far end of the restaurant with TVs mounted to the wall. You walk past other diners enjoying glasses of wine. But unfortunately, the overall dining experience was a 3.5/5. Started off with a glass of sparkling rosé and a mocktail (poqutio brilliante). The wine was unfortunately served flat since most of the carbonation was gone. Mocktail was great, refreshing and sweet. For mains, we elected for the parrilladas since we wanted to try a lot of different items on the menu. First with the good. The empanadas were delicious! We got the Korean BBQ and short rib -- both came out hot, well seasoned, and crispy. Now for the disappointment. All the other items on the plate came out lukewarm-cold. Tasted like they have been sitting out for some time. Especially for $59, the plate should have some steam coming off the meats. If they come out sizzling even better. But alas they came out on a bed of cold fries. Pictures turned out great, but food was a letdown. Service was fantastic -- server came to check on us regularly. I guess we could have sent our food back to have it reheated, but didn't want to stir the pot since this was a birthday dinner. Overall, experience was okay. Would I come back? Probably to get some empanadas to go, but other than that, might need to give this place a second chance before making a final decision. read more

Came during Cincy's Restaurant week so I got the specials. Were able to sit outside during the last few weeks of summer. Service was good, our server was definitely under the influence of something... but he nailed our orders so no complaints! Started with the charred romaine, it was decent, but got to try the burrata which was the better choice. Then got a korean beef empanada. This was fantastic, perfectly crispy and light pastry filled with tender marinated beef. There is a reason that is what this restaurant is known for these. Finished off with a trio of tacos. They were okay, but if you can make a meal of the empanadas, I recommend doing that! Oh, and a decent drink (and NA drink) menu! read more
