My girlfriend and I came to this restaurant for Thanksgiving. It's a rooftop restaurant in an AC Marriott hotel. There were a few options for thanksgiving including some pizzas and salmon. My girlfriend opted for the glazed salmon which came with rice and asparagus but she substituted the asparagus with mashed potatoes. I had their Thanksgiving fare which included turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, green beans. We ordered the Avocado Deviled Eggs for an appetizer. The Avocado Deviled Eggs were delicious, slightly tart, and had a salsa flavor. We really liked them. My girlfriend really liked her salmon. The portion was a really nice size. My thanksgiving meal was delicious. The turkey was really good, mashed potatoes were nice and creamy, and the green beans were cooked just right. Green beans a lot of times have a tendency to be overcooked where they are a little soggy or undercooked where they are too raw. These were cooked just right. The stuffing was good but a little dry. But I'm not really a stuffing guy. For dessert I had the tiramisu which was in small jar topped with some strawberries! It was also and a great way to end the meal. My girlfriend had the Dark Chocolate Terrine. She said it was dense and rich in chocolate flavor. We did check out the outdoor area after we ate. This would be a really nice place to eat outside in the spring or summer. There was an igloo-style structure you could eat in during colder months. I giving this establishment five stars. We had a 3:30 pm reservation, arrived at 3:00 pm and were immediately seated. Our waiter was very attentive and friendly and the food was really good. It's a trendy restaurant with clean restrooms and this would be an ideal place to eat at with friends and family. It has a casual vibe, not overly classy but still special. The Foundry Rooftop is the restaurant at the AC hotel. I decided to try it after a long day of travel from the west coast. The Foundry stays open late (food til 10 pm) so it was a great option. I sat at the bar and had the following: -Bbq short rib (3.5/5; pretty tasty. Short rib was tender and bbq sauce had a nice kick. The rice wasn't cooked properly so it was hard. I wanted to like this dish more...I think the traditional pairing of short rib w mashed potatoes would have been better) -Deviled eggs (3/5; these are mixed w avocado which makes them unique. Unfortunately, the flavor was lacking and needed some spice (Dijon, salt, pickles?) I wouldn't get these again -Oaxacan old fashioned (5/5; this old fashioned was made with tequila and mezcal and a flamed orange peel. I stayed at the AC hotel for business this week, and had a chance to go to the Foundry for dinner. The dining room is open and bright with a lively, fun atmosphere. Our server, Kylie, took great care of us and she was very knowledgeable about the drinks and the menu items. The cocktails are strong and tasty, and the food was outstanding. The menu changes regularly here. The feta appetizer was served with fresh veggies and warm crispy pita bread and it was all delicious. I loved the creamy bucatini dish, pasta perfectly al dente with an amazing rich sauce and shrimp that popped. My colleague had the steak with potatoes and green beans, also prepared perfectly medium rare. We had the tiramisu for dessert, which was a lovely way to end the meal. Great experience at The Foundry! Let's start with the vibe, this is a rooftop restaurant/bar on top of a Marriott downtown Dayton. The bar is indoor/outdoor, and the view is beautiful. The Dayton Dragons stadium is one way and downtown is the other. Everything about the set up is cool. The service was fine. There were three bartenders, but they don't work as a collective, they walk the whole bar but do not address you unless you are their customer. That was frustrating. Drinks and food came quick, bill took a bit. We shared a few apps: hummus, bar snacks and deviled eggs. All were excellent. The apps were fairly priced, the rest of the menu seems expensive, just be prepared. Seems like they may be known for pizzas as there is a full time pizza chef cooking at the front of the restaurant with a wood fire oven. That was a fun talking point. We were there at 8pm on a Thursday, it was still packed with families, groups, singles, professionals, baseball kids, young 20 somethings, older groups, everyone. I loved every moment of this dining experience! Well actually, did not love the parking lot app download hassle, but got through it and had a great cocktail to ease the pain. We took the one stop elevator and were greeted warmly and seated quickly. I ordered the Last Word, a tangy and very slightly sweet gin concoction and my husband enjoyed a glass of the Red Blend. The waitstaff were attired in simple uniforms, all looking well groomed, very polite and attentive and able to answer questions. Walls of windows surround you and the outdoor deck looked really cool. Sadly it was much too chilly to go out there...but we are looking forward to it another time. Mile high industrial look ceilings have noise canceling insulation so although the place got full up, it was not overly loud. Loved the hanging lighting. It's a modern yet classic atmosphere. Happy to see many guests well dressed, appropriately for a fine restaurant. The chef must be a mad genius. Talk about an eclectic menu. Something here for everyone's taste in a range of price points. Some of the entrees are $$$ and absolutely worth it. We started with the Rhode Island calamari which was excellent and perfectly prepared, with plenty of tentacles and flaming hot cherry peppers to spice it up. I have not had this dish for a long time and was quite impressed. The food presentation was artwork. The short ribs just melted under your fork and the scallops were large, sweet and tender. The green pea puree, yeah! The flavor blends were marvelous. We pulled out all the stops and got dessert too. Strawberry lemon pound cake served like a parfait. It was a generous delectable dessert and just right for sharing with a piece of amazing candied lemon on top. Make a reservation, and if you plan on the lot give yourself about 10 minutes to accomplish paying for a parking spot, for which you must have a smartphone with QR code capability. The food was ok, a little disappointed personally with the hollandaise... like they didn't put enough. Personally the food didn't taste good to me for brunch, it was bland. I saw everyone else order pizza and burgers so no breakfast... maybe that's where we messed up. The views from the locations are amazing, you can see then Dayton dragons stadium! Really cool area in the water street district in downtown Dayton. Highly recommend reservations. It was a beautiful night but was not able to grab an outside table. I was told I had to note I wanted outside seating in my reservation, which I was unaware of but will remember for next time. We were able to go take a peak outside and the views of the baseball field and surrounding are amazing. The restaurant has a cool, modern, warehouse look inside. The bar area is beautiful. Our server was wonderful all night. She was able to answer our questions and provide recommendations. She took great care of us. The food was good. It was pretty heavy on the garlic but was tasty. Loved my frozen cocktail but hated the paper straw. Ice kept getting stuck in the straw and made it difficult to drink. Be prepared for a pricey meal but it's a pretty happening area to hang out downtown. read more

