I really like the atmosphere of this restaurant and can imagine it would be even better in the summer so you could fully enjoy the patio. They have the igloos you can reserve outside but our party was in the main dining area which was nice. The pizza was very good. My favorite was the mushroom and all of the others we tried were great. Drinks are a bit pricy but that's to be expected downtown. Will be back soon! read more

Ambience was topnotch, service was excellent, and food was first level. The volume of food was nuts, and I would definitely order differently next time, as in requesting the kitchen edit the amounts being sent out to the dining room. Strange complaint, right ? Seriously. I have never been served such a humongous pile of scrambled eggs on a single brunch plate. The menu indicated two eggs were included with the waffles. I wish I could have seen the size of those eggs prior to cooking. read more

Great cocktails, even better service! The girl with the purple hair and Jackson mixed some great drinks for my friends and I late on a Saturday night. The drinks were balanced and quite strong, and they made sure we felt taken care of the whole night. 10/10 experience, and I will definitely be back the next time I'm in Dayton! read more

The Foundry Rooftop - The Last Word - Beer, Wine & Spirits Near Me - Dayton, Ohio

Industrial style open room setting located directly across from the Dragon's 5th3rd field. On nice days plenty of outdoor seating. American food is good, but not great-a little disappointing with Dayton needing more excellent restaurants. read more

We had reservations at The Foundry before going to see the Nutcracker. Great vibes and awesome cocktails! It was a unique experience for food. We got the forged burger and cheesesteak for entrees... it was good but different (the Foundry Roll were not your typical hoagie/burger bun). The wood fired pizza was great but I absolutely loved the Smoked Burrata Toast. I would recommend this place if you're in the area and have never been. read more

We had a 7:15 reservation. Three of our party of 4 arrived at this stunningly gorgeous dining area 10 minutes early, and we were seated right away. Hint - Make sure you take the elevator outside the hotel. You can't get there from the one in the lobby, which we tried at first and failed. Our drink orders were taken within seconds. I asked the waitress to recommend a sweet cocktail, and the quartz radiation did not disappoint. We had the avocado deviled eggs for our appetizer, yummmmmm!!!! You get exactly 4, which was perfect for us. I ordered the crispy pork belly, which was delish. I liked the rice, too, but I wasn't a fan of the potatoes. They don't bring bread before the meal here. I want to come back in the summer so that I can enjoy the patio and try some dessert. Reach out if you'd like to join me!!!! I'm not sure I'll be able to get my fiance to come back. He liked his 24 hour chicken but was a bit blindsided by the price tag, over $360 for 4. I think it was the $15 cocktails that added up. read more

The visit and atmosphere was great highly recommend the hot honey chicken pizza don't let the goat cheese scare you this was one of the best tasting and quality pizzas I have had by far and I've Ben to many states!!! My husbands family took us to the Foundry for the first time last night and we had a great time! The atmosphere was upscale and sleek while still being cozy. It was too cold to sit on the rooftop patio so we sat inside. We did go outside to look at the patio and it was super cool! There was a fireplace, tables, and a great view of the Dragons stadium. They also have igloos if you want to rent them for a group. Our waiter, Kenyan, was phenomenal! He was super attentive, friendly, and had great recommendations. We were between ordering the Nutty Mushroom pizza or the Loaded Potato pizza. He recommended the Nutty Mushroom and it was delicious! They make all their pizzas in a woodfire oven. We also ordered the ugly toast and some cocktails. All of the food and drinks were delicious! There is parking right in front and on the side streets. I thought there was lots of parking options for it being inside of an AC hotel. We will definitely be back and I highly recommend checking The Foundry out while in Dayton! read more

Food: the menu didnt have much to choose from. Portion size was small for the price. The taste was okay, have tasted better food for less money and in hotels restaurants. Service was normal. But our server was really nice as a person. But nothing special other than taking our order. The seating in general is not bad. I don't know, their menu and portions needs to be changed. read more

had a reservation set for 9 and we asked to all be seated together. ended up getting there and didn't get seated until 9:20 which is okay, however got sat with 2 different tables when that's NOT what we asked for. server was amazing the actual experience was just disappointing, esp for the price you pay. the poor hostess was who had to apologize. the manager NEVER came up and said anything. it was all a joke this is not my first time having a poor experience and i don't recommend read more

