Famous is a good choice if we're trying to come up with a non-chain that is middle of the road. Not too casual and not too upscale. On our recent visit, service was ok but not great. I ordered the chicken banh mi. The flavor profile with the spicy sauce alongside the crunchy veggies was very tasty. However the fried chicken pieces were very large and a little overcooked, so difficult to eat on the bun. We will definitely be back, but might try another menu item next time. read more

Upon departing DR office, I asked staff for their take on Famous, and response was positive. Simply could not abide another visit to noisy, small Waffle House. Upon entrance, the ambience exudes comfort, light jazz, and Graclyn. BLT (larger B) was excellent. Onion Soup is arguably Best in south suburbs; Famous is owned by Doubledays and soup recipe is the same, but the cook is different. Strongly suggest the owners invest in the Chez Georges Bistro Hilton Head recipe. Graclyn merits attention as energic server. As a PLUS, there is an Ohio State Lamp to gree customers. Surely the owners can think of a more creative name; how about Doubleday's South. read more

Made a quick stop here before going to a CC meet. It's a traditional sports bar setup. Great beer selection - scan the QR Code to get the full deal. We got the dip trio which was good - salsa was a little sweet for my taste but the buffalo chicken dip and queso were delicious. I got the bacon cheeseburger and fries. Fries were OK - nothing to go on about. My wife got the Left Coast Chicken but subbed out the grilled chicken for chicken fingers. That's the play. Pick up my dinner tonight and stood in the entryway near the hostess stand for over five minutes. Customers were sitting at their tables not a very busy night. Only a few tables were filled with patrons who were sitting there, looking at me while I was looking around, waiting for somebody and then another couple walks in and joins me and we both stand there and wait and look at each other and wonder what the heck is going on finally, this blonde girl emerges from the back with an attitude and completely clueless. I told her I've been waiting and that I'd like to pick up my dinner she said pick ups were at the bar where I continue to wait even longer while she sat the next couple that we came in after me, then proceeded to walk over and asked me what the name was on my order and just casually hand me the bag without an apology after I gave her the name on the order and walked away the service here is OK at best and I'm so over ordering food and it tasting awful. This was definitely not a place you want to order takeout from the food was soggy, wet and flavorless and overpriced. read more

Had a great experience here. Shown is the boneless salad with barbecue chicken, the grilled boneless Buffalo wings and fries. Food was all good, service was great. The restaurant was neat and clean. Can get a bit loud if there's a lot of people. One tip would be to repair some of the seats. My seat had a huge tear right in the middle. read more

Haven't been in a while and decided to stop in with my husband and sister-in-law for some dinner before going to see Christmas lights. I wish I could remember the name of our server because he was incredibly friendly, had wonderful suggestions, and was an all-around nice guy. I had the chicken chili. My husband had fish and chips and my sister-in-law had. I think it was called the shipwreck. Our food was so good. That chili was incredible. Had white beans in it chicken no fat the sauce was incredibly yummy. Had a little bit of a spice to it, but not overpowering. The fish and chips were cooked to perfection according to my husband. And my sister-in-law ate her sandwich and said it was delicious. wasn't very busy we were seated quickly places kind of got a really cool vibe. You can watch sports if you want to or just sit and chat with your family and friends. I guess I had forgotten what a great little place. This was just down the street from where we live. First time eating at The Famous Restaurant 8/28 & I was impressed!! I met a girlfriend there for lunch & we neither one had been there. We both ordered the fish (haddock) sandwich, which was huge & so delicious! It came with really good, hot & seasoned fries & more than I could eat, & a small container of cole slaw. It was tasty, too!! I took half of the sandwich & fries home for dinner. You can't beat getting two meals out of one! The waitress was very nice & politely answered our questions & also gave us time to visit without making us feel rushed. I've recommended this place to several friends already. I liked the cleanliness & the relaxed atmosphere! Very nicely decorated! I'll definitely be back...I saw several other meals I'd love to try!! read more

