Geez Grill & Pub This "not so Italian sports bar" is very popular in Washington Township; we visit Dorothy Lane Market several times per week and observe the Geez Grill & Pub parking lot to be very busy. We have history of dining at both Geez locations. This newer location has proven to be a winner for Geez Grill & Pub. The eclectic menu offers several food choices, including wings, which are anathema to us. Somewhat difficult to place Geez Grill & Pub in the Italian column, although the meatballs are a clear winner. We recommend adding an order of the Giallombardo family meatballs to any meal. Lots of folks and families like this popular location, and the building has hosted a variety of failed restaurants. Today's lunch groups involve several large round tables of friends. Geez Grill & Pub is an attractive setting for geriatric groups. For the New Year, our Senior Tennis Athletes from Five Seasons and now Quail Run has reserved a very large table. Bill, thanks for the arrangements. Terri, thanks for pulling this off. Our Senior Tennis Athletes order from all over the menu. A large menu is not necessarily a "good thing." Clear winners: Reuben and French Dip. The service is exceptional and merits 20% tips. Ambience is modern sports bar with some noise. Very little Italian to order from, and I have an interest cod filet today. Wishing Cod Au Gratin were offered, but this dish is beyond the reach of the kitchen. We recommend Bonefish Grill for Cod Au Gratin. Oh, today's special is pot roast - very light on the roast, and heavy on the root veggies - an average rendering of this dish; guess they forgot the seasonings. There are a few Italians at the table, and they all avoid the Italian dishes. My dear wife who was raised in her nonna's and her mother's kitchen is a champion Italian Cook and I agree with her viewpoint that there is much better Italian at home. She has a generations old special sauce, and we both are quite addicted to her home cooking. Clearly it is the delight of the company of Our Senior Tennis Athletes today that greatly enhances our dining experience. Very pleased to see that all of these friends are healthy and energetic for New Year, and thanks to Geez Grill & Pub for hosting us, and providing several options for our group. We drive past Geez quite often and the parking lot is always packed, regardless of the day of the week. We stopped by for dinner just before 6pm on a Friday and the inside had a 30-40 minute wait. Luckily, the patio was open and not very crowded (granted it was like 90 degrees out) so sat out there instead. The menu is like an Italian pub with sandwiches, pizzas, pastas. I ordered the chicken parmesan sandwich and my SO got the chicken alfredo pizza. My sandwich was delicious and just the right size to be able to eat it all without feeling overall stuffed. My friend and I stopped for a bite at a busy time on Thursday evening. We were seated in about 5 minutes and served quickly. Beer tastes were brought to the table according to our preferences. Basic drafts as well as many IPA beers and unique picks were available. We had fried pickles which were so fresh and very dill! Large quantities to share. My chicken tenders were lightly breaded and so tender. My friend had the grilled chicken which came with two sides and a roll. We got out of there for about 53$ without tip. The fries are delicious! Meatballs were pretty good too. My kids enjoyed their meals well enough. The service was weird though. First, our server came by to see what we would like to drink. But they don't have a drink menu (or we weren't offered one) even though it's a bar. Our server forgot the beer we ordered. The food took longer than usual, although we did come in at lunchtime, it was very busy. I cannot imagine why anyone would rate this place low. I am thrilled with the quality of the the food. The waitress recommended the baked Italian sandwich and it was packed with flavor. The wings were wonderful. The pork tenderloin was hose made and my picky mother loved it. Best of the the Geez Green Beans were off the charts packed with flavor. We have go to menu items that we always order: chilli cheese fries, battered mushrooms- always a hit. There was a notice on the door that the kitchen could be an hour and food wait times long - but it was a 2 hour event for us. The waiter would ask if we needed something but would only listen to the first person then quickly turn to walk away but the rest of us still wanted to ask for a drink too. Also no silverware, had to ask for that and didn't have enough for the whole table. The entire experience just seemed so unorganized and chaotic. The food was fine. It was hot but some issues with it. The bread served with the pasta meal we believe was supposed to be toasted and tasted like thawed frozen bread that hasn't been put in an oven. Unfortunately, I do not have great things to say about Geez. They served us some truly amazing french fries as an appetizer. But, that was where it ended for us. I ordered a salad with salmon and my husband ordered the fried fish with broccoli and potato casserole. The broccoli was served cold, the fish was incredibly under seasoned and the potato casserole was almost entirely onions. My salad was okay but nothing I would return for. A Dayton favorite for many years, they offer quality for a great price. It's so good they recently relocated to larger digs...the old Ruby Tuesday on Far Hills. And their patrons followed! My favorite items on the menu are Italian. They run specials all the time, and it's as good as any Italian in Dayton. Always plenty of food to carry home for the next day, cause these portions are generous. Not limited it Italian, the menu is extensive. Never had anything here I didn't enjoy. Only went to Geez twice prior to them moving to their new location. Now we go there all the time. For one, they have the Sunday nfl ticket which is awesome! They have a broad menu so there is a little something for everyone. Plenty of beer on tap & a full bar. Some of my personal favorites are the fried chicken sandwich, chicken tender and fish basket with brew city fries- yum! The Philly cheesesteak pizza and the chili cheese fries are awesome too! My first visit since they moved to the old Ruby Tuesday location. Lots more parking which was a problem at the old location. Many COVID precautions in place so I had no concerns in that aspect of the visit They have removed the old booths and now it's just bar seating, a long high top and many tables, appropriately spaced. Food and drinks are as good as ever and having more room is great. I'm certainly glad to be in the new place and I'm sure the staff and owners are as well. Had the Taco Salad and it made for a real meal. Right mixture of chili, greens, olives etc. Same friendly staff and customers, just more of both and room for them. IMHO, if you like the old Geez, you'll love the new location. read more