I went to the foundry last night which was on a Thursday. This was supposed to be a date night for my husband and I. 1. No one was at the front to get us a table waited for 15 minutes at the front for a person , nothing. 2. My husband insisted that we just sit at the bar, I hesitated because I am almost two years sober. 3. So I felt uncomfortable, my husband noticed a table away from the bar. So we asked to sit there instead. The bartender said that was fine. 4. Then we were looking at the menu, it is nothing like the online menu. 5. So while trying to give this place a chance, the whole staff was yelling right beside quite literally right beside our table, rude to talk about situations out in front where customers are, especially when it involves the police and customers. (Very Unprofessional) 6. Food comes and the burger fell a part into pieces was not a good patty as to why it was falling apart, greasy, too much onions. Ruined the food. Had to eat my burger with a fork, because the whole burger was falling apart. Will I ever go back to the foundry absolutely NOT, ultimately it ruined my whole date night, and this was my FIRST time ever eating at the foundry and the last, I do not recommend this place with over price bar food and unprofessional staff and management. read more

We visited for the first time as a party of five. The interior is nice, but we were seated at a table directly next to the hostess stand, which felt more like sitting in the lobby than in the dining area. Service was okay. Our waiter was kind, but the pace was slow, and a few items were forgotten before eventually being brought out. As for the food, we likely won't be returning. For the menu prices, the dishes were average at best. The highlights of the meal were the 24-hour chicken and the fried mozzarella. However, the crab cakes were dry, the avocado deviled eggs were bland, and the other entrées at our table were just mediocre. The drinks were good, but the desserts were forgettable. Given the amount our table spent, we could have enjoyed better quality at many other restaurants for half the price. Honestly, just wasn't our cup of tea. I'm sure the other members of our party will not be returning here either. read more

If I could give this place zero stars I would. I've tried this place 3 times and the first two times food was good but service was always so so slow. At least an hour wait for food after ordering and drinks take 30 Mins. Tonight my husband took me on a date without the baby for the first time in months...it was absolutely the worse night, in 1:30 mins we only got one drink and we were close to walking out but the food showed up so we were like fine let's stay, the food was awful, I got the crispy pork belly, I ate through it to not complain, my husband had the 24 hour chicken, he said it was good. But I knew mines was just off, the rice tasted like boil in a bag rice and the pork belly was just god awful, and here I am at 2:30am throwing up it all. Never go here! Please. I rather do my next date night at chick fil a. Waiter was nice. read more

Love this rooftop in downtown Dayton. The bar is beautiful. The atmosphere was relaxing. On a pleasant November night there were fire going and an iglooo on the rooftop. We chose to sit at the bar and still had a nice view. For drinks my husband had snd old fashioned and I had a drink with rose snd grapefruit. I thought the rose drink was a little sweet considering it was grapefruit, but both drinks were done nicely. For dinner we started with the charred meatballs which were moist and delicious. We also shared a pizza and a Brussel sprout salad. Very tasty and nicely presented. The bartender was friendly and efficient. We would absolutely recommend this place and look forward to returning. read more

Ate here last night with my boyfriend. We were super excited to try this place but were kind of let down by the service. The service was awful which made the experience not as great as we had hoped for. Once we arrived, we sat at our table for about 20-30 minutes (no water, nothing) until I asked someone where our waiter was. He politely explained that our waiter left for the night and we would be getting another waiter. OK, one mix up, I'll let that slide, but the service continued to get worse. We ordered an espresso martini, a Manhattan, and the meatballs for starters and they took forever, probably about another 20-30 to just get our drinks. Granted, it was busy, but no drink should take that long to take. Once we got our drinks, the meatballs took more time to cook even though our waiter said they would be out very shortly. That was when we started to get aggravated. Cocktails were fantastic though, the meatballs were just okay. I've had better. After the first course, we ordered the carnivorous pizza. That pizza came within a reasonable amount of time and was absolutely delicious. The pizza alone earns a few starts on my review. After we were finished dining, we waited some more for our check which took way too long. That was our final strike. I think our full dining experience took over an hour and a half and for the price of this place, I expect better service. Overall, good food but not a pleasant experience due to the service. The ambiance is fantastic though, I would probably come back just for drinks alone and sit out on the patio when the weather is nice again. The igloos look cool too. read more

We will try again. Our reserved table was right next to the door to the kitchen. Everyone seemed stressed.

