Michelin quality experience. My guests and myself made a reservation to enjoy the Chef's Tasting Menu tonight (7 courses). We were celebrating an anniversary and found a wonderful, handwritten note on the table upon arrival. How special! Our servers, Wes & Caleb, took exceptional care of us. Knowledgable, kind, and friendly. The chef, Patrick, even popped out of the kitchen to say hello. Kudos to the extremely talented kitchen staff that cooked our meal tonight. I have no doubt those young people have worked very hard to develop such excellence. Never in my life have a tasted desserts so light, balanced, and delicious. My favorite item of the night was the "Tea Service" dessert. At the end of meal, we were given a brief tour of the entire restaurant. Every detail of the space has been considered and selected with intention. Everything is gorgeous! The mirrors, chandeliers, wood paneling, lighting, chairs. Truly the wow factor. Please get into Resonant at your earliest availability. This is a once in a lifetime kind of meal. read more

As a Dayton native, we were very excited to hear about a new, interesting, upscale restaurant. There was valet parking, and our table was delayed by about fifteen minutes so they called beforehand to let us know. We really appreciated it. All of the staff was wonderful, very kind and attentive. There was even a hand-written note on the table when we sat down. We each had the 4 course prix fix menu. The dishes incorporated interesting elements, but there was not one that was mind blowing. Usually, I remember certain dishes for their exquisite taste, and I that didn't happen. The food was alright, just not what I would have expected for a 85 dollar meal per person (before drinks and additions). The flavor combinations were interesting, but not absolutely delicious. The fresh bread and stuffed quail was good though. The presentation was wonderful, and the interior was beautiful. We were also impressed by all of the additional little bites and treats. Overall, we had a nice night and enjoyed the experience since we love to support local restaurants. read more

We were very excited to hear of Resonant's opening, especially since our favorite Dayton upscale restaurant closed a year ago. We often drive to Cincinnati to dinner because they have a more vibrant restaurant scene. Right from the start, we were greeted warmly. I'm on a walking boot and when the hostess saw us coming up the walk she came out to open both doors for me. We ordered drinks and started chatting so didn't realize how long it had been but our server came out with glasses and sparkling wine to apologize for the long wait for our cocktails. Later in the evening, we noticed other tables were getting free drinks with apologies for the wait. The only options for dining at Resonant is a 4-course prix fixe meal or the chef's tasting menu, which has several other courses. Our table opted for the 4 course. I had looked at the menu online and the dish I was looking forward to was a peach appetizer, which most of our table ordered. Unfortunately, it was a miss; everyone agreed that it didn't have much peach flavor at all. Starting off with a so-so dish had me concerned the rest of the dishes would follow suit, but all the dishes that followed were delicious! The stuffed quail and sticky toffee soufflé were two of my favorites. With 1-2 drinks per person, our bill came out to $150 per person, including a 20% tip, which is frankly outlandish for Dayton Ohio. In comparison, a few months ago while in Austin Texas, we went to two high-end restaurants (one a Michelin star and James Beard finalist, the other featured in Food & Wine Magazine) and those bills came to $80 per person. Unfortunately I don't think that high price point is sustainable in Dayton. It's a beautiful restaurant and the food is inventive but at $300 a couple, I don't think we'll be returning unless they change their concept. read more

Incredible 7 course chefs tasting menu! I had the vegetarian and my partner had the regular. Both were insanely good, but we agreed that the vegetarian dishes just blew everything out of the water! Loved the creative cocktails and they had a delicious wine selection as well. Give yourself time to enjoy everything and make a night of it! Loved the look of the restaurant, and the vibe was so relaxing and high end. I will definitely be back for special occasions! read more

The restaurant was almost full on a Wednesday night although there was virtually no one at the bar. The servers were excellent and very pleasant and capable. The restaurant is nicely decorated. However, I believe they should expand their menu to include a la carte items instead of only offering a four or seven course tasting menu. Each of the minuscule tasting menu courses clearly required a lot of preparation effort. I didn't find them that tasty or worth the price. Our dinner of four courses for everyone for four people was $600 with only two people having the wine pairing. We have enjoyed several enjoyable lunches at their sister restaurant, Grist. I think they should include some of the delicious Grist menu items at this new restaurant. We won't be returning unless there is a significant revision to their menu offerings. read more

First time in this new restaurant we opted for the four course dinner, the place looks amazing and they have completely renovated the location. Very nice feel with a great bar area and roomy dining room. The food options were varied and interesting. I started with the peach truck peaches which were interesting, but frankly lacked peach flavor. Second course was the exploding corn ravioli which was delicious and very different. Third course I had the quail which was highlight of the meal. The sauces were perfectly paired. Finishing with the sticky toffee soufflé which was perfect balance of light texture and sweet sauces. Overall a very solid meal. Service had a few issues the drinks while very imaginative were very slow to arrive. We were offered a sparkling wine while we waited, which was appreciated. Service of the courses was a bit confused as the wait staff attempted to simultaneously serve all five of us. Obviously a work in progress but the place is still very new. A very nice surprise was the free valet and the cars were at the curb as we walked out the door. Very nice touch! We will be back and highly recommend giving them a try read more

the ambiance is relaxing but elegant. the waitstaff is very attentive but not imposing. The food is excellent. highlights were the caviar first course. the risotto and corn ravioli second course. all of the thirds were delicious with the quail as the standout. the deserts were equally elegant and the mango mango mango was the unexpected delight. Resonates with me! Just walked in on one of their first nights, properly greeted and sat in the lounge. Super chic and comfy lounge space. No food service at the bar, that's ok I get it, but I do like to eat at the bar. Started with a Negroni, perfectly mixed. Four course prix fixe in the lounge, seven course tasting menu in the dining room. I had the Sea Bream Crudo to start, umami heaven, a crispy carrot sugar brûlée on top - loved it. Exploding corn ravioli next - I mean everything I ate was fantastic, but this might have been the best. A charred leek Italian soup dumpling with a slice of black truffle on top. What ever was in that sauce was a kiss from the rose on the grave. I wanted five more; absolutely divine. The Sea Scallop entree was lovely. Sherry and chorizo accompaniment, the lentils were an unusual pairing with regard to texture but the flavor was spot on. Perfect vodka martini, strawberry rhubarb ice cream , oh the freshly baked bread and herbed butter! Service was great, chef came to say hi and check in. They even brought me an extra item as a thank you - Crispy Octopus was tender and flavorful. Decor and bathrooms hip and cozy. Thank you thank you Resonant! Resonant is awesome and such a great addition to Dayton! This is essentially the only place to get a fine dining tasting menu experience in the area. I was already quite impressed with the menu and execution of all the dishes, and I imagine they will only get better with time and experience. Wine pairings and sommelier knowledge was top notch, definitely the best piece of steak at any restaurant in Dayton, and everything was just flavorful and unique. I've had a lot of Michelin starred fine dining in NYC, California and I'm so glad we have something like this right at home, and I was definitely so happy with the food and service. read more