I ordered the cherry pork belly dish, served with perfectly cooked plantains, flavorful rice, and beans. Went to The Foundry for a cute rooftop dinner and the food was okay! The smoked burrata toast was not was I was expecting but yummy. The nutty mushroom pizza was also good but a bit sub par. As for dessert? We wanted to order the tiramisu and was told they were out. We saw a table get served the tiramisu close to when we got our dessert so it was disappointing. We ended up ordering the chocolate bundt cake and it was extremely subpar. The cake was okay and the chocolate chips felt cheap. Plus it had the smallest ice cream scoop I've ever seen! We ordered a bottle of wine which was good but the service took so long. I sat for ~20 minutes before someone came to take my order and we had to wait for 10-15 minutes for an ice bucket. We also had to wait so long for someone to come take our dessert order. Over all, the food was subpar, I wouldn't come here again. read more

First time visiting this restaurant. The venue itself is pretty cool. Open layout, nicely decorated. Not too loud. When we were seated, it took 20 minutes for our waiter to come to our table. The food came out sporadically, so I was waiting another 10 minutes after my husband got his meal until I got mine. We then had to wait another 20 minutes to try to get any one's attention to pay our bill, as our waiter kept going to other tables, or cleaning empty ones. So we got the attention of someone cleaning the floors, and she was nice enough to help us. Our waiter just didn't seem to want to be there. I went to the foundry last night which was on a Thursday. This was supposed to be a date night for my husband and I. 1. No one was at the front to get us a table waited for 15 minutes at the front for a person , nothing. 2. My husband insisted that we just sit at the bar, I hesitated because I am almost two years sober. 3. So I felt uncomfortable, my husband noticed a table away from the bar. So we asked to sit there instead. The bartender said that was fine. 4. Then we were looking at the menu, it is nothing like the online menu. 5. So while trying to give this place a chance, the whole staff was yelling right beside quite literally right beside our table, rude to talk about situations out in front where customers are, especially when it involves the police and customers. (Very Unprofessional) 6. Food comes and the burger fell a part into pieces was not a good patty as to why it was falling apart, greasy, too much onions. Ruined the food. Had to eat my burger with a fork, because the whole burger was falling apart. Serving staff is extremely efficient, I was impressed by how well equipped they were for a last minute large group. Drink orders were filled quickly and refills were also easy to come by. This rooftop bar is located right across from the Dayton Dragon's stadium, atop the AC hotel. We stopped by for a drink and it was pretty popping. The bar is pretty massive with both an indoor and an outdoor side. They have a ton of indoor seating, and some outdoor on the wrap around patio as well. If you pick the right spot, you can get a glimpse of the Dayton Dragon's game if they're playing. The bartenders we met were super nice. We tried an espresso martini and it was pretty good. Albeit, be ready to pay a premium for the rooftop experience. They have a wood fired oven and it seemed like most people were trying the pizza. If we come back, we'll give the pizza a try. read more

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think this is Dayton's only rooftop bar. And you know I love a rooftop bar. It was crowded...when we got there they asked if we had a reservation and I was afraid we would be turned away. I answered "we're staying in the hotel" so they welcome us in! Thet did say there might not be in seating, but we were lucky to find a seat anyway. Our waitress is so cute and gets our orders ASAP. Drinks were delish, and the view of the ballpark nice. Of course it would be better if there was a game going on, but then we probably couldn't have gotten in even staying here. I love that my former home town is really getting it on these days.