We randomly picked this place as we were passing through Dayton. Road work caused some detours, but was still able to find a street spot relatively close. The rooftop was great except for the Dj speakers which were way too loud and distorting. We talked to a few staff and they finally turned it down a little bit. It was still too loud for dinner, but the DJ switched to jazz, so it wasn't as irritating. Service was spotty but overall, OK. Menu was limited, but the food was tasty. read more

Absolutely terrible! The place where they decided to seat us was like sitting in a cave it was so dark. Everyone had to set their phones on empty glasses with their flashlights on just to see what they were eating. The oversized booths were a pain to get and get out of. They definitely need to rethink this option. Maybe open at both ends instead of open at one end. The Food Got the flank steak and it was tough and cold when it was brought out. Not worth the money paid. Way over priced menu. The live entertainment was not that good either. To loud for conversations to be had. The waitress could not hear us and we could not hear her. Had to yell for her to take out orders. I guess they have to overcharge for the meals in order to compensate for the people not coming back for e revisit. I know we will not be back. Maybe if they had people who knew how to run a restaurant, then it could be better. No body even asked how things were. They probably already knew they sucked. read more

We finally got the chance to visit the Foundry. Unfortunately they were all booked for the outdoor dining but we however did get to experience the outdoor bar and the bar menu that was available. The ambiance of this location is quite stunning. It over looks the Dragons stadium and a portion of downtown Dayton. The seating areas were comfortable and very modern. It is a perfect location for the summertime cocktail gathering. We ordered several drinks from the bar. We started with Quartz Radiation and Tiki Makai. QUARTZ RADIATION: Skyy Vodka Infusions Strawberry, Leroux Blackberry Brandy, Pineapple Juice. The drink was pretty good but somewhat sweeter than expected. Tiki Makai consisted of Bacardi Dragonberry Rum, Coconut Water, Grenadine, Lime Juice. Pretty fruity and again a little sweeter than expected. Our next drinks were Purple Sky and Hugo Spritz. Purple sky consisted of Empress Gin, Italicus, Grapefruit Fever-Tree Tonic. Hugo Spritz consisted of Elderflower Liqueur, Sparkling Wine, Soda, Mint. . These drinks were refreshing but full of flavors and just the right amount of sweetness. Prices were in the higher range of $14-$15 per a drink but definitely worth the experience. Next, we ordered the Brussel Caesar Salad and the Margherita Pizza. The Margherita Pizza which consisted of heirloom cherry tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, basil, oregano. I am not a big fan of oven cooked pizza it was good but there was not enough cheese or heirloom tomatoes for $14.00. Next, we ordered the brussel sprouts caesar salad. The salad was ok not great. It was not the traditional Caesar Salad one would expect. The Caesar portion of the salad tasted like cabbage vs lettuce greens. Not sure there was even dressing on it as it was dry. It did come with real anchovies which tasted overly fishy and not so fresh. The Brussel sprouts were super undercooked and lacking in flavor. I was expecting this to be combined with a more robust twist on the dressing and execution of the salad. I would not recommend this salad based on flavors and fishy tasting anchovies. The service was great when we first entered the Foundry. They greeted us and informed us they were overbooked but that we could enjoy the outdoor seating area with a reduced menu selection. Unfortunately, when we got up to the bar the staff was not very friend and super in knowledgeable with the drink. It too them over 10 minutes to wait on us even though the bar was not super crowded than another 10 minutes for the drinks to be made. We proceeded to order food and one of bartenders snapped that they do not deliver food to the outskirts of the bar tables and that we would have come back to the bar to get it. Super unprofessional to say the least. Overall rated this place as average compared to other places in Cincy. I would recommend this place for cocktails and outdoor roof top gathering. I would not necessarily recommend this place for dinner based on what we received last night. read more

*** AVOID THIS PLACE *** Summary: if you want to be ignored, not be served for 20mins, terrible management, average tasting overpriced food, and take over 40 mins to get appetizer & over AN HOUR TO get your food. And hovered over to make sure you aren't dining & dashing. Definitely should come here!! My friend and I decided to come here, we were super excited to try this place out because of the good reviews and rooftop bar! The hostess was really nice and sat us outside. But little did we know that it would take 20 MINS to even get helped. There was one server who was not working out in the patio who realized every server outside was purposely avoiding us and not trying to take our order. She was very kind! Someone should promote or something, because even the manager did not care about our situation. After taking 20 mins for someone even to talk to us I walked over to the host stand to let them know what happened and to tell their manager about it. Of course the manager did not seem to care, did not come to apologize to us, did not comp any food for us, but instead decided to come outside and constantly walk by do random stuff outside to make sure we weren't going to dine and dash. We spent over 100$ for a dinner for 2, i don't know if they expected us to not have enough money to afford this place or something but they did not seem to care about their customers. Especially because when you check the reviews this has happened multiple times. The hostess & one server were more caring about our situation more than the manager. It's actually insane seeing how the manager did not seem to care about his customers. Overall would not come back here after the lack of service and the fact the food wasn't even that good to make up for the terrible service. read more