Started with the Orange Dreamsicle cocktail and the bartender must have forgotten to stir it. Also ordered water with lemon but she forgot to bring the lemons. The dreamsicle was OK but only after giving it a good stir. The waitress never asked us if we wanted appetizers and went straight to ordering our mains. Ordered the Everything burger and the Fish & Chips. The burger was actually good but the potatoes were cold. Son brought myself and his grandmother here for Father's Day brunch. Set up was with chafing trays. Only thing hot was the coffee and syrup the server brought out from the back. Eggs were cold and grainy ( did let server know ). Fish was defrosted mush. Hopefully their regular menu is better. Had to make an emergency stop a few minutes after leaving. DIARRHEA!!! read more

It's January and 21 degrees outside. Inside the restaurant just as cold. The table we were seated at had a cold breeze running across it constantly. We watched as small pieces of napkin and paper straw covers slowly moved across our table top by the invisible force. I had to cover my quesadilla with napkins to keep the warmth in. Our coats were on but hands and noses were cold to the touch. So the HVAC was terrible; but so were the light bulbs that kept flickering on and off. Great service tonight from Hannah at The Famous Restaurant. We stopped in on Saturday, they had a 20 minute wait, note you stay in your car until they call you to let you know your table is ready. Hannah welcomed us and took our drink orders, they have over 20 beers on tap, I enjoyed Outerbelt IPA which was ice cold & refreshing. We ordered the potato skins appetizer and we devoured them, they were delicious covered in cheese with bacon and sour cream. Our meals came out of the kitchen pretty quickly after the appetizer the Dayton Italian sub, the All-American double cheeseburger and the chicken burrito bowl. After a 7 mile hike at Bill Yeck park, my friend and I by chance found this restaurant in Centerville, Oh. It was pretty busy on a Sunday afternoon, but we sat at the bar where the bartender was very attentive to two older women. The food was very yummy. I got a wrap with fries. My friend got a hamburger. We called before we came in to find out what soups they had. They had chili, French onion, chicken tortilla, beef vegetable, and potato. I ordered the beef vegetable. Husband had chicken tortilla with tossed salad special. My beef vegetable was so thick you could stand the spoon up in the middle of it. I would not call it soup. My husband's was almost the same way, but he liked it anyway. Mine was very salty and peppery so I asked to change to the chili. The chili only had ground beef in it. No beans or tomatoes. I actually took a couple tomatoes off of my husband's salad and put it in the chili. If I come back here, I definitely won't get the soup. Guess I'll stick with burger and fries. P.S. Wow what a waste of $50 !!! We had a chicken gyro and had to purchase the side of fries separately and the buffalo chicken taco's. The chicken in both tasted like shredded canned chicken. The gyro had No flavor and the chicken tacos tasted like buffalo chicken dip on a tortilla , came with a small side of chips. We were very disappointed. Regular here! The Buffalo chicken dip is sooooo good! If you want a huge tray of nachos this is the place. The ingredients are always fresh and it feeds 3-4 people. Their wings are the best...never taste frozen (not sure if they are or aren't), always cooked to crispy perfection and they have this sweet hot sauce that goes good on everything. They serve the golden nugget chicken and waffles, which are the best I've ever had. Huge hit with the kids. Their burgers are the bomb...just can't go wrong here. I'd be doing an injustice if I don't mention my favorite cocktail in Dayton - the Norma Jean. It's fruity, tangy, won't break the bank and only two will do ya! Definitely check this place out I'll probably be sitting at the bar. read more

My family and I made an unexpected but delightful stop at The Famous Restaurant today. My son and husband got the Greek Burger and my son was quoted as saying "this is the best burger I've ever had in my life". My husband loved it as well. I got the Coney Style Fries and they were BY far the best chili cheese fries I've ever consumed in my life. My daughter got the grilled boneless salad and she too Loved it! The atmosphere was fantastic and the staff incredibly friendly and attentive. I don't have a single complaint, Other than the desserts are listed on the back page with the "Fit" menu, which seems a little unfair lol I was told it's because their desserts have no calories haha!