Geez is your average sports bar: large menu with items spanning from burgers to pizza, TVs displaying Monday night football, and drinks served up quickly by a young adult working his or her first job. I thought that the restaurant itself was cute and that it would be a good place to come with family or friends for a fun dinner spot. I ordered the Penne pasta. I liked that it came with salad and a garlic stick. All of our food was brought out in about 10ish minutes. I enjoyed my salad and the house dressing it came with. I thought the garlic stick was okay. It was a crunchy, thin slice of bread with garlic and butter. The pasta was okay, too. It was very soft, which is not my personal favorite pasta texture. I usually opt for a nice al dente texture when I cook noodles. Something I was disapointed in was the lack of gluten free options. For a place with such an extensive and vast menu, it was disappointing to not see at least a gluten free burger bun or pizza crust on the menu. However, we were able to make it work with the two gluten free people in our party. Overall, not bad, but I don't think we will be rushing back until they add gluten free options. read more

Glad we did...Dean Ordered a Blue Moon and I opted for the Angel Envy Rye...they had Bulleit Rye (which is my favorite) but I was in the mood to try something new. Our server was prompt and courteous. We order the appetizer combo which consisted of two potato skins two cheese sticks and fried mushrooms. The fried mushrooms are out of this world! - they are not overly battered and they are just darn good. We ordered a Reuben and an Italian Philly dip for entrees with onion straws and Brew City fries. Drinks were served quickly as was our appetizer and entree. Dean loved the large screen TVs which could be seen throughout the dining area...which is not overly sporty... but tastefully sport oriented. The noise level was great--you could hear yourself talk, you could hear the music...this is a big Plus in my book. It wasn't overly crowded but it was busy. The food was good.. The drinks were good.. I never would have found this place without Yelp. I've been up and down 48 and never noticed it before. We went at an off time on a Sunday. The staff was very attentive and nice. We both tried the wings and a side salad, based on other reviews. I got the sriracha ranch sauce and my friend got the spicy garlic. For the salads, I got the house creamy garlic and my friend got the blue cheese. The creamy garlic was very good. Not over powering. Salad was a nice portion with iceberg and romaine. I loved my wings. The sriracha ranch was a creamy sauce with not a lot of kick. The wings were perfectly crisp. My friend didn't realize the wings were breaded. I can't remember if the menu states it. Truthfully, my wings were so good that I didn't care about a breading. Lol Before we left, the tables were filling up. Atmosphere was pleasant. Our server was excellent. My husband ordered the fish and chips and said all was very good. I ordered penne pasta and meatball. The serving seemed small for the price and I didn't care for the pasta sauce. It had an odd ingredient that I just couldn't figure out what it was. But the meatball was excellent. I did have their mushrooms for an appetizer. The price seemed steep for mushrooms off of the appetizer menu however, they delivered a huge amount of small freshly breaded mushrooms that were the best I believe I have ever had ! Nothing but love for this place! Our server, lady-Chris was the best! She knew all about the menu and the owners. Apparently, Geez is owned by a local Italian family and everything is home made. We started with the meatball appetizer, and it was fantastic...at a great price, this one is impossible to beat. I ordered the chicken tenders with spinach casserole and shoestring fries. The tenders are hand breaded, the casserole was delicious and the fries were possibly the best I've ever had at a restaurant! No joke, this place is amazeballs. My date ordered cod (which was super good!) with spaghetti two ways. I believe I got a burger and fries here and I must say, this was a very mid burger and fries. I could have picked up better food at McDonald's. The burger was dry and the fries were cold. The only reason I finished my meal was to purely eat it not for the taste. Will I ever come back here? First time my wife and I have visited Geez, we were not impressed. While the food was not horrible (my wife had a single decker club, I had the x-Hot boneless wings), the service was abysmal. We arrived and were seated quickly, one server took our initial drink order, about 5 mins later, a second server brought our drinks, then about 10 mins later another server came up and announced that he would be our server, answered a few questions and took our order. That was the last we saw of that server. After about 25 mins (a fairly long time for a club sandwich and 9 boneless wings) a different server, maybe a manager, couldn't tell, came to the table to apologize for the delay in our order indicated that it would be out in a minute and took our drinks to refill, a different server returned with our refilled drinks. The food itself was nothing to write home about, when we were finished, we stacked our plates by the edge of the table, indicating that we were done and wanted our check, another 20 mins goes by before we flagged another server to get our check. If you don't have the time to wait, I would not recommend trying Geez, we will likely never goback. read more