Had reservations but still had to wait a little. Not bad though. Searing is super tight in the main dining area. Lovely time of hearing the conversations next to us. Felt like I had to ask to be excused to get out of my seat we were so close. Server must have been newer but that is okay. He was nice just not super confident/comfortable yet. Music was a bit loud but it was a Saturday evening so I guess that is on us to think we were going out on a date night. Lots of kids and birthday parties. Not a negative just didn't realize there would be so many kiddos. We were there for a date away from our kids so wasn't expecting so many there. Food service is definitely funky. Ordered drinks. Took a little bit to get them but overall not bad. Just looking around we decided to go ahead and order everything at once. There were a lot of people waiting for food. Ordered avocado deviled eggs, a pizza, and the pork belly. Enjoyed our drinks but when we finished them we still didn't have food. Server said they were backed up but would be out soon. Pizza came out first. The server and we over heard the manager talking with another couple that the pizza is a separate kitchen from entree kitchen. They don't line up for service. We are most of the pizza and then the avocado deviled eggs came out. A little later the pork belly came out. All in all I think it took about 45 minutes to get the food. Taste: the drinks were delicious and creative. Good job there. I liked the avocado deviled eggs but was missing something. The pizza was okay. The peppers were the star of the pizza but didn't have enough. The chicken was not good. I think it must have been the kind of chicken pieces that you buy in the frozen section of a grocery store. It was bland and not good. I picked it mostly off. The pork belly was definitely not worth the wait. It was bland and tough. They gave us a butter knife to cut it so it was exceptionally hard to cut. The rice was the star of that dish. Overall, I can see the appeal for the bar. The drinks were great. Maybe if there is a next time we will try outside and just order drinks. read more

The atmosphere is very nice. I like the adult setting and the service was exceptional.

I met dear friends here for dinner while in town for business. We ordered the charcuterie board as an appetizer and loved it! For dinner, I went with the Steak Poutine. So glad I did: cooled to perfection and tasty as hell! Service was not good, though. Once we were all seated, it took the waitress 15 minutes to even arrive and take our drink order. After that, she was sparsely seen. I actually had to ask another waitress for another beer. Furthermore, the restaurant brought in live musicians. While they were good, the music was too loud for the space allowed, thus making dinnertime comversation very difficult. All things considered, I would still give the Foundry one more chance as the good was excellent. read more

Good food with glacially slow service. If the server would have come over I'd have added another cocktail and dessert. I gave up!

I went to the Foundry on a Saturday night. We had a reservation and I would recommend one on the weekends because they were turning people away that didn't have one. The ambiance was very modern and it was an open setting. Large bar area, high top tables and regular tables. They had a fun cocktail menu and our server was excellent at recommending drinks and dinner. My friends went with the wood fired pizza which I tried and it was very good! I ordered the 24-hour chicken. It was chicken in a light sauce with peas and carrots and a mushroom risotto. It was superb! The chicken was tender, hot and juicy and the mushroom risotto was cooked perfectly! The only reason I am giving them 4 out of 5 stars is because our friends pizzas came out about 15 minutes before my husbands and my meal came out. Our bill was around $90 and I think what they charge for the quality of food is fair, but if you're going to charge that then you should be sure your entire tables food comes out together. The rooftop area overlooking the dragons stadium is a fun plus! read more

My wife and I had made a reservation for 8:15 on a Friday night. We were seated at a high top table in the hall that served as an extended entrance way into the main dining area. This left us secluded from others, but it was far from private. Not the best seating, but we didn't complain. The staff was friendly but the food service was ridiculously slow. We ordered the hummus and both had the Chipotle Cherry Salmon which was perfection. We were seated when we arrived, but it took two hours from seated to paying the bill for an appetizer, entrees & dessert. We would love to return, but not on a weekend. The wait between seated to getting a glass of water was at least 10 mins. The wait for everything else was much worse. The venue was very nice though. We enjoyed seeing our city from a new vantage point. It's a good week night date, but bring your patience with you should you venture there on a weekend. read more
