We came for a family birthday. I love the decor and the wait staff is really nice and helpful when you have questions about the menu. We got the birria quesadilla and it was ok. The consommé wasn't what I was expecting. I feel like this place used to be better but it's my friends favorite place. I would come back for apps and drinks next time.

We hadn't visited in some time. In fact not since we moved out of the area. We had a party of four and ordered ta-pas for all. The food was delicious and was brought to the table in a very timly manner by very friendly staff. The ambiance has a Spanish vibe. The place is big with many rooms to accommodatie many. We ordered two jugs of Sangria, Red and Peach. Both were good. Everything is plated seperately making the small tables full of food and drink for four hard to navigatie. While we got a lot of food and two jugs of sangria the $300+ Bill before tip seemed high. Again, the food was delicious. It would have been more enjoyable if not so cramped.

We had a lot of fun at El Meson's Day of the Dead wine dinner! The sold out event was held in a private room and we were all seated at community tables of about ten people. Before each course, the owner of the restaurant spoke about the food course and the wine representative gave an overview of the wine that was paired with it. The whole meal was great! I had read on the menu that they sent out that the soup course was a pumpkin and beef soup, which sounded odd but was actually quite good! Dessert was a combo of chocolate cake and flan...I'm not a huge fan of flan but this was delicious! Special shout out to the staff! We are always impressed with how professional the waitstaff is here. Even the teenage workers are very friendly and efficient. Kudos to them and to whoever trains the staff...other restaurants could learn a few things from you!

A Dayton landmark, one of a kind, family owned and amazing. El Meson has it all, good food (Latin, not Mexican), character, family, service and history. From the different all 4 season patios (with bars) to the bar/dining room inside to the multiple other dining areas and private party rooms and a market with items to buy, el Meson feels like you stepped into something special. We were seated quickly (we did not have a reservation, but recommend it if you are going during the busy hours) and found a beautiful setting for us. The menu was full of all kind of good things, the shareable sounded incredible from calamari, empanadas, cheese puffs, fundido, sweet rum shrimp and many other goodies. Sweet corn, meson salad, chicken tortilla soup, buffalo cauliflower, serious this place has a very special and unique menu, remember this isn't a Mexican restaurant. From amazing beef like chimichurri steak to what I choose carne asada, fajitas, coconut crusted fish and they have paella too (I've gotta try that next time). The carne asada was good size, I'd say 12oz and was cooked (no fat on it at all) it came with chumichurri (Argentine pesto) and each bite was tender and had a great flavor. I did try the empanadas on the veggie plate and it was so good too and I don't like veggies. We had a nice visit by the owner and you can tell the care very much, all in all it's worth more than one visit. El Meson won't disappoint and I can't wait to go back and try their paella.

Tamale was light and flavorful and the guacamole was really interestingly spiced with a little "passion"

We had a wonderful dinner tonight attending a special event Day of the Dead meal. Five wines and five small plates were anything but small. The food was exceptional with a little history of the Day of Dead and very tasty Chilean wines. Overall a great evening with a little background of the holiday and some fun new wines to take home. The service was top notch and the staff did an excellent job getting out the food and wines in a gracious and speedy manner. The food was excellent and beautifully plated, overall an evening to remember

Always excellent! El Meson is a dining experience best knows for their tapas. Don't be fooled by the small plates - they're big on flavor! Make sure to sit on the patio.

Meet a friend here for drinks and dinner. It is a lovely place and so nice to dine out with friends again. Went with the intention to go with a margarita and the server told me about the flight of margaritas. Dont regret trying it but wouldnt do it again. The empanadas werent cooked enough so they weren't at all crispy and not as good as typical. But the company with friends made up for it. They were busy and just a bit off their game.

La Embajada La…read moreEmbajada is an Argentine Steakhouse, mobile kitchen and catering venture in Dayton, Ohio, that specializes in Argentinean, Italian and Spanish cuisine - nearly fine dining. We arranged to arrive ten minutes early in order to converse with Mónica Fabregat. Well worth the planning and effort. Mónica was delighted to learn that we have visited Argentina and experienced the people, cuisine, beauty, and various wineries. I had to ask Monica if she had visited Bariloche. Bariloche is located in the foothills of the Patagonian Andes on the southern shore of Nahuel Huapi Lake, near the border with Chile. Aspen, Colorado, is the most frequent U.S. city comparison for Bariloche due to its shared identity as a premier, upscale mountain resort destination. Both cities are famous for high-end skiing, luxury lodges, and a sophisticated, "ritzy" atmosphere that attracts wealthy international travelers. Beyond Aspen, Bariloche is often compared to other U.S. mountain and outdoor-centric locations for different reasons. Monica explained that "Argentine cuisine is primarily the union of food from our two biggest immigrant populations, Spain and Italy," Throughout the menu, Spanish and Italian influences are easy to spot, from espresso, pastas and flatbreads to empanadas, Argentine sausages and chorizos. La Embajada is a small, nicely decorated, pleasant restaurant - Qualifies as a Date Night with your wife, and my wife greatly approves. Service is excellent. YELP is always a must consult for us, and folks have consistent posted 5 Star reviews. We always take care to download the menu prior to dining. The Dictator Steak caught my eye the previous night, and I asked Monica which steak she recommends. Her reply was the Dictator Steak - a 30 day aged Ribeye. Difficult to find a 30 day aged Ribeye in the Dayton market. Monica then offered a nice Cabernet Sauvignon; I immediately declined and Monica smiled - she then offered a Malbec. Sorry, I forget the label, but very often we order a Malbec rather than a Cabernet Sauvignon. The single flaw (not the restaurant's doing) was the appearance of 14 young parents and very young children without reservations.... Folks do some minimal research - No one suddenly appears at an upscale restaurant in a group this size without reservations. During our three week Overseas Adventure Travel visit, we experienced a winery every day, and we came to favor Malbec. Malbec is a dark, full-bodied red wine grape known for its deep color and rich, fruity flavors like plum and blackberry, with notes of vanilla, cocoa, and tobacco, especially when aged in oak. Originally from France, where it's a key Bordeaux blending grape, it has become the signature grape of Argentina, thriving in high-altitude vineyards and producing wines with soft tannins and balanced acidity, making it a classic pairing for grilled meats like steak. My wife specified the Mixed Grill and the Seafood Bowl; Paella-style rice with shrimp, mussels, calamari and octopus. Of course, our plan was to enjoy "leftovers" at home, and we did. I observed to Monica that often in Buenos Aires steak restaurants place a live fire BBQ with steak in the front window; she knew about this and replied this would violate fire code in US. She observed these were higher priced restaurants for tourist, and I agreed. I found in Buenos Aires, by walking a few blocks, a similar menu was available for 50% less. Caveat: Go to La Embajada as soon as possible and do visit Bariloche when in Argentina.

There were only 3 of us, so we figured ordering a few plates would suffice... except when our server told us we would need way more. We were a bit surprised to be told that everything basically came in twos or was a very small portion! (Confusing because when I think family style I think BIG plates) This is a TAPAS place... family style but small appetizers and drinks style restaurant!! So you probably won't leave here full!! The server was kind and very knowledgeable! She gave us plenty of time to pick and choose! We decided on bread w/ oil & salsa ($11), guac & tostones ($13), ceviche of the day ($22), 2 chicken skewers ($19), 2 pork belly tacos ($16), & 3 beef empanadas ($22.5) I will say all of the food was PHENOMENAL... chicken skewers were perfect (might be spicy for some), ceviche (red snapper our day) was my favorite... just a super small portion for $22, empanadas were perfect, and the oils and bread was top notch!! Seriously have nothing bad to say about the food (BRAVO Chef Jose Salazar.... You really know how to do your thing!!!!) I loved it and really enjoyed my time, but if you're looking for a fancy, cute, SMALL dinner vibe - this would be the jackpot find! Or even a drink/apps before a bigger dinner date. (But if you're looking for a traditional large family style meal, I wouldn't go here) Our bill ended up over $150, but when divided it was really only around $55 each!! Not too bad for a fun fancy meal! I would love to come here again and try more, especially knowing the menu has lots of daily rotations (ex. The ceviche) Thank you again for a lovely experience!!!

The omelette was cooked perfectly as well. Service was outstanding from the moment we walked in.
